Went for dinner today first time here working at Fisher & Paykel a lot of our colleagues have dined here in the past and recommended it walked through the front door and it was a warm cozy ambience the decor was classic as if you stepped into someone’s house for dinner it was pretty full on when we walked in today around 5pm we had booked a table for 4 and were seated by the window Range of different meals from steak to pork pasta and chicken my 2 of my colleagues were vegetarian and they noticed there was not many vegetarian options for them to choose from I had the battered fish and chips today which was average quantity was good and the tartare sauce they served with it I found quite different but was ok the lady who served us today was very nice great customer service

The restaurant that we often go to. Fillet Mignon is the best. The staff are kind and nice.

Great customer service. Upon arrival, was greeted by two wonderful waitresses. Ordered a long island iced tea with corona (👀 as we do) lol while waiting for my family. Delicious scallops ND tasty garlic bread for entree. For main ordered the Angus Scotch fillet and char-grilled lamb rump. Wonderful atmosphere. Definitely recommend medium rare 😍😘.

Excellent place for the a quick meeting with delicious food. The place is situated in the middle of busy industrial area of Auckland and, provide superb service. Staff is friendly. Really looking forward to visit the place soon. Must try the Garlic Bread.

Been here for both lunch and dinner menus, both are excellent with lots to choose from. Food is tasty and the premises great, well maintained and lovely warm atmosphere. Lots of parking. They also do high tea, I didn't get any photos but it was also really good with our own private room for our group to enjoy.

Beautiful place to have a quiet and intimate dinner with family and friends. Place is just near by. Great food! Fantastic flavours! Beautiful presentation! Awesome service!

Excellent brunch, everything was tasty. I had the elderflower tea which was lovely and full-bodied from the start.

We were quite happy with our order: chicken liver parfait and grilled fish (snapper) and chips. The restaurant has the vibe of a country house and the staff is really nice.

Honestly an amazing place with great service and amazing food, history filled and literal hidden gem as it's located in a business district and doesn't get the attention it deserves in such a location... non the less we'll most definitely be back.

I wanted to throw my mother in law a surprise birthday high tea because lockdown made her miss out on celebrating her 70th birthday last year. I contacted Fisher House and made the booking end let them know it was for a surprise birthday. The manager Piyush told me he would give us a private room for free if one was available on the day to help with the surprise. On the day we had a private room and the service was above and beyond. The staff if so friendly and helpful. They catered for the dietary requirements I told them about. The food was delicious and well presented. The lovely manager kept checking on us to see if we needed anything and if everything was ok. He later brought a complementary slice of cheesecake to my mother in law and sand happy birthday with us. That was really nice of them and I was so thrilled to see how my mother in law was having the best of time. Everyone enjoyed their meal and had a blast. I can’t thank Fisher House manager and the staff enough for making it a very special day for my mother in law. I can’t recommend this place enough!!!

A nice building with historical events pictured in a book on the table and hung on walls for you to see. Food was decent, a bit on the pricier side compared to other steak houses. Overall a nice experience with a lively atmosphere.

First time in Fisher House and loved the environment, food and atmosphere. We dined in and ordered salt & pepper squid and meat lovers pizza. Excellent service, and food was great as well. We'll be back.

We had a friends wedding dinner in one of the rooms here. It was really good that there was plenty of parking. The place was nicely decorated with lots of horses on the wall. Most of the food was served in a timely manner and it was generally tasty. The pasta serving my friend got was actually quite large. It was a nice venue for an event and the food was decent. I'm not sure of the costing though.

Went for a business event so there were quiet a few people in the group. I didn't order food till after the meeting, we were informed that the kitchen would close in 5 minutes, my order and several other people's orders were completed in a polite and professional manner, it was refreshing to not be told it's too late to order. Thank you to the staff in the front of the house and in the kitchen. The food was tasty and plated well. The atmosphere was friendly and warm. I would have taken photos of the food but it didn't last long, an enjoyable experience.

