Review Cafe Olive - Hamilton

Am visiting from out of town taking my mother for lunch. Nice atmosphere and pleasant staff. My long black was good slightly bitter aftertaste but that is just the bean. I succumbed to the French toast made with brioche and it was very good. My mother has the corn and zucchini fritters with fries she thought the fritters could have been crispier but otherwise enjoyed her meal and coffee. Recommended cost is moderate $$.

Took the team of 20 for a Xmas lunch. The food, service, atmosphere were amazing and incredible value. Thanks from the team at Just Paterson

My wife and I enjoyed an exceptional breakfast here very recently. We sat outside and enjoyed the sun. We received a few judging stares off doggie folk, as it appears these seats are favored by them, due to the accommodating water bowl (for the dogs, not the folks). Look forward to going back.

Wide Range of food, it all looks really delicious. For drinks, it'll cost around $5-$6, and for meals from the kitchen, it'll be from $15-$30. The staff are friendly and there are both inside and outside options.

Very nice food (both cabinet and kitchen), great selection of drinks and always fast friendly service. Quite often find myself returning here on work trips. Free wifi too!

This is the best cafe I’ve ever been to in the whole of New Zealand! The boss of the cafe is super nice and friendly and the food is delicious.

Olive Cafe is my local and I go here most weeks for my coffee fix. Such a welcoming friendly atmosphere. I normally phone ahead for my coffee and they always know it's for me when I arrive to pick it up. Their customer service skills are the best as is their coffee. They always have a great selection of food available at a reasonable price also

Lovely little cafe, came around 10am very busy. But Service nice and fast, seems like a popular local cafe, coz cafe next door ia very quiet.

Sadly this was a terrible dining experience. Arriving at 2.15pm, to an empty cafe, the staff we’re finishing up cleaning and clearly disappointed that some diners had arrived at that time. We then were rushed to make our order so both went with fritters and fries.<br/><br/>We heard the microwave beep so many times it was worrying. I can only assume it was for the fritters, however, as they were stone cold when in front of us, confusing somewhat. The bacon on top of the fritters had clearly been ‘cooked’ on a radiator as was cold and ridiculously pink also. The fries however, burning hot, yet somehow still managed to be raw in the middle.<br/><br/>The waitress walked past our table twice to see we were unhappy, but once we finished our glass of water we were outta there. Terrible food and terrible customer service. $40 spent on a dire lunch, but hopefully we’re helping others save their cash!

Cafe Olive is a lovely cafe that hides itself away in a busy spot. The mild Mediterranean theme just makes this place summery and somewhere nice to relax. The coffee is wonderful, the staff are cheery and the small lunch menu is made up for by excellent options.

We almost missed this cafe because of its average rating was only 3.5 when we searched for places for breakfast on our last trip to Hamilton, it was lowest among cafes we found whIch having rating above 3.5. Food was absolutely delicious and reasonably priced. Not to forget mentioning, the Feijoa and Custard muffin was so nice and only available during the Feijoa's season. Surely come back again on next Feijoa's season.. :)

We have been to Cafe Olive a few times now, great service, divine cakes (yes, I have had a few) and fantastic coffee. At the moment there are guest coffees, great idea. Hopefully these will continue. <br/>Great place to cycle too as well, it's located near Bobs bikes. Very handy!<br/>I fully recommend a visit here, the service is great, coffee if fantastic and the food is brilliant!

Today after a funeral I brought 5 others in for lunch, I must say Tania and Phil that NEW menu is amazing, the others had the beef burger and thoroughly loved it I on the other hand had the Lamb and kumara salad with the curry dressing, Truly outstanding with all the flavors jumping around in my mouth. The coffees hot, strong and smooth, with one of our guests stating that was the BEST hot chocolate she has ever had. I loved the coffee. It has an excellent taste and I have actually bought the beans. The food is delicious and friendly, fast service!<br/>We have breakfast there with staff at the end of the term as their breakfast menu is versatile and there is something for everyone. Although we were a big group everyone got their breakfast in a timely fashion and still hot.

Visited with family for coffee. The cafe was nice and busy but didn't have to wait long for our drinks. The coffee was superb and the staff nice and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. We will be back.

Took my Daughter to Cafe olive this morning for brunch, everything was a delight, the eggs Benedict was amazing with the presentation outstanding. Jess had the bagel with pesto and cream cheese and as she is normally a fussy eater enjoyed every mouthful.<br/>The coffee was strong , hot and perfect while the customer service was at it's usual friendly standard, I was hoping to take away one of the amazing looking bubblegum cup cakes but maybe next time . Keep up the great job guys you work hard on your business and it shows in the beautiful food and service . PS Nice back ground music.

Met some friends who had travelled to Hamilton and with time against us, decided to try Olive- again.<br/>Had to move seats due to the door always open and a cold breeze blowing on us, the seated guests.<br/>Ordered our meal and when they came out mine had a long, dark hair wound around the decorative bits in the salad, after pointing this out to the waitress she removed the dish and apparently another meal was prepared, the lettuce was soggy underneath which suggests other wise.<br/>All we got was " it happens" and a lame apology, no other reparation was suggested which was extremely poor for such a offensive thing to happen to our meal.<br/>Will never be back.

Food is wonderful, service friendly and coffee always perfect. Sometimes the building is a bit chili, but would still recommend as great relaxing place for food and coffee.

Well, where do I start. <br/>This was the first visit to Cafe Olive after hearing many good things...!!<br/><br/>Seated outside in the cool breeze was great although it was just as pleasant and cool in the cafe itself.<br/>Water was provided which was icy and plenty of it ( it was refilled without question .. EXCELLENT<br/><br/>Between us we had seafood chowders, lamb burger and vege pinini. I personally had a chowder and was not disappointed as It was built as a decent Lunch dish - not to heavy but all the right seafoody flavours<br/>The stand out dish by looks, aromas and (by all accounts) taste, was the lamb burger. I will be trying this myself at our next visit (There will definitely be a next visit)<br/>Various drinks such as coffee and the fancy ice cream thingy with coffee and ginger (a gingerpete I think it was named) was devine and very different.<br/>The prices were average but the overall feel and food of Olive Cafe make this not an issue.<br/>I would recommend cafe Olive in an instant and am very cross that I have not been before...!!!!!<br/>Thanx to all concerned

In love with this cafe and thank goodness we live so close as I can't get enough of the amazing food and lovely service. Did I mention how amazingly good the food is? It is by far my children's fav. cafe as they get treated like a prince and princess and they love their fluffies.

Went there on Saturday and like normal was busy and completely full up as they have such a great reputation for amazing service, food and coffee.<br/>I just got a coffee this time as dropped in on my way through, the coffee was perfect. Would go back in a heart beat and highly recommend to everyone. A+++

Had a business lunch here this week. There was plenty of food selection. The interior of the cafe is very attractive, andi like the concept of the 'booth'seating - although I did find my bench seat to be a little low relative to the table height. The music needs to be addressed. I like the music they were playing, but it was so loud! (maybe so the staff could hear it in the kitchen????) I couldn't hear myself think, and left instead of ordering a second coffee. I am young, and live locally. This cafe is directly opposite a retirement village, so I imagine that lots of older people will eat there - they may damage their business with the volume problem, which would be a shame as they are in a great spot.

The food at Cafe Olive is very good. <br/><br/>The place is set up lovely and has nice music playing. <br/><br/>The customer service there is also wonderful and the staff are very friendly. I would highly recommend it.

As a local resident I was thrilled to see this cafe open. Have been a regular customer since they opened and have always been really happy with the quality of food. Excellent flavours and love the cakes and slices. Staff are friendly and very helpful.
