Review Bikanervala Henderson - Henderson

Bianca T
Saturday and Sunday, All you can eat buffet. All food is vegetarian, please ask the staff regarding vegan food. Great price for what you get. The food is very tasty and the price is exceptional for what you get. Drinks are an add-on however water is provided. It feels a bit cramped however you can seat small families or friends groups. There are no bookings and you may need to wait outside to get a seat. Toilets are clean and well kept.

Went in last week man this place never disappoints me.. but they really need to work on Filter coffee. Love this place.. I always go here with my family. Reasonable pricing. Reasonable quantity never has let me down on any dishes. Bring the authentic flavours of Northern-India. Always my go. And will always come back..

Chole bhature was 5/5, ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Samosa was 5/5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Jalebi ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Masala dosa 2/5 ⭐️⭐️ I would surely visit again for mostly north indian cusine but wont recommend for south indian dishes.

A good thing about this place is that everything is vegetarian so everything on the menu is fair game. The menu itself it quite large and so it can be very intimidating particularly if you're not sure on what to get. I ended up getting the Henderson Thali to try and taste a bit of everything. I ordered at the counter but it did look like you are able to order at the table, just scan the QR code on the table. It took about 30 minutes to get the plate. Although there were;t many people eating in there were a few getting takeaways. What was exciting is that the food was served by a robot. the naan was nice but it was a bit raw in some places. I wasn't a fan of the pickles since they were a bit bitter. Everything else was amazing. the papri chat in the middle was my favourite. Crispy papri and the topping were quite balanced and delicious. I enjoyed all the curries that came with it. I did like that it was a different protein in each one, paneer, chickpea, lentil, potato and Manchurian dumpling. Each curry had its own flavour and it was really nice. The whole plate was quite large and really filling. I also got a Gulab jamun for dessert which was also quite nice. It was a nice place to have vegetarian Indian food which is different from ordinary ones.

Been coming here for years. Polite, friendly service. Generally good food. Dahi puri, lassi, etc. are good. Bhel puri could use some improvement. Good selection of mithai. The robot waiter is a fun novelty for the kids.

We had this Baahubali Thali which was really amazing and is enough for 2 people. And also had Samosa's which were very well flavored and well cooked.

Best value lunch in Auckland. All you can eat Indian veg buffet of north, south and Indo/chinese Indian food. Small but perfectly rounded mix of dishes and condiments plus bread for $20. No indentification on the dishes so it's all a bit of a surprise but we didnt find a dish we didn't like. The pea curry a standout! Very friendly staff here too. Gets busy, there may be a small wait but we were looked after well.

Such a happy atmosphere this restaurant has! Found this place very close to where I stay and well I must say it reminded me of India. Having visited many Indian restaurants in Auckland, this is the only place with such Indian vibes, it feels like you're in Delhi. We ordered chole bhature and sweet lassi, both the dish and beverage tasted really good. Light on pocket with a vast variety and various options. A must visit if you're craving for some chat, lassi and North Indian food.

Had the Pani Puri's and dahi papdi chaat along with masala dosa. The Puri was not fresh and slightly stale however with all the ingredients mixed together, it tasted well. The dahi papdi chaat was nice but felt it could have some papdis in it. Altogether it was a nice experience

Huge variety of Indian vegetarian foods. Everything we had was good. Raj kachori chat was the best, even chilli idli was nice, spring rolls we're average. Fast service, clean toilets and lots of seating. Other branches don't come close to this.
Nikita
Amazing food, friendly staff and great customer service.

I went to this restaurant today for the first time in Henderson. It's the best Indian vegetarian food I've eaten in New Zealand. The food was so fresh & all the meals came together. I loved the utensils the food was served in as I wanted to take them home hehe. Please don't change your chef. I'll be back for more. :)

So good I’ve been missing proper traditional samosas since moving to NZ (where I’m from in the UK you can get them on every other street!) and I was not disappointed. They were delicately spiced, crispy and fresh. The menu is extensive and looks as though it has some original fusions. The whole shop/cafe is clean and well organised. I can’t wait to go back and try more, I’ve got my eye on the paneer pizza

It's our local and we are there at least once a week. Freshest Vadais, yummiest tomato chutney and after a couple of times they remember our special requests!