Been here a couple of times and the food and service are both exceptional! Veal, fillet minion are great. Kids love the kids drinks.
Andy Yoo
Snapper was over salted, tasted like i dropped a salt bottle in my mouth. She renewed the meal with chicken breast was tasteless . worse experience every would never would recommend no one to get crispy snapper and chicken breast.
Angelafrances37
Always a pleasant experience coming here with wonderful service. Food is well priced & tasty. Would come back all the time
Rebecca
Came here for a late lunch and the food was amazing! We had the Angus scotch and fish of the day and we both loved them! Probably one of the best steak dishes I have had. Will definitely be back soon!!

Came in for hoping for a nice dinner but was honestly disappointed with both the meal and the service. Wasn't greeted by any staff members for ages till I finally managed to maketeye contact with someone behind the bar. Ordered the Angus Scotch Fillet, no complaints about the presentation, was super excited till I uncovered the steak. It was definitely a charred steak, the outside was hard to cut through and bitter. The sauce was too sour and the potatoes were too dry and bland. The crispy skin snapper was not much better, underwhelming with simple flavours. The kumara chips were fine, tasted like the ones from a supermarket.<br/><br/>Will not be coming back in the future, not quite worth the price even with zomato gold.
Daniel Chen
Honestly, the food tasted really bad for the price. Second time I’ve been here now, and the first time I thought maybe the kitchen was just off their game that day, but now after coming a second time, I realised that the food was just honestly not good. I ordered the snapper, which came as a stew-like dish. The potatoes were basically just boiled, and the whole dish was extremely underseasoned. If it wasn’t for the zomato gold, I wouldn’t even have bothered giving this place a second chance.

Took my dad to breakfast after dropping our dog to daycare. When we arrived we weren't greeter by anyone which was fine assuming everyone was busy. We sat down at a table waited to be served no one came so I went to grab menus.... waited to be served again but no one came so I went to the front counter and ordered our food. Got our food & some things were missing off our plate so asked one of the workers if he could fetch the missing items. The whole time we were there no one asked if we were ok, if the food was alright just general service you would receive at other eateries. Was a little annoyed as the ladies next to us got 10/10 service throughout the whole time they were there. It doesnt take much to make people feel welcomed... anyways, the food was good but we were put off by the service.
Shoulyn Singh
The food was very average. We got the Margherita pizza $17.50 which looked like a (tiny) $5 oven pizza. The base was a frozen base which was very small, no flavour except for big chunks of tomato all over it. We also got the 3 sliders $15 (pork, lamb and fish) the flavour was nice yet VERY SMALL. Portions were way off for prices. Lovely ambience and staff are also welcoming. We came in between lunch and dinner, maybe we just missed the chefs? Regardless, I feel the prices should be altered for these particular items.
KIM
Was so underwhelmed with our lunch here. The burgers were super dry and had no taste to them. Mum ordered the Sunday roast which was ‘ok’ the Veges were the saving point as everything else lacked any sense of flavor and there was no crackling as mentioned on the menu that was served with it. Wouldn’t be back there unfortunately.

Such a beautiful setting with a huge garden. Dog friendly. A beautiful place to host events. We used Zomato Gold. You can get a discounted membership with this code LITTLETD. Get a free main with another ordered. We only paid for the fish and chips and got the burger free. Food was pleasant but nothing out of ordinary. We just love the ambience and such friendly staff in the midst of being super busy. Highly recommended place for families and big (or small) group. Dog lovers will love this place.

Came here for dinner and was really disappointed. When we entered the restaurant the place had a stench of vomit or wet dog. But we were excited for the duck fat wedges and ordered surf and turf and another steak. The wedges are huge, like a quarter of a potato, skin was crispy and tasted undercooked (due to its size). My entire steak was charcoaled burnt. In hindsight I should've told them on the spot but assumed this was their special way of making it and for their expensive price! Would definitely not come back nor recommend. Friend recently had high tea here and food was below par.

Went for brekky, the place was super quiet. Just us and 3 other pairs there. The place is beautiful and views were nice. Very big area to have birthdays and weddings. We both had the big breakfast meal. It wasnt the best breakfast meals ive had but it wasnt bad as well. Its nice quiet area if you just want to hang with yr mate and talk all day. The hot chocolate was nice as well. Zomato Gold was used. :)

Such a nice place to go for dinner. The atmosphere is cool in a historic house being seated in one of the dining rooms which was nice as it didn’t feel noisy/busy like most restaurants. The menu had a lot of options making it hard to choose from as they all looked so good. I went with the grilled fish and chips followed by the sticky date pudding. Both were delicious with decent portion sizes. The staff were very friendly and the food came out very quickly. Will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu.

