Review Woodside Bar, Kitchen, Functions - Manukau

It was our first time at woodside, we used the first table app to book our dinner which was 4:30. At that time it wasn't that busy which was nice. We ordered 2 cocktails and our meal. Our service was great and hardly any wait time for our dinner. The taro and coconut cream was nice especially with the prawn toast and chicken wings. We skipped dessert and finished with a caramel espresso martini. Perfect finish to a lovely meal.

Just home from an awesome night with my parents . First time in this location, and it won't be the last. Food was excellent and the surroundings made my family feel welcome. Actually this place may be new but carries a lot of history. So find out for yourselves :-)

A spectacular ambience with a flare of Pasifika flava...with music and food. Live music and great quick services. My Seafood chowder and pudding was spectacular!

My family and I booked a table for 5 and in the end added more. Woodside was very accomodating and we had to move areas but were very grateful. A lot of the table ordered the seafood chowder. It was fresh and all but coming from a very island/Māori family would have done it better (4/5). I had a steak and love it as dear as you can get and was very happy with it because most of the time restaurants over cook my steak but the chef did mine perfectly (5/5). The only photos I got were of our deserts and they were ok. It’s obvious that the chef is either islander or Samoan cause we got panikeke and vaisalo(faipula) can’t remember the actual word. But these were average in taste. I have been to Samoa and lived there for a little while and I can tell you a 2tala version of this is 99% better than the version on offer here. I understand it was a fancier version but it just didn’t do it for me. I love the idea but the execution needs more work. The menu is not really catered to kids so I wouldn’t recommend taking kids here if your kids are simple like mind was. Overall I would come here again but will go somewhere else for desert. Loved the live entertainment he was an awesome singer as well. Thank you for your customer service which was 5/5.

Walk in. Great friendly service, lovely atmosphere, value for dinner for 2, and the food was delicious... I definitely recommend it and will go back again.

Had a wonderful Mother's day lunch. I tried to book a table online today Morning - was not successful as it was fully booked for the day. We walked in at 2pm directly to the restaurant. MARAEA the best staff was very kind enough to offer us a table. We had a sumptuous lunch, good portion and fabulously cooked meal. Maraea also threw a free Mothers day Chocolate Brownie. Good service, clean and spacious resturant and great ambiance. Would recommend to my friends. The only remark I have was we didn't receive the special 20% off on Salmon dish which was promised at the time of taking order and was not automatically incorporated in the final bill, i didn't ask for it before billing, realised only after paying the full amount. Priscila the manager said she can't authorize credit the after the bill has been processed.

Had drinks n food there at Happy hour. Shared big platters of chicken, spare ribs, savouries etc. Very filling. Very friendly, attentive, welcoming staff and Manager! Will go back there again! Thankyou Woodside Bar!

I had a Woodside burger nice home made patties but I want to see they put more fries on the plates look a bit less for the price. my friend had a fish and chip and was dry and oily. Sirloin steak nice big portion and tender but fries a bit less. the waiter need approach customer more and see how is going on. Restaurant clean and tidy good for big gathering. suggestion that reaper sauce waay too hot as I like spicy food could change into aeoli or tabasco. I give 4 star👏👏👏👏 good job woodside.

I tried out Woodside in Manukau due to positive feedback from my sister. Upon arrival, the restaurant looked very impressive and we were warmly greeted and seated promptly. The ambiance was warm and inviting and I appreciated seeing large family groups of diverse backgrounds scattered around the restaurant. We ordered salads with kumara fries with the apple crumble for dessert. I was impressed by how efficient the service was with food order and delivery, and it was particularly impressive how readily our beverages refreshed. I enjoyed dinner the dessert was amazing, as well as my soy latte. This is a great location for groups or casual catch ups for drinks or a meal in Manukau because the gastrobar menu is vast and likely to suit all palates.

We were looking for some place opened beyond 8pm on a Sunday evening in the Manukau / Flat bush area and came across this spot. Nice place, not too busy, friendly staff. Food was good. We ordered the lamb pizza and the sesame salad. Caved and had dessert which was well well worth it. Very reasonably priced .

Awesome service, great music, clean warm atmosphere. We came just for drinks this time but will be back for dinner soon! The staff are an asset to this place, very welcoming.

