Quite an interesting bar. I enjoyed the food and the portions were huge and great value for money. Service was a bit questionable, the man that served us regularly sat down and had a drink with friends?customers? He was nice but you have to order at the front.. they don’t come to you. Would come back again. Went and saw the deer and that was cool.

Great drink selection. The museum was a lovely bonus, and to see the deer in the paddock out back was a treat.

Best bangers and mash I've had in a long time. Awesome little pub on state highway 1. Friendly staff with a good atmosphere.

The Deer Story Museum Bar and Cafe souvenir shop has a large range of deer related product including deer skin handbags, clothing, hats, etc. Deer antler carvings and nick nacs, painting, books, walking sticks, tee-shirts, ornaments, jewelery, etc. (mostly deer related). The cafe is excellent with a huge selection meats and venison. Highly recommended
I only give this place a 3 because I feel the vegetables could of been cooked alot longer the potatoes were still a little raw as were the carrots. It wouldn't stop me from trying again though the meal was a decent size and fair price very pub style layout but kinda welcoming

Must to have a look museum part $12.5. This is absolutely worth.
Sadly they don’t have a farm tour anymore coz of safety but still I learnt pretty much about deer history in NZ.
Had Deluxe burger$15. You can choose from beef or venison and venison doesn’t have”wild” smell so you can taste pure venison meat :)