Was here two weeks ago. Food was okay, but had to wait over an hour for it to arrive. Only upside was that the waiter was lovely.
Richard Atienza
Staffs are friendly. Service is good. Food is great.
John Kim
Pretty disappointing. We waited for over half an hour to be served (even this, no one came to our table so we approached). Atmosphere and the place seemed nice but food was again disappointing. Apart from the lamb shank, all other meals were poor in quality. Especially the beef patty in bugger was so chewy.
Kaycee Reid
Good service and food will go back

The service was not up to standard nor was the food sadly! My boyfriend ordered a lamb burger and it was very dry and the chips weren’t properly cooked! My carbonara looked amazing when it was served, but ended up being very watery. Had high expectations because of the beautiful venue
Li Joanna
Been here few times, Friendly staffs, Main portions are big, a nice place and quite place for dinner, a bar lounge, outdoor area,Kids friendly
Tony Wong
Great staff and service but mediocre food, partner and I both ordered the crispy skin snapper but ended up returning both as it was just bad, extremely salty fish and way over cooked.
Philip Huynh
Jade did a wonderful job of making us feel welcome and the food was amazing - we had the high tea and it was perfect. Will definitely come back. 5 stars!
Frimz.r
Overall the experience was good. My husband ordered the philly cheese steak sandwich and the meat was really chewy and the choice of bread for the sandwich was not good, it was hard and a lot of bread compared to the filling. I ordered Angus beef filet, which was very good as I have asked for medium rare , but the didn’t understand why there were 5 roasted potatoes, 2 -3 max would have sufficed.
Darren Big Belly
Disappointed. Ordered the Scotch and duck fat wedges.<br/>Are these made from watermelon sized potatoes?? Way too big. I guess it's a good portion?<br/>The Scotch was half medium and half medium rare. The outside was severely crusted with burnt bits. The whole steak was bitter with burnt taste. 0/5.

This place is awesome! Came here for our parents anniversary dinner and the service was amazing! Thanks to the lady that helped us take photos! This place is really unique and I had a nice surprise just entering the place, looked like a setting from one of those mystery - solving games like cleudo lol. All our dishes were great and very filling

Food is good , service is great as usual , very convenient place to have lunch during weekdays<br/>Ample parking space is awesome, will come back again

Came here for the first time. The food was great! I had the sirlion steak and my partner had the mushroom risotto. Abit pricy but overall worth it with the great service, nice ambiance and quality food.
SeaLam
what a bad experience! the food was not very good and they charged a really high price for the food. service could have gone a little faster and we were given a tiny table that had no light ,we could barely read the menu! but the reason why we put 2 stars was because of the presentation of the food and the friendly staff who served us well 🙃
Foodhunta
Been here a few times. Love the environment, very relaxing. Food is good too and friendly staffs. Will definitely go back again. A good place for a young family with kids for a meal.
Deadwin
a nice environment (both inside and outside section) and friendly staff, enjoy their breakfast more than their lunch, been here several times, the steak sandwich I did not enjoy as it was over-char

Fantastic European restaurant/bistro offering an Italian atmosphere and wonderful food. The food was exquisite, the servers friendly and I really enjoyed coming here. Their seafood chowder was one of the finest I’ve had in years.

Good service the team we’re very friendly and accomodating. Food was good venison was my favourite however the pork belly was also pretty good. Also the pavlova is AMAZING!
Tasty Morsel
Absolutely delicious! Fast service and sunny outdoor area. A bit on the pricey side but the food stands up to the cost. Looking forward to coming back!

We waited at the door for a couple of minutes and were brought to a table. Service was excellent and fast! A highchair was brought over for our baby even though he didn't end up sitting in it. We had the fettuccine with creamy carbonara and chicken, salt and pepper squid, popcorn shrimp and steak sandwich. The steak was a little overcooked. Popcorn shrimp was yummy with the sauce. The fettuccine had lots of chicken and mushroom in it and yummy flavour.