Totally wastage of money we went for buffet last week there were hair in naan and they behaved very normal after knowing the truth. Staff was very rude.
Érica Nicole D'Souza
This place is lame. Their chole batura came with some weird thick bread (almost like Turkish bread). And their sev puri came with dahi definitely not Bombay chaat as advertised. Pav Bhaji was just a blended concoction of anything but what a pav bhaji should consist of. Also not generous with the butter on the pav. So disappointed
Romana Coleman
10/10 would eat here again I work across the road and stop in to treat myself every now and then if you’re not use very spicy Indian food I’d go for mild but I love medium, their butter paneer masala

We went here today for breakfast at 10.05am. We ordered Bhathure chole and lady told me it will take more than an hour because chef arrived late and it will take time for oil to get ready. I have asked if there is anything else we can much on and ask for Kachori and been advised that yes we can but they are from previous day. This is really very bad service if you guys open at 10.00am make sure you are ready by that time. We wait there for half an hour outside to come inside your restaurant and after that you gave us wait time of another hour!

The Friday special of makki di roti and sarson ka saag was absolutely amazing. And a great desi coffee to finish the meal.

Very bad experience me and my wife had today, pani puri was 7.80 Dollars, it was ok but ask for pani puri water, they charged 3 dollars just for water
We visited Bikanervala Henderson for their Wednesday Chaat special. We chose Somosa Chaat today which was truly amazing and great value at $6. Staff were friendly and helpful. Our food arrived promptly. Will return for more Chaat goodness:)

I am regular visitor there. Liked their individual items. Make ki roti and sarso ka saag is best in town. Also liked their chole bhature. I try to avoid their buffet as for some reason every time I tried I get a very bad stomach bloating that's why I order only individual item there.

Good place to go to when in a mood of trying variety of taste in one place.
Chaat, Samosa, kachodi snacks.
Mains like chole bhature and Dosa.
They have something matching to taste buds for everyone.
Lalit
This is one of the best place to get some authentic indian snacks. chhole bhature and chinese bhel is one of my favourite from dish bikanervala.
Purnima C Nair
Food review : We ordered Pani poori, Dahi puri n Pav Bhaji . Amazing chaat I have had so far in Auckland. Reminds me of Chaat which we get in India. Perfectly good quantitywise and qualitywise.
Authentic ambience with very friendly staff.
Service was quick n food was fresh.
Would visit again for sure !!!

arrogant customer service they dont even know how to talk with customer..they need some training on how to talk with customer , its not acceptable at all...😡😡😡

Probably our favourite "veg" Indian restaurant to go to.
Mostly get the dosa, vada sambar, samosa chaat & schezwan momo's which are pretty awesome.

Also try the chole bhature from here, you truly can't go wrong 😊

Not a fan of the pani puri here, but I must say the "falooda", "ras Malai" and "kesar badam milk" are definitely a 10/10.

Was pretty impressed with the variety of food on their menu but have honestly eaten may be 7,8 things from here but hoping to try more.

Tried their "Punjabi" buffet the other day : $15 p/p
- The dal tadkha & paneer mutter was really good to have with the jeera rice, pickle & raitha (curd). Wasn't a fan of the veggies & roti.

Ambience : 4/5 (Never noisy)
Staff : 4/5
Food : 4/5
Creativity : 4/5 (As they've opened a store next door with fresh fruit ice cream etc)

Went there this evening again (29.05.19)

My partner enjoyed the punjabi thali.
I ordered the dahi bhalla, veg chow main & schezwan momos. All though the momos used to be 8 in a dish, now they are 5 in a dish 😥
All dishes I must say were a 5/5

