Review Kawau Kitchen - Mangere

LOVED my experience here. We went on Labour Day so it was actually quiet during our seating time. The service was amazing, friendly staff & very polite (thank you to the staff who worked Labour Day!) a total of 6 meals came out within 15-25 minutes AND it tasted GREAT! Highly recommend. The Korean bowl is spicy so you can request for minimal (server had to ask chef first, which wasn’t an issue!) Will definitely come back here :)

Beautiful food, good portions, friendly staff and nice atmosphere. It's a popular spot on a Sunday morning. I enjoyed their matcha latte, which I also appreciate because not every cafe does matcha. We also tried the taro latte which was also tasty. The whole family had a lovely experience.

Let’s start with the day core, how beautiful it is and the premises are so clean. The staff are nothing but first class their service is amazing!!! Which make the experience so much better. The food was something else tasty and fresh in every way. The price is so good for the quality of food this will be my new stop pre & post flights.

My partner and I visited here for breakfast. One of the best cafe We’ve been to and food was amazing! I loved the Matcha Latte as well. My partner ordered Iced coffee, It was very nice and and he was happy with what he’s got served. However this young gentleman that made the iced coffee came to our table with another one and asked if my partner wanted a stronger one because the one he made wasn’t to his standard. I thought it was so nice of him and loved how he went over and beyond with his service. We will definitely be back when We visit Auckland :)

Ate here during lunchtime. 3 of us had breakfast and 3 of us had the wagyu burgers. All of it was excellent! Generous portions and all of the food was very fresh. I’m so glad we stumbled upon this place on our way out of Auckland. Would gladly eat here again! Greatest compliment came from my son who said this was the best burger he’s ever eaten.

Highly recommended. Lovely atmosphere, food was great and service was excellent. We had latte and Eggs Benny with Kumara Rostie it was delicious. I think I give this credit to chef All the dishes came out were 10/10

Beautifully presented, spacious cafe close to the airport. Smashed avocado dish was absolutely to die for with generous latherings of avocado! All the dishes and drinks I saw being delivered to other tables also looked outstanding. The only downside was that both the street facing entrances were out of order so you had to walk around the corner to enter the cafe & where the bathrooms were located was a guessing game! Would definitely go back if I had a decent domestic layover and wanted to get out of the airport!

Had an absolutely wonderful brunch here before departing to Auckland Airport. We got the Korean fried chicken bowl and the Smashed in Japan, and both were absolutely divine.

This cafe is a hidden gem. The menu is great for vegetarians vegans and gluten free. I had amazing green fritters which were so flavourful. My friend had perfect poached eggs with great bread which wasn't over toasted and chewey. The staff immediately brought pencils and colouring sheet for our toddler and were so amazing. I cannot recommend this place enough. The decor was beautiful and so clean.

Went today with some girlfriends to try and on arrival loved the decor from the feather lights, to colour scheme and amazing wall paper mural. Ordered the chicken Korean bowl and coffee, they were both delicious and presented beautifully. Can’t wait to go again for breakfast to try the açai bowl. Would definitely recommend � �

Coffee was nice, savory scone was crumbly and dry, and the roast veg frittata was served cold even after I asked to heat it HOT 3 times. Wasn’t even warm. Cabinet food wasn’t the go for me. Sorry

Area has needed a nourishing food place since the dinosaurs existed. Went for dinner, they kept the kitchen open to accomodate, wasn’t disappointed. Probably the best beetroot hummus in the world, if not the greater airport area. Those chips.... as my good friend Merrill Fernando from Dilmah tea would say, do try it.

Super elegant eatery with amazing service & friendly staff. We enjoyed delicious bulletproof coffees made just right. Kawau Benny with pulled beef was amazing. Kids goodness bowl was full of good stuff & very generous portions! We will be back �

Only had a soy chai and it was very nice. The cafe is beautiful. Lovely in and out. Staff are friendly and tidy. Hood clean hip cafe. Will love to return to try the food on a more time day.