Cute restaurant setting, enjoyed the outdoor space for lunch, food was nice and came out fast, great service. I'd like to go back for dinner.
Israa.fahmy
Terrible experience, below average food, got ham in my chicken plate while it wasn't mentioned in the menu. Bad, unprofessional, unfriendly, aggressive, non smiling staff. Since the moment we entered the place the staff were talking in a very very rude way and were forcing us to sit indoors while we specified we want an outdoor sitting in the booking, we felt so unwelcome, we left the restaurant without anyone from the staff saying anything although we were the ONLY customers at this time. The whole experience was very awkward and disapponting. Will never be back again and I don't recommend any one to do so.

#zomatogold# experience was great. <br/><br/>We went there for breakfast. We ordered Eggs Benedict and corn fritters. Eggs Benedict was great. Corn fritters tasted a bit puffy, still nice. <br/><br/>Ambience 4.5/5<br/>Food 4.5/5<br/>Service 4/5<br/><br/>Overall experience was very good. Will be back to try out their lunch or dinner. <br/><br/><br/>

I wasnt too fond of this resturaunt! I found the pork belly quite dry and chewy! Was excited for the pork crackling on top however mine was stale and cold. The newyork cheesecake was also a let down, the taste was there but the consistency of it wasnt as smooth as what a cheesecake should be, also the base tasted really raw!

We had a lovely time having lunch at Fisher House today. We were seated at an outside table with lovely ambiance. The venue is very spacious and has an old school European feel. <br/><br/>We ordered a BLT and a Chicken Caesar wrap, both well presented and served in generous portions. The taste was also fine. <br/><br/>Definitely recommend this place!
Hungry Hippo
Really neat place, that is secluded. The staff were amazing, and very attentive. <br/>I ordered a steak, which was cooked to absolute perfection - melting in the mouth. What was more delightful was the mash! I've never been a fan of mash potatoes but the one they had definitely had me wanting more. Such great flavours which in combination was divine.<br/>My partner ordered the lamb, which was just as good as the steak. Lots of smokey flavours going on- and none of the potent lamb smell. <br/>Great side to try is the duck fries! Very crispy and flavourful! <br/>Must come back!

We tried the Fisher House for breakfast. The ambiance was lovely and we enjoyed a nice outdoor table. The service was great - we arrived right after a large party of 15 and they kindly served our party of two first (without us asking). Their staff seem to definitely know how to handle situations with great hospitality. The eggs Benedict with bacon was lovely and the bacon was cooked to perfection (not the common rubbery mess other cafes serve). I can’t wait to return to try dinner.

Was a satisfactory experience overall where food wasn't bad but just average and the setting was good with a nice open space and plenty of spaces for parking. Staff were incredibly friendly though! <br/><br/>We ordered one of their pasta dishes and though it was tasty, there was too much sauce - it was almost like a soup so unless you like your pasta drenched in sauce, the texture and portion are great! <br/><br/>The burger wasn't bad where the beef was tender and cooked well. The fries were alright as well. <br/><br/>We had the pleasure of dining with Zomato Gold, however, it would not be my first choice to dine here again although I wouldn't rule it out completely. <br/><br/>Food 6/10<br/>Service 7/10<br/>Ambience 6.5/10<br/>Price 6.5/10

Great location, the deco is lovely and spacious area. Tried their fish and chips for lunch and didn’t find the fish to my liking, a bit blend and the batter was quite thick. Probably my preference only as my workmate enjoyed the fish and chips. Another had a wrap which he enjoyed and a Thai salad which looked and tasted quite fresh.

Lovely setting in Highbrook area.Food served in large portions, was hard to finish off the salmon. Desserts are larger portions to, good for sharing.

