Review Markyles Coffee And Food Establishment - Hamilton

A group of 3 of us went here for Sunday lunch. Nice enough but not amazing. It wasn't busy and were were served quickly. I had mince on toast and appreciated the option of having the mince served in a bowl so the toast didn't get soggy. Lovely decor with comfortable seating that wasn't too cramped. As another reviewer mentioned, they started closing up while we were still at our table finishing up which dulls the hospitality (this is not unique to this cafe though). The custard slice looked delicious and I'll be going back to give it a try one of these days.

This was my first time eating at Markyles, and I am happy to say I will return the next time I am in Hamilton. The food was stunning, not too big but a perfect portion of deliciousness. I had the Markyles Full Eggs Benedict. The hash cakes were perfectly flavoured as was the on point Hollandaise. The eggs spewed forth luscious golden yolk that complemented the whole dish. The latte was silky and flavourful and finished off the meal perfectly. Thank you Markyles!!!!! Looking forward to venturing back!

Great atmosphere, really nicely laid out cafe and super friendly staff every time I have been. The menu has lots of great options on it. Definitely something for everyone. Don’t get over here for lunch often but it’s one of my top picks when I can get over this side of town for a lunch. The meals are always so beautifully presented and really tasty too. Some of their specials sell out quite fast too, so I watch their socials to see what’s happening

A random find, a real hole in the wall. We would have missed it if not for the special rate in their roasted pumpkin & carrot soup at $16 (which 2 can actually share if you’re in for a light meal) advertised through a humble board sign outside the store. We also got an onsie benedict for $10 (my partner loved so much all I can here was “mmmm.. so good.. mmm.. in repeat all throughout our late lunch). The coffee was also good. So if you’re around the area, drop by. IT’s deceptively small outside but inside it’s warm and homey. Just a simple restaurant with the basics which in some days is all you need.

Amazing food, amazing staff, amazing environment, the music is always great. You can buy plants alongside your food and coffee couldn't recommend this place more Thank you for the amazing environment 🙏

I never get my veggie scone it's always bacon scone.. 😩 I am going there again tomorrow crossing my fingers🤞 the food is really lovely and so are the staff hence would recommend visiting.. they do a half breakfast as well so that's super duper amazing... when I get my spinach and cheese scone I will give u a 5 star else to be honest u deserve a 5 star.. 😊

Came for lunch today, had the creamy mushrooms on toast...Yum!! Tasty, a decent size and my toast was crunchy, just as i like it. A busy little place, but received our coffees and food with little waiting. Definitely return, good service, yummy food and good price :) Can.t complain at all :)

A comfortable space with a fairly pleasant aesthetic. The coffee and food was acceptable. Though not exceptional. Though I'm informed both are usually better. The kitchen only had a single staff member on which made a difference apparently. Staff were pleasant and friendly and greeted us on entry.menus and pricing were clear. Popular cafe in Hamilton Central, reasonable priced, excellent service, great coffee, good value with GrabOne voucher. Can be quite busy at lunch time though.

Seriously this Cafe is amazing! The food is always so yummy, it’s reasonably priced and the coffee is delicious! We have always enjoyed our meals here, the atmosphere is pretty good. It’s a little cramped inside, but it’s lovely sitting outside on a nice day. Definitely recommend giving this place a go! Yummy

Great food and staff are nice- some customers that come here can be somewhat pretentious but that's ok coz the food made up for it and glad they have a little alcohol beverage selection! I recommend the corn fritters- huge portion, so probably a good plate to share nom nom

Best place in Hamilton. <br/><br/>The staff were such salt of the earth kiwis with excellent banter. I came here on a date and they accommodated perfectly and the recommendation of the hash stack and the corn fritters was the best thing that's come into my life since Stranger Things season 2 came out.<br/><br/>The ambiance is chill and almost feels like Wellington. Quality coffee topped off a great morning in the Tron.<br/><br/>Keep up the good work guys!

