This place is bussin!!! Amazing food every time we’ve come here. I don’t do google reviews, but this place really deserves it. Food is really worth the price!

Here for a family lunch. Generously portioned, delicious, honest Turkish food. Everything we ate was absolutely delicious. Shout out to the baklava: probably the best I've eaten in a long time. The owner and waitress who served us were polite and efficient. Can't fault the place. Highly recommended.

My partner and I love coming to this place. We’ve brought our friends along and they loved it. It is the best. The service is top tier. You are served by the owner who is very attentive and kind. The atmosphere is very welcoming. The food is fresh and tasty. Every bite takes you to Turkey.

Meat was 10/10, the chicken and lamb was so incredibly tender and cooked to perfection! The owner/staff were very kind and welcoming, will definitely be coming back again!

Thoroughly enjoyed our lunchtime meal consisting 2 combo mixed meat kebabs, mixed Iskender & mixed grill shish. We also had a entree of haulomi cheese, humus, salad with bread.

Cafe Lokum is a favourite, their food is authentic, fresh and very tasty. I especially love the Beef Mousaka. A nice informal atmosphere with consistency. You can’t go wrong. Great friendly staff too.

Nice mixed grill plate. I used to get these from a restaurant on Cuba St called Istanbul that closed up. Very nice and great value. Nice vibes, good seating area. Good service. Will go again

This is my third time dining here and it was really nice food. The owners who I guess are family are very friendly and welcoming and overall the its a great place to come in for a meal. Thank you. Edited 12th March 2023 Came in here for lunch with two other family members and we all got a mixed escander each and we all enjoyed it very much. Very tasty meals and well priced too. We all recommend this lovely Cafe/ restaurants to you all. Thanks again.

OMG literally everything about this place is amazing!!! the food is to die for and the service is amazing. The staff are super friendly and helpful and our food came super quick. Another plus is the location it’s super close !!! making me want to move to turkey 🙈🇹🇷

To be honest, food here makes you feel like you are in South Europe... it is sooo good!! This place easily became one of our favorite. It is easily the best Turkish restaurant in Wellington, and the meat is so tasty. Love it! Highly recommended.

Sadly, this is a shadow of it's former self.<br/>Once proudly the Zilli and the Istanbul, with good friendly Turkish chefs, now it's the Lokum, and not a Turkish face in sight.<br/>Meals are modest and nothing special.<br/>Now we are back at the more lavish Kilim and enjoying the Turkish authenticity.

I had the Chicken Meze, absolutely beautiful and soo good for the price! Delicious selection of dips too! My friends got Grilled Lamb with a big bowl of chips on the side and a Spinach Vegetarian one, both were impressed!

Great place to go for decent sized, yummy food, in a welcoming spacious environment. Staff are friendly and helpful. Cafe is nice and peaceful and not squished so good for bigger group gatherings. Highly recommend!

Used to be called Istanbul Cafe but is now Cafe Lokum. <br/><br/>Very impressed. Have now been twice. Busy restaurant but quick service. Very friendly staff. Delicious and clearly very fresh food. <br/><br/>Didn't realise the main meals were so big, or wouldn't have ordered a mezze plate to share as an entree - we were stuffed! (Although the veg mezze plate was fantastic.) Excellent value for money at $17-20 for a very large main.<br/><br/>Only complaint was my moussaka had more potato, less eggplant and less seasoning than I prefer, but it was still very enjoyable. <br/><br/>The Turkish grilled chicken was AMAZING. So were the dips and tabouleh served with it. Absolutely delicious.<br/><br/>The second time we went for lunch and took our 3 year old. Very child-friendly atmosphere too.

went here on the recommendation of a friend... I always go to Kilim for my Turkish food... got a mixed Iskender.  $1 more expensive than the menu says, name has changed to Lokum Cafe and quite frankly I am not impressed with the food at all.  greasy dish and bread was TOUGH.... tasteless, run of the mill kebab shop in my opinion. I wish I'd gone to Kilim and spent the extra .50cents.  you never know unless you try though.  service was polite and fast. won't be back though.

This restaurant is under new management as is clear.  We asked for the Pita kebab but got served a normal kebab instead but it was really tasty.  Will definately be back to try the Baclava - Looks so good

The food here is delicious. Also a great price. We have dined in a couple of times and also get takeaways. Always fast service and the workers are very friendly.

Mixed grill with fresh salad and sauce is really good , dine in or takeaway. Recently refurbished dining area with a touch of Turkey ( different from posted photos). A MUST TRY AT LEAST ONCE

Ended up at Istanbul Cafe after not been able to get into Kilim down the road.  Was a bit skeptical as this restaurant has struggled over the years but is now under new management.   We were pleasantly surprised how good the food was.  It was fresh and well priced and in my option better the the Turkish down the road (which is also very good).  A welcome addition to the dining scene in Petone.

The Istanbul Café has been under new Management since May 2016.  If you like Turkish, then I would highly recommend the food (especially the Chicken Iskender) and the prices are reasonable. Although, probably better as a takeaway rather then dine in.

Good food at a decent price. Food was fresh and tasty. Staff were ok - typical of such types of restaurants. Decor is nice. Not sure if I would go back but worth a try.

This place is new to Petone and is a great addition to the local eateries. Their falafels are delicious, the hummus is great and their salads are fresh. Definitely recommend trying the food here. The staff are friendly and accommodating too. I doubt you will be disappointed