Booked online, was very easy guidance. Morning greeting as you walk in. Our table of 6 arranged. Customer services, very good. My salmon Benedict and cappuccino delicious. The bread had a twist to it which I think is potato, very good. Atmosphere very calming, friendly feel and comfortable. Enjoyed my experience.

I came in for lunch with my family. It has a lovely atmosphere and the staff are super lovely.<br/>However, the food was on the very average and not very tasty side.<br/>My Wagyu beef burger was sooo tough and dry. It was hard to eat and I didn't finish it. The flavour was a bit weird too.<br/>My nephew got the kids pancakes. They were also very tough, he struggled to cut them. So I cut them up for him and even I had to put effort into cutting them up. Pancakes should be light and fluffy. My daughter wanted a smoothie. That honestly was the worst smoothie I had ever tasted. It tasted like warm milk that had gone off. <br/>

No food outlets open at the airport so i took an easy 10 minute walk to the cafe for breakfast. I received excellent service and a delicious meal. I will be back.

Service was next to non existent. Many flies flying around our table and chairs and none of the staff seems to care, but it was bothering us. We ordered 2 coffees but they forgot to make one. Food was normal cafe food nothing special about it, bacon was too overcooked. Not likely to come back.

Great menu. They have your standard cafe menu and then they have a lot of fusion style meals.<br/><br/>Decent portion sizes and the meals are plates up really nicely. Food was cooked nicely and ingredients seemed fresh.

As usual with nice cafes, the ball has to be dropped somewhere. The customer service has gone really down. The bar was pretty high previously and now its way below average. The coffee is sometimes hit and miss. Food arrives pretty late with reasons of busy when the shop is half empty and many staff roaming around. No greetings. Have to wait for staff who is on phone chatting away. All this shows pretty low moral in staff. I loved this place previously. But now its last option. Why? Picture is of the actual person sitting on the kitchen bench and on phone. This is not acceptable. If you are in the cafe and and in uniform - u are working mate. I wish a leader reads this and turn this around. We loved this place - make it awesome again.

🍳▪️ Scramble egg on toast, fries and eggs bene-4/5▪️🍳<br/>A very nice and wholesome cafe located in Mangere near the Auckland international airport. The cafe is placed on the floor of a lovely architecturally designed commercial building with indoor and outdoor seating. The decor and style of the place is modern and superb with above excellent customer service. I ordered the scrambled egg on toast and of course my eyes were drawn to it once I read the menu and saw that it would be topped with coriander and saffron. The eggs were a light and fluffy and had the perfect amount of seasoning. I swapped the bacon with halloumi and definitely did not regret that choice. The rye bread was ok. The paste below the rye bread and scrambled egg was a semi-spicy harissa paste which tasted fantastic. I loved the little kick it added to my brunch that morning. The fries were crisp and delicious which complimented both me and my friend’s meals. She also enjoyed her eggs Benedict and we would both recommend this cafe if you’re in the area.

Amazingly yummy, well presented food. I cleaned my breakfast plate out :-) My friend enjoyed her pizza and we took leftover slices home. Teas beautifully presented and lovely cabinet selection. Ordered a cake to share plus banana loaf and muffin to take home. Great service - staff polite and attentive. Pricing is good value for money considering quantities, quality and presentation. We also liked the fact that we weren’t rushed - so spent a couple of hours there enjoying the food, drinks and catching up. Very nice addition to neighbourhood.

If you have time on your hands at the international airport before going through Customs I recommend you walk for 10 minutes and find this cafe outside of the airpor areat.  The coffee was superb as was the savoury scone.  Friendly staff too.

We love dining at Kawau Kitchen during our brunch break. Service is lovely, our food is always delicious! Korean chicken bowl is also a favourite with us, as well as the Nuts About You smoothie! Definitely a great place to visit 😊

The food was lovely once we got it. Unfortunately the wait for the food did not create a very positive customer experience for us as there was no apology or sense of urgency to even ackowledge the wait time. <br/><br/>

This place is close to the airport. The glass house feeling allows you to enjoy the sunshine. I ordered the beef eggs Benedict with rosti. Definitely different but sooo good. A lot more satisfying than bacon so would recommend if you’re starving. The smoothie is also quite filling, it’s basically a meal in itself. The frangipani tart isn’t sweet which was surprising but not disappointing. Service was fast and hospitable. Decor is pristine and clean.

