Amazing!!! Thai food is my absolute favourite and Original Thai is undoubtedly the best in Hamilton. Everything we ordered was 10/10 and so was the service. I’ve also never seen such intricate carrot garnishes before! They were a work of art, and just go to show the level of care at Original Thai. Can’t wait to try the whole menu!

The Thai food at this restaurant was genuinely the best I can recall having. The spring rolls we started with had a crispy outer layer unlike any I've had before. All our main dishes were excellent. I can't pick a single fault with any of them. The table was well decorated and the food presentation was also well done with fine details. The owner was very pleasant and helpful. Strongly recommend you try this place. If we lived in the area we would definitely make this a regular habit.

We were quickly seated, delivered our drinks and our order taken. The restaurant was clean, tidy and well presented with authentic thai decorations. The food arrived and looked delicious. My mussaman had a little candle under it to keep it hot and it fancy dish. The boat curry also turned up in a nice boat shaped dish. All the meals were absolutely delicious. Service was great. We would definitely go back.

I always go for a Coconut Red Duck Curry with Lychee when i eat Thai. First time I went to this place and I really liked it. Lady was lovely. it came out looking lovely. Even a candle underneath to keep warm (which I thought was a great idea. Only thing is when I asked for Mild, it did come super mild. So just bear that in mind. when trying to gauge how hot something will be (I am a woose when it comes to heat).

An Exquisite Dining Experience! We enjoyed the most delicious Green Chicken Curry and Satay Beef, Sizzling on a hot plate. The service was absolutely lovely and the dessert to die for. The coconut banana fritters and ice cream were exquisite and the Chocolate Fruit Fondue amazing! We asked for a bowl of the caramel sauce too and this was gorgeous with banana and apple! Just like toffee apples. Would highly recommend these delectable dishes in such a pleasant restaurant.

Great service, great food generous serving. Waitress friendly, knows the menu and can offer advice to taste. Menu can/will be adapted to taste. When in Hamilton for work, definitely dine at this restaurant. Highly recommend for those that want a lovely meal, quite astomphere, generous serving at a realistic price...highly recommended!!!

Qualiy Thai food. Very tasty and authentic. Service pleasant and efficient. Decor quite nice. However the pricing is about 20% higher than normal - likely due to the location directly opposite the hotel. It always leaves a bad impression when places charge $3.50 for an extra small bowl of rice.

The food at this place is TERRIBLE if I could give 0 stars I would my partner and I dined here last night we ordered the $26 beef mussaman curry $26 Pork curry $36 Spicy seafood sizzling plate The mussaman was pastel orange with 2 small pieces of potato and a few thin slices of beef in a weird watery sauce that tasted like watered down butter chicken sauce not authentic at all at $26 for a small bowl it's ridiculous same goes for the pork curry same weird watery sauce thin slices of meat and pineapple but the kicker was the seafood sizzling plate which the server recommended at $36 for a side plate with 1 scallop 2 small pieces of fish and 4 mussels its a joke now I wouldnt mind the prices or portion sizes if it tasted good but it was all horrible the only thing they got right was probably the rice will NEVER come back here again

The food was GOOD ! And the service was fast as i feel like we ordered right before a big group that was around that night . We had the whole snapper and entree size tom yam. The snapper is suitable for up to 4 ppl (but limited gravy, probably request for more ?) also Depending on the other side dishes you ordered (probably another 2-3 side dishes, the fish can definitely feed a table of 4. Overall it was good, will definitely come back !

Was told my delivery would be 15 minutes, 39 minutes later it arrived. Then they tried to overcharge me because their prices were different to what was on this site AND the delivered a number 23, which was horrible, instead of a number 24. To make it worse it wasn't hot because the driver took so long to get here. NOT GOOD ENOUGH, I would recommend Victors Place over this!!!!!