Food tasted amazing. I ordered the ribs and the meat just falls right off. So tender and flavorful. The chips had a nice crunch despite being the bed for the ribs. Salad was delicious, too. Place was clean and spacious.

Food was good, ambience was warm and inviting & really loved the poly fusion menu items. My fried chicken burger was tasty & the Sua fai'i pannacotta was a nice change from the usual desert choices found at other places. Lots of parking, and attentive staff.

Ribs are always sooo good here! The rewana bread that came with the wha a spin of the Vietnamese dish was yummmm was too full to have the dumplings probably always best to have the dumplings while they're hot!

We live in Waiuku popped in a for a drink very friendly staff and nice atmosphere.Lady at the table next to us suggested we try the lamb it was melt in your mouth very tasty and nicely presented have been back twice now highly recommended

Unfortunately for $19 I received a tiny handful of chips & barely defrosted prawns on a stale bun served with frozen ‘guacamole’ that was worse quality than subway. I questioned my meal and was assured that is how it is served but I have had cold prawn dishes before & this was definitely not right, I believe just laziness & not wanting to make the dish again. Won’t be returning

Food took 5ever to come out to us even though we pre-ordered. I had the pasta and it was extremely watery and had no taste. Prawns and fish in the pasta were extremely dry. My sister had the lamb and it ws close to raw. Will not be returning. Horrible experience.

I had the steak meal... It was good but I wish the potions were bigger for the price... The mashed potato was soooo good though... But should of had more then 2 mushrooms parts... I was very impressed with how fast our meals came out despite being busy and the service was very good... Very reasonable for 8 meals, 2 wines and 3 soft drinks costing $183...

Came here with my mother, food was lovely and recommend this place to many people as I absolutely loved the staff and food! After coming here with my partner who is 18yrs old. At 2pm I decided to go with my sister which is 18yrs of age. we got offered water by a lovely staff member. 5 min later I got rudely asked to leave by a older staff member as I was not 18yr old. And I was not aloud to purchase FOOD let alone sit with my 18 yr old sister?! I have been here many times and had no issue in ordering lunch. I thought it was kid friendly? a 16yr old apparently cannot sit in the restraunt with their 18 yr old SISTER! strict Procedures and policy’s need to be better and put in place if this is the case ALSO there is no sign that says minors can not order FOOD? I have been to Woodside multiple times and I was never asked to show ID before ordering FOOD.

Ordered food and waited for an hour. No updates and have asked two waitresses for a follow up. Only then did we have one of the staff tell us that there was a problem. We were reassured after that by being given complimentary services due to inconvenience. Service is good, food is good, however the waiting time was long. We ended up waiting for an hour and a half in total to get our food.

Ran out of tiger beer on a Sunday even though it was a quiet day. The service was a little slow and they only had a few tables with a few staff on. The starters were good but their main menu (lunch and dinner) are quite small. And are repeated thoughout.

More than the food, I love their customer service, as it makes you want to order more. Thank you lovely ladies! Had a great time with family and friends - nice ambience, good food and chill music!😀

We enjoyed our dinner tonight ! Great place to dine in !!A nice chilled space , amazing service delivered from the workers . Also , we ordered the lamb shank and baby back ribs for dinner and I kid you not the bloody meat feel off the bone nicely , tender and full of flavour. Highly recommend this place . So happy to say this would be my number one place for Baby back Ribbs ! 10000/100

The food was average until I found a grasshopper in my salad, when I made the staff aware they said ‘oh, that’s how fresh our salads are’ absolutely revolting. Would never go back.

Service was good, bit odd they served my pals cc and dry in a tall glass but I told him not to whinge about it. Got the gnocchi, it was really quite bad unfortunately, the pieces were ridiculously large for gnocchi which is probably party to why they were so undercooked. Also my friend booked the table a week in advance and when we got there our reservation was missing.

The sauce that comes with the steak is absolutely unbelievable 😋 it’s so so so good! The beef burger is also amazing 👌🏼 definitely recommend

Really nice outlet. Sort of and upgraded, updated version of broncos up the road. <br/>Nice indoor and out door areas with a decent patch of grass and a lil stage outside for entertainment. <br/>Even tho the food is a lil on the steep side for the amount of food you receive, the food is still delicious and cooked really well. <br/>The usual bar type of foods Pizzas, wings, loaded fries, calamari and ribs are all delicious.<br/>Also have a good selection of beers on tap to wash down all the delicious foods.

