Plenty to choose from in this all in one kind of shop ranging from food - pizzas, burgers, fish and chips to cabinet food and sandwiches and coffee to soft drinks and medicines and other essentials. This is right opposite the Thermal pools so convenient to grab a bite before you head inside as I don't recall seeing any food options in the thermal pools facility.
We tried their chicken burger and fish and chips both of which were about average for the price.

Best fish n chips on our trip. Light crispy batter and Cod cooked to perfection. Great chips, not over cooked. We got the cod n chips with lemon wedges. They bought it out to our table. Great friendly customer service also. Excellent!!
Had breakfast here, i got the french toast and it was really good and came quickly. Also just a good metro-mart đź‘Ť
We were on the hunt for some bacon and came across The Log Cabin, discovered a wonder inside. Pretty much everything you need or want exists in this shop. From a cooked full english breakfast too grocery items and everything in between; fish and chips, milkshakes, even a kite for the kids or ponchos for the unexpected rain! We ended up getting a delicious pizza, it was hands down the best we have had our whole stay (on a cheeky side note it was also the cheapest).
The shop itself is well presented and everyone there is friendly and welcoming. You can sit inside or out, really couldn't recommend it more!! Apologies Vish if I've spelt your name wrong but your shop is fantastic and you made our night!
Living in Dunedin most of my life it’s fair to say I’ve had more than my fair share of Blue Cod. I’ve travelled 30 odd km to eat decent blue cod at a favourite fishmonger/fish and chip shop. Here in Hanmer Springs is the very BEST blue cod, not just myself, but my husband both AGREED it’s the “best thing I ever ate” . We will be making sure to get a couple more meals of your amazing blue cod before we leave here. The fish alone is a huge draw card and we will be travelling distance once again to our NEW favourite fish and chip shop.
Our first visit to MetroMart Hanmer Springs (The Log Cabin) turned out to be a delightful one.
We were looking for icecream on a hot summer Saturday. When we went inside the MetroMart, we realized that they served not only packaged icecreams but also scoops - that too Kapiti Icecream as well as Tip Top Icecream.
The service was friendly. There was place to sit in the shop - tables and chairs - where we could relish our icecreams.
A staff member said theirs was the only place in Hanmer serving Kapiti Icecream scoops!
Got the Blue Cod an chips with tartar and lemon. Outstanding, cooked to perfection, hot crispy chips, beaut battered cod. Best fish n chips I've had in a looong time. Great coffee too.đź‘Ť

The trusty log cabin is always there for sustaining nourishment after a few Conical Thrills. With a rumbling in our bellies after a spontaneous thunderstorm forced closure of the pools, we didn’t have to look any further than right across the road. With a menu to cater for a variety of tastes and dietary requirements, we were left satisfied with crispy hot chips, a succulent vege burger and a classic caramel Rocky Road for dessert. Exquisite service and well presented picnic tables made for a delightful dining experience. Keep it up!