Overall : ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Rashi🍕🍗🥗🍔🍟🧁
ordered the chocalate cake from their desert side, it had a very unpleasant taste of old butter, it tasted nothing like chocolate at all!
ordered pani puri, samosa, paneer pakora and the special thali, everything tasted pretty average. service was super slow as we were the only customers at that time! took at least 15 minutes for the thali to arrive and yeah they had to be reminded to get the samosas to our table🙄 a bit more training on customer service would work better for this place as there was no smile or greeting on entry by the young girl at the counter.
Hardysweden
I had a horrible experience with this restaurant and completely wasted my money. They forgot to include a part of my order, they brought the food cold. I asked for it to be medium spicy and it came tasting like sugar. The paratha was cold and flavourless. This is the second time I have bad food from this place, and both times I have taken 1-2 bites and thrown it away. They probably only get business because the other Indian restaurants don't do vegetarian only. I will never make the same mistake and order from this place again. rude staff
Jenny.nguyen1403
Really piss off with the service just received from this place...And it was not the 1st time but 3rd time...
They freaking claimed that they OPEN TILL 10 PM..by 8PM,staffs put all chairs on the table, giving the sign for FREAKING GET LOST...

Last time,we invited friends for dinner and this thing happened...feel really embarrassed....
And Today, We couldn’t able to enjoy the food that we paid for...at 8 freaking PM

TBH, they don’t deserve even 1 star..If it has 0 star, I will definitely choose it for this place...
It is not the service that you should provide to your customers..worst service ever !!!

Good work Bikanervala !! I hope your business keeps getting quiet in the future

One of my favourite local place to go to. Food it authentically Indian. Everything there is very nice and value for money. Must give it a try!

The good is always great. Great variety and they keep adding different things which is awesome. The only negative I’ve experienced is the customer service at the reception

I had a bad experience with Bikanervala . Henderson recently . I responded to an ad about kitchen hand needed for them. The employer asked my son to come for a trial , after 5 hours of cleaning , washing dishes etc he was sent home with some left over Nan bread and curry . The employer never bothered to call him back to say he got the job or not. When I messaged him couple of times he responded back and said it was 5 hours free trial so he won't pay any wage for the work done. So beware people where you go and eat or look for job. Its the sweat of unpaid workers. An employer who got no integrity!! Just writing the review to warn others so nobody else will be a victim

This Place is Nothing in Compared to the Bikanervala in Mt Roskill. The Quality Standard and taste is not too Good.I live very close to this Restaurant but I still Prefer to Go to Mt Roskill Bikanervala.

Friendly Staff :-)
Poor Service
Tasteless Food
Whatever you eat don’t Order Item from Chaap Menu. Better eat raw Chaap out of Can.
I told them its Tasteless and they advised me that’s how Afghani Chaap should be. I am from Delhi & exactly know how Afghanistan Chaap is.
They took it back tried to fix it but I would like to say to the Chef “ Tumse Na Ho Payegaa”.
Went on Last day of Navaratri
My Wife Ordered Navratri Thali
They said it’s gonna take 20 mins
And finally after going to the counter after 51mins waiting for it they said Sorry, your 1 is coming out now.

I assume that everyone might be aware of the place now. It’s just a formality of writing the review.

Located in Henderson on Universal Drive; it’s close to the Lincoln Road.

It’s quite spacious in a way that approx 30-40 seater can be accommodated in the restaurant.

Food: I have almost tried everything since last 3 years they had opened up. From Chole Bhature to Puri Bhaji to Chaats to South Indian to Samosas to Lassi. I have been a regular at the place quite often. I have even tried their new items from their new menu.

Recently they have increased their price however sometimes the quality of the food goes down. It’s all depends on how busy they are.

Overall I would rate it pretty average as I being a complete vegetarian and close to my house; seems to be a handy option for me.

Really good Indian food, we’re regulars at this place. The food is authentic Indian which is great, desserts are nice as well. I don’t usually eat jalebi because I find it too sweet but since trying theirs I’ve actually started to like it.
Dipesh
Wanted to try something veg, this place has good Indian vibe, Ordered Chole Bhature which was good as per my Delhi wife, very less oil in Bhature; might be even baked not sure and Chole were well cooked with Indian spices. Rava Masala Dosa was average but doable. Lots of free parking near by.

