Great service great staff great food. They do everything from sit down meals inside and outb to takeaway burgers and fish and chips to ice-creams and milk shakes. Also have Jimmy's pies and sandwiches.. it is situated right beside the A2O cycle trail so is a great place to stop for lunch or tea before you continue on your journey..
There is something special about this cafe. Beautiful down to earth staff, great selection of food, coffee to die for and 5 star service. The Maori Gentleman and the gorgeous lady on the coffee machine went above and beyond to ensure my brother and I were looked after. Thank you for giving us a great experience, we will remember you and look forward to visiting again next time we pass through.
BLT sandwich is the best I have had. Was so fresh and the tomato wasn't soft and yukky.
Only reason I didn't give 5 stars is the thickshake needs more ice cream. Protein cream thickshakes are the best if they are thick. Cromwell still holds that record.
The guy behind the counter on labour day did a great job considering how busy it was and he was busy doing ice creams and thickshakes.😊
Quite honestly got a little scared when entered through the "deli" doors. I don't usually get coffee at the same place where you can get fish and chips, etc.
However, the coffee place is to your right, nice, clean, delicious.
Just a little more work on the latte art and maybe a spoon with your coffee :)
Actually the best takeaway flat white I've had in a while, and the Cranberry & pistachio slice is both memorable and addictive! 🥰
This cafe and takeaway spot was a fantastic end to a super long day of riding on our A2O trip. Great food and friendly staff. They even kept the cafe part open longer for us so we could order coffees. Thank you!

I must admit I had preconceptions of what I thought I would find to eat in Kurow but the Coffee was superb and the sandwich I had had all fresh tasty ingredients. The young lady that served us was so friendly, genuine and helpful. I cannot recommend The River Cafe in Kurow enough. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