We're in Hamilton for surgery staying in a hotel and taking advantage of the delivery service we thought that dinner would be easy. We waited 20 minutes after the delivery time, were overcharged and one of our meals was wrong. The delivery person had to be called in on his day off and the girl who took our order over the phone spoke bare minimum English. The food was luke warm when it arrived which has now meant I can't eat until my surgery. Hugely disappointing after all the great reviews the restaurant has received

Pretty impressive Thai restaurant, loved my curry puffs and satay chicken skewers. Highly disappointed there was no roti on the menu. Food prepared fresh and was totally delicious service was also fantastic.

This is probably the best Thai I've had in Hams, and I've been searching for a good one for months. Food was really nice. Good service. Could of used some music or something. We had satay gai and curry puffs for entree and chicken pad Thai and crispy pork red curry for main. Standard portion sizes. The only downside was I felt it was a bit expensive. I would definitely go there again but it's not on the lets go for a cheap Thai list ;)

Had a takeaway meal, ordered by phone. Meal was ready to pick up in 15 mins. Absolutely amazing service, polite and friendly. Meal was great, wife had the chicken pad Thai and I had the signature crispy chicken, just the right amount of heat. Would eat again, maybe dine in next time.

The Original Thai Restaurant is as original as any Thai restaurant in Auckland (in a good way) Taste: 4/5 the food is pretty authentic and yummy. Was particularly impressed with their dessert selection which included quite a variety of authentic Thai desserts which many other restaurants wouldn't bother offering. Bonus points there! Value: 3/5 prices would rival a fancy Thai restaurant in Ponsonby, which is a little steep Decor/Ambience: 3/5 the restaurant is dimly lit, and seems a little run down Overall: 3.5/5 if prices were made a little more affordable, I'd probably happily eat there all the time.

The sevice here is simply amazing. We were immediately attended upon arrival. We had the tomyum and their specialty fish in just roughly 10 minutes. We really felt that we were taken care of. From the water, the extra bowls and the immediate clearing of plates, the service fundamentals were there. Although we felt that the tomyum tasted sweeter than it should be. Other than that, this place is worth the visit.

Really enjoyed a family dinner, service was very quick, appetisers were good, green curry was the highlight my husband now craving. No problem with taking home daughters pad Thai. Cost was pretty good. Would definitely return.

As for thai joints in Hamilton this is one of the better ones in the CBD. Extremely friendly staff that welcome you with a beaming smile. The food is definitely for those who like Thai food as an ethnic option with out the real kick of thai spices and pungent flavours. I have been going here for few years for lunch and the food is very consistent.

Food was amazing, and they catered extremely well for vegetarian / vegan diets. The pad-thai and curries seemed to be the most popular choices amongst our large group. The presentation of food was so cute and the restaurant itself was decorated nicely. Great customer service and waitresses were very well spoken and friendly. Would definitely return to eat here again.

Went here for dinner last Saturday night. Relatively nice ambience, staff were attentive and polite. Food was significantly average however and exceptionally overpriced, especially for the quality (or lack of). Ordered a Singha beer too which had either been open for a while or kept in the oven because it was flat and pretty gross. To top it off, I asked for a little extra rice and they threw a whopping $7 on, for rice! Won't be going back, there are too many far better quality and priced restaurants.

We had my cousin's birthday there last weekend. We had two staff waiting on us, the younger one was very rude and arrogant. When asking for a drink she looked at us like she couldn't be bothered being there and then wouldn't take our order for drinks. Kept shoving and reaching over us to get to dishes, shoved my Elderly Grand mother a few times which at this point I wanted to have a go at her. Had to wait for ages for food, ordered the $49 deal for 7 or more, a bit of everything. Food was alright, nothing to blow about. If it wasn't for the awesome company I was with I would of got up and walked out.

Went out with my family for a birthday dinner on a Sunday night. Had never visited this Thai restaurant so was not to sure of what to expect. Service was very friendly but not to overbearing and the food was great. Nice environment with a surprising steady flow of diners. Huge menu which was amazing. Food was fast and well presented. I think it is a bit more expensive than other Thai restaurants but well worth it.