Worst place. Worst food and customer service especially the lady on the counter.
Been there 5 times and had a bad experience every time. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
Shinal Shivanghni
I usually always get veg food from there, last time I went and ordered my usual paneer burger obviously, waited around 45 mins .. fair enough because it was quite busy but after receiving my burger I took one bite and took it back because the usual paneer fillet wasn’t there, it tasted like chick pea flour with potatoes and a bit of paneer crumbled and mixed. I went back and told the lady that this is not what I have been getting usually there’s a thick layer of paneer, she started fussing and saying that “you have probably had it somewhere else”, I kindly ate what ever was there and never went back.. if they change their ingredients/ recipe they could truthfully admit it rather than blaming the REGULAR customers.. I’ve seen a similar review as well 👎

We entered the store and were amazed at all the delicious looking sweets and snacks. But sadly the SERVICE was NOT as amazing. Not ONE staff greeted us or asked if we wanted anything. There were three female staffs there, so atleast one could have said hello can i help you?!!

After deciding what we wanted we ordered from one of the older ladies and she was ok, smiling and all but as soon as she turns away her face turns so angry looking like she didnt want to be there doing the work...

We ordered some sweets, mango lassi, dahi Puri, paneer pakora and a dal kachori. The dal kachori and paneer pakora were taken to the back to be reheated.

The lady that prepared the dahi puri had only one glove on and held the puris in her NON GLOVED hands while using the gloved hand to put the things in..... what the point of wearing the glove if you are touching the puri without gloves anyway?

Everything tasted ok nothing too mind blowingly tasty... dal kachori was probably the best out of everthing we tried. The puri in the dahi puri was not fresh and i saw her open a pack of pre fried puri to make them. It was STALE and not crispy tasting. Here is a picture of the presentation of the dahi puris. Just slopped on a plate. The sauces and juice was everywhere and made the puris extremely soft too fast.

I will however try them again hopefully next time is a better experience because im positive they can do better.

Terrible service!! I purchased 2 sweets that were both stale. I politely asked to exchange the sweets (which were only $1 each) or a refund. They continued to tell me that they tasted fine (at least three ladies took a bite out of my already bitten sweet) when they most definitely were not fresh. After about 5 minutes of debating they finally decided to exchange me with only 1 sweet. They did not apologise and were very reluctant to give me an exchange. I was absolutely appalled. I do not recommend this place AT ALL as their sweets are not fresh and their service is beyond degraded .
Drpallaviwange
Highly disappointed. I would not like to give even 1 star to this place.
There was a big piece of PLASTIC in the butter nan we ordered and even a hair strand in the bhatura (chole bhatura).
I firmly advise not to visit this place as you don’t know what you will find in the food you order.

My friends & I have been going to Bikanervala once a week. For the past 2 years.. Food is good but we have been overcharged everytimd we went there.. This was done by the male owner himself. My family, friends & I have stopped going there. We all got refunded on the last day we went there and all 4 of us were over charged. He did this all the time we went there to eat.. Really pathetic... Will never go there again. I suggest everyone who goes there to check their change, Eftpos amount & ask for a receipt even if you are eating in. Thanks A very disappointed customer.

great food, but extremely long wait.... 45 minute wait for simple take away dish when mildly busy, speaking Indian helps! but again I have to say food was great with much more authenticity than most Indian joints theses days

Very yummy sweets and menu food. Always comes out hot and lots of flavour. Is becoming one of our regular places to eat :). Dahi puri is so good 😊

Food was good, even if it was swimming in oil. Waited almost an hour for food as we had booked on-line and they didn't have our order. Had to ask us what we had ordered. Worst of all never even offered an apology and/or discount for their terrible customer service. Go to Chapati it is just down the road.

Worst service ever today i came to have dinner and overheard the staff swearing at the customers. when i went to the manager and told her, in return she started to scream at me and said "my staff would never do such thing". The food was also cold and tasteless. Never recommend to anyone.

One fine Monday Eve me and my friends decided to visit this place ,as I visited this place couple of times last year for fresh paneer tikka and chai .

But this time it was really disappointing we ordered :
1.Dosa :By the time it was on table was cold and soggy
2.paneer tikka : Paneer quality is degraded ,as it too hard eat .
3.Thokla : Thokla was too moist
4.cholay bhature : Bhaturay was dam oily .
5.Ras malai:it was over sweeten feels .

Apart from falooda drink ( which they have just 2 as they ran out ) nothing is as per expected .

