Yep I'd come back. Battered fish was good. Chips were a bit dry... Maybe overcooked? The menu isn't very clear.
This is the best place ever to get food at Leigh. Every time i go up to Leigh I go here at least once. There food is the best. we have a bach next to the owners. They are lovely people. I am very biased though towards eating the Hawaiian Burger and the kumara chips
Best fish and chips I've ever had!! Beautifully cooked, pulled pork burger was delicious! Chips cooked to perfection will definitely be coming back for more.
Stayed nearby at the weekend and aside from the sawmill this is the place to go. We had breakkie an dinner here and overall all good stuff. Great morning coffee an b.e.a.ts all around though not a fan of the standard burger bun it was in but yum I took off extra sauces BTW so nice yolky egg and avocado . night before we had take Away mixing grilled fish and battred and chips . nicely salted crispy chips and loved the grilled fish option cooked well and tasty and burgers all went down a treat as standard fish and chippie food
If the burgers from here decided to turn into a human being it would come out sexy like a Tom Hardy, Lucky I am made of money will be eating here regularly.

Delicious fresh fish fried to perfection. Not usually a fan of tarakihi but this was definitely freshly caught. The piece of fish was chunky and beautiful flaky with a terrifically crispy batter. At $7 the price point is not cheap but it is exceptionally fresh (I.e. must have been caught that morning) so I'll be back again
Went there a few weekends ago and absolutely loved their calamari! It's beautiful Asian flavors were perfectly balanced and the calamari was perfectly cooked and melted in your mouth. Definitely the best calamari my husband and I have had and we've traveled extensively in South East Asia.
Crispy battered fresh seafood - yum yum! We had snapper, gurnard, scallops, mussels, calamari and kumara fries. Leigh Eats is a great spot up north for a quick meal. It's even got a shaded area with tables where you can relax and enjoy the great fish and chips.
The seafood was fresh and the portions were decent. The best part was that they weren't overly battered. The kumara fries were excellent - many places tend to burn them but they had the timing down pat!
Prices are reasonable for the quality you get.
Multiple visits under my hat now- coffee is the best around. Fish and chips are awesome. Ceviche- excellent. Bacon and egg sarnie for breakfast, mmmmmmm. Get in there!
Awesome cafe. Really friendly staff, great coffee. My partner got a burger and said it was “the best burger he has had in NZ”. I got gluten free toasty and gluten free muffin and they were delicious. Very reasonably priced for the quality of food and lots of gluten free options!

#1 fish in chips in New Zealand. I'm on the hunt of the best fish and chips here, and out of 22 places visited so far, Leigh Eats still beats all of then.
No bathroom, but public toilets are nearby.
The only "bad" thing is that when I was there it wasn't super clean, outdoor patio was fulfilled with thrash lying everywhere and the bin was overflowing.
Still, 5 stars for exceptional battered fried fish. Chips were very good, but definitely not the best :)
Delicious Fish n Chips, plus points for the malt vinegar bottle that's free to use! The burger was great too. Will def be back.
Another good fish & chips eats little on the expensive side but quality of fish is high, good coffee with your normal standard food options from display counter. Petrol station/mechanic one side, and general store on the other so not a bad place to break down.

View at Goat Island to eat it couldn't have been better. Highly recommended for a day out.

Half cup chips - $2.50 bit stale
Salt & pepper squid - $16.50 personally prefer a batter that is not so thick, as you tend to lose the squid which should be the shining star. Slaw and sauce was nice