First time being at Woodside last night! Enjoyed the food, very nice! I would say service is a bit slow, water wasn’t brought to our table for about 10 minutes and no one approached us until we called someone over to take our order. Our meals weren’t checked on although everything was fine it’s nice to be asked. The food portions are a little small but again, delicious! I would say we’ll be back

This place is great for catching up with friends. Food is great and cooked to expectation. Well seasoned and full of flavour. The service was prompt, fast and friendly. Great music and clean bathrooms. Reasonably priced. Loved the cocktail, didn’t need dessert after. Perfect for those with a sweet tooth.

We've been here a couple of times upon my partner's recommendation. He had a company lunch and told me that I would love the place.<br/><br/>And I did! I always order the jalapeno poppers which really has the omph factor.<br/><br/>Coffee and food have been consistently good. I personally love the chicken wings which is on the bar menu.<br/><br/>They have live music on Sundays from 3 pm too. Woodside generally gives off a nice chillax vibe.<br/><br/>The only reason I'm not giving a 5 is because of 1 or 2 staff who appeared rather rude and hostile when taking our orders. Other than that, definitely recommend this place and we'll keep coming back!<br/><br/>Food has always been consistent

We had lunch here the food is amazing 5/5 the ambience 5/5 Nice and clean! I recommend the pork ribs! salmon size for lunch meal is qwite small just a heads up, but it’s delicious! meals r pricey but worth it.. also had a cocktail forgot what it was called 5/5 definitely coming back here again

Came here alone with my 1 year old son, I’m not sure if it was because it was a Saturday night but some of the patrons were kind of rowdy. I didn’t realise this place was a pub & a restaurant. The staff were friendly & the children’s meals were HUGE! My son had the bangers & mash, it was yummy, I tried it. I had the market fish which was delicious & a glass of pinot noir 💗 My only complaint would be it was very hot, maybe it was just where I was sat but I could not feel any a/c or breeze from outdoors. It was HOT! I was sweating off my makeup! Alas, the food was yummy & staff friendly, prices reasonable. Will def be back again, possibly during the week when it’s more quiet :)

Excellent service. Loved my long Island ice tea, however did not really enjoy the chipotle. Loved the wedges. Great ambiance outdoors. Needs more chairs for the bigger crowds.

Went for a birthday dinner. Horrible experience. They forgot the birthday girls order !!! Ordered the chicken and beef burger which were both dry. The lamb is ridiculous as it has only 2 pieces and yet is so expensive. Only thing saving this place is the waiter, peter. He was so friendly and helpful

Situated in the heart of Manukau across the way to the Westfield Mall and the infamous Krispy Kreme donuts is a new Family Bar Restraunt caked Woodside big bold lettering sits on the top of the roof edge enticing you to take a sneak peek what lies beyond this building😀<br/>There’s ample parking and one doorway which is away to the side that leads you into a fresh clean open space venue which is a wonderful surprise as your led to believe by the exterior could be a fizzer a let down lol <br/><br/>It’s concrete polished floors and upbeat industrial interior is really cool <br/>Me like lots... it’s not cluttered it’s not busy.. it’s fitted out nicely... room to glide around the tables to the bar and even out to the court yard which has a nice entertaining area for those summer days to dine outside 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼<br/><br/>The Staff are clean fresh looking dressed casually but very professional they are very attentive and are excited to serve and accommodate you for your dining experience or for a relaxed drink with your friends or family they make you feel at ease <br/><br/>The service is great our food orders were taken in a timely manner they had great recommendations and knew there products well <br/><br/>Food portions presentation excellent <br/>Food we ordered OMG delicious we were happy hippos 😇😊<br/><br/>Affordable afternoon night for the 3of us we had starters mains drinks that came to a total of $128<br/>We were happy delighted <br/><br/>Definitely be back again <br/>Great place for our local Manukau residents <br/><br/>5/5

