Review Melba - Manukau

Good food and service, it can be a bit noisy but I guess that is to be expected. Finding parking is problematic which can be irritating but they make the best caramel latte EVER, the chicken salad is just incredible, tasty pizza, an amazing Angus burger and the smashed avocado is great, as were the fish tacos. I recommend this place for a nice lunch 😁

Busy around 11-12 but still got a seat. Great environment with high ceilings and spacious interior. Menu was good, with a variety of food. Service was fine and food arrived super quick after ordering. Portions were big enough for me and had a bit left over in the end. Drinks were to die for. Milkshakes and smoothies (banana and berry esp) were just awesome. Overall good and recommended

Visited this cafe when I came for a vacation to NZ. This place is just amazing. Friendly staff and great ambiance. Service will be little late, but that’s ok. No complaints on the food. Tried-Island breeze smoothie, eggs Benedict, Piccolo. Loved it.

Service was a little bit late but understandable, the place was quite busy but not full. Beautiful and friendly staff. Beautifully presentation dishes. Was a bit disappointed that there was not much chicken dishes, because both my mother and I don't eat pork but seriously such a great place to dine. So much space and great location as well. I had chicken & waffles and an Island breeze smoothie. The waffles didn't quite go with the salad that it came with but the chicken was just tender and juicy 🤤 smoothie was yummmyyyy, best I've had in a long time. Really enjoyed my experience here would definitely try a different dish next time.

🚻 toilets ♿ Wheelchair accessible entry I have heard from friends this place is all round fantastic from food to service And they were right ✅ My daughter reserved a table for my birthday brunch 🤗 As we arrived lots of parking to be found The table reserved was a long wooden table fitting all of us in comfortably You can draw down the blinds if excess sun beaming through. The best part looking through the menu and receiving the prepared meals. Which didn't disappoint.

Great restaurant and vibe. Fast service and food is always yummy!

I think this is the best all day breakfast place (and more) Ive been too. Food was fantastic, servings great (can be shared) and service is very prompt & attentive. A nice go-to place ! Cheers

Great atmosphere, friendly and amazing Service from staff. Ordered the 3 Spice pork belly and the 3 Egg omelet, great portions and beautifully served. I loved it. Would recommend. Since we were a large & a loud group it was nice to get the corner table isolated/private . Thanks Team Melba for the service !

Our favourite cafe restaurant in Manukau! Great for a quick weekend branch or more formal occasions. The staff are always very friendly and food has great consistency. Great for big groups of 8 -10 too. Love the indoor area as well as the outdoor area. The portions are quite generous and may surprise you with the great taste! Weekends can be quite busy but waiting time has always been pretty good. The staff are very attentive.

Lovely Cafe with a nice all day menu. We visited two days in a week as the ambience is so pleasant. Fast service, clean and very friendly. The food is so tasty and varied. Top value for money.

I came into the Melba and prebooked the table. The manager was very helpful giving me advice on which meals were gluten free On the day we had a friendly waitress and enjoyed the meal. I found the staff definitely went the extra mile to make sure they accommodated our needs.

We attended mother’s day, morning. The food is just above average (nothing super amazing). for the food we had, i’d feel it’s more reasonable to pay a couple dollars less (each). However! the 5x stars is for the customer service. I had to call a few times and each time, the staff were always so pleasant. The waiters were awesome and accomodating. We didn’t have to wait too long for our food. When it was time to pay, againstaff was great (they were different to waiter).

Literally no complaints at all. This cafe/restaurant is amazing! The staff are super nice and friendly! The speed of service is so quick!!! And the food omg the food is outstanding! Definitely one of the best I've ever had! And it is well presented! It looked like it was to good to touch and the taste Definitely matched the presentation! Even the drink was beautifully presented and tasted just as good! The restaurant is also super nice and clean!

Didn’t realise Melba did dinner, was pleasantly surprised. The food was great, plenty of flavour and good portions. Steak was cooked exactly as each person ordered. Gluten free options were available however it wasn’t obvious from the menu. Would suggest a key on the menu for the allergens the waitress was helpful in letting me know the options though.

Really enjoyed our dishes here. Chicken and waffles were moist and delicious and was our favorite the pork belly was nice and the steak was perfectly cooked medium. Parmesan chips were a great sided dish as well. Nice friendly staff and clean premesis.

Thank you Sashi & staff at Melba Manukau for being a fantastic venue for my daughter’s 21st (held 19 May 2018). Our guests loved the food: the pork, lamb & beef sliders & the delicious pizzas were a hit! The service was fantastic. A lot of staff on to cover the function and they kept the food & drinks flowing. Sashi you were wonderful to deal with from the venue planning beginning to end. You were very accomodating & willing to making our celebration a great one at Melba. Of course Melba is a beautiful venue, especially at night! I highly recommend Melba Manukau, Sashi & his staff as a wonderful venue for your celebration!

I live in Manukau and always go to Melba for breakfast on a regular basis. Today was just terrible, waited 45mins for eggs and toast. If I didn't enquire about how far along my food is, I would be sitting there for much longer. I really loved the place service and always recommend friends and family. It's a No from now. Very disappointed

One breakfast had dry over cooked bacon and the other meal the bacon was barely cooked. The kids hot cakes were both burnt. The kids got given a kids fun page to do but not supplied with any pencils or colouring pens. Really poor attention to detail

Food was yummy, The service was amazing! Martin brought out food out. I watched all the staff and they all were so efficient and friendly, refilling our empty water every single time, clearing our tables. We stayed practically all morning and through the lumch service. Ordered 2 meals each, lattes and a slice of cake. Loved it there. Would recommend it to all my friends.

Omgosh love love love Melbas in Manakau! We went for brunch for the first time on Friday! Was amazing service, the food was so delish and came out fast and the coffee was so yum!! Plus to top it all off baby friendly the waiter gave us a reserved table so we could have some privacy:-)

I have been there for lunch twice in 1 week and have to say the food and customer service is fantastic. We were cheated and serviced promptly. The food was great and service was even better. Would recommend the salmon hash+++. Out waiter today can't remember his name but we were seated outside and he took the time to explain the menus and get down to our seated level and help with menus. I also saw the way he was with customers he seems to love his job and has great customer service skills. Great place overall.
Katie Koerber
Amazing breakfast! Had the smashed avo and the eggs bene. Absolutely blown away! Super cool vibes too. Only thing we felt was odd was how small the outside tables were..my partner and i are quite tall. Haha. We will be back though:)
Mike Sauni
We were there last Sat morning the place was not that busy, ie wasn't full The service was ok but my cooked breakfast was hot and cold Bacon , sausage was cold Eggs ok and the only thing hot was the one mushroom. The worst bit was the toast burnt and dead cold !! Review ? Shouldn't have got me started. ! Go figure !!😒
Joanne Mccreanor
Service was average - children's meal was disappointing- adults mushroom meal was nice. Breakfast menu does not have enough variety.
Jess Clarke
Melba is my absolute favourite place to eat at the moment - I love the vibe, the food is amazing and I’ve never had a problem with the staff I have always found them to be really polite despite sometimes running around like headless chickens because they are so busy! I take my hat off to them working In such a busy high stress environment and being able to keep smiling love your work guys!
Merveen Kara
Awesome service and food.... Highly recommend this place. Handy location and plenty parking

Was at Melba Manukau yesterday- obviously it was busy as it was fathers day. I had mushrooms which were the best mushrooms I have tasted in a long time- Pity the extra bacon I ordered was cold- one small bacon piece at $2.50, I thought expensive as I still had to pay this even though I had said hold on the egg. Bacon on other meals were also cold. Mocha Latte luke warm

Brunch. The place was packed, the staff were very attentive and explained about the wait for a table. They had us seated in no time. Good was lovely. I'll keep going back. Thanks melba!

Took a group of 41 people to Melba in Manukau for lunch this week. Let me tell you, there are not enough stars!!!! All 41 meals (7 different choices) beautifully & equally presented came out en masse. Brilliant. This is no easy task to accomplish successfully. Repeated with coffees & teas too. Service was faultless. Communication before, during & after 100%. If you're thinking of a truly outstanding place to go for a special occasion or for that Christmas function, Melba at Manukau. You won't find better. A massive thank you. Congratulations to your Chef, kitchen assistants, waiting staff, front of house & anyone else involved in making this an amazing experience. You should be proud of your efforts. Well done indeed. Heather

Absolutely amazing service this morning from our server Martin, it was lovely to see him go above and beyond for my Mum who is diabetic. The food was also amazing. Will definitely be returning

All our experiences in Melba were lovely. We would normally only come in a small group and have gone on the weekend so we experienced what it was like during peak hours and not so busy hours. <br/><br/>Ambiance 5/5 – I love Melba décor. It’s so chic and fresh, and the interior and exterior looks beautiful. My favourite is the fire place and the wooden light fixtures in the middle of the restaurant. They have ample seating even though it looks as though it would be small from the outside. They have indoor and outdoor spaces (still covered). The café is clean and well maintained.<br/><br/>Food 4.9/5 – We enjoyed the fact that they have a good range of drinks and breakfast items (my fave thing to order in a café). Hubby thought his coffee didn’t taste too much like coffee, but it might have been different if he had an extra shot in his “Bowl” sized drink. Their hot chocolate, soy mocha and chai latte were superb! I think their menu could use more “vegan” options. They had some, but quite limited according to my vegan friend who went with us. We have tried their SEB (YUM), Smoked Salmon Benny (YUMM), Melba Works Pizza (YUMMMMMM) , and a Vegan Taco. We thought the Taco could use some improvement and we think some coriander would have added more oomph. I appreciate that they did not over-season the food and we were welcome to add more salt/pepper as we prefer.<br/><br/>Staff and Service 5/5 – All staff members we came across are lovely, kind and accommodating. It was really funny when me, my mum and hubby were trying to take a selfie but we were having trouble. One attentive staff quickly offered and asked if we would like help taking a photo. We appreciate you! One time we had a server who was new as well, but she was kind enough to jot down all our questions to check with either her manager or the kitchen. We appreciated her honesty and her efforts in trying to find out if our requests were possible. Wait times were manageable, even during their weekend service which was really impressive!<br/><br/>Thank you, Melba team! We’d love to come back again and again and again!

Came here for breakfast this morning. The food was average. Service was great though. Their version of the big breakfast is not that great compared to other cafes I’ve been too especially with that price. Bratwurst and the bacon was disappointing. Also the toast wasn’t even warm when it came to the table. Couldn’t even really melt the butter.
Riya
Good and fast service but the place is always really busy. Good food everytime I visit, but expensive.
TriDom
Second time here and service and food was very fast and food was great.

Went with my family last night for dinner post covid 19 and it was great. The staff were friendly and accomodating, the food was good and the amibence was top notch. The only thing i would add is that theres not much options for vegetarians or vegans however its still a great place.
Haven Binta Sy
The best fried chicken waffles in Auckland I recommend the manukau location
Avi Lata
The food was so good and the atmosphere is great
Matthew Seymour
Amazing friendly and quick service! Quick with the food too... Full of flavour! Will definitely be back =)
Ivy
Came for brunch, we got the salmon hash and chicken waffles. The hash is definitely something to try as it’s very unique and different. Chicken waffles were great (however, the waffles taste more like scones). Iced coffee was bland. Service was great but portions are a bit on the small side for the price.
Renie
The ambience is so nice at this cafe. I come here to study or brunch with friends and enjoy it every time! Some of the cabinet food such as cakes could be better but the kitchen food is always good. I would also recommend the smoothies!
Kat Lim
Came here for dinner tonight and the food was great!! The lovely lady with the short black hair who took care of my table was fantastic. Love the ambiance, wasn't too busy which was relaxing.
Kimwhittaker68
Lovely cafe, dined here twice in the past two weeks for lunch and brunch. Lunch was lovely, we had pork belly and chicken schnitzel. Very nice food. Came back for brunch, service and Staff always friendly. Ordered the Smoked Salmon Hash and it was ok as it was mainly mash! Hardly any Salmon in it, probably about a tablespoon if that. So a bit disappointing. Improvement on the dish would be adding more salmon.Would be a great dish if there was actually Salmon in the dish. Friend had the Salmon Egg Benedict and it looked great! Still a lovely cafe.
Caitlin
I barely eat at cafes but the fried chicken and waffles was so good! The waffle was like a cheese waffle and the fried chicken was so crispy on the outside but juicy inside. The fries were really good too they were nice and crispy and fluffy inside and nicely seasoned. It’s a big portion so it’s worth the money even as a big eater I was very full. They had very good service, all the waiters were nice and kind and took our orders very quickly. Even though my friends helium balloon went up to the ceiling an employee was so friendly and climbed on top of a table to get it for us!
Foodiewoodie
Went here for a lunch meeting and had a great time. Food was quick to arrive and yummy. I wanted to pick and choose from the add-ons for a high protein lunch and they let me “build my own” meal with eggs salmon and pan fried chicken. Definitely coming back next month!
Julz Robanakadavu
Ordered the Walnut Waffles . Presentation on point and delicious . However , I did get a side of Ice cream which is extra . I think having this dish on its own without the ice cream would be abit dry. Good atmosphere and very spacious cafe .