Shaneez
Not happy with their service, I ordered a paneer burger (came with fries) and the paneer wasn’t even there, I couldn’t even taste it. It tasted like potato and peas and cumin with way too much tomato sauce and the actual paneer patty was dry. when I called the lady (which was the owner) she started arguing with me claiming that “she grated the paneer and that it is in there” but when it comes to flavour it wasn’t there. She didn’t even offer a refund or replaced the burger with another item from the menu. Please fix your customer service!!!!!!!
Ron
It's a good veg restaurant. Delicious food and good customer service but I have given 3.5 due to quantity of food which they have reduced over the period. I have reduced now visiting this pllace for the same reason. I had a special Thali for $10 get one roti and a small cup (a coffee cup size) of rice which would fill 5-6 year old kids tummy and like this there are few other items I have seen the reduced quantity.
May be the restaurant owners need to observe and learn from popular one in Sandringham. They provide qualty and quantity of food for a reasonable price attracts big numbers of customers for sure.

Today Oct 25th was their opening anniversary/birthday special of snacks for just $2/plate. Ate the best haryali kabaab & dahi kabaabs I have ever eaten in 50 years. The dahi puri was superb too. Just $2 per plate of 3 kabaabs. Enjoyed the yummy rasmalai excellent service - many thanks to the generous owner/host. Plenty of free parking & close to the Lincoln Road Motorway exit. The deals are on till later tonight. This is definitely my favourite vegetarian restaurant.

I took lunch and it was good. They have some thali I’ll recommend to you all to try . Its worth to eat . Food presentation was ok and service was very bad. You can’t find everything on table coz its self service. One sweet was not fresh .
Set in a favourable location, this place is a good treat to drive to, for and from - went in with pretty mediocre expectations, came out pleasantly surprised :)

I'm conflicted on the ambience and their interior presentation... half good and half not... you enter and it looks like a typical Indian sweet & snacks store, and there's the seating area on the right side - tables & chairs (didn't like them, felt like they belonged in India or a public park or something). The steel plates & glasses, though, suited the food... so, I'd say they were likeable. Having the cutlery and tissues at the back where you have to walk by other tables to get to and get in between meals is one of the dumbest things ever and very annoying!

A good menu with many options for snacking or dining on, despite being a vegetarian place.
Order & pay upfront, the staff were friendly and helpful.

The Pani Puri was pretty good despite the liquid being actually cold, but the Butter Masala Dosa and Paneer Dosa were DELICIOUS! Absolutely amazing, I couldn't stop stuffing myself despite having been pretty full to begin with... and, I typically dislike South Indian cuisine!

We're looking forward to try some proper vegetarian dishes from here soon. All in all, the place could definitely do with quite some improvements but the food was super impressive!
Jattboi7
Absolutely ridiculous! Brought aloo kulche with dal raita and salad and this is the tiny box or dal i get iv been to other branches and they have a proper portion of everything but this is just STUPID this is basically 4 spoons of dal what am i meant to eat with that? And theres no salad!
I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND GOING TO THIS PLACE AS THEY ARE BECOMING VERY CHEAP!
Puninder Singh
Went on 11 August 2017 with Uma Menon ...it was our first experience there and it turned out to be 8 on 10. Out of all the items that we ordered, we did not find tandoori momos actually tandoori...it's taste was not up to the mark. However, palak kofta, saag and makki Di roti with Gur were mouth watering...all of the above...u cannot go out without having delicious and scrumptious...must go and check out this place...

Excellent and good food. Best part is they serve food without onion and garlic. Order was served on time. Friendly staff. Really enjoyed their new fusion dishes.

Being Dairy free it quite difficult to eat out ... i find this place has a few options to cater to my needs. Friendly staff except 1 older lady ... who doesnt really acknowledge you ..but other than that its a pretty good place kid friendly too ... cant ask for more.
Ravi
The customer service is good here. They have a good range of Indian sweets from savoury to sweet sweets. You can take your friends or family there in the west.

Nice.. not a bad choice for west Auckland if you are looking for Indian street food variety. Very close to mall and free car park. Chole bature is nice

Awesome food and the staff have been really helpful seeing I cant understand the Indian menu. I'd highly recommend it for a cheap yummy place to eat.