Was here for a christmas function tonight. We were put in a small room close to the toilet and oh my goodness the room smelled of vomit. That really put us off quiet a lot!! Because it was fully booked we were not able to move to another place. Food-wise, it was average. One of our entrées have not been served and we were charged for it. For main, I ordered salmon with bokchoy and sprouts which to me did not make sense put together. Overall it was an enjoyable evening with good company but it could have been better.<br/><br/>Venue 3/5<br/>Food 3/5<br/>Ambience 3/5<br/>Service 3/5

Had a special dinner with my church and was very pleased with service and food overall... had a 3 course meal starting with the Goat cheese croquettes which melted beautifully in the mouth, with a sweet, tangy beetroot relish that complimented the cheese splendidly.<br/><br/>Had the scotch fillet, which was alright... wouldn't say it was the best steak I've had... the mushroom sauce really didn't wow me and my steak although medium, was still chewy... presented beautifully, but can improve in steak world.<br/><br/>The Nutella mousse ended the night very well with a delicious biscotti that added a nice texture to the mousse which hit that sweet spot so good. Only thing is I WANTED MORE!Top for service from Tori or Victoria? She's a queen! Incentives need to come her way.

Touted by many at my workplace as the best food around, coming in I had high expectations. In terms of the lay out and the traditional architecture of the villa house gives it a unique feeling. I personally love the outdoor patio, it’s an awesome spot for summer.<br/><br/>What did disappointment me and I hope I’m not to visceral about it is that the food was nowhere near the quality I had expected. The simple example being that we were in for brunch and one of my colleagues requested for poached eggs for his eggs on toast and the Fischer House failed on delivering poached eggs twice. Now if this was some place like a Robert Harris or something then yeah, I would understand but Fischer House? They also used frozen vegetables for their muesli with fruit which was severely disappointing. All in all, the brunch meals we had was just rather average, I struggled to see the wow factor or even a high-quality difference between my cafeteria breakfast verses Fischer house. <br/><br/>If Zomato haven’t annoying changed their rating system I would have given them a 2.5 but 3 is rather harsh because their lunch wasn’t too bad. A premier spot? Probably not.<br/><br/>Showstopper: Awesome outdoor patio and their soup of the day with sandwich is great value. <br/><br/>Overall Grade: B-

Great dining experience at Fisher House for my boyfriends Birthday! We got a great deal on this website through booking early and were seated at the best table. The food was incredible! We got the eye fillet steak and the chicken breast 😍 Also the staff were so lovely and overall the atmosphere was great!

Great customer service from the moment we arrived. Small dining area so booking beforehand is a must! Food was so delicious and flavoursome. Everything tasted so fresh.. we ordered the salt and pepper squid, eye steak fillet, fillet mignon, cheesecake and apple crumble for mains and dessert. Can't fault food or service.
Sarah English
Dined on Wednesday night, service well below average. Seemed like we were a hassle and the waitresses were not interested. Meals were decent, although one of the steaks which was ordered rare came out medium which was a shame. Perhaps worth retraining the team on service levels?
Korosha Naidoo
Went for breakfast on a Sunday. Service was ok. Expected better given the venue. Food was good but some of the orders weren't correct but the missing food only came out at the end of the meal... not ideal.
FoodieAsh
Can’t even begin to describe how amazing food is here! The venison was just cooked to perfection and it would the best grilled venison I have ever tasted. Lamb was a delight and could go back for more. Amazing service and staff. Thank you very much!
Mary Tucker
This was a very disappointing evening. Dry bread rolls to start with an average leg of duck for a main with some kind of tasteless, bland salad - thrown on a pile kumera mash. The food was uninspiring, dull and over priced. The waiting staff really need to make an effort with their presentation. Perhaps the dead pot plant at the front door was an indication that this place was not the right choice for a birthday dinner.
Snodink19
loved the atmosphere of this place, it was a warm and welcoming place. I loved my food, though the lamb was a bit under for my liking, but that’s due to my preference being well done. Loved every element though, especially the little lamb balls with my lamb dish. would definitely recommend this place to others!

Work close to Fisher house been there many times over 7 years. Food is ok. Price is ridiculous like most food places in highbrook lol. I once asked for a well done beef burger cause I was pregnant and was told my pink burger was well done. No offer to correct it & no refund. Was the last time I've been there.