Came here today for a work lunch. Booked a table for 13 people and got a private area to sit which was great. Had 2 awesome ladies look after our table. Everyone enjoyed their meals, big portions and they all came out at once piping hot. Thanks again for takin care of us. Always great to find a place with decent food that knows how to look after a group :)

I've been here a few times. When it first opened, i loved it. But i think over time, Melba has become more and more popular and they are starting to lack in flavour, presentation and rushing their food.
Timile Mavuso
just a warning. If you are celebrating your birthday at Melba and bring a cake. THEY WILL CHARGE YOU $15 TO EAT THE CAKE IN THE BUILDING. Otherwise foods good
Jaz
Food and service are beautiful and delicious here!! Outdoor seats are quite uncomfortable. Need more options for the desert menu during dinner time.
Ranjeeta Ram
Very nice food with a nice environment... Very friendly staff.. Definitely a place to be..☕ Recommended for a nice meal and outing...👍👍👍👍

It was very busy cafe. Staff was really kind:) love to come back

Been here a few times and most recently the past weekend. Lots of seating and a relaxing place to eat. I find the food average, breakfasts are good but nothing that will blow your mind, just your average eggs benedicts and salads etc. Last time we went the service was quite rude, but other times I've been it has been good so I guess it depends on who is working lol. I prefer Melba in Ellerslie as I think their dishes taste nicer... Like the salmon hash for example which is on both menus. I've had it at both places and ellerslie was nicer. Ellerslie is smaller and can be tricky if you have baby stroller.
Christie Ai
Always great food and great service. Staff and owners are friendly and attentive. Atmosphere is nice and relaxing. The only thing I would change is the coffee, it's very weak and has no aroma - would love a different blend like All Press or Havana.
J Kaur
It is always a pleasant environment and friendly service, but being a vegetarian I feel there are not enough options on the menu which are pleasing to the eye. I have been here many times, I think it’s a good place for quick coffee meeting.
Marama Kingi
Everytime we visit, our expectations are always met. Great food, great service. Always one of our top 3 picks for a weekend brunch. My fave dish is the soy glazed salmon and if I am feeling especially daring then the choc milkshake which really is a slam dunk!
Marissa Chellan
First time here today, and would come back again! Food is amazing! The chicken and waffles were delicious and the presentation is lovely. Really good service as well!

Will definitely be back to taste what's on the menu..had breakfast here yesterday and just can't fault it at all, taste great smells great and simply outstanding.. Would give a 10 if it wasn't a 5 star, thanks Melba🌟👍

We chose this restaurant as change just so that we can celebrate a work colleagues birthday. We were seated nicely. The server was great with great personality. The food was great as well. A bit steep in pricing for South Auckland communities but the restaurant was quite busy despite the high prices. <br/>However my 3 star is for the treatment we got towards the end of the customer journey at this restaurant. Because it was a birthday, we got a tiny cake - size of a muffin for my colleague. The server came after few mins and told us that the Duty Manager does not allow outside cake to be eaten in the restaurant and she is going to charge $15.00 for it. I went around the restaurant looking for signs where it says - no cake allowed. I couldnt find any. I found a notice which is attached. I found the Duty Manager comments shocking when she came around personally teaching us that if you go Mcdonalds, Burger King and other restaurants - they do not allow outside cake. Maybe she didnt go to any of the restaurants. They do allow and they happily give plates and spoons and other things to help. Premium Restaurant Kawau Kitchen at Auckland airport - we take our cake sometimes and they provide us with cutleries and plates. I found Melba really behind in this. The duty manager might need training and maybe need be more aware of her surrounding and she blatantly lied infront us. She was going to charge us $15.00 to eat a cake inside which was a size of a 50 cents coin and costed $5. Anyways we apologised profusely never to return to this restaurant where rules and policies are created and shoved into customers faces within minutes without any notice. Avoid this place if you going celebrate birthday dinners and lunches here. I was surprised none of the staff knew about this as well. The duty manager created the rule on the spur for the moment. I suggest notice to be placed at the door and notice boards around to warn customers. I would have given 2 stars but 1 star is for the helpful lady who got embarrased together with us in the full restaurant. She was a real star. We got really embarrased and vowed never to return. As a international blogger, I will be rating this on my websites as well. Thanks for reading.

Came on a busy Sunday brunch. Service was good. Fantastic menu options. We ordered Chicken and Waffles, Classic Melba Grill and Sweet Waffles. It didn't disappoint. Fresh ingredients and the waffles are on point. I would definitely go back for another brunch!
Muriel
such great service from the staff.  ordered the breakfast grill, firstly the sausage, bacon and poached eggs were perfect, full flavour and a great combo with the tomato it came with.  i found the kumara hash to be bland and not sure if it complimented the meal as much as a potato hash would have.  toast was accidentally cooked a bit too hard so was double the crunch to the bite, never to mind fixed that easily by putting the poached eggs and bacon on the toast and it softened the toast adequately!  this food would have been great with creamy mushrooms instead of the grilled ones it came with and a side of baked beans.  again, though great service and so warm with the open fire !!!

Our second trip to this cafe was disappointing. The positive is always the ambience and service. It’s a modern cafe always busy on the weekend.<br/><br/>We ordered eggs bene with salmon & beef croquette. The beef filling in the croquette was bland and under seasoned to the point I made my wife return it and order something else as I felt bad for her. We never do this! My bene has too much spinach which was too watery for a lack of a better description and too little salmon for the price. Side of spicy chorizos were good and the coffees were ok.<br/><br/>Chefs go light on the salt which is fine but the flavours were very average. Not worth another try for us unfortunately.<br/><br/>Thank you to the staff that took off the croquette off the bill without asking 😊
Yearoftherooster51
I booked ahead and table was not ready when we got there. Ordered pork belly, chicken and waffles and beef burger. Pork belly is a 7/10, chicken and waffles is 7/10 while beef burger is 2/10. Chicken and burger were bland! It tasted like the chef forgot to season them at all. Burger was supposed to be medium rare but got this chewy, dry well done meat. Not a fan of this place. Not worth for the price we paid. Will not be returning.

closer to 4<br/>food and coffee consistently good, i have been to both this branch in Manukau and the one in Ellerslie<br/>they provide colouring pen and paper to help keep kids entertained and occupied

Fresh, delightful, tasty, quirky & fun. I love the food which is so brilliant & the beverages oh the beverages are just amazing especially the House Soads strawberry & basil is my fav but the honey & ginger is yummmmm too. A nice a refreshing place to come and chill in :) My guy loves the vegan menu too, great selections, thank you.

Nice customer service and great food + served quickly. The ice coffee had a unique taste and the Belgian waffles were nice. The fries off another meal and breakfast burger was also very good. Good for brunch if you are looking for a cozy environment to chill out with family or friends. The interior design also looks very nice.<br/><br/>Second visit:<br/>Took my family out to lunch here. We waited around 5-10 minutes to be seated as it was busy. We ordered the creamy mushroom, buttermilk waffles, beef croquette and some chips. My family was a bit disappointed as the dishes were simple and you could get this at other cafe places with a better proportion, price and flavour. The waffles were burnt (and didn’t follow the menu we were given, I was surprised the platter I had been served had less food on it e.g. the fruit) and way too simple for around $19 - mainly consisting of three pieces of waffles with whip cream and purée sauce, however the flavour was unique compared to other cafes. the croquette was bland and needed salt and pepper so that my sister could taste something. The creamy mushrooms were okay but was a simple dish prices at approx $20. Also I’d like to comment on how other people who came around 10 minutes after us got their food earlier which I’d say is unfair. Overall our experience here was okay, customer service needed to be improved, only half of the staff seemed welcoming and the other didn’t seem to care. The food proportion needs to be bigger so that you can get what you actually pay for. I was not as impressed as my first visit but I will give it a chance again.

We booked dinner for 5. Ordered the 5spice pork belly. Delicious. Also ordered the harissa chicken pizza. It was OK. Not a big fan of the Moroccan sauce on it. But if u enjoy the sauce you'll enjoy the pizza. The crispy squid was nice. It wasnt crispy though. Dinner menu is limited. Someone ordered the fish of the day. She enjoyed it except for the undercooked lentils on the plate. Another ordered the egg plant taco. She said it was tasty. The place is quite cozy and the decor is lovely. I've been here for brekie also and the chicken schnitzel sandwich is super scrumptious! Have also tried the Melba grill & chicken waffle. Both delicious. The photos are pork belly, chicken waffle. Melba grill, chicken schnitzel sandwich, fish of the day & harrissa chicken pizza & the crispy squid. Will definitely return to try other items on the menu.
Rex
Yum!!!! We got the chicken waffles which were so good and the pork belly which wsd also really good. Coffee was great and service was awesome. Will definitely be back here again.

A great cafe and friendly faces. Food is amazing and service is fast. Would recommend booking or going early as it can get packed up. There are a lot of option to choose from and definitely would go again soon.

Was here last weekend and have been a couple of times now. Never disappointed. Food and service is always great! And so is the decor/setting. Do visit if you get the chance
Doris Ma
Good food, drinks, service, and lovely environment to be in. Their menu is also relatively cheap compared to some other cafes. The flavours of every dish I've had thus far have melded together nicely and are a good portion size. It's a Cafe I would come back to regularly.
Elon Solomona
Best Cafe in my opinion for the area. Always a great vibe. Staff is very friendly and the service is quick. Eggs Benedict is delicious and the food from the cabinet is just as good. Highly recommended. I make sure to visit everytime I come back to auckland for a visit.
#fatlyfe
Came here at like 8.30 in the morning. Service was a bit slow. Took 10 mins to even get the menu. Took an hour for our food to come out. People that rocked in 20 mins after us got their food before us??? Not sure how? Owell!!!!! Ordered the nut protein smoothie as well as the lamb tacos. The wrap was a bit hard and chewy by the time I got to the second one (I’m a slow eater) soooo I just ate the nest with the salad..... probably better that way anyways 😂😂

Been here twice now and I love the fried chicken waffles. Especially their gourmet milkshaes my favorites will be the caramel popcorn and the berries

LOVE THIS PLACE!!! <br/>Such an incredible cafe/restaurant! Been here a few times with family and friends! <br/>Love the rustic yet sophisticated vibe ❤️ friendly and polite staff !<br/><br/>Incredible food and seriously good beverages HOT and COLD! They definitely make each meal or drink INSTAWORTHY! <br/><br/>So far haven’t been disappointed by the staff and the quality of food ! Keep up the great work 🥰

Its a nice cafe. Situated in a nice area. I think their milkshakes are too pricey. But nice friendly staff and nice coffee. Had the eggs benedict. Egg was perfectly cooked. But toast was a bit too hard.

I always enjoy my meals here at melba and i absolutly LOVE there nutella shake "slam dunk" customer service is always lovely an friendly food delish. I also love that its child friendly my girls love there kiddie meals.

Went to have lunch and got caught in the lunch rush mid-week! Staff were friendly and kept us up to date, letting us know how long a table would take. Our drink orders came first and were delicious and well made. We had a flat white, mocha and Lean Green Smoothie (recommended). Highlight of the meal was the Crumbed Fish Tacos; all of the flavours complimented the fish well and is something I will be ordering again (hopefully soon!). Interior is open and inviting and there is easy parking right outside.
Chelsea
Nice area to just have a laugh and catchup with your loved ones. Food is great, pork belly I ordered tasted very delicious, would recommend coming there and ordering the pork belly!
Shivali
The food and drinks were nice. Melba is a great place to have lunch or dinner with friends and family as the ambience is really nice. If you would like to go to Melba at less busy times during the weekdays, I recommend around 3-4pm. However it is a time where lunch is transitioning to dinner so food will take a little while to arrive. Overall the service and food were great.
Gurman Singh
Visited Melba several times and never been disappointed with their quality of food and service. Great place, great menu and a beautiful ambiance. Must try slam dunk for the chocolate lovers.
Nathalie
Dined here for breakfast and the place wasn’t too busy, we were seated right away and the staff were very warm and friendly! They have amazing coffee and awesome menu. Plenty to choose from! We had their burger and one cabinet food. Their cabinet food looked good and very affordable also their burger was pretty good. We really enjoyed the ambiance and the vibe and will def be back!

This place was bustling with people. The staff were efficient with orders and delivering food. I would recommend going early to secure a table. I ordered eggs Benedict with bacon, absolutely recommend. The peanut slice is a peanut butter lovers dream. Perfect place for catching up with friends. 🍳🥯🥓😋

This will forever be a favourite of mine. The ambiance and amazing and the staff are always in their front foot. They are always so friendly and super attentive making me always feel valued. I’ve never had a bad experience here. <br/><br/>My favourite is the creamy mushroom. It is always made to perfection. The cream sauce is unparalleled and the sun dried tomato pesto really takes this meal through the roof. <br/><br/>all in all I highly recommend this establishment.

Worst customer service!!!! After a delay in getting our coffees that were warm, it was a VERY long wait on our meals. We waited, watched people come in and get their meals before us. We also watched 4 staff standing around at the counter doing nothing. It was after waiting 45 minutes and no update from staff, we enquired where our meals were at. We were given a blank look from our waitress which we read as ‘Opps, the order was never placed to the kitchen’. She told us it would be 6 minutes and there was no offer of compensation in terms of free coffees/drinks or subsided meal/s. After waiting another 10 minutes, we walked out with staff not even stopping to not find out why. <br/>Melba, you really dropped the ball on this one which is a real shame, because it is reputation and reviews that allow your business to thrive.

| Baked Halloumi Salad |<br/>-<br/>One of the best salads I had. They really stepped up the salad game, salads don't always have to be the conventional spinach and rocket. The pumpkin puree and roasted beetroot gave the dish the sweetness, Halloumi with the saltiness and the highlight the bites of fried quinoa which added the crunch 10/10 .

Melba is such a beautiful & stylish place. Welcomed by a friendly team who were very hospitable and patient. The food was great!! ❤️ We ordered the Pork Belly and the Chicken Schnitzel and it was delish 😍 Would recommend this place to anyone!

We met relatives for lunch at Melba in Manukau a couple of weeks ago. The cafe is large nouveau industrial style with lots of glass and metal. On a sunny Sunday it was pretty full and very lively with a great welcoming vibe, and the service was great. The menu offers a good range of lunch/brunch options. We went for the fried chicken waffle and the 5 spice pork belly. The chicken on waffle was a little disappointing as the fried chicken was ordinary and waffle was dry. The pork was well presented and tasted absolutely delicious. Our guests' kids went for junior burgers and chips, and of the 3 adults 2 chose the beef brisket burger and chips, and the other chose the Melba grill (big breakfast) - they were all reasonably sized meals and got the tick of approval from the consumers. Overall this Melba venue is well worth a visit. We intend trying out the the Takapuna venue in the near future.