Table for 2. My friend recommended this place so we visited for dinner. Food was well cooked and presented. There are a heap of options on the menu. The restaurant is a bit dim inside, but otherwise is nice and has some character. The service was friendly and efficient, although not very knowledgeable when asked about options from the drinks menu! Overall, worth going to. Other Thai places are at a similar level. Most likely will be back some time.

Went here awhile back for a family dinner. I ordered the volcano chicken. It was very well presented, and was served on fire which was a nice touch. Taste wise it was ok. The skin was amazing however the chicken was a bit dry. Staff were friendly and prompt. Restaurant is BYO and corkage is very well priced. Will try again.

We've been here three or four times over a couple of years. The place is always busy, they've always been able to make extra space for a couple, the menu is substantial and covers a range of tastes. Solid wine and beer choices, the food has always been absolutely fabulous and the portion sizes great. The staff are charming and responsive. Would recommend highly.

Incredible place! I have both dined in and had takeaways from this place and every time has been superb. The Green Curry is fantastic and they have a wide range of delicious platters and appetisers. The deep fried ice cream is also something you MUST try if you visit this restaurant - so yummy! The only thing that stops me from giving it 5 stars are the prices - $50+ for takeaways for two people is just too much (2x mains and an appetiser), but overall it's a great dining experience!

Went out to dinner to The Original Thai Restaurant and was impressed from the time I stepped in the door. The service was great the atmosphere was relaxing the food was presented the best I've seen in any restaurant before, but more importantly tasted magnificent. Think I have found my new favorite place to dine.

Best Thai in NZ!! We found this restaurant at menumania while passing through the Tron & it more than met our expectations. The curry puffs are to die for (light, delicate and tasty), the crispy pork salad lived up to its name and had an exceptional spicy flavor, and the roast honey duck was simply outstanding. All washed down with lovely cold Chang beer. Fast friendly service and pleasant surroundings. We'll be back!!

I've eaten at the Original Thai Restaurant a few times now, and have always enjoyed the food. The last two times I ordered the Gai Fai - a VERY hot meal, and loved it. We had the fishcakes to start which was also very nice. Two people at our table got given the wrong meals, that were meant for a different table, but this was corrected quickly. The whole chicken is a very popular choice here too - someone at our table always orders it, and it's too big for one person to eat by themselves.

Great Food. We are never let down by the taste and we have tried alot of different Thai places. Were recommended this place by a friend and it has since proved a great place to go. The head waitress is just so nice and makes you feel so welcome. Our first choice when out for Thai or even when we can't decide where to go. The decor is very traditional and the staff wear traditional dress which is a neat thing to see these days. Its a place you can relax and feel comfortable in.

We have tried many of the Thai restaurants in Hamilton and been very disappointed in all but this restaurant. We love their pad thai which is always fresh and delicious without being overly oily which we found others to be in the area. They are reasonably priced and always friendly & courteous. Highly recommend!

No a bad meal but food was staged (and there were only 8 of us)5 minutes between 1st and last dish. One chicken stir fry came out without chicken, had to return it to have chicken added. Also they charged for extra rice without telling us that you have to pay for a refil, never had that happen before especially when the rice dishes are tiny. Ok but we prefer Thai Village

Eat at this restaurant regularly and can recommend it for good Thai food in the traditional sense - decor think plastic flowers and traditionally dressed wait staff. Their crispy duck dish is delicious. Recently had lunch here and was disappointed at the significantly parred down menu which was a bit dull.

I dine at O.T often both in house and takeaway.Best Thai in the TRON I rekon. Fresh and tasty food is used and cooked quickly & presented looking amazing.I took 25 friends there for my birthday and all but 1 loved it.(He doesn't do spicy and wanted butter chicken) All my friends have been back except 1(butter chicken boy).Some issues can arise and I found it is mainly the language barrier, but staff have always been polite and friendly when this happens and rectify the problem quickly. I love the atmosphere and the traditional clothes the staff wear. It's BYO 2 & there aren't many of those left. I'm just heading there now to pick up a Sunday Takeaway of Angel wings, crispy BBQ honey duck and pork fried rice. yummy