My sister, my 2 year old niece and I went for high tea here recently. We made a reservation a few days ago before going but when we got there we had to wait for a while as they weren’t sure if we reserved or not, but the manager was nice enough to offer a 15% discount for the wait which bought the total down by 10$.<br/>When we were seated the staff asked us what we wanted to drink and served the drink pretty fast, it was disappointing that they didn’t offer us sugar and we had to ask for it.<br/>After finishing the tea, we sat there for a good 20 minutes and my sister asked where the food was as my 2 year old niece was getting hungry, few mins after that they bought out her food which was just 4 small slices of fairy bread and some other sweets, poorly presented and the cake was dry. Another 10 minutes passed and we asked where our food was and they apologized and bought it out after a few mins. Presentation again wasn’t that great and the food was average as well. <br/>

Went here last night for friend's birthday! The venue is lovely and you feel like you've been transported away considering its in a business district. The decor is somewhat dated but its keeping with the theme of the original house and purpose. Since it was a Wednesday night it was not even close to bustling. Maybe two-three tables around us tops, so we got a decent amount of attention and checking up on from the staff. <br/><br/>We started with garlic bread, salt and pepper squid, and wedges. Garlic bread fine- on the slight crunchier side. Wedges were huge and cooked fine but no flavour. Salt and pepper squid pieces were the largest I have ever seen and pretty decent overall- would recommend. Mains we had the salmon, chicken breast, fillet mignon, and a pork thai salad. I tried my friend's salmon and while cooked fine it was bland. My chicken breast was huge and yet very tender and moist so I'm impressed with how that was done but the flavours again were a bit bland and just lacking. Its usually the dish my friend orders but it apparently looked nothing like it usually does and was lacking all the spices and flavour she usually enjoys. My partner's salad was okay but he said, again, not a lot of flavour and there was a good amount of just fatty pieces in the salad. My friend's partner said his fillet was fine/good as well but didn't seem enthused or impressed. Dessert he order the mousse and my friend and I split a sticky date pudding which was nice. I particularly enjoy the kind of vanilla ice cream parred with it.<br/><br/>At the end of the meal she remarked how her experience has never really been like this before in terms of all the food being a bit of a let down. She and her partner visit her relatively frequently. Overall, the place was very nice and fine dining, the service was very attentive and pleasant, but the food was just okay/fine and not at all deserving of the lowest priced being $32/33 and most at least $36 and up. I will say the sizes/portions were very much I would call "American" so you're getting a good amount of food. Unfortunately, the flavours and aesthetics just weren't there considering the fine dining atmosphere and prices. Probably wouldn't go again on my own unless there was some deal.

Came here with a friend last week, Overall the food wasn't too bad but was a bit overpriced for what it is. I had the calamari for my entree and grilled market fish for the main. It's definitely not the best if you're looking for intense/interesting flavour as I found both dishes to be quite bland, However, the Tiramisu was nice. I must say the ambience and decor was the highlight. Had a nice relaxed vibe, very spacious, quaint and charming. The staff was polite and attentive.

Lovely relaxed venue for our recent staff Christmas breakfast. Plenty to eat and good service. Garden swing and outdoor area is very pleasant. Thank you and seasons greetings to you all.

We recently held our staff Christmas Party here at Fisher House.<br/><br/>Overall, it was a first class venue serving third class food.<br/><br/>The Venue<br/>It has a spacious outdoor area that allows customers to wander about when their food leaves them utterly dismayed. There is a swing hanging by a tree where you can swing your frustrations and "hanger" away.<br/><br/>The Food<br/>Salad from a packet... teeth-chipping and mouth-drying chicken... rock hard buns... salty sausages... what other appalling stuff could we eat? The only acceptable food were the prawn skewers. I tried to eat as much of the prawns as I could for the 48 dollars I spent.<br/><br/>Light at the end of the tunnel<br/>We saw some appetizing dishes on other customers' tables, making us wonder whether the crappy food we had was because they are not good for catering large groups. I am willing to come back here one day to try their a la carte menu.
Denyselewislavea
I went to Fisher house for a Christmas work function and it is a very beautiful place. The staff are friendly but the food was less than average. BBQ chicken breast was hard and dry with no flavour and did not appear BBQd. Nothing looked BBQd and that was the catch of the advertisement - Santa’s BBQ buffet. The salad stated was ‘chargrilled’ and I did not see any char at all. The best part was the sausages and the bread - which stated came with butter but was margarine. Thank goodness for my colleagues and conversation otherwise I’m VERY disappointed at a charge of $40 per head. So expensive for a average meal especially seeing as we had quite a large group.. they would have made a killing from it. I thought I was the only one who felt this way but when I went back to work others agreed and will likely post reviews too. Such a great environment tho and as I said staff were amazing and friendly.