Stumbled across this place this morning what can i say by far the best cafe ive been too walked in was greeted by a friendly waitress. Their portion size for the French toast was bang on.<br/><br/>Will highly recommend this place hands down the most friendliest stuff.<br/><br/>Service is amazing, food is amazing, prices are amazing deffs be paying a vist when in Hamilton agian!!<br/>

Walked in this morning after the ANZAC Dawn Service, & was greeted immediately by a friendly waitress. The cafe looked very inviting. There were a few people there, so we were happy to grab an empty booth nearby. Menu looked delicious! I ordered eggs bene vegatarian. Our hot meals arrived in 15 minutes. Big portions, but oh so yummy! Mine had portobello mushrooms, roasted peppers, spinach, 2 eggs with creamy hollandaise sauce on thick toasted crusty bread. Fabulous!!! Ate it all! Hot chocolate was delish too. All in all Service great! Staff attentive & friendly, fabulous menu, & atmosphere very nice. Will definitely return. Thank you!

Good service, awesome food and coffee. Tea with actual tea leaves (almost unheard of these days) and reasonable prices ($45 for two people). We had the hotcakes with lemon butter and the potato hash cakes. The hotcakes were light and fluffy, very sweet but the lemon butter cut through nicely. The hash cakes way exceeded my expectations - tall and crispy, gorgeous flavours with the bacon and smashed avo.<br/>Only downside was the hollandaise had split, although still edible was disappointing. Best cafe in Hamilton so far.

Such a nice menu! Always get eggs benedict though because it's pretty good. Staff are always so friendly! Would recommend the rosti stack as well!

I'm an "eggs on toast with smashed avo" kind of a gal but decided to live a little and tried the Rosti Breakfast Stack. Surprised to say that I loved it. Coffee was good too.

Came here today for lunch with my husband to catch up with a friend and had a great experience! My husband and I decided to share something cause we werent super hungry, we got the pulled pork sandwhich and mentioned to the waiter we would be sharing and when they brought it out they brought it out already cut in half (each portion very generous sized) and it was the BEST pulled pork sandwhich I have ever had! Such a different but delicious taste! I will definitely come back for that. So food was great and the service was aswell!

I love the Coffee and Food Establishment. The food is ALWAYS spectacular and the service is awesome. My girlfriends and I went there the other day. We all ordered the scallops wrapped in bacon. It was amazing. I definitely recommend that you give it a try.  For dessert we shared two cabinet cakes, a citrus muffin and a raspberry, pear, white chocolate short cake. Absolutely divine!

Breafast hunger took me to this "establishment" on a cold Sunday morning. The place was jam packed inside and out as we entered. And just when l thought that i need to scout for another place, a table cleared up. Happiness. The ambience appeared home style. The menus; classy. The staff very friendly and polite.<br/><br/>A decent selection of breakfast options. Ordered the coffees which were served within 5 minutes of placing the order. The breakfast order arrived 10 minutes into placing the same. The order was:<br/><br/>Cappuccino <br/>Flat white<br/>The establishment <br/>Hot cakes<br/><br/>The high point: hot cakes<br/>The.Best.I.Ever.Had . Melt in the mouth, not too sweet, not bland just the right amount of maple that leaves you wanting more after each bit. You dont need teeth to eat these bunnies. And why not would that be, they had ricotta in them. So 3 big hot cakes with lemon butter and 5 big drops of berry ju'<br/>Foodgasm <br/><br/>The establishment is what they call their big kiwi breakfast. The best was the chorizo sausage. This was big massive breakfast for hunger buddies. 2 Scrambled eggs, 2 portobello mushrooms, half a tomato, slice of ciabatta, massive sausage, 2 hash browns and a mini butter. In the lovely Hamilton for the weekend, first place we came too. Food well priced, good portions, only thing I would say is small menu, not a big problem tho. Mince on toast was ordered with poached egg, ad came with a perfectly runny egg! This have proved an issue at other establishments. Apparently perfect breakfast. Lemon and ricotta pancakes, BIG portion, delicious, sweetness, I couldn't eat it all!! Coffee, delicious!!

Horrible service! Took so long to be given menus and to have our order taken. Coffees were well below par and then our friends (who ordered a glass of Coke!) was given her food BEFORE her drink! And she had asked for no ice, and they brought the drink out with ice when it finally came out. Totally unacceptable! My steak was cooked 'medium' and I was not asked how I would like it cooked, and when I did tell the counter they said it was too late. My steak was actually cooked well done and was chewy, all the fat and muscle hadn't been cut off either. The sauce on my friends chicken salad was inedible, two of my friends got eggs benedict and both were extremely over cooked. I can honestly say the best part of our experience was the Coke. Very unprofessional staff, they are not well trained at all. Would not recommend eating here!