I was driving around Mangere randomly for work and wondering where to eat - well thank you Zomato! I never new this place, or anything here, existed. I will be coming back. Friendly service, great food selection and good coffee. Cheers

Been here twice. It's a nice stopover for food on the way to or from the airport. It might get a little chilly indoors (probably the design gives room for air draft) but every table has throw blankets to keep you warm.<br/><br/>Coffee's good and food is consistently delicious and beautifully presented. I would recommend the rhubarb French toast. Haven't tried the sandwich but it looks really good too! I love the options they have and how awesome it is to have a coffee card that gives you a free drink after accumulating only 6 cups (as compared to the usual 10).

The presentation of the food and whole cafe was great along with the friendly staff who made sure we had a good experience. Overall thoroughly enjoyed the food as well as the ambience. Would definitely come back!

Yummy tasty food, great service with a great, modern feel..nice to have something so fancy in south auckland! Need to visit for dinner as I have had lunch and brunch so far and enjoyed-highly recommended!!

Just what the area was needing! Kawau is the best cafe in this block and is worth a visit if your in the area. A group of us dined in for breakfast today and really enjoyed the food. The eggs bene was a standout, the Korean fried chicken nourish bowl is a good salad alternative and the corn fritters with bacon and halloumi is the business! The service was a little slow but it was a busy morning and they were short staffed. We had the head chef take out orders (she’s not normally on the floor) but she was actually really helpful when we questioned certain parts of the dishes. Worth checking out for workers nearby or if you need a decent meal out by the airport.<br/><br/>

Food is presented nicely however the wait time is way too long. Waited more than 30 mins for the food to come out. A part from that the place itself looks beautiful and my sambal scramble was nice however the bibimbap was not

You have GOT TO TRY THIS PLACE! I’ve always driven pas this place but never went in. I have been meaning to. I wish I went in earlier. Nice relaxing atmosphere, Awesome service, food came out quick. You can charge your phone or laptop at the table. I love a cafe that has this for the working woman. <br/><br/>We ordered a breakfast and lunch to try out both and we were far from disappointed. Excellent food. <br/><br/>We tried a treat from the cabinet! Wow just as good. I am definitely going back. Might even work from there one morning. Awesome awesome place. Recommend it, I will be back! Very nice very wholesome cafe located near Auckland Airport, situated on the ground floor of a Architecturally designed commercial building sits this lovely cafe, I especially love the double height ceiling, making the cafe very spacious. The attention to decor and style is beyond superb, friendly staff, unique menu, makes a ver pleasant experience, the owners were nice to ask about feedback and opinion on how they could improve the dish, that was very nice.<br/><br/>Food- 9/10<br/>Aesthetics- 10/10<br/>Service- 9/10

I can not fault a single thing with Kawau Kitchen. Everybody who reads this needs to check this new gem out! My new favourite cafe. The food is amazing, the staff are so friendly and inviting, the decor is lovely and the cabinet up front with all the pastries, salads and muffins.. ❤ omg I want to take everything home. My favorite has to be the bruschetta. Can not fault a thing 👌🏻

The place is beautiful. Staff were lovely and food was yum. I got the sambal scramble and cosmic potion and my husband got a hot chocolate. Also got an almond croissant and custard Cronut to takeaway. *drool* 🤤. Can’t wait to try more on the menu.

My partner and I came here on opening week and were so delighted by Kawau Kitchen. The layout is beautiful, the Sambal Scramble was hands down the best eggs I’ve ever experienced in my life and I tried the mushroom potion out of curiosity and was pleasantly surprised with how delicious it was. We also both got coffee which was hot and delicious. We will definitely be back!
