I had the Chicken Meze, absolutely beautiful and soo good for the price! Delicious selection of dips too! My friends got Grilled Lamb with a big bowl of chips on the side and a Spinach Vegetarian one, both were impressed!

Great place to go for decent sized, yummy food, in a welcoming spacious environment. Staff are friendly and helpful. Cafe is nice and peaceful and not squished so good for bigger group gatherings. Highly recommend!

Used to be called Istanbul Cafe but is now Cafe Lokum.

Very impressed. Have now been twice. Busy restaurant but quick service. Very friendly staff. Delicious and clearly very fresh food.

Didn't realise the main meals were so big, or wouldn't have ordered a mezze plate to share as an entree - we were stuffed! (Although the veg mezze plate was fantastic.) Excellent value for money at $17-20 for a very large main.

Only complaint was my moussaka had more potato, less eggplant and less seasoning than I prefer, but it was still very enjoyable.

The Turkish grilled chicken was AMAZING. So were the dips and tabouleh served with it. Absolutely delicious.

The second time we went for lunch and took our 3 year old. Very child-friendly atmosphere too.

This restaurant is under new management as is clear. We asked for the Pita kebab but got served a normal kebab instead but it was really tasty. Will definately be back to try the Baclava - Looks so good

The food here is delicious. Also a great price. We have dined in a couple of times and also get takeaways. Always fast service and the workers are very friendly.

Mixed grill with fresh salad and sauce is really good , dine in or takeaway. Recently refurbished dining area with a touch of Turkey ( different from posted photos). A MUST TRY AT LEAST ONCE

Ended up at Istanbul Cafe after not been able to get into Kilim down the road. Was a bit skeptical as this restaurant has struggled over the years but is now under new management. We were pleasantly surprised how good the food was. It was fresh and well priced and in my option better the the Turkish down the road (which is also very good). A welcome addition to the dining scene in Petone.

The Istanbul Café has been under new Management since May 2016. If you like Turkish, then I would highly recommend the food (especially the Chicken Iskender) and the prices are reasonable. Although, probably better as a takeaway rather then dine in.

Here for a family lunch. Generously portioned, delicious, honest Turkish food. Everything we ate was absolutely delicious. Shout out to the baklava: probably the best I've eaten in a long time. The owner and waitress who served us were polite and efficient. Can't fault the place. Highly recommended.

Thoroughly enjoyed our lunchtime meal consisting 2 combo mixed meat kebabs, mixed Iskender & mixed grill shish. We also had a entree of haulomi cheese, humus, salad with bread.

Cafe Lokum is a favourite, their food is authentic, fresh and very tasty. I especially love the Beef Mousaka. A nice informal atmosphere with consistency. You can’t go wrong. Great friendly staff too.

Nice mixed grill plate. I used to get these from a restaurant on Cuba St called Istanbul that closed up. Very nice and great value. Nice vibes, good seating area. Good service. Will go again

This is my third time dining here and it was really nice food. The owners who I guess are family are very friendly and welcoming and overall the its a great place to come in for a meal. Thank you. Edited 12th March 2023 Came in here for lunch with two other family members and we all got a mixed escander each and we all enjoyed it very much. Very tasty meals and well priced too. We all recommend this lovely Cafe/ restaurants to you all. Thanks again.