Be prepared to wait. Better still, reserve in advance. Definitely try the waffles. They are a must. Dont go out without the coffee. In the pics: waffles and the big brekkie version of Melba.<br/><br/>

We were here only a few months ago and really enjoyed it. Came again with the same group and this time I was disappointed.<br/>The Halloumi Salad was awful. The flavours were all disjointed and the texture unpleasant.<br/>The Chocolate Milkshake was tasty but not cold enough.<br/>A friend had the Fish and Chips which were dry and unappealing.<br/>Consistency is imperative so I won't be back.

Great little place. Ordered the Avocado Smash and a cappuccino which all tasted really good. The cafe was pretty crowded and it took a while to order our food but the service was efficient and we got our food all at the same time so we could all eat together. I would definitely go again and try the chicken waffles which others in our party had ordered and looked really good. This could possibly be a new favourite for me.
Nadia
Service is good, shop is very nice, toilet is not clean maybe they are too busy. As $20 dollars chicken salad, the portion is too small, and you can see the avocado isn’t very good ,feel a little bit disappointed about the food.

Thank you Melba for an awesome, welcoming and delicious experience. Me and my besty loved the food! We were warmly welcomed in and service was amazing. Food was delish! We were actually meant to eat at Woodside but they messed up our booking then tried to put us in between two big Xmas parties so we decided to leave. And thankful we did. <br/>

Highly recommended! Friendly and attentive staff, great decor, and waiting times for food are great even when the place is packed. My go to dishes are definitely the xo pork noodles and 5-spice pork belly.

Melba cafe in manakau has such a good menu, everything sounds and looks so good. Their juices and smoothies are great also. I prefer this cafe Melba over the one in Takapuna as it has a better menu and is much more bigger and cosier. It is always bustling with customers. The food is good, I’ve been here a few times and would come back, probably the best cafe I’ve been too in manakau

Lovely coffee.. salmon Benedict is nice too. The popcorn shake is Devine, not too sweet. Ben there’s few times and the service and very attentive and genuine.
Ajay Sobti
Have visited twice. Both times disappointed , had a beef burger and chicken waffle was very dry and tasteless. They forgot our coffee also. It’s a very busy cafe, they should consider getting more baby high chairs. We gave our feedback once we paid but it seemed as if she didn’t really care.Never going back again.

Disclaimer: Now open for dinner - but note, the all day menu is until 3pm the dinner menu is different. <br/><br/>My husband and I decided to try out dinner for the first time, we were welcomed by the awesome team we were able to select our table, beautiful set up and the ambience felt warm and inviting. <br/><br/>We ordered Pork, chicken waffles and chicken wings, food came out in reasonable time and the food was the right temp to eat. The team were good came and checked in on us. <br/><br/>Felt like the fries that came with the waffles was a little bit weird. Food we got was great! Loved the waffle and chicken combo. Pork tasted great but I was expecting more of a Pork slab rather than slices of pork chops. But it was still good Pork. <br/><br/>We ordered dessert, it took a while to realise the dessert was out, we got a replacement dessert and it was good they acknowledge and apologise for the delay. Overall I will definitely be going back to try more. But keen on the brunch menu next time

Was in South Auckland to run a few errands and really wanted to visit this Melba for a long time. The joint was packed on a Saturday Morning but staff were lovely and helpful and seated us quickly. We ordered the mixed mushrooms, earl grey tea and the S.E.B. The homemade hash is very unique and delicious. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside also very well seasoned. Mushrooms were super creamy and had a lovely bite. Only complaint would be that they used middle bacon and I’m not the biggest fan (streaky is my preference) but other than that such a lovely cafe, with an array of awesome food options!

Had the waffle and chicken and the drink was a mint and cucumber. The service was good. Attentive staff, friendly and fast. The food came out in a timely manner. My food was ok...the portion size was alright. The chicken was tender. There wasn’t much sauce on the top. The waffle was pretty dark and I wasn’t much of a fan of it. The salad was ok. The chips were not hot. My friend said the oil tasted off on her chips so she didn’t eat hers. she ordered a burger and she said it was bland. Same as her drinks. I wasn’t a fan of my drink.<br/>For the price for my meal AND drink I feel it is way overpriced. Not too sure if I will be going back there again anytime soon.
Nicole Havea
Prompt service. Instantly greeted and seated although the chairs were uncomfortable, didn’t get a choice as to where we wanted to sit which was a bummer. The big breakfast wasn’t that great.. really bland. Shakes were good but way too sweet for our liking. Didn’t finish either but would defs give it another go 👌🏽

I can’t express how much LOVE this place! As in LOVE! I have 3 favourite meals from here... Salmon Hash, Belgian Waffles with a side of vanilla bean ice cream and smashed avo. I love to get a soy mocha (today when I went I also got the Slam Dunk milkshake) 😁 The coffee is made by 5 elements and is smooth and organic. But most of all, I love the people. The staff are always friendly and smiling - a factor that always gets a good mark in my book!

What can I say that hasn’t already been said in the posts below. My first time here with my wife and from the moment we walked in. Everything from the service to the food was amazing. My wife ordered the avocado smash and I’d ordered the fried chicken waffle after reading about it on someone else’s review. Both dishes were delicious. The prices were fair for a good size portion plate. I couldn’t get over how fast their service was. I noticed how quickly the tables were cleared very quickly soon after patrons had left. The place was busy and understandably so but the staff here were very attentive to everyone around us. I’m amazed. This is my new go to place for breakfast and lunch now. 5 stars all round.
Alexis Manders
Place is very busy, but still got our food and drink quickly; and staff were friendly enough. Food and drink were let downs. Main complaints are bad hollandaise, over cooked egg, too much spinach to hide how much salmon you actually got, dry bagel and the ‘hash brown’ is deep fried mashed potato so not a hash brown at all. But it was still okay, left full and satisfied with our meals; was just disappointed my experience didn’t match expectations or the prices
Jasmine
Had a catch up breakfast the other day with a family member and my baby. The staff were very polite. Best iced chocolate I’ve had a long time my son enjoyed it just as much if not more. The food was also amazing, although my toast was reallyyyy hard, to cut and chew I enjoyed everything else! Definitely going to be back soon.

Hot daaaaamn. What a meal! I'm always so hesitant to try fried chicken waffles as I'm a carb food hater and I'm scared of dry chicken. This has converted me for sure! The chicken was so moist and the waffles we're elevated with that cheesiness. Chips were great but the best part was that red pepper maple aioli on top of the chicken. Hit me up and pour that liquid gold down my throat, please! Whoever made that needs a pay rise. That 5-spice pork belly was out of this world as well! So we'll seasoned and all the sauces accompanied it so we'll. Mash was delicious and everything was melt in your mouth. My flat white was also nothing short of excellent. Superb service and very friendly staff topped it off for a great lunch out. Expect me back, Melba!
Gary Montrose
We had breakfast here and I had the eggs Benedict and my wife had the Salmon hash. A coffee and a hot chocolate. The staff were very friendly and the food was ok, we have had better elsewhere.<br/><br/>Just had dinner and we had 5 different meals, very happy with the quality and quantity. The menu is limited but what they offer is very good.
Alice Mcmaster
I come here alot with my daughters i personally love the place i always get the chicken sniztchel sammy an its so enjoyable ive never had an unenjoyable meal there nutella slam dunks are so delish. Price wise way to over priced i mean it id great but price wise is a bit steep. Staff is always friendly an welcoming its kid friendly which i like an my kids enjoy there kiddie meals.<br/>A must though is too prebook a table even for a coffee it gets crazy packed an your usally waiting for a table too free up if you have more then x2 people with you.
Andrew Baxendale
My first time, soon as I saw the creamy mushrooms on the menu I knew what I wanted. The eggs were perfect, the mushrooms were full of flavour. Can’t wait to come back to try their waffles next!
Anastasia Lee
Every time I come here, I love the vibe and the energy this café radiates. So much happiness and care from the staff. The exterior and the interior design of the building is beautiful, super modern and clean. The food is always on point, very tasty and fresh. I’ve been here multiple times now and I’ve never been disappointed. Very happy customer!

This rating is purely on my experience this afternoon. Been here previously n was much better but today their coffee ( cappuccino) was a bit light n lacked the usual kick. Maybe due to busy sat lunch rush.<br/>We also had iced mocha n raspberry muffin which was fine. <br/>Need to work on their consistency. I still prefer Takapuna n city outlet of Melba chain
Aimee.
This place has a separate vegan dining menu which is neat. Modern and clean cafe with an extensive range of drinks and food. Friendly staff and great service.
Vaqara_Kana
Belgium waffles were delicious, good balance of flavours and textures, if we had this alone our rating would have been 5 out of 5 as the staff were really friendly and the ambience is bright, spacious and calming. HOWEVER: 2 basic cafe staples 1) coffee and 2) eggs benedict both were dismal at Melba this morning. Eggs benedict: the egg whites were not cooked and watery. The coffee was weak and rancid. The staff were apologetic and did explain a trainee was making coffee - this didn't change the fact that I had just parted with $5 for a substandard flat white.
Khaleesi
Busy place but still spacious and airy. Good indoor/outdoor flow. Awesome service. We were well looked after. Food came out within good time. Food was very nice and well cooked. Only letdown was sugar at the bottom of my hot chocolate otherwise would have got 5 stars.
Mikael Wheeler
We had very fast service, exceptional food and drink, and the atmosphere was friendly and busy. The good level of staffing means we were never left waiting. Would recommend! :) <br/>Food- 4.5/5<br/><br/>Service- 5/5

Melba is a great cafe however is almost always packed so have to wait to be seated some days. Their all day menu is good. Really recommend their chicken schnitzel sandwich or the chicken & waffles. Love their shakes, all are quite good. Will be back.
Min Min
Love how they serve large coffee in a bowl! My order arrived within 5 mins, ideal for a hungry hungry Saturday morning XD 5 star for their creamy mushroom!

Excellent! Absolutely lovely!<br/>Great food (plating, flavour and the portion size) and very friendly staff and their service<br/>Best cafe in Manukau

Always like to patronise this cafe.<br/><br/>The foods and coffee are good, the waiting staff are friendly, efficient and courteous. The ambience is cosy and welcoming.<br/><br/>The tables, floor and chairs are always kept clean, neat and tidy.<br/><br/>Well done and keep up the great job, Melba Manukau!<br/><br/>Food & Beverage : 8/10<br/>Service : 9/10<br/>Price : 7/10<br/>Ambience. : 9/10

My friend told me about this place just the other day and it exceeded my expectations. One of the better places in Manukau. Great decoration, very spacious and good food. <br/><br/>Great coffee! Food is slightly above average, atmosphere was good. Service was average, took a while to track down any waiters.
The Kai King
This is a great place for lunch or brunch. The staff are really nice and food is amazing, however because of its popularity it’s difficult to get a table at times, that’s the only downside.
Jho Meets Food
Rating 3.5<br/><br/>Great for a meeting or brunch. Very friendly staff. Had the cake special which is the cheese cake- not overly sweet, had a crumbly and buttery cake base which is enjoyable.i could taste the scent of the edible flower (i am not sure what it is). The chocolate cake had a good balance of sweet and bitterness. Great pairing with the coffee.mocha latte was ok. Slum dunk- love the hazelnut waffer. Diabetics beware! <br/><br/>Ambience- 3.5/5<br/>Food- 3.5/5<br/>Service- 4/5

The food here is amazing, been there twice for lunch and the customer service was awesome. Very friendly team, kids have crayons to colour in their menu while we wait which is always a bonus. Can't wait to visit again.
Ishmael Chalmers
Friendly and well staffed. Busy when we went but the timing of our drinks and food was fine and you could see across to other tables that they were pleased as well. Mocha was good. I asked for a corona and was notified they didn’t have any cold bottles so I took a heiny instead and was glad they made me aware before trying to serve me a warm beer because I wouldn’t forgive that haha. Chicken Waffle could be better I feel. The meal didn’t come together. There was an undressed boring salad sitting under deep fried chicken with a stingy squirt of sauce, a plain waffle and chips sprinkled over with Parmesan. I feel this meal needs tweaking. The beef brisket burger however is delicious.
Terri Hui
Great service. The waitresses are very friendly. Food looks beautiful and tastes great. The turmeric coconut milk latte is surprisingly yummy. Really nice set up. Clean. Modern.
Aleen
It was so busy around 12-1 pm but the staff managed to pull through and cleared a table for us which was really impressive! The food was really good but the chicken schnitzel sandwich was a little dry on the inside. The aioli worked really well with the roquette and tomatoes. The chicken pizza was good and the fried chicken waffles were amazing! Overall would recommend to a friend! 💕😋<br/>

Came here on Saturday with my husband, my boss & her husband. We came for lunch to celebrate their 30th Wedding Anniversary. We all had a beautiful lunch, 2 chicken schnitzels,1 burger and 1 fish bao,s were ordered. Also we had slam dunk & caramel popcorn milkshakes....Devine!!!! The whole lunch and drinks. My bosses husband said he didnt realise Manukau had such a nice place to eat. So we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

A lovely organic atmosphere.<br/>Coffee is perfect - the most important drug on the menu. <br/><br/>I had the smashed avo with bacon. <br/>Second time eating here, and you know I’ll be back in my Arnold voice. <br/>
Vicky Lowe
yum...<br/><br/>I enjoyed very much.<br/><br/>service and food couldn't be faulted.<br/><br/>Will definately come back...<br/><br/>I had smashed avo with egg and cappachino with almond milk.<br/><br/>

We came today, 4 adults and 2 kids, for brunch. Between us all we had 3 slam dunks, house squeezed apple and oj. Melba grill, avo on toast, snitzel sandwich, eggs benny, kids baked beans on toast and kids pizza with a side of chips.<br/><br/>Our meals were all really lovely, and we were so full by the time we left. My avo on toast was delicious and it came with a huge serving of avo which is few and far between! Staff were lovely and attentive without being over bearing. They were more than happy to make the millions of changes and added sides to the meals we asked.<br/><br/>Only slight downside is it is on the expensive side. We spent around the $200 Mark for us all. All in all, great place for a treat lunch.