I think this place is gr8! I ordered eggs bene with added hashbrown & a chocolate raspberry cake to take away. I'm not a fan of the ciabatta bread that was used but that's just a personal preference. The atmosphere was relaxed which is what I enjoy and the service was friendly.

Lunch for two a couple of weeks back.  For me, this used to be a really good cafe and a worthy default option if I couldn't think of anywhere else!  Not any more.<br/><br/>My partner and I found a table inside and sat there for 10 minutes and weren't even looked at by the staff!  So I went to the counter and enquired about service.  The non smiling person just said they could take the order there, but could come to the table "if you want".  No apologises.    Just to be clear, the do take orders at the table.   So I went back and found what my partner wanted, and went back and ordered lunch.  The only reason I didn't walk out is that I had a GrabOne voucher! No engagement or eye contact by the staff member on the till - more interested in her hair!<br/><br/>Anyway, one dish was good, the other only OK.<br/><br/>Not sure if it has changed ownership recently?  Didn't recognise any staff that made the place good once.<br/><br/>I did give it a good rating in 2012 (below), but won't be going back.  Far better options elsewhere.  People have choice these days - don't have to put up with it.<br/><br/>2012: Rating then: 5. <br/>We have been to this place a few times now and it is very good. Food is tasty, well prepared and varied. The staff are efficient and friendly. Prices are fair to! Can't really ask more than that. We would thoroughly recommend this place and it is up there with the best cafes in Hamilton.

Only been here once and I left satisfied!<br/>Had the french toast which I was skeptical of getting as I thought it would be too sweet but it was not at all!<br/>Only flaw was that the curly fries were mainly batter-not the potato itself which in my personal preference is not what I'm after.<br/>Otherwise, I enjoyed my meal!

Great little place in Hood Street that you can usually park within a stones throw of the door. Really well presently small cabinet range with some very nice baking. Well priced menu meals and the Establishment Breakfast is as good as it looks. The coffee is consistently good without getting carried away, there is a decent range of newspapers if that's your thing and nice outdoor seating across the sunny front of the premises. Some of the best hospo staff I have come across in Hamilton, genuinely friendly without been intrusive and efficient.

I have been here a couple of times, and the staff is very friendly and welcoming. the shop is comfortable and tidy. Nice food although no dairy free options. Always new stuff in the cabinet, and really nice coffee.

Absolutely gorgeous! Great service, awesome food. Thanks for going the extra mile with our takeaway treats, chocolate sauce, berries and yghurt. LOVED IT.... certainly didn't expect it. WE WILL BE BACK!

We had the soup of the day and it was utterly scrumptious! The staff were lovely. This will definitely be a regular lunch place for us.

I went there late this morning with a deal voucher. Coffee was great and came within 5 minutes. My chicken salad followed another 5 minutes later, it was different, something I hadn't tried before but it was delicious. I also ordered steak fries even though I couldn't finish them they were delicious and the aioli that came with it was a top aioli! <br/>Service was great! <br/>Will definitely be going there again.

So far, my favourite Cafe in Hamilton. I have yet to find a place, including an evening restaurant that can match or beat their Steak Sandwich. The combination of ingredients is perfect, so I often go there just to have it as I am constantly disappointed with other restaurants and the price they charge in comparison to C.A.F.E. I often take friends there and they also love the place.<br/><br/>The staff is friendly! They are funny and lovely to talk to, no problems whatsoever. One time, a waitress misheard my order on a muffin and she easily fixed it by giving me another dish for free.<br/><br/>The Cajun Salad is delicious and I have friends who also love it too. The salads in the cabinet at the counter are equally great and I also love their fresh leafy salads that they serve. I would also say that they make the best Chai Latte’s.<br/><br/>Their savory dishes are much better quality than their sweet dishes (hotcakes and French toast).<br/><br/>Their portion size of French toast is a bit too large tasted a bit dry in the middle and desperately needs to be served with something to counteract the sugar overload such as cream, to make it easier to digest. <br/><br/>Muffins are delicious, as they are warmed in the store, but I’m not a fan of their yogurt sauce that it is served with.<br/><br/>Aside from this, I would highly recommend to all.

Dashed in for a quick 'pick-me-up' on a lunch break and ended up getting the world's driest cupcake. And to top it off when I asked if the cupcake had nuts (I have an allergy and I stress this to everyone when eating out) they assured me no but the to my sad surprise the middle layer of cream was loaded with hazelnuts. So that was a fun afternoon allergy attack!