This place gives u no VALUE FOR Money. Quantity for take aways is v poor plus dodgy as twice we have had tummy upsets. Basically all the chains of Bikanerwala are full of Rude staffs & unhygienic food.
Price should be reduced as much as the quantity of food has gone down even their takeaway boxes are so tiny!! Don't be surprised if u r charged an extra 50 cents for a wee bit of chutney😀😀
Andy
Very poor quality and not consistent. Poor service and attitude of the owners. Needs to improve or will loose loyal customers. Plenty of Indian places around don't waste your time and money there. And for sure check your bills or you get ripped off.
Bhumika Kotak
Cheaters they charge$1 over . We took fastfood didnt checked the bill. Just came home and saw she charged more. The owner is unethical and try to cheat the customers. Dont know how many is earning a day. Not recommended all of you just check your bills when you go home please its needed.

Bikanervala is an Indian restaurant which specialises in sweets. Their restaurant boasts an impressive cabinet display which appears to attract plenty of customers.

Last night I ordered gajar halwa and two samosas. The samosas had a perfect texture; crisp pastry stuffed with firm aloo. The flavor was also very nice, and was complimented with tamarind ketchup.

The gajar halwa was less satisfying, the carrots were cut too small and didn't maintain a warm temperature. Sweetness was also lacking.

I will come back and try more of the menu, as I don't feel I've tried enough sweets.

Was my favourite go to place for chats and thali cravings. Amazingly cheap deals and delicious food. The daily deals are worth and you will always leave the place nostalgic! ❤
Prem
The food is great BUT!!!! watch out for your bills they always seem to overcharge customers. Especially the owner lady the husband and the son seem to be okay.. I still go there as there is no other veg options out west...
Daniel Smith
amazing food. best Indian vegetarian restaurant in auckland.
Thali options are amazing. Paneer dishes and chat are my fav!
thanks for the amazing service!!!
Emily
Came for dinner last night after seeing some pics on Instagram and was pleasantly surprised! We didn't know what anything was on the menu but the owner was very helpful and recommended the thali, mushroom masala and pani puri. Mushroom curry had a super tasty thick gravy, husband rated this a close 10/10. Thali had a lovely sample of a few curries and things although we found the sweets a little weird, too sweet, I guess we're just not used to Indian sweets. Can't wait to come back for the buffet and sample some more dishes!

Awesome food 🥘 can't forget that taste they sure know how to create tasty 😋 food. Love ❤️ Takatak paneer. Keep up the good work guys. Ambience not that great but who cares when food is that good.

Did you know guys Bikanerwalla rips you off everytime you buy sweets from them!! They don't consider the weight of boxes so every time you buy you get 100 gms less or approximately $3 less (@ of $30/kg). On top of it manager has no trust in their staff after it's weighed and packed the Manager rechecks the weight - conveniently the weighing machine at her counter always weighs more (so you end up paying more).
Very disappointed with Manager's attitude and Service there - lady by name Gagan. Not a Fair practice!!
Common Guys don't rip off customers this way!!!

This is a good place to eat all vegetarian indian. The dishes always taste slightly different which I think is great. The staff are very friendly and greet u with a smile. Naans are real good.

Being from Henderson, we were very excited when this place opened, however, the joy was short-lived. We had purchased rasgullas from this place, consumed a few and and kept the rest in the fridge. Next day the syrup was all slimy and entire stuff had to be thrown out. Went back to the shop but the only response was a tepid 'sorry', nothing else. This again happened with other sweets that we found to be stale. I suspect they stock up sweets from supplier but don't bother to check the'best before' date.Have since decided to go all the way to Bikanerwala, Mt. Roskill.

They have a good variety of sweets and the staff was very friendly. Parking space is ample and it is located at a peaceful location. The food say freshly prepared but the taste did not leave the impact where one can say I am going to come back for it again.
This is good place when you have craving for Indian food but if I have some other option, then I would not really go back.
The buffet they have has a good variety in affordable prices which is very popular. I would advise choosing buffet because the other option did not go well for me.