I went here on Easter Sunday with my girlfriends after church. It was very busy! I love the interior design so beautiful with lots of green plants everywhere ! The staff are lovely, with great manners ! It makes a true difference when the staff are smiling and giving good costumer service ! And to top it all off the food was amazing !! 10/10 !! I loved it !!
Thompson AJ
my top cafe, always my first pick. I haven't tried much of the menu as my favorite is bacon eggs bene. I have tried the breakfast wrap which was everything I wanted to eat in a tortilla. Can't go wrong! great coffee, hot or iced. And delicious house raspberry tea. very accommodate and friendly staff. there is one guy who is a golden star which I knew his name.
Natasha DeWit
Wow ! I looked at the reviews before coming here and I was a tad sceptical but I couldn’t fault anything. The food was great it was so tasty and the portion sizes were perfect for me. The milkshakes were yummy and service was awesome. Try it yourself you won’t be let down (well we weren’t).

Have been back to Melba again and again, simply because they do everything right.<br/>The atmosphere and decor is so spacious and relaxed but functional and tidy at the same time. The staff are always attentive, healthful and efficient, even when it’s packed.<br/>The coffee is consistently great. <br/>The menu covers all bases and everything I’ve tried has been super yum! The food is nicely presented and I’ve never had a massive delay on our orders.<br/>Will keep coming back for more!
Atara Jeannette Viniki
food was great. staff were super friendly and helpful. chicken schnitzel was a bit over cooked but no biggie. Would try the breakfast menu next time 😁

Went here on a quiet Easter Sunday. Surprised to see the place buzzing. Beautiful decor, very relaxed vibe. Greeted by a lovely girl named Violet who took great care of Us. I ordered the Smashed Avo , Chips & Aioli & Harrissa Chicken Pizza. I could not fault one thing. My friend order the Chicken Waffles & Salted Caramel Popcorn Shake which she really enjoyed. Especially the unique taste of the waffles. Beacuse we had a great experience with the food & didn't have room for dessert, we picked out of the cabinet; the Peanut Slice & Choc Cherry Cheesecake to-go... - DIVINE! Thank you for the wonderful food, & the friendliest staff. Such a great 1st time experience. Definitely won't be the last. If it's your first time there please try the Peanut Slice! It's a must!!

Came here twice in the past month for breakfast and more recently for lunch with a large group. A lovely spacious cafe. I ordered the “Crispy Squid”. It was lovely, however the marinara sauce was a rather odd mix with squid. Presentation of all our meals was great. Our waiter (Martin) was brilliant and helped make sure our lunch service was great. Will definitely be back again.
Brandon Haru
Great atmosphere! The staff were friendly and we didn't wait long at all to be served, or for our food to come out. The quality of the food is outstanding and fairly priced. Highly recommend for brunch if you are in the area!

We were attracted to this restaurant because of how stunning it looked from the outside!<br/><br/>The inside was beautiful too, spacious with warm wooden interior, lots of greenery, and huge glass windows that the sunlight shines in. I loved relaxed vibe :)<br/><br/>Service was attentive, we were seated very quickly despite how busy they were. All the items on the menu sounded so mouthwatering that my friends and I had the most difficult time deciding what to order! <br/><br/>I opted for the banana waffle, which was served with chocolate mousse, caramel sauce, cream cheese, passionfruit purée, and cookie crumb. It was as pretty as an artwork, with surprising bursts of flavours and textures in every mouthful! Definitely masterchef level of deliciousness. I was pleasantly surprised :)<br/><br/>My friends had the spicy lamb taco, crispy squid, and the burger. All of the presentations were pretty, and all of them were happy with their meals. While the price was not exactly cheap, the serving sizes were so generous, and the flavours made it definitely worth it :)
Amelia Takle
Awesome place to eat and food was pretty good! Also love the fact they are very accommodating for vegans. They have a whole menu just for vegans which make it easy!
Hilary Campbell
Came here for lunch and it was very busy. We managed to get a table though by the door. It's so noisy in there though when its full. Lucky while we were waiting alot of people left so it was easier to hear. Very windy sitting by the door constantly opening so we moved to another table which was much nicer. I ordered the spicy lamb tacos and man they really were spicy, had to take most of the chilli out. The taco was delicious though, nice flavours , spices, yogurt, feta and caramelised onion and the homemade taco bread was amazing. Just a shame that the yogurt sauce was way too runny so came out and made the other taco soggy, which would have been  difficult to eat, I couldn't eat the second taco as it was too much for me but it wouldn't have been as good as the first one as the bread was all wet. I would love to come here again though as the flavours were really good and my husband enjoyed his meal too
Richard Sharpe
Came here with my brother for lunch. His shout so always worth another star!<br/><br/>I had the chicken schnitzel sandwich. It was excellent. The wine I had was less memorable. <br/><br/>My brother had eggs on toast. He’s a simple creature and seemed happy. <br/><br/>The service was good. The place was clean and the food was tasty. It’s a bigger place that can be noisy when full. <br/><br/>The choices for lunch in Manukau are sorely limited. Melba is certainly one of the better places to go. Happy to recommend this place to others.
Amrita Prakash
Went to melba for the first time a bit worried about the service as we’d heard a few stories, upon getting there we realised you can’t believe everything you hear or read the food was absolutely mind blowing friendly service and our nutella milkshake to die for definitely recommend this place was worth every penny thank you melba staff and management
Victoria Velasco
Good coffee! Many options and fresh food. Good option if you are shooping or visiting manukau. Nice decoration and big enough. Have good experiences when I visited this place... Highly recommend to have smoothies. Cristian Baldassarre

The cafe looks really modern and clean<br/>The food presentation is pretty good and so is the service <br/>Wished the eggs Benedict had more hollandaise though
Trish
This is my local for lunch. Met a friend here for lunch today. Not many great places in manukau to have lunch but this place is lovely. Staff always seem friendly and helpful, we got a table straight away. I ordered the pork noodles and a mango smoothie. All was very tasteful, there were strings in my mango smoothie but that goes with the territory of mango. Friend had the chicken salad and a frappa. Overall a great place, with friendly staff and tasty food.
Sarina Tuihalangingie
Today was my fourth time dining here. As obvious as it is, I definitely love coming here. Everytime I come here I'm always greeted by the lovely wait staff and seated almost immediately even when it is crowded which generally is but I can't fault the service, the ladies there are wonderful and outgoing. The food on the other hand is exceptional and waiting time is bearable. Overall I've enjoyed everything that I've ordered everytime I've came here. My favourite dish so far is the pork noodles and waffles. Presentation of the food is well presented and the overall ambience of the place is warm and modern. So far one of my fav places to dine at. And of course I'll be back to try other things on the menu.
Alicia
Really nice environment and display of food! Wasn’t wowed by the taste but I would be willing to go back and try something else. Staff are lovely and accommodating as well.
Apriil
Had the Melba Classic Salmon Mash and it was yummy. Very filling. Atmosphere and customer service was great. We also ordered the Banana Waffles and it came out really late however in the end they offered us a free drink which was nice of them. 👍

Wow. A step above your average cafe in this area. Going to be a regular treat for us.<br/>Nice setting. Comfortable and the food was scrummy. Recommended

Would 100% recommend this place to anyone! They're so incredibly accommodating and are willing to adapt anything on the menu for anyone. Food is always delicious, service is always fast and the staff are always friendly. Have different things to fit all diets (GF, DF, V etc).
Lesley0528
We ordered a table for 5 people about half a hour ahead of time. The time when we arrived there, five seats has been set. It’s little things that matter, which made us feel welcomed. Really nice service and yummy food. A wonderful place to go for a brunch or grab a drink with friends.
Shivashni Kumar
Love the atmosphere here and the service...was very busy but our orders were served within few minutes.my kids aged 8 and 3 loved their food and drinks.would definitely return again to try more options from the menu.
May
Good is always good here but sometimes the service is a bit off, thought it doesn’t stop me from going. I’ve had both breakfast and lunch and enjoyed both menus
Rob
Had their iced mocha. Their iced mocha is made with blended ice rather than with whole ice cubes and is served with whipped cream. It's not their signature drink which is their banana jamma 2.0 but it was still good on a hot summers day.
Pamela Hutchinson
Nice fast service and super friendly owner. Great quick stop to meet a friend for lunch. Food was nicely presented would highly recommend to all
Leo Dilshan
Good customer service. Quality food. Nothing to complain about really . Flavours are great . I’d definitely go back . Nice place to have a quiet meal or a drink. Maybe just maybe they can do a tiny bit better on the garnish for eggs Benedict. Maybe a couple of asparagus or something.
Benedict Uy
Was flying out and looking for a plate to have lunch, Found this place and was surprised at how packed it was considering it was a Tuesday morning.<br/><br/>The service was quite good as was the food. Portions weren't too bad as well as the price.<br/><br/>Plenty of parking outside so it is fairly way to stop in for a quick (or slow) meal.
Heather C Bates
Visited today for a meeting with 9 others. Had arranged for use of the private room prior to arriving. Room has absolutely no air con and the temps outside are upper 20s. It was unbelievably hot and stuff inside. They provided a small oscillating fan, but that made no difference. Windows don't open and even opening the sliding door provided no comfort. Food was average. The $17 Smashed avo on bread (and I say bread because it wasn't toasted) consisted of pureed avo with no flavouring and a tiny poached eggs that oozed water. Staff were attentive, which was a positive, but it got to the point of pushy towards the end. Come to find out, they have a minimum amount that must be purchased to use the private room... $400 for 4 hours. They came back to remind us at least 3 times in the last 1.5 hours. If you don't spend that (we spent $320), they charge you for the whole amount anyway. Bad form Melba. Especially when there are free rooms offered all over manukau which include free WiFi AND air con!!!! Urban Soul has better service and much better food. Won't be going back when there are so many better options.
Naz
Rude staff. Extremely rude manager. We wanted to come in and sit and have food but we were told to throw our coffees away because they weren’t from Melba. That’s a bit extreme? We clearly wanted to eat there. Instead of explaining in a professional manner we were told “ oh I can’t have those coffees in here “. Please teach ur staff some manner and maybe a new manager? This place was great when It opened and it’s just going downhill now
I_like_pickles
Lots of parking outside this Melba. The dining space is very tidy and relaxing.<br/>The food has all your typical cafe staples.<br/><br/>The salmon was quite a generous portion. I would have like more sides to go with it though. Prices are quite reasonable.
Stephanie Tan
I enjoyed my meal this time round. But I've had coffee from this place many times and have now decided to stop trying. The coffee is weak and overpriced, and/or made poorly. It says the medium size has two shots but honestly tastes like warm milk. And you're lucky if the milk isn't burnt to be honest... I've given this place many chances but its always disappointing.
Diogo Reck
Been to so many places in Manukau as its close to my work and I'd say Melba is the best. A chain that is still able to keep quality with the bonus of a professional service and standards.<br/><br/>Staff there is adorable and they have really good food, include some desserts with dulce the leche that taste like heaven. <br/><br/>Only thing should be improved is the quality of the coffee. Most of the times it tastes sour and burned.
Hannah Gear
Went here for a work lunch. There milkshakes were really yummy but a bit pricey for what you get. I tried their salmon hash and was not disappointed. Their hollandaise was sublime and the hash had the right balance of potato and salmon.
Amy Lai
I recommend the Tempura Fish Bao. It was so good. I'm not normally a fish person but this was perfect. The fish was cooked perfectly...wasn't overly battered and didnt have a fishy smell or after taste. There was the perfect amount of sauce so you dont just taste the sauce and nothing else. The Bao wasn't dry and it had a little sweet taste.

Brunch-<br/>One of the busy restaurants in heart of Manukau. Woke up this weekend and decided to have waffles. Ordered banana cake waffles and chicken waffles, so here is my take on it.<br/><br/>Food - 4/5<br/>Banana cake waffles is served with colorful and tasteful creamy pastes. One of them is their 'dulce de leche', a caramel nutty flavor rich and just perfect amount of sweet for my buds and couple of others simply exquisite, although the chocolate cream is a bit too sweet for me. I think the waffles could be a bit more on softer side but this is my personal choice, will be sure to ask next time. But loved it!<br/><br/>Ambiance - 4.5/5<br/>Vibrant atmosphere, good to see happy people with great vibes making the place more lively.<br/><br/>Service - 4.5/5<br/>They have plenty of staff, so no need to wait to give out your order. Our server was the one from Dunedin, she was very friendly and glad to be served with a smile 👍. Food service was reasonably quick.<br/><br/>All in all thoroughly enjoyed my experience.
James Haliday
Awesome food and service :) food came out quick and tasted amazing ! I have been here with my partner a few times now and every time it has been consistent.

Great food especially the chicken waffles. I tried the XO pork noodles which has great flavour though a little small on the serving size considering the price.
Pepz Tuilotolava
Thank you so much for your amazing service today, all staffs were very friendly & funny. I would come here everyday if I could! The food is just 😍😍😍😍😍. Definitely left me & my friend very full, yet speechless!! 10/10 ❤️.