Went to Coffee &amp; Food Establishment for a work team breakfast. Had booked for 6 people, however, there ended up being 7 people. They dealt with this efficiently and with no complaints, which was great. <br/>Service was friendly and any mistakes made (minimal) were trumped by the efficiency and care of the staff. Food was delicious - portions were on the generous side, well presented and reasonably priced. <br/>Will be arranging to go back in early February with the same team, as we were so impressed with the experience!

Went for lunch today, had been waiting to check out this cafe for ages on the feedback that I had heard from others.<br/><br/>Overall though I found it all a little average at best. Waiter service was inconsistent for a start.<br/><br/>Cajun chicken salad lacked any cajun flavouring and was very sparse for the price, and really was just a few flavourless chicken strips in a mesculan mix.<br/><br/>Cake looked better than it tasted, actually rather bland.

I had out of town friends for weekend so took them to my fav place for brunch...they too loved it...daughter had crumpets, must admit this time they were a bit over done and rubbery :( I had eggs benedict delicious as always ....French toast was devoured by friend...all happy campers..yet another great meal with fantastic friendly service and great prices :)

Went there with my sister for lunch today. They were very busy(being mothers day), but the service was OUTSTANDING. We had just finished our starter and our mains arrived, so no waiting. Staff were everywhere to be seen, so wanted for nothing. Food was amazing and well worth what we paid for. Thank-you staff and cooks. You made our day !!! Will definitely be returning and recommending to all..

Great food can't complain. Prices are reasonable.<br/>The coffee is really good, I don't always buy coffee and other drinks when I'm out but their coffee is always perfect. <br/>The staff are friendly and the one time they did forget our orders they gave us a discount and the they apologised for the mistake, which is really all they needed to do.<br/>I will be back again for sure.

Great addition to Hamilton's cafe collection. Really great coffee and lovely food. Everyone I bring here enjoys it and goes back. Prices are reasonable. I never leave disappointed. Both the menu food and the cabinet food are tasty and filling.

Absolutely terrible service. We went there for breakfast on St Paddy's day. Waited for 45 minutes for our coffee even though they place would not have been any busier than a normal cafe! People who came in before us got served first. Food was overpriced and not worth it. Lucky we had a voucher or would have been very annoyed at having to pay.

Have just been for lunch and brought a vegetarian salad, it was the smallest salad i have seen in my life, for the price i could have brought a huge Donner kebab and a drink, very disappointed I'm afraid. The breakfasts are nice as we have been there for that as well but this was disappointing. No more lunches there for me I'm afraid :o(

Today we had brunch here,it was lovely! the staff were great and the decor amazing. The menu isn't huge but has a vast range of items and good prices.The service was prompt and efficient.We had a great time this morning,I would highly recommend this establishment to anyone :)

Great food and excellent service. Not a long wait even when they were busy. Very happy with the overall experience. One thing surprised me was the price of the big breakfast. $20 seemed a bit much I thought. Still rate this place highly and will be returning.

Hands down the friendliest staff in the history of hospitality! Amazing food, both menu-wise (huge breakfasts) and super stunning cabinet food (you don't see awesome homemade cabinet food of this quality often) and really, really good coffee! Absolutely love this place!

Had lunch here a few weeks ago. Really yummy food &amp; great service. The staff were very accommodating of our toddler &amp; very friendly. Great coffee!

Fantastic food using lovely fresh ingredients, mouth watering home baking, awesome coffee. All this rounded off by amazingly friendly helpful staff, you feel like you are visiting family with this team. A very well managed cafe which is always a pleasure to visit.<br/><br/>Keep it up team.

Loved it! Staff were friendly and attentive. Although the menu was slightly limited, the choice of the steak sandwich was awesome. Perfectly cooked and melt in your mouth sirloin. Standard cafe prices for the food. Coffee and drinks were definitely cheaper than most though. Smoothies only $4.50 and a huge serve. Coffees $3.50 to $4.50 depending on your choice. Will definitely be back to try the cabinet desserts which looked delish!

Another favorite of mine…great option for lunch, Love the cooked breakfast and the corn fritter stack served with sour cream, bacon and smothered in sweet chilli sauce but plenty of other menu and counter options. Coffee and Sweets are always a treat here. Great Atmosphere with clean and bright modern setting and outdoor seating on Hood st. The consistency of friendly staff is a pleasant relief. Keep up the good work guys.