I had seen this place a few times when I was heading to krispy kreme for my sweet tooth fix. I always thought "hey I should go there and try it some time". My partner and I were driving around looking for a place for lunch and decided we would go here.<br/>First impressions, the place is quite nice as it's rather new and the outside area is a pretty decent size, fenced too (which would be good for kids) and there was decent space between all the tables.<br/>My partner and I order burgers, one chicken and one beef. NOTE their menu has been updated and some items have been removed such as the pork belly burger.<br/>The food was a decent size for lunch. My chicken burger was pretty good, the bun was soft on the inside but had a nice crunch (crispiness?) to the outside. The chicken itself was nice as it wasn't to greasy and overpowering. The chips were nothing amazing but nothing to be concerned about. The beef burger (no picture because my partner ate it straight away!) was good, again the size was decent, chips were okay. The only comments my partner made was that he really liked the bacon and that the beef patty itself was a tad overcooked for his liking.<br/>Overall the place is good for the south auckland area, it would be a sweet setup for after work drinks or a catch up with mates during the weekend. I would like to come back and try the dinner options out!

Apparently, they only served a very limited brunch menu between 10 to 4 on weekends.<br/><br/>We sat outdoors so our son could wander around. It was a sunny day, so he enjoyed basking under the heat and fiddling with the chairs and other props.<br/><br/>I ordered their grilled chicken taco with spicy mashed avocado, while wife had fish and chips. My son, always more interested in other activities apart from eating, settled for a fried sausage and a bit of chips from our plate.<br/><br/>I was disappointed from the first bite as I felt some water dripping onto my hands from my taco. It came from their boiled iceberg lettuce, which obviously was not drained properly. It was also quite bland. Grilled chicken could improve if they added more flavour in it.<br/><br/>As for my wife's fish, it was okay. The dipping sauce saved the otherwise ordinary dish. Fortunately the fish portion was big so I could get a piece of it for myself. The sausage, meanwhile, had a herby taste in it which my son did not agree with.<br/><br/>Despite the letdown in food, our experience was good overall due to an amazing service and fantastic ambiance. We might go back for dinner to check out their full menu.

Good food, a little bit salty for my wife, my 3 years old boy like the kid's meal and my mum like the slot machines. The story of the histories of South Auckland on the wall is interesting. Enjoyable after all will visit again.

Pretty disappointing, they messed up my reservation for 2. Then grabbed a small table and tried to plonk us in between 2 big Xmas parties. Lucky Melba is 2 skips away, we ended up there. They were apologetic tho.

New Manuaku place, modern interior. Service was perfect ! However be mindful of when sitting in front of the door, they located us there and was disturbed by the smokers that had returned back inside. We were starving hence the half eaten meal, do not let that fool you! It was very bland and I put tomato sauce on it to make it more flavourism. My husband ordered the Beef burger and paid $22 which was also without flavor! We are big burger fans so this was extremely sad to find that the only thing we enjoyed was the team and the water! Please relook at your menu and flavor combinations.

Visited Saturday 12.45pm - still serving brunch menu but could order off snack menu - ordered loaded wedges margarita pizza and chicken tacos - food was tasteless - pizza had spinach, no basil or fresh tomato or parmesan - not seasoned, taco chicken dry and overcooked - no spice and not seasoned - loaded wedges average. Was a real shame as restaurant/bar had a very cool ambience and if they got the food right it would be fabulous

I went there Sunday morning with my family for brunch. The place looked great and a friendly staff greeted us, we sat outside so the kids could run around while we waited for our meals. I ordered the waffle with fry pork and the other 2 adults had warm salmon dish. My dish look liked the chef was trying to hard with plating and forgot to cooked the food properly. Paper thin waffle dry and was broken up into small piece to play with plating. Pork was cut into small chip sized and fry to the point of been super dry and hard. The salmon was tasty but the whole meal was so small.<br/>The 1 star was for the lovely girl that looked after us. The chef and kitchen staff needs to learn how to cook food properly and understand it about taste, flavour, portion size and making customer happy and not walking away hungry and disappointed.

Had lunch here, had the steak and rocket sandwich Yummy! Partner had the chicken and bacon burger said it was really good. Chips were beautiful also, service was awesome! Nice modern open space, bathroom nice and clean.