Great vibe, service and good quality food. The sort of place to kick off your Saturday morning brunch with family and friends. There is plenty of parking which is handy, plus it's right next to Westfield so one can fuel up before blowing thier gard earned cash at the mall

Melba Melba Melba this is all I have heard from my friends who live south of Auckland. <br/>For them it’s probably the nicest Resturant/food outlet they have at the moment. <br/>Went along on a Saturday afternoon. Talk about packed. To get a seat it’s pretty hard, really full, no car parks, pretty insane so if I were you I’d book a table in advance and enough time to find a car park. After getting a table we were bombard with staff asking us every minute if we were ready to order and literally we just sat down. <br/>After about five minutes we were ready. <br/>I got the Harrissa Pizza - Smoked Chicken, Moroccan salsa, harrissa aioli and coriander.<br/>Such a great tasting pizza very satisfied with what chose. I consumed the whole pizza myself and left feeling full enough not sickening full which is great. <br/>My wife picked the Tempura Fish Bao and we also shared fries. I got to try it. The tempura Fish was delicious, sauce and bao was also good but there was far too much sauce. The bao bun was swimming in sauce as well as the lettuce and veggies. Little less sauce would go a long way. <br/>The fries were really good. Overall it was a good experience minus the carparks, getting a table and staff asking us every minute of we’re ready. <br/>Loved the pizza so if I’m ever back that’s me again. <br/>

Tried this for the first time this morning. Was really nice 😀😀 Definitely keen to try more dishes. Had a nice salmon meal for breakfast this morning.

First time here and it was bloody fantastic! The staff were super friendly (for a Friday morning lol) and the meal was superb. I had the salmon hash, and was blown away. Thank you very much!

Been here twice and service never failed us. Went to have lunch earlier, a busy Sunday noon. Probably about 15 mins wait for the food but my chicken waffle was worth it. Hubby enjoyed his crispy squid but was bland for my taste. Love that they also have kids menu and my daughter enjoyed her chicken and chips.

Been here quite a few times. A little over priced but the food is amazing. Staff are very friendly and accommodating. I love that they bake onsite!

We had such a disappointing experience here. There were 6 of us and we were greeted well, the space is amazing and decorated beautifully. Unfortunately for us that’s where the positives ended. There were no vegan options on the menu (which was actually quite surprising because from what I’d heard there would be), but that’s actually fine - most places don’t have vegan options on the menu, but are more than happy to adapt or create delicious vegan meals, so that in itself wasn’t an issue really, just surprising. The waiter said she knew what vegan meant when I told my daughter and I were vegan and kept offering non-vegan options for my daughter and I. I explained that vegan meant no meat and nothing that comes from an animal and fully listed all the products this included. She still continued to suggest non-vegan things. Ordering was very difficult and quite stressful. After an unsuccessful time and many non-vegan options be suggested by our waiter I told her to take others orders and I’d look through the menu. <br/><br/>Someone else in our group was gluten free and had a very hard fine ordering also, so much that after a frustrating time she said she would just have coffee, even though she was hungry and we had gone there for lunch. <br/><br/>The waiter came back to me and I asked if she could go and talk to the chef to ask what they recommend for two vegans and explained again what vegan is. She tried to recommend something else and I insisted she talk to the chef and explained that as we’ve been vegan such a long time and not eaten those things for so long our bodies are used to them and we will get very sick. She came back and I ordered, feeling very anxious. Another of us there who has celiacs asked if she could have poached eggs and bacon. <br/><br/>We were very worried after how difficult ordering had been, but watched meals come out and they looked amazing, we were sure ours would come out and be fantastic too. It took and incredibly long time for anything to arrive (the places wasn’t even full so we aren’t sure why), our coffees took over half an hour to get to the table and one was forgotten and had to be asked for again. After about 50 minutes a friend daughter was crying because she was so hungry, she had ordered a slice from the cabinet and well as her meal, the slice was entirely forgotten about, she had to ask for it well after all our meals had been eaten. <br/><br/>The meals arrived and they were disappointing. My friend with celiac got a massive plate with one poached egg and one bit of bacon. There was no effort or care put in at all. So surprising considering the amazing looking meals we’d seen coming out of the kitchen. One of us had ordered poached eggs on toast - the poached egg had a hair on it and was sent back. My 12yo son had asked if the kids bacon and eggs was a decent sized meal or would he be better off ordering from the main menu, he was told that it was a good sized meal and quite big - he got a tiny slice of toast, one egg and one bit of bacon and was hungry afterwards - I realise this isn’t actually a error on your part, though it would have been good to have been told what it consisted of to understand the size properly. My daughter who had ordered a few different sides to make up a meal got exactly that - all separate sides in separate dishes with no effort put into making it a meal. My smashed avocado with egg and cheese removed was ok. The two sides of avocado that were ordered around the table were both bruised with browning. Our empty glasses, cups and plates stayed on the table the entire time we were there. <br/><br/>We have heard great reviews about you guys and the meals there so we were all very excited to try for ourselves. Unfortunately it seemed that our experience was one of those where nearly everything that could go wrong, did. I realise (having worked in hospitality myself in the past) that sometimes things just go wrong, and I get that, it was just disappointing that so many things went wrong for us and happened to ruin the entire experience.

Good service, yummy food selection. Only minor critique from my husband was to swirl the milk better so that the mocha doesnt look like so low tide in the cup lol. Apart from that good atmosphere, family friendly, good location, ample parking available

Had a sister catch up at Melba. The weather was horrific and we were seated right by the door. We asked to be moved as it was too cold and the staff were great and understanding. Once we were seated in a warmer spot, we were happy. I ordered the lamb pizza and the base of the pizza lacked salt. In all honesty, the entire pizza lacked flavor. I had the banana and coffee milkshake which was HEAVENLY!

Food - 3.5<br/>Price - 3.5<br/>Ambience - 4.5<br/>Staff - 4.5<br/><br/>To be fair, my family ate here when my taste buds were comatosed due to severe cold. That's probably why I found their fish burger a bit dry and bland. I couldn't taste their hollandaise, and the red onions lacked the kick to the nose that I was hoping to get.<br/><br/>Staff were baby friendly. I felt a bit embarrassed about how my son made their place his one big playground. He made a lot of mess eating while walking around. They did not mind this and still wore a smile the whole time. <br/><br/>We would probably come back here when my wife craves for her all-time fave eggs benny again. @
GreeneggsnHam
Service was great. Unfortunately i can't say the same about the food :/ i looked on zomato and saw there were good reviews and the photos looked great but as you can see in my photos the eggs bene didnt have any hollandaise sauce, the sauce was almost clear, there was no taste. Looked nothing like the other photos on here. The eggs were so small. Ice coffee was bland... spinach was too expensive for the small portion. really disappointed. Dont think i will be returning.

Melba has to be one of my most favourite restaurant/cafes. The service is quick and the staff is very friendly. My most favourite meal here is eggs benedict with bacon and I would definitely recommend Melba to everyone ☺️
Rachel Shen
I know 5 is the top but I'd still like to give a 10 <br/><br/>It is impeccable<br/><br/>Ice chocolate and Egg Benedict is really impressive. Adequate tastes full of your mouth, I was enjoying my experience here<br/><br/>I m full other wise I really like another plate<br/><br/>First time feel pity about a cafe is too faraway from my house that I can not visit as often as I like<br/><br/>
Athena
Great place! Buzzing with people, and the staff are friendly and prompt! Food arrived within 10 minutes! We had the smashed avo on sourdough, hash browns and chips, as well as coffee! Everytging was great, i can not fault anything! Will definitely be back here to tro other dishes!

We have been to Melba with family on various occasions and it has become our go to place when we want to catch up with friends/family over good food.<br/><br/>Service, food, turn over time and environment is awesome. Even for a sister who hardly eats let alone finishes any meal, she completely finished her Fried chicken on waffles as well as her mango smoothie.<br/><br/>We find it is the perfect place out in south Auckland that is central.<br/>

One of the best local cafe in Manukau, always a regular here every week and always food exceptional.  Know all the staff as well and are very friendly and managers are great!  Great food Great coffee!

Came here on a Sunday for lunch and it was packed even though the interior is very big for a cafe. From start to finish the service was very good and the waitress who served us was very patient. We had the eggs benedict, fried chicken waffles, chicken schnitzel sandwich, and Istan lamb. <br/><br/>For the benedict, the eggs were poached perfectly as the yolk was just right when it ran down. The hollandaise wasn't too sour or creamy and had a tiny lemony taste within it. However the bacon was a little cold when it got served. The chicken schnitzel sandwich and the Istan lamb had some really nice caramelised vegetables, like the onions, with a touch of sweet and sour taste. Both meat were cooked beautifully as the lamb wasn't too hard to chew and it was accompanied with some sweet sauces as decor. The chicken was hot and crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The chicken waffle was probably the best as the chicken was coated with buttermilk - the crispy texture was the part I was looking for. $60 for two is ideal.<br/><br/>Taste - 8/10<br/>Size - 8/10<br/>Service - 8/10<br/>Price - 7.5/10<br/>Ambience - 9/10

Pretty nice place. The ambiance is great and the shakes are yummmy. We got the Nutella one and the banana one! For mains I finally got to try chicken and waffles but sad that there wasn't Maple syrup poured over it. It was still nice though and portion sizes were great. My partner enjoyed his chicken schnitzel and I even got to steal some food off him! Sharing is caring 😛

They have a range of good food choices. Their hot chocolates are one of the best ones I have tried so far. Most of the food looks like really small portions but they're very filling.

Been there a number of times. This is a fabuluos eatery. Usually have Eggs Benedict and it is always great and consistent. Coffee is always good and my wife always enjoys her Mocha. Extremely busy always so it pays to ring and reserve a table. Will go again as long as the food stays the same. Very clean and friendly place to have a coffee and simething to eat.

Beautiful decor and good location, outdoor seating is perfect they have small little picnic tables for the kids to sit and enjoy their meals, came with my partner & daughter staff are great tend to you straight away. Ordered breakfast here and really enjoyed it, tables and cutlery very clean. Would recommend friends to come here

Love Melba, been here plenty of times since it's opened. It's a very busy cafe, however staff are awesome. Everyone is friendly and you get served in very timely manner. My favourite item on the menu was the 3 cheese omelette. Unfortunately after my visit there today I've discovered it's been taken off the menu, very disappointed :( We ordered the Sage & Smokehouse pizza and Chunky Fries. Both items were delicious. I also ordered the Iced Coffee, love the presentation of these. Even though my favourite item on the menu is gone, I'll still be back :)<br/><br/>EDIT: Back here once again and they have updated their menu again, I ordered the Chicken Schnitzel Sandwich. It was pretty great, only negative was that it seemed to missing the caramelised onions which were promised on the menu. Also had an Iced Chocolate which I couldn't fault. My friend had the creamy mushrooms which she also really enjoyed.

Was always busy during lunch time when l drived pass most of the day, was there last Saturday for late lunch. The waiter was really friendly welcoming us, the cafe was nice and bright, we both had the fried chicken waffle which is quite nice but the extra bacon we ordered was quite salty. My bowl of flat white was good but unfortunately my friend one's are just luke warm.
Marcel Rocked
Very good and creative recipes, sitting on solid portions of quality ingredients well cooked. Fast, efficient and friendly service. Cosy, modern looking and spacious restaurant with lots of parking. Highly recommend

Beautifully prepared and presented meal. Nicest cafe meal I have had in Manukau for some time. Food was restaurant quality. This place has definitely improved since my last visit. Great service too.

👎🏻Melba Manukau👎🏻<br/>*Absolutely disgusting service from staff and management😠😤😡<br/>*Discrimination against people with a handicap-how appalling! Shame on you!!!! This was my mums experience!!! <br/>*Went there this morning for a early lunch with a friend, premises were half full inside, so some inside tables were available & the outside area was all available. We asked for a table for 2 & the waitress told us there were none & we could only sit at the high bench table with high stools.<br/>There is no way My friend who has a bad hip & back from a medical condition could climb up onto those stools so she asked the waitress, what about the table for 4 outside, waitress said no that it is for 4 ppl only. I explained to her about my friends condition & not being able to climb onto the stools so she went and asked the manager who looked over to us & shook his head NO!!! We had to leave. BLOODY DISGUSTING!<br/>All he was worried about was $$ & he could get for 4 paying customers at that table instead of 2 yet we would of been in & out before that outside area became busy.<br/>We ended up at The lovely Manukau Urban Soul, had a lovely meal & guess what? We sat at a table for 4!<br/>#urbullshitmanukaumelba

Visited Melba for business breakfast with a work group on a Monday morning.<br/>Service? Pretty good. Not very busy, and the staff were attentive, friendly and helpful.<br/>Coffee? Awesome.<br/>The breakfast meals, although a good size and value for money, were the least pleasant part of our visit. Eggs were, with the exception of those who had omelettes, stone cold. Sausages were lukewarm and insipid.<br/>Suggestion: Don't serve cold poached eggs on top of refrigerated avocado on top of cold toast. A bit stingy with the hollandaise.<br/>Reccomend: the coffee is great, and the staff are good. The food was neither.

Had a late breakfast on a Saturday didn't make an appointment which I would suggest specially on a weekend and this place gets busy. Staff were great in making space for us. Had the gentleman's breakfast which was fabulous. Highly recommend

Came in this morning with work colleagues and ordered the usual smashed avocado as we would in ellerslie as it is a favorite. When the food arrived we noticed that there was only 1 piece of sourdough with avo and an egg and a side salad. The difference between ellerslie branch and manukau is that ellerslie serves 2 pieces of sourdough with an enormous amount of avo and a big egg. The price is still the same-$17 but with manukau offering less on the plate. Very disappointed with this and wont be returning to this cafe.

