Worth the trip for the view alone. Enjoyed a 2 course lunch, selected from a small menu. The food was delicious and intriguing, with obvious care and skill on display. The service was excellent. What made this meal exceptional was the additional effort the chef made to cater for my keto diet, and this was not at my request- he did it voluntarily, including baking his own keto bread rolls which were the best I’ve ever had, and making avocado butter. The smoked thar was lovely, and the cider braised pork was superb. Please check this place out, they deserve to succeed!
We went for a work function, and the food was outstanding. They laid out a browsing table with an awesome array of cold meats, salads and antipasto items, followed by the main course of three amazing smoked meats, salmon, pork and brisket. The brisket was probably the best I've ever had! Simple and delicious. Spoke to the chef who told me he has two specialist smoking BBQs he had made in Texas, so not surprising he's getting good results!

A first class international dining experience. The food is divine and the presentation is pure artistry. Add a venue with outstanding views and brilliant service, this makes it one of the best food experiences I’ve had.

What a lovely place. Owner, Staff and Chef are really amazing. They want to provide the best possible service they can and they really do. The food is on Michelin level. We paid 75$ for a seven course menu which was diverse, creative and unbelievably tasty. The Salmon was on another level. Incredible. Keep up the hard work. You guys are doing a wonderful job.
P.S. The Chef and Wife used to cook for the Royal Family of Jordan for the last 6 years. They know what they are doing. Trust me
We had the 7 course tasting menu and every course was superb. The highlights for me were the pork dish with pork done three ways, kawakawa sorbet with olive oil, and the dessert plate with a selection of fantastic sweet delectables including a perfect vanilla panacotta. Service and setting were also excellent. Best meal I've eaten in this year and possibly last year too.
Fantastic restaurant! We opted for the 7 course degustation menu. Some of the best food we have had in NZ. Beautiful fresh and local produce, with so much thought put into the menu. Friendly staff with a family atmosphere. A must do when in Kaikoura!
World class views and amazing food to compliment. I am sure there not many places in the world with such a view. We had the 3 -course menu. The menu is well thought out and Wine pairing with meals was spot on. We had a flawless dining experience. Well done OKW team!
After talking to a couple of locals, we decided to travel the short distance to this amazing restaurant! What a fantastic evening that would be impossible to improve on our experience, including, location, view, food, service, actually everything.
We have done a number of degustation meals before around NZ, but this was the best so far. There was no arguing the food was great, the surprise, taste, presentation.
But what made the night was the atmosphere, friendliness, and enthusiasm from Rob and Rosie to provide an unforgettable night.
We considered it great value for money. When we are back in Kaikoura we will be booking in! (and bringing a bottle of something nice to toast the end of the night)