A couple of drinks and a nibble with my partner, the whole thing cost us around $60. The staff were so professional and really friendly. Keep up the good work. <br/><br/>The platter: good combination of items, generous serving of blue cheese, which needed a thicker bread or cracker than the crispy pita. I also really wanted more of the Smokey chorizo which was amazing. Chicken was an odd (but welcomed) addition to platter. I was expecting chicken wings for some reason but it’s more schnitzel. Pickles, peppers, hummus and balsamic evoo with side garden salad were a great addition. Yellow dip- no good! <br/>And.. the...Perfect hot chips.

It was an awesome experience for my husband and i, we decided to check out this new joint in Manukau, support locally and we really enjoyed the atmosphere and our time here. The best part was the singing trio. If you want to go somewhere on Sunday for a nice dinner and music this is the best place to be. <br/><br/>We ordered some entree, and we thoroughly enjoyed this, garlic bread and wings. Spicy Sauce for the wings great, garlic bread was ok. <br/><br/>We loved the mains. We needed more for my husband cause he eats a lot. So we ordered extra sides. <br/><br/>Absolutely loved the dessert, I have a sweet tooth too, the bounty was amazing! The desert fizzles in your mouth, the mousse and ice cream Devine! Absolutely loved it. <br/><br/>Will definitely go back, even if it’s just for drinks and music. Love it.

I had the sirloin steak which was very small a bucket of fries onion rings and a little jug of gravy no salads or greens price $30+ not worth for what you pay for so won't. Ordering any steak at all next time..good customer service

We really enjoyed our evening, the live music is great but slightly too loud to allow for conversation. Food was of a good quality and portions. Kids meals were awesome, complete with dessert. Good, solid family time!

Had dinner here the other night and it was really good. Food was delicious and I wish I had more. There was a band playing whilst we were there and the music was really good too. The music gave it a high uplifting atmosphere through out the night.

This new establishment in Manukau are trying really hard to please customers and build clientele and they will get better. I like that the vibe is different. We were greeted by lots of friendly staff, the new decor is trendy but could do with landscaping the outdoor area. On this particular night the ambiance was ruined by the one man band singer, he was talented but the acoustics in the room made him sound screechy and it was too loud. We had the market fish, lamb rump and coconut panacota for dessert. The fish was overcooked, not fresh however the salad was delicious. Lamb was perfect however small portions and you need to order sides for this. Panacota was delicious, unfortunately it must have sat somewhere for a while as the mousse was a tad melted and again serving size was too small for the price paid. We've been looking forward to supporting this new local eatery so were excited about our booking tonight. <br/><br/>The restaurant was busy but not full. It was one hour 40 minutes since our arrival before our mains arrived.<br/><br/>I ordered the lamb rump. When I ordered it I asked if I needed a side of vegetables also - and was assured it would be enough as it was. My meal was delivered and it was literally an entree size. When the waitress came back to check how the meals were - I told her I was disappointed with two tiny pieces of lamb on the plate. My meal was really tasty, just tiny and delivered pretty cold. The market fish was supposed to be snapper - however, we don't think it was. It was huge,  overcooked, flavourless and hard. The accompanying creamed savoy cabbage however, was delicious. The steak meals were fine. The gnocchi pieces were very large and not completely cooked through - as they were gooey in the mouth. The highlight was the kids' meals that were delivered in great 'bento box' type dishes with pudding included! We all 'helped' the kids eat their meals as we were so hungry waiting for our mains. <br/><br/>I asked to speak to the manager. What was potentially a disastrous evening - was saved somewhat by the way the manager dealt with the many issues at our table. He admitted there had been problems with the way our table had been looked after and he agreed the meals were not up to scratch. He admitted there were still things for the restaurant staff to learn. I appreciated his honest feedback.<br/><br/>I will give this new restaurant some more time to get over these teething problems - and we will try again in a few months. We are locals who eat out often, and we look forward to there being another great restaurant option in Manukau. Unfortunately tonight was bad and it needs to improve dramatically for it to even be average.

Great new addition to Manukau and i can see great potential here. Staff are great and friendly. Food has been okay but not great. Ribs were bland. Chicken burger was bland. Steak was ordered medium and came rare as I saw blue areas. Chicken wings were great and crispy. Chips are ave. Need some chicken salt and work to be done on the aioli. Onion Pakora was almost good but a couple were burnt. Live bands on Friday and Saturday nights is great and the outdoor area is large and spacious. Looking forward to me next visit and intend to make Woodside my new local. Cheers