Food and Flavour: 4/5<br/>Ambience: 4.5/5<br/>Seating: 4/5<br/>Service: 3.5/5<br/>Value for Money: 4 /5<br/><br/>We ordered Eggs Benny and Mushrooms on Toast and absolutely loved them ...The mushrooms were fresh and it was one of the besttttt Creamy Mushrooms I have ever had. <br/>The Third time we came we ordered the same but a different order all together , but since we were short on time we settled for what we were served. They girl who took the order didnt seem very apologetic about it but the helpless smile from the waitress who served us melted my heart . I did not want her to get into trouble. We will definitely be back for more in the future.

This place is nice , manakau one looks the best. great place for catch ups with people nice outdoor area to😄. Defiantly gotta go back n try something else 🤔

Love coming here. The atmosphere is always great and it's a unique and quirky place.<br/>The staff are always great. Creamy mushrooms with chorizo and the latte was lovely too<br/><br/>Highly recommend!

Let's take your classic avocado and smash it, pair it with a rocket and feta salad that's perfectly dressed with balsamic and present it before a starving man who has just walked the mountains of the south. That my good people, is a yum yum situation. Add a side of smoked salmon and you've got a 5/5 experience. <br/><br/>The coffee was perfect, the staff were friendly and the atmosphere was warm.<br/><br/>Go here. Do it. You know you want to.<br/><br/>My friend said the chicken sandwich was off the charts too. She's spanish though, so who knows what the norm is over there.<br/>

Great cafe. Service was good. They do not take bookings as they are always busy. So not the ideal place to go to on a weekend with a large group. However, great cafe sort of food. Try the Slam Dunk for the chocolate lovers.

nice place, looks clean and staff are friendly. <br/>Drinks are really good, we ordered the coffees and milkshakes. <br/>Food was almost perfect... only downside was the mushrooms I ordered were slightly burnt tasting...
Bubbly Peanut Butter
One of the best place to grab lunch while working around there. <br/>Food has always been consistently good, including their coffee. <br/><br/>Most of the time, I grab their salads as they are refreshing. <br/>This time I had their Thai beef, it had a nice mix of citrus taste and spicy. <br/><br/>Decor is lovely with their plants and spices all around. Place is pretty comfortable and enjoyable. :)

We had a lovely Mother' Day brunch here. The café coped well with the busy crowd and our party of 5 ordered coffees to tide us over until our table was ready - Melba were so efficient that we had our table before our coffees were made! We had friendly staff look after us who also obliged our request to have a group photo. We enjoyed our meals, I devoured my smashed avocado with an extra egg (it only comes with 1 egg). Great café!

Took our family of 7 thinking it might be great to celebrate mothers day with western food rather the usual chinese stuff. Atmosphere was good and as expected there was a queue. When seated the waiter arrived promptly to get our orders. Mo problem there. Food finally came but they looked rushed and poorly prepared. Our 80-yr old Mum ordered a waffle chicken and the skin was burnt to carbon. Thinking that it was part of the dish she ate through the lot until I saw the burnt part and stopped her. Mum is the type that seldom complains about anything but I can tell even she is struggling. The waffle was salty not from parmesan cheese but from table salt. <br/>All in all food was bland - maybe not advisable to bring family over on a super busy day.

Used to love coming here but it can be a bit busy and you will get seated where ever they can place you. Still love the food but I give this place a miss nowadays.

Our only favorite place to hang out for brunch currently in South Auckland. They served a Bircher muesli with grilled pineapple, blueberries and mangoes. Nom! But I would say the portion was very small for the price. The eggs Benedict on the salmon stack was lovely and a generous portion. Also tried they iced raspberry tea, very refreshing. We were sat outside in the conservatory area. It's a nice local place. Seems to be very busy all the time so they must be doing good.

I booked for 16 people for my friends hens party lunch. Staff s were fantastic! vibrant and accommodating. Food and drinks were great!<br/>Thank you guys!

Tried a risk with what I ordered for lunch and risk came through. Perfect crispy chicken on waffle, everything on that waffle was amazing and very filling. A bit pricey and would have expected some more chips with the dish but definitely filling and delicious.

For coffee. This place has the best barista! <br/>He makes my neddy dirty chai with almond milk to perfection and the best extra shot soy flat white!
Shirley
Love this place for breakfast favorite is the salmon hash, has great parking just outside the door. Our Post Office Box is right by so it's always tempting to pop in for a cuppa !!<br/>Staff are always lovely and friendly :)
Maryanne Louise Hilton-Taufua
Really dissapointed with the food here, ordered meal, poached eggs were rock hard, mushrooms like rubber, home made hash brown was deepfried and over cooked. Smoothie ordered came out warm. Waste of money. Won't be going back. When paying the only feedback was "I will pass comments onto chef"
Jasveen Kaur
Didn't expect a chain cafe to be this awesome! Came here on a Sunday mid morning for brunch on a whim as was in the area and a lot of other places were closed. Got told where our table was but when we went there via the cabinets, people had just gone and taken the table without waiting to be seated. Has profuse apologies from the waiter but we were happy to sit at the very spacious and comfortable bar.<br/><br/>The decor is gorgeous. Chilled out airy modern barn style. Kept finding cool light fittings or other details as I was looking around.<br/><br/>The food was delicious. I had the 3 cheese omelette, the caremelised onions just made the whole dish. My partner had the big breakfast which was also awesome. Yummy tender sausages, flavourful hash brown that had cumin in it and well poached eggs. The coffee was also delicious. The staff were very accommodating when we couldn't finish our meals or huge coffees and asked for takeaway box/cup. Am definitely coming back to try more of the menu and the cabinet food!<br/><br/>Sorry about the lack of photos, my phone died after taking the first one!
Mmm.
Great coffee and impeccable service! Had the ginger and oat slice which was divine. Very keen to come back and try their other food on offer. Check this place out!
Sara Lichtwark
Had lunch here today with my in-laws and husband. Just about packed out. Fish tacos were disappointing, just 3 small pieces of fish across 2 tacos. Coffee was lukewarm when it arrived, which was after we had started our meal. Had to ask for knives and forks. Service was good if slightly harried by the number of people there. Rest of the food seemed fine, and pricing was fair.
Aanchal Manchanda
The ambiance of this place is great! Awesome garden feel cafe. The food was good, I wouldn't say great as I've had a better big breakfast. The dish was a little too salty, but I'd go back to try some other appealing dishes

Melba is seriously one hipster place which attracts all the Instagram fanatics. Not only is this place Instagram-worthy the food here tastes exactly how it looks! Irresistibly GOOD! <br/>I ordered the fried chicken on waffles which was delicious. I'm not usually a fan of chicken waffles because the combination of sweet paired with savoury doesn't excite my palate so this dish was incredible as it was all savoury. The parmesan waffles were so delicious and so innovative. It complimented the crispy fried chicken really well.<br/>Definitely heading back to this joint.
Mana Katsukawa Otimi
Slam dunk was so delicious. For people with a sweet tooth 😜 <br/><br/>Service was okay sometimes they would come up and then get distracted and go to another customer but this place is JAM PACKED with people. Beautiful cafe, recommended
YumYum
Went there with my friends and food was very good. Staff was very friendly. Definitely a good place if you are having a meeting in manukau. Price wise it is on higher side. ☺☺☺☺

Always a great place to come. Have been here a few times and food is always tasty fresh and delicious. Great friendly service and atmosphere is always spectacular rain or shine. Will always come back here for a treat.
Dion Nelson
creamy mushroom and chicken snitzel was delish, good service and well worth the price, the orange juice was actually orange juice, not cordial out of a bottle. definetly be back.

Went to Melba manukau for brunch this morning, ordered the muesli with fresh fruit. Meal look great as we were waiting for the other meals to arrive a moth larvae crawled to the side of my plate. They took it away I changed my order to poached eggs and toast. Eggs came out hard boiled. Service was good food was not!!!!
Michellet16
3 cheese omelette <br/>Tasted like scrambled eggs could not taste the cheese, needed a lot more flavour, was not an omelette at all. <br/>Coffee is good.<br/>Service is good too.
Fega Few
Just had breakfast here - Smash avo, hash & ice chocolate. <br/>Delicious Ice Choc - <br/>Hash was more of a samosa - guess i was looking for a traditional Hash Brown taste. <br/>could hardly taste Avo - Dukkah was overpowering<br/>It Was an average meal .<br/>Staff/ Customer service was a big thumbs up !<br/>will definitely be back tho to try other meals :)

Came here for a brunch with my friend. Service was excellent despite it was super busy 5/5! I ordered a pork belly roll along with the mango smoothie and my friend had a fried chicken waffle with a drink called slam dunk. I love their presentation, it was really cute. Fabulous food and it had filled me up until dinner. I would rate it 4.5/5! Definitely, would love to come back again 😊

Such an awesome cafe! Got the Fried Chicken Waffles and the Slam Dunk milkshake. The chicken was crunchy, well seasoned and succulent. The chips were also crunchy with a soft centre, and the aioli over the top was creamy, rich and perfectly complemented the meal. And boy was the slam dunk rich! Tasted like a thick Nutella milkshake. Free guest wifi and clean bathrooms, with a great interior. Very happy with this place and I will definitely be back!
Jimon007
I tried many places for brunch but this place is no 1 in my list. Great atmosphere, wonderful staff, fantastic display of food and yummy food at a reasonable price. Coffee is fantastic too. I was there 8:30am on Sunday and saw many people which doesn't surprise me at all. Highly recommended!
Marie
Love this place , service is always excellent. We often go out for brunch with our children. The food is always fresh, very well presented, and delicious. I love their creamy mushrooms. My daughter had the waffles today and they were amazing. The portion sizes are also very generous. Melba has continued to keep its high standards since opening. Well done team 👍🏻

I went to Melba today for a late lunch with my sister and I'm surprisingly disappointed. I'm a regular customer usually go twice-three times a month and I love their honey garlic chicken salad and would usually devour it in 2.5secs. This time I struggled to eat it the chicken was dry and over cooked, there was no love put in the dish and when I asked why?? I was told there has been a change of ownership and a change of chef which is probably why the quality has declined considerably. My sister had the chicken and waffle dish which was just indigestible the chicken was oily and flavourless and the waffle was eggy, doughy and soggy from the chicken oil. The fries that came with it were overcooked and brown-ish. I'm sad to say that I was embarrassed to have introduced my sister to Melba when she came from Melbourne where the food is impeccable. The rating is purely for the service which was great apart from the awkward cashier that looked at us nervously when we came to pay. I may reconsider visiting Melba again in the far future to give them another chance but I'm definitely not going back for a while, as I was left feeling nauseous and sick after today's experience. Uggghhh!!!

Went there today with my partner for brunch, although the service was very good. I cannot say that for the food. We ordered the three cheese omelett, when it came out there was a bunch if dried up rocket on top - asked our waitress for a side bowl to put the dry rocket in and asked to add olive oil for flavour. The omelett has to be the most blandest omelett I have ever tried, I couldn't taste any cheese it was like it was all egg. My partner ordered creamy mushrooms, once again was very average and bland- they were too busy and we were starving so we ended up eating it. We then ordered carrot cake once again average, the cake was so dense and stale we only ate half. We ordered juices even they were not fresh as we were told freshly pressed they were warm, so asked for ice. When we went to pay our bill I couldn't believe how much we got charged- a complete rip off for a below average meal. Only good thing was the service. Maybe their chefs should taste their dishes before leaving the kitchen??

Wanted to try this place for a long time after seeing my friend post about it. I ordered the salmon eggs bene and my partner ordered the mushroom dish. Eggs bene was good, nothing to rave or complain about. The mushrooms were probably better, the added parmesan just made the dish a whole lot better. The coffee was ok, definitely had better elsewhere. Would love to come back to try the waffles.

I had lunch at Melba with friends. Melba grill (with smoked bacon, bratwurst, Portobello, vine tomato harsh brown, eggs & grain toast) was OK. Photos also show pork belly roll (with kimchi slaw, pork crackle & chips), scrambled eggs (with smoked bacon, harsh brown & grain toast), fried chicken waffle & honey garlic chicken salad. Taste of salad was below average; the pork crackles were definitely not good - looked fake & tasted terribly.  (Food - 3/5; Service - 3.5/5; Ambience - 3/5)

Beautiful place, really nice environment, attentive and amazing staff. The food is so so beautiful and fresh. Love it, definitely recommend :)

Went here today for our work Christmas lunch. Let's just say I won't be going back. Service was fine but the food (some version of lamb pizza) and drink (Lemon lime bitter which according to Melba is only lemon water) was not good and sadly, it was not just me. Some of my colleagues also commented that the their food was bland and not as nice as they had expected since it was a fairly busy place (which in my world implies good food hence the crowd). <br/><br/>It may have been just my experience but hey, they still made money right so it's all good.

Been here a couple of times for lunch, both with a toddler. All staff super friendly and food and was really good and quick to arrive. Today I had fish tacos and husband had fried chicken waffle. He said it was the juiciest fried chicken he'd ever eaten. Smallest of suggestions, offer a couple of the mains as smaller options (ie fish taco as one, as two).

Love their food and setting! Their eggs benedict was delicious and the service was great considering it being a peak time Cant wait to visit again!

Food was delicious. We are on our way out of town and needed a quick and simple breakfast place. Melba did not disappoint! It is a bit expensive but definitely worth it for a special treat. I would come back!

Without Question the BEST CAFE in Manakau..<br/>Superbly Run...Brilliant Staff.<br/>Beautifully made Coffee..And YUUUUUU ALWAYS COME OUT WITH A SMILE ❤😏😣

This is my friends and I classic hangover spot to go to when we go to my best friends house to stay over the bridge and want a big meal to help us cure our hangovers haha! I've had the smashed avocado on toast and that was really good and also the eggs bene another time which unfortunately was very average. But I would still go back, cause the ladies who serve us each time are great! Also the slam dunk gourmet shake is bomb, defiantly should try that if you go.
Roana Bilia
If youre planning on spending the day shopping in manukau, hit up this place beforehand. The portion sizes are alright but the flavours are pretty good. The pork belly open sandwich was a table favourite. Dont have any photos but all of their shakes are surely worth a shot. <br/>Also, the place is MASSIVE! so you wont be waiting for a table and its perfect for big groups (work place breakfast/lunches) etc.
Momo
I've tried 2-3 main dishes from here, was okay tasting with no particular wow factor. Ice drinks from here tasted super bland. The space inside the actual place was huge though and decor quite cosy. Would make a good catch up for coffee only type of place.

