Friendly owners , thorough service Repeating order, asking for name and number and saying how long it would take. Had a good chat in store and very friendly. Food was great , not oily which we love ! Also add lemon with fish 🐟 😋

This place has won lots of awards and I can see why. Consistently great fish and chips. Not too greasy, we’ll cooked. Really friendly staff. Surely this is the best fish and chip shop in the Hutt.

They were closing up when I got there but the owner didn't turn me away. Now thats what I call service with a heart. I'm really grateful because I did not prepare a meal for my wife when she finish work. We both work n sometimes you just need a bit of luck. Fast forward 2023 service still the same very good and love the pensioners crumb fish meal deal. Oh and their Pacific jumbo burger. Cooked just the way I enjoyed them. 👍 😋😁

Truly best fish and chips I've ever had. More than flavourful, I didn't feel a little ill the next day like other places, maybe it's the oil or batter but this is a must try.

The only place I miss after moving away from Wellington. Very good food. Good prices. Very friendly people. c:

Best fish and chips in the area!

Haven't been here for awhile, was impressed with the choice of Terakihi, Groper or Orange Roughy as the fillet options. Chose the Orange Roughy as wasn't disappointed, very decent portion and have to say this place has hands down the best non greasy fish and chips around by a long way. Potato fritter batter is not excessive and nicely crunchy, the squid rings are not those round frozen variety you get at other shops. Highly recommend for the taste and the best way I find out how fresh the fish is is if Artemis the hunter my cat likes the fish too as she will turn her nose up if it's old. So well done So Fine Seafoods you live up to your name.

Very very good fish and chips! Nice touch to choose between straight and crinkle cut fries and different salts.

Its been a few years since So Fine won a national award for their fish n chips but they still seem to be as consistent as ever. We rarely get anything fancy but the fish is great and clean tasting and the choice between straight or crinkle cut chips is appreciated. The price is a bit higher then most others but it's good to have a place that takes quality seriously.

Awesome food. We have tried their fish and chips, and best in Wellington according to me. As a total surprise, we tried their steak burger, and it was out of this world! A must have! Dont let the name fool you... the have great fish, but their meat dishes are just as good!

Had burgers from here tonight and scoop crinkle cut chips chips were standard as for burgers a bit on the pricey side but we'll worth it the cheese burger had a good size patty fish burger was crumbled fish and good size I'll definitely be back

Ordered dinner tonight for our family and it was nothing short of awful. First we ordered 2 scoops of chips and received a small one scoop. Fish pieces were tiny. Potato fritters were chewy and greasy. It was just disgusting, have no idea how this place has such a good rating but we won't be going back.

I moved to Avalon in 2011, when i first discovered So Fine. They get the basics right, every time. I have tried Fish n chips around Australia and NZ, and yet to find a vendor who is more consistent with the quality of their product. Not the least expensive of shops, but value for money every time.

We had prevouisly tried this shop sometime ago and didn't rate it however, after reading that they had won the the best fish & chip shop recently, and since they handy to home we decided to try again. My wife throughly enjoyed the fish, potatoes fritters and chips that time around. So we become a repeat customer and tried them again one week later, sorry the fish wasn't as nice and the chips were poorly cooked they looked like they may have been cooked for the 3rd time round and many we're burnt etc plus the portion were much smaller this time around.Very disappointed no consistency what so ever. They are charging high prices compared to other local shops so we would expect to get top quality cooked food every time.<br/>

Went to try So Fine out after reading they won the best chip shop in NZ. Great looking shop but must have struck them on a bad day or bad chip cooker person. The chips were nothing great- inconsistent and not well seasoned. Was disappointed as love hot chips.

Wow, what a fabulous Fish and Chip Shop. My absolute fav F &amp; C shop now. The shop is clean and tidy and in a great location with lots of parking. The service is good, not overly friendly but certainly efficient in person and over the phone.<br/><br/>As for the food, the batter they use is light and tasty, you get a choice of which salt you would like on your food and also asked if you want vinegar. The chips are home made and cooked till crunchy on the outside and soft in the centre. Fish is always fresh and tasty, got a dozen scallops last time and they were also great.<br/><br/>Highly recommend, will be frequenting regularly.