Amazing Indian food place, good authentic food with lots of variety to choose from. On our first visit, we did mentioned about the quality of rice was not great and on our next visit, we can see the improvement in rice quality. These guys are here for successful restaurant and that's why they listen to critic and improved it straight away. This is one of our favourite places for the weekend lunch...

I have had a terrible experience. I had the worst food poisoning shortly after my meal in the Henderson branch. Would never recommend anyone to go there and never go there myself again. I really had high hopes for the place but clearly they can't even cook the food safe enough to eat.
Sofia Rask
Like really...going here did not just open up my mind but if blew my mind out the window! AWESOME tasty food, cheap, all vegetarian and really friendly staff! I realised how little I know about the rest of the word and how much I would like to see it. I love authentic places like this! A golden hidden gem does not get better than this. They had a big cabinet full of Indian sweets as well. Did not try any this time but will for sure be back.

This is my favorite vegetarian Indian place I go with my family and vegetarian friends or on my vegetarian days as I live near by and I am very happy that Bikanervala has opened in Henderson, yummy sweets . I don't expect a high treatment from staffs or owners, I love the fact that it's very comfortable being there, family and kids friendly, plus there is a word called "COMMUNICATION " this is very important in NZ, so the moral of the visit here is communication the staffs speak English & Hindi, very friendly, try to communicate and not judge the place, staffs or owners. I go for food and to review on food, not to judge place & people, hygiene is looked in by council anyway. Foodies try their other restaurant TIKKA TANGO, kati rolls to die for.....my personal opinion....😊

I was going in with high expectations as bikanerwala in india is amazing. But upon entering, all that was visible was dirty tables and unwelcoming staff (no one attended to me until 5minutes). I ordered a masala dosa and chole bhatura. Disappointed with both items. One was soggy (dosa) and the channa tasted old and off. Staff did nothing when I told them. Will definitely not be going back and will not recommend anyone.

Great weekend buffet. Loved all the options available (particularly the dahl and paneer curries, and the freshly made naan bread was delicious). Nice attentive staff who kept checking if we needed more naans throughout our lunch service. We left so satisfied! One thing they could improve on: food could be WAY spicier. My European friend asked for spicy when ordering his curry but we would call it barely mild. Apart from that, still very tasty! I look forward to the next visit.

Have eaten lunch here a handful of time over the past few weeks, today I had the Monday special Thali and it was incredible. I have had the Chhole Bhature, samosas, Dosa, and Saag. Best indian food I've had in years. Its all vegetarian, super fresh, real food. They also serve fresh juices, and incredible sweets, freshest I've had in Auckland. GREAT service, lovely staff, very clean. Just an all around 10/10, I just so enjoyed my experience here. I just hope they get a fantastic following for their amazing food as they deserve it. Couldn't rave about it more. 😍😋🍴DEVOTED REGULAR!! PS. I didn't take any pictures because I had devoured the food, so delicious!

Good food and excellent customer service. I come here on a regular basis and the food is always delicious. And, they even give green chillies which are my favourites with any meal.😀

Purchased takeaways for dinner last week from here. Got two different 'thalis' which came with assorted curries, naan, popadum, pickle and a piece of sweet. Definitely great tasting food. Wasn't hot for Indian and great variety of curries. Reasonable price for what was included in the thalis. They only do vegetarian meals and also have a sweet shop which is delectable

Went to this place many times in the evenings with friends. It is more like a food court eatery than a restaurant, but still feels good due to space, good size tables, sofas, etc.
Stuff is manly behind the counter only, so not much to say here.
The menu is not organized properly, at least to my western mind it looks like a mixture of everything, even some Chinese dishes jumped in.
I order only paratha dishes (aloo paratha and paneer paratha). I think it is good. Served with raita and mango pickles.
I am sure I will go there again. It is a easy place for quick eats and meeting friends.

Heard about the chat festival on the radio and went to try out this place. We decided the chat items that we wanted to try out and went to order, we were then informed that chat festival is only till 4pm . This was annoying as people usually eat chat as an evening snack at around 4-7 pm so the timing was off.
Still we ordered our food . The price was on the higher side but the quantity was in tune with the prices. The food tasted nice . We tried both north indian and south indian dishes, both tasted fresh which was nice. Overall I would like to visit this place if I come to this part of Auckland.