Specifically requested eggs well-done, safer in pregnancy, got runny, sent back and moments later cold hard eggs were returned! Bacon is processed rubbish. No Gluten Free/Coeliac meals as no area is specifically gluten free, deep fried chips are cooked with gluten foods. Not pregnancy or Coeliac friendly.

The portion size here are alright. The price is quite expensive. The quality of the food is just okay as well. The service is good and the atmosphere is good. I just wish the price can match the quality of the food. I got the 3 eggs omelette and the bf got the crispy pork baguette.

we had the big breakfast, avo smash, eggs been, long black, flat white, mocha and fluffy.. bene was small but very tasty.. not smothered in hollandaise which is great.. dad had the smashed avo and really enjoyed his.. the sausage on the big breakfast wasn't the best but the coffees were great and it didn't take long for food to arrive.. very clean inside and great wait staff also.. we have been back since and my hubby got the crispy pork which was nice also

I've been wanting to roll into this new cafe ever since I heard it was opening. Their original store in the city does amazing coffee, food and service! I came in for the coffee I was dying for (and expecting to be amazing) but was left incredibly disappointed in my coffees. When i walked in, the tables were pretty full, when I went to the till, the staff didn't seem to be too busy running around, but I still had to wait a bit to be served. No greetings or anything. I ordered both a small long black and a small soy flat white and an iced coffee for someone else. I waited about 15mins for my 3 takeaway coffees while watching about 3 other coffees go out to tables...my long black was filled to the very top of the cup, no crema at all, not necessarily burnt but was gritty tasting! Both my coffees tasted like water😞. I asked if the iced coffee had and type of flavouring (i wanted none) or sweetener and the girl said no, but it came out blended with Vanilla sweetener and with cream on top! You guys need to back flush your machine in between busy periods and check our grind size please!

Came for lunch on a Monday. The place is spacious, clean and has good service. The downside is the lack of options on the menu. I ended up getting waffles, with nutella, ice cream, bacon and raspberry. It looked and tasted great. I would prefer more sides, as It didnt last me till the end. My partner had chicken salad which was tasty and well balanced. Overall good cafe meal especially out here in South Auckland.

I came here a couple of months ago with my friends and it was an okay experience. I came here with my friends and we were greeted and seated straight away in the outdoor area. Love the fresh vegatble garden. It gave a lovely feel to the outdoor area.<br/>Drinks - Cuppocino, Iced chocolate & Mango smoothy. All tasted great!<br/>To eat - The journeymans breakfast, A Chorizo sausage omlete thing and I ordered the Salmon Hash. My friends had received their food within minutes and I was expecting mine as well. But I had waited for nearly 15mins, and my friends were nearly finished with their food where I had to ask the waitress where my food was. She got back to me saying it would be out in 5 mins but I didn't get an apology for the delay. When it came out it was just mashed potatoes mixed with Salmon with a poached egg on top. I do not see why that would've taken so long just to cook. I was not impressed!! The presentation was beautiful but it stops there, the poached egg and sauce was delicious but the Salmon Hash was like baby food. It didn't taste great to me, it didn't have much flavour!<br/><br/>But I am willing to come back here again, hopefully with a better experience.<br/><br/>Food -2.5/5, Service - 2/5, Ambience - 4/5

A much needed cool brunch spot in Manukau.<br/>Unfortunately I was here one Saturday around lunch time and ended up waiting 20 minutes for a drink and an extra 15 mins for food. It became obvious that our order had been forgotten. <br/>The menu isn't that extensive but the food was nice and I am willing to give this place another shot.

Omg i love love Melba i akways book a table for me and my group as its soo packed during kunch hours. the Pulled pork, melba grill, belgium waffles and salmon hash, their shake, the service is lovely and prompt. We had a late comer to lunch which we preordered for and had to keep prompting the waitress for the meals and drink too. Otherwise fantastic place with a type of rustic farm feel but still elegant at the same time i love coming here.

This place is a hidden gem, great food service AA++ coffee good too....will be back for sure keep up the great work guys didn't expect this but yeah great job.

Called in this morning for a peaceful breakfast with my 5 month old. The staff were fantastic. Menu is easy, all I felt like was poached eggs, but then added a side of avocado and their house made hash browns. Everything was just divine. Thank you Melba for making my morning :)

Over priced. Coffee was ok though.<br/>Ordered eggs bene, literally got 2 pieces of toast, 2 poached eggs, hollandaise sauce, and 6 sprouts as a garnish. Not really worth the $18 they charged. Service was fast though, and the cafe is well designed. The fireplace in the middle was an excellent touch.

So here's what went down. Basically I wanted an almond milk latte poured over ice (which I made clear when I ordered). Ended up waiting 15 mins for this strange blended concoction which tasted like straight sugary syrup and had whipped cream on top. I don't understand why they would put whipped cream on top of a drink that has almond milk (especially without asking first). Also a coffee over ice should never have unspecified sweetners added to it. Pls show some concern for dietary requirements. Otherwise nice place

What a lovely and modern place to have a brunch on a Sunday morning. Despite this place being packed we managed to get a seat for the two of us. We ordered the tropical smoothie, creamy mushrooms, crispy pork belly and the salmon soba. <br/><br/>Food took a while to come but it was understandable due to the amount of people there. The creamy mushrooms were amazing. Couldn't fault it. The salmon soba also had some great flavours. I was disappointed with the crispy pork belly as they weren't crispy. They did have some good flavours tho. If they had crispy crackling, it would definitely be a stand out dish. <br/><br/>Overall, we were quite impressed with this place. The mushroom dish was my favourite of the day. Looking forward to coming back here in the future.

They have a great range of cabinet food.<br/><br/>Friendly and efficient staff.<br/><br/>We order salmon hash and egg benedict with salmon the food was delicious.<br/><br/>Highly recommend this place!!

MELBA, I'm in love! <br/>I dined here for brunch with 4 other friends on a sunny Sunday morning so understandably it was very busy - and for good reason! Although we did not have the best table (high table and chairs by counter) the atmosphere and experience surely made it worthwhile. The interior of the place was very stylish and fresh which really enhanced the vibe of Melba. I ordered the Belgium Waffles which I can hand on heart say were the best waffles I have ever had! It came with an unusual accompaniment of Nutella, vanilla bean ice cream, berries, hazelnut praline and best of all a battered banana! I added the bacon, which really did surprisingly tie in all the flavours. The service was immaculate, as was the food and gourmet milkshakes (I tried a sip of my friends jelly tip recreated smoothie!)- can't wait to return here soon.

It's a refreshing place to have breakfast at,nice atmosphere and the food was gorgeously presented, they had a good selection of food and that isn't easy considering it's breakfast definitely coming back to try The rest of the menu

It's so great to see such a cool place in South Auckland. The decor is super on trend with wood, matte black fixtures, subway tiles and hanging lights. Definitely my kind of cafe! I came here for brunch and was impressed with the menu, but even more so that you could "make your own" breakfast...

One of the newest and largest Melba cafe in Auckland, Melba Manukau is a comfy and airy place to relax and enjoy a weekend brunch. The open space with high ceiling, glass walls that brings in plenty of lights, combination of metal and wood furniture and the planters with edible blooms and greens all add to its charm. We came early so got seated quickly and the service was friendly and efficient. The food was superb and none of the poached eggs was overcooked. Highly recommend!<br/><br/>We ordered the Salmon Hash, Smashed Avocado and Creamy Mixed Mushrooms

Excellent welcome food was good and the service very pleasant. Nice to see another quality local eatery I will be back.

Came here when it first opened and was a great experience. I love the modern furnishings, kinda quirky and the food was great . Nice atmosphere - little bit pricey but worth it

Went for breakfast on my own mid-week. Food was nice, service was ok. They brought my food reasonably promptly, but my cup of green tea didn't turn up. By the time I decided it wasn't going to show I'd finished most of my meal and decided I didn't want it anymore. They took it off the bill easily enough with an apology, but there were only 5 others in the place so not sure what happened.

First time trying out this new cafe and I was pleasantly surprised. Came here on a Saturday afternoon around 1pm and the place was packed! We got the creamy mixed mushrooms and the melba grill. The menu itself isn't very extensive compared to other Cafes however, the food did not disappoint. Flavours and portions were great. We can't wait for our next visit.

On my way to work, I decided to pop into Melba to grab a coffee and a small piece of chocolate slice. I'm new to working in this area so being aware of popular/trending cafes is essential for a coffee junkie like myself!<br/><br/>I was impressed with the cafe, it looks cool and super enticing from the outside and inside. I ordered a mocha and a small gluten free chocolate slice. The mocha was much too sweet for my liking but the choc slice was super delicious! I'm already planning my next proper visit with my partner.<br/><br/>Update: with my partner visiting, we decided to come here for my lunch break today. We ordered the raspberry white choc muffin - delicious! And a margarita pizza... The pizza really lacked seasoning and tasted very plain, kind of disappointed but hey at least we know for next time. My flat white was alright! <br/><br/>All in all... Melba manukau is a nice modern cafe with friendly staff. I'm still not 100% sure about the food so a third visit is warranted :p <br/>

Possibly the best cafe in the area. Great food and consistently good coffee. The staff are very attentive and friendly as well. Decent sized place with good indoor and outdoor seating options with lovely decor 👍

yummiest place to get an eggs Benedict. Very good customer service and the place looked great.. so modern, bright and open. Went here for my 3rd year anniversary breakfast. my partner had the waffles and I had the eggs bene.. with two very yummy milkshakes one made with Nutella the other with banana and espresso. Defently would come back here again..

Have been here a few times with work colleagues, the meals are quite good, large portions, and you can make reservations if you have a larger group. The pulled pork in particular is one of my favourites. Our servers have always been really welcoming and friendly. It's good to see a new cafe style restaurant in Manukau for all the workers in the area. Make sure you try out their milkshakes - they're really good!
Shiksha Sridhar
We went here with a rather large group on a Sunday lunchtime. The staff were able to accommodate us pretty quickly even though we had people trickling in over a period of almost an hour. After awhile, some of us placed our orders and it was a pretty busy day so some of the orders that came our were incorrect. Having been to the Vulcan Lane Melba, I think I had really high expectations as the service in the city is very good. After some of the late comers arrived and put through their orders for breakfast, they received their orders before the ones who had placed their orders awhile ago. Not sure if it just got forgotten, but suffice to say we were pretty hungry by the time the orders came around.Food itself was delicious - so cannot fault it there. Am thinking it was probably just a busy day and we were a group that were a little all over the show ourselves. Nevertheless, it was a bit disappointing to receive our meals after other people arrived, placed their orders and received them.

First time eating in Melba today with friends, quite a neat joint, nice open space, friendly welcome from the waitress, we chose to eat outside. From the decor to the table and stools, to the counter with all that sweety goodness, it was different, and i like different. Sitting outside was nice, except the insects crawling around... would be because of the plants next to us but i tried not to let that kill my experience. We ordered and recieved our cuppas and the food came out at a reasonable time, we didnt wait long. Portion was good for what my friends ordered, presentation was colourful and mouth watering. At $21 for their version of Big breakfast i thought it wouldve been 'big'.. or maybe i was just real hungry lol. All in all, the customer service was great, the atmosphere, portion for some was also... but im sorry to say it was quite bland for us all. The pizza was ok, but the base was pretty thick and pretty burnt underneath. I tried their White choc raspberry muffin, that was yummy. Thanks Melba, maybe next time.

Great to have a cafe like this in Manukau. Nice vibe and friendly service.<br/>Food wise, some items on the menu are good while others are not. The first time I went, I had the pulled pork but didn't enjoy it. The pork was so sweet, the pretzel baguette was weird (this was the reason why I ordered it), and the chips came out cold and not crispy. <br/>The 2nd time I went I had the Dawnbreaker pizza and it was so yum!! Had all the ingredients I love (bacon, chorizo, tomato, mushrooms) with a poached egg and the size was big as well.

It's good to see this cafe up in the south. I've been to the one in Ellerslie and thoroughly enjoyed their food there. There is a lack of decent cafes in the south and the addition of Melba is truly welcomed. Good food and a great space to accommodate a lot of people.

Good atmosphere & vibe. Friendly staff :) Had Bacon Benedict. The wait was not too long. Great location & parking spaces. My friend had waffles & a Soy Latte, her comment was it was a bit watery, maybe the barista needs a work on their soy milk steaming. I just had water. Also on the side had a savoury muffin, very dry, even afterwards with butter spread on, still very dry to my likings. My ranking hugely goes towards outta presentation with the decoration of the cafe, table lay outs, outdoor seatings, culinary food presentations & staff well presented with everyone with a smile on their face. Food was in general average to me.

My husband and I decided to check this cafe out this morning. Have heard great things about it from my sister. We weren't greeted by anyone when we arrived, I had to ask a waiter if we just sat anywhere or? He took us to a table, got us our menu, and another awesome waiter took our order. Very friendly. I ordered the breakfast avocado salad my husband the salmon bene. A bit disappointed in mine, not that anything was wrong with it, apart from I like a little more dressing on my salads... But very filling and nicely presented. My husband enjoyed his brekkie, and he tried the ginger latte. I'm not a fan myself but he seemed to like it. My coffee however I felt was a little on the week side. No-one cleared our plates so didn't bother with a second coffee. Just seemed a little disorganised, maybe staff could be assigned to own areas/tables? <br/>I will be back to read the menu carefully and try something new. Nice setup Melba.

Finally, an amazing cafe in Manukau! <br/><br/>Decided to give this place a go and was very pleasantly surprised. We were greeted by very friendly staff and grabbed a seat outside. The cafe has a very nice vibe, quiet earthy but fresh, I really like the little herb garden ledge that surrounded the outdoor seating area. <br/><br/>I ordered the mushroom and chorizo dish and I don't normally like mushrooms but this was absolutely amazing, The flavors were beautiful and there was nothing I could fault. I also ordered a mocha which was good but I felt their coffees were really strong. <br/><br/>The menu is a little on the pricier side but I would say worth it. I will definitely become a frequent visitor!

The food here is amazing but part of having a successful cafe is the ambience. So when I come into a cafe an hour and a half before closing time I don't expect people to be sweeping and mopping literally right under my feet, bringing in tables and chairs from outside and blocking people's walk way. I'm am still sitting in my chair at 3:20pm trying to enjoy my delicious brownie but t unfortunately can not get past the dominant smell of disinfectant and the songs with word I don't think I can repeat in this review. <br/>As a fellow hospo worker I understand the want to get out of work as fast as you can but I'm sorry this is ridiculous, when one of the worker comes to our table with no word and just yanks the sugar tin off our table and when finished refilling it pretty much slams it back on the table. <br/>Not a good experience.
Sameeta
Place was packed. We had 3 people in total and were asked to sit at the breakfast bar, despite a table being available, just because the group behind us had 4 people. Normally wouldn't mind but I had my 7 year old, so eating on a bar stool wasn't practical. <br/><br/>Coffee was great, I had the waffles, was mouth watering delicious!! Cannot wait to go back and have some more. Had to wait about 20ish+ minutes for food but the place was packed. <br/><br/>Overall, will go back. Nice clean modern atmosphere. Staff were friendly. <br/><br/>

Such a great cafe!<br/><br/>I have been here twice now and got the creamy mushrooms have been delicious both times. The serving is very generous which is great. Their chai latte however was not pleasant at all. There was too much cinnamon and was almost cold. The second time I went my hot chocolate was also cold, but the staff was great about it and made me another one which was extra hot!<br/><br/>Great food and great service! Would definitely go again.
Winnie Luo
Yay for a decent cafe in Manukau!<br/><br/>The place looks wonderful, very nicely decorated and very open layout.<br/><br/>Staff were alright, seemed abit unorganized in a huge cafe. Maybe if they designated each staff to an area the service could improve and the staff has the opportunity to be more attentive to diners' needs.<br/><br/>The food was very satisfying, not the most amazing cafe food I have had but very decent and I would return to try more! My partner ordered an eggs benedict, the base was a bit too soft and didn't go perfectly with the nicely poached eggs on top. The omelette was nice but didn't really have much fillings. The seedy bread it came with were amazing though! <br/><br/>Coffee was nice, a bit on the weaker side but very well done. <br/><br/>Good first impression, excited to try more!
Sheena Kumari
Friendly staff, cute place! Well served portion will defs go back as there are more things I would like to try on the menu, but they did a good job for the Mumbai express pizza and their chicken burger! Wasn't so busy so didn't have to wait to be seated or for our food everything was just good :)
Samantha
Awesome new little cafe that is always so busy. Been here a few times since discovering it only a couple of weeks ago. Food is nice with lots of different variety ranging from Japanese and fish Tacos to Eggs Bene. Good for large groups of people who have different meal preferences as there is something for everyone. Staff are always friendly with big smiles. Pricing is reasonable, portion sizes are good. All though it would be nice to have the option of egg whites for breakfast items. Other than that definitely becoming one of my fave cafes.
SS
I love new cafes because I love urban/modern touches to the decor and Melba was everything I expected it to be and more. Love love love the decor inside and out. We arrived mid afternoon and cafe was absolutely packed. Staff were obviously super busy running about as there were a couple of groups waiting around confused as to where we order.  There was a line at the counter, so we lined up… Came our turn and asked whether we order at the counter before being seated and she said yes - seriously felt so rushed. <br/><br/>We ordered the Belgium waffles w fruit, icecream and caramel corn and eggs on 5 grain w spinach, a bratwurst and avocado. <br/><br/>We paid and walked around looking for a table.<br/><br/>Quite annoying to see other diners seated with menus and table service…… <br/><br/>Food was decent - nothing to write home about though. Took about 30 min for food to arrive, ok given full house. Prices don’t quite reflect the food… $4.5 for a med sized average sausage seemed a little steep. <br/><br/>

Decent little cafe. After being here once I preferred my meal & drink over urban soul. Atmosphere is great & service was good, super yummy breakfast & drink. One thing that disappointed me is they don't offer their eggs as egg white only because the egg is pre mixed :s which is a big thing for me...

It's so nice to have somewhere decent to go for coffee and a bite, besides the mall. M's refreshing and new and the staff are great. The menu's your typical up to date cafe fare but like I said, it's great to be able tongi somewhere new and refreshing. As it's summer too, I love the windows that open right around most of the building. We ordered together the boysenberry/bran muffin (Delish!), white choc muffin, omelette, mushrooms and quiche Lorraine w. a trim flat white (nice and hit) & 3 lots of English breakfast tea. We all left happily fed and watered.

Finally visited this cafe after hearing lots of good things about it. I had a cuppacino and a gluten free blueberry friand. The coffee was a little bit bitter for my taste but the friand was very tasty and beautifully presented.

Visited Melba twice now! Great cafe in Manukau (we don't have enough places like this).  Nice to have another option besides my other favourite in the area Urban Soul. Love the set up of Melba, nice and open with a cool breeze on a hot Saturday afternoon. The pizzas are great, chips are nice and the service was good. Tried a green smoothie which were good and had beers the other time.  Wish they had more of a range of food, but hey, the food on the menu is great!<br/><br/>Nice, clean, modern cafe - recommend for catch ups!

I nearly wept with happiness when these guys opened in Manukau, Melba is a little slice of Auckland Central in South Auckland. It's run by the same guys who do Bread & Butter in Grey Lynn. Great coffee, well priced food and really helpful staff who weren't fazed by my young children. It looks like they are setting up a kids area with child-sized picnic tables outside. Great decor and atmosphere - this is going to be my second home.

A newly opened cafe here in Manukau and boy am I impressed! Plenty of parking and the restaurant itself is very spacious, beautifully modern and clean. I really like the use of wooden furniture and herbs grown around the outside for kitchen use! So cute! And hippie haha. <br/><br/> The menu itself looked really good! We settle for the calamari salad and salmon stack along with a banana milkshake with and espresso shot. <br/><br/> I really enjoyed the food, the presentation is on point and the food itself was really well done 😍 the calamari salad is definitely on the smaller side so if you're really hungry try something else on the menu and save the salad as a snack. My smoko was really good!!!! Banana and coffee combination is a winning one! The salmon stack was good, I wished there was more salmon, I was expecting a slice of salmon over what I really got which is mash mixed in with salmon. It was still good though, can taste the salmon! <br/><br/> Staff members were friendly and helpful. I'd highly recommend and be back for more!! Glad South is getting some nice eateries. 😍

My partner and I had a late breakfast we were greated by a smiling young staff member in which you do not see a lot these days. Once we were seated menu and water was supplied moments later a latte and a flat white arrived.great price and great coffee😊<br/>Our personal waitress was also very pleasnt and thorough. We both feel we got 5 star servise with an exellent meal plus high quality coffee. I will recommend this cafe to family and friends also we will both be back

Manukau's new brunch joint. It's beautiful, stands out and brings a new energy to the town. I'm in love. If you can get past the lines and waiting times its definitely worth trying. The service is fast and for the most part very good. Great environment and relatively family friendly. The meals are presented with a high level of detail shown from the kitchen and the food is of an extremely high quality. Each dish is clearly well taken care of. They have plenty of health food options as well as some naughty stuff - it's a place anyone would be able to enjoy 🙌🏻🎉

Been here just this morning with hubby after night shift and I must say, the place was exquisite for a coffee shop. It is very spacious with an outdoor table that would be perfect for summer and a tiny kids spot complete with artificial grass and tiny picnic table...very suitable if you're having coffee sessions with your friends who have kids. The place has a "homey" feel to it that would entice customers to come back again. The food taste great although it is nothing but ordinary cafe food. My husband had the eggs benedict with bacon whereas I had the creamy mixed mushroom...nothing to fault with the food and although it is common european breakfast, it was cooked to perfection. Poached eggs were cooked to our liking, still very runny inside 😊. Now, coffee-wise, I would give it a rating of 5... superb! Will I recommend it to friends? Yes! But I would give them a heads up about their menu 😊😁
David Parussini
Have visited a couple of times, once for a quick flat white and the other for an iced coffee and snack..the 4.5 is for the flat white which was bang on flavour and temperature wise, haven't yet tried anything on the menu but does look on the pricier side...great aesthetic, high ceilings with lots of natural light, easy parking, a bit of a draw card for the punters I expect. Must make a point of the friendly service from the pleasant blonde lady running the floor on both occasions of visiting, a definite asset for this cafe.
Romina Kolesnik
I've come here twice and both times it's been ok. I was here for the second time today during lunch and we were seated quite quickly however our seat was sort of hidden so it was hard for the staff to see us unless they were serving the tables around us. We weren't given any menus when we were seated. We waited 10 minutes before asking for our menus, we waited another 10 minutes and no one took our order so we went up to the counter ourselves. Food was alright the portions was good. If I were to go next time I would probably go at a time when it's not busy.

This by far is a must try cafe around the Manukau area. Excellent layout and quick and efficient staff. The milkshakes were excellent and the eggs Benedict was an excellent breakfast choice. I found it quite unusual thou that the food arrived before the drinks so perhaps that is an area of improvement.

Manukau has long needed a new cafe like Melba, with Urban Soul being the only similar style cafe. The interior is really airy and spacious with pretty hanging lights not unlike the ones you'll find in the central CBD area. People will find the prices rather expensive for Manukau.<br/><br/>The menu was exciting with a great range with all the classics but with a few surprises as to make it stand out from the usual you'd get from the 1000 cafes in Auckland. I ordered the Crispy Squid ($18.50) which was SO GOOD, perfect amount for a light but substantial meal and prettily presented. The pomegranate jus was really something new and complemented the squid beautifully.<br/><br/>My dining companion ordered the Melba Grill ($21.50) which came with two pieces of toast and two eggs (the fried one came separately and later, hence not being in the photo) etc. The hashbrown is certainly different to your usual one but this one tastes so much better because of how it's shaped, you get more fluffy potato on the inside whilst retaining that crunchy exterior. He also really enjoyed his Flat White which came with a nice latte art and we were informed the coffee beans are Five Elements Espresso.<br/><br/>Both meals were filling despite the fact it looks smaller than it actually is in the photo, my partner was full afterward (and he's got a big apetite!) and I'm already eager to return. I think it's my new favourite cafe especially since it's so close to where I live. <br/><br/>I feel the customer service could do with some work though, although the staff were super friendly, we were not checked up on throughout the duration of our meal for ordering our food/ drinks, and for water glasses to be refilled so we had to go up to the counter to ask.
Laleet Narayan
This was our 5th visit in two weeks! The food didn't disappoint on any ocassions but the customer service needs some serious work. Big boy dumped our menus on the table and walked off without saying a word...when I stopped him and said good morning. Service and food together makes a place great guys!!
Ashlee
Finally a brand new eatery in Manukau! The menu has great options (you definitely have to try the Nutella shake) although it can get a little pricey depending on what you're ordering. Staff were very knowledgable and I cannot fault the customer service! Great place.

What an awesome discovery this was! I have been to many of the cafes from the Cafe Melba group but noticed today this new addition in Manukau. There is a shortage of these types of cafes in the area - really only Urban Soul is in the same league.<br/>Cafe Melba are renowned for their clean & tidy cafes, great service & fresh tasty food - this is no exception.<br/>Being a newly built cafe, the environment is full of fresh clean lines. Seating inside has a fireplace which will be fantastic in Winter. Today we sat outside which is in a covered area but with the ability to open it up.<br/>I chose the beef salad which was delicious. Beef perfectly cooked & with tasty Asian flavours. Served with a mint & vermicelli salad, & pickled vegetables.<br/>My friend chose the breakfast salad which she also really enjoyed. Big chunks of avocado & bacon - unlike some cafes that serve this with minute bits that take away the look & texture of the salad. The egg was perfectly soft poached. <br/>I had a corona with my lunch & my friend chose a Karma Cola - they also have a good range of juices. <br/>We had no room after but they did have a great range of cabinet food including cakes from the bread & butter bakery.<br/>Staff were friendly & engaging as expected - even when paying at the register which can be hit & miss in some cafes. <br/>Looking forward to my next visit!

I was excited to try out a new cafe called Melba in Manukau. I came with my wife and son for Sunday brunch, the cafe was not too busy for 11am and it look great inside. The male island staff greeted us he was lovely and got my son a baby chair, i ordered the big grilled and wife had the salmon hash with 2 coffee. We sat next 2 older ladies who started chating to us they have been waiting closed too 25mins for their meals. I said we will give them a chance as it was only their second week of opening to the ladies they said the same thing to me. We waited closed to half an hour for our meals and the cafe had about 15 people not all are ordering meals. I was hungry my big grilled came out and it looked small for $21.50. It had scramble eggs which was awesome, 2 very dry mushroom, the smallest roasted tomato might as well been a cherry tomato, 1 rugby shape hash brown,2 piece of streaky bacon on a big grill get real guys really, toasts and a floury flavourless sausage to top it off. My wife salmon was not much better she loves salmon was lefted dissapointed as i was and hungry. The plus side coffee was ok and friendly asian girl i think was in charge was lovely and friendly. Melba is a new player in Manukau it has to pick up its game alot. All and all we wont be coming back as their other good cafes around in the area.