We had our Christmas party at this place. Since I’m the only one vegan in the group our manager informed this establishment ahead of time. A vegan menu was emailed to us and I was given the option to choose which I did 2 weeks ahead of time. And I was excited to devour my food but so disappointed as I didn’t get my money’s worth. The entree was bit salty and sour, the tofu salad bit bland - it lacked flavor and the apple crumble was so dry and yucky. To be fair , my colleague were satisfied with their food though they had to complain about their dessert as date puddings were served with ice cream instead of custard .

My family & I dined here for dinner lastnight and we were disappointed. We enjoyed the garlic bread and cheese bread (however, one of my family members did find it sickly sweet) our mains were disgusting! The lamb had a metal taste to it and the steak tasted burnt! You will not get value for money. Never going back to the Fisher House!
Dennis Zhang
Everything was lovely from the ambience to the service to the food. We enjoyed a variety of dishes for osur 3 course. For entrees we had scallops & prawns, chicken livers and a prawn and avo pot - scallops a bit overcooked but otherwise perfect. For mains we had lamb, filet mignon and salmon - steak sauce was slightly overwhelming with wine but other than that no b complaints. 5/5 will return soon.

Love Fisher House! Always guaranteed an enjoyable visit.<br/><br/>The menu always has great variety and the seating, whether inside or out, is relaxing with a nice atmosphere.<br/><br/>I have had breakfast and lunch meetings here as I know we will have an enjoyable time.<br/><br/>If you find yourself around East Tamaki looking for a place to go, regardless of the time of day, this is the top choice and you will not be disappointed!

Found a great deal online and headed out to one of the flashiest houses in Highbrook ✨. We booked an early table and probably got the best seat in the house! Top tip 😉. The service from the start was a little rocky, we felt as if we were an inconvenience to the staff at some points which was a shame but this feeling subsided nearer the end. The menu is quite the standard European fare with a couple dishes per animal protein and the few vegetarian options following. The food was cooked perfectly and very filling 👅. The food is not cheap I will warn you!! 💸 but you can definitely taste the quality in the meals. Overall I believe this is the perfect luxe spot for date night in South Auckland.

Went for a gathering of old friends. Had the roast Chicken . Got a thigh roasted roast potatos and some veges. Nothing special but good portion and well cooked. Very expensive so will not return. Could do better elsewhere for the cost.

Advice: Do NOT come here for high tea! I should've read other reviews before booking... <br/>1. There were 5 of us and we were given 1 high tea stand to share which I couldn't understand. Why not divide the food into 2 stands? I thought the standard is 1 stand per 2 people?<br/>2. The 5 of us paid almost $150 for our "one" high tea stand, which you can clearly see from the photo that there was not enough food to feed 5 people! <br/>3. One person in our group had a dietary requirement and this was noted in their booking confirmation. When we were seated at the restaurant, someone from the restaurant called me on my phone (why not come and talk to me instead?! So bizzare) and asked about a completely different dietary requirement. I told her, no we don't have that requirement. Next thing we know, when the food came out, they still brought out food with that dietary requirement that none of us had and the restaurant knew that from our phone call only 10mins prior. Whilst we didn't mind this, it was such a simple thing that they got so wrong. <br/>4. Scones were hard and dry and did not seem fresh.<br/>5. Desserts only consisted of cream puffs/eclairs (had different coatings but tasted the same) and macarons - so essentially only 2 types of desserts, but the most fun part of high tea is trying a range of different desserts!<br/>6. No cancellation/change policy due to the need to prepare in advance. I don't get this. They buy the desserts and just need to make some sandwiches, which must be a lot easier than preparing all the other meals on the menu? <br/>7. Bad service, they seemed inexperienced and unprofessional and just not interested in providing good service. <br/>8. Go to Langham instead (or any hotel for that matter) where you'll pay slightly more but will get good service and good quality food.

Food cooked well! Nice fish and steak! Presentation poor, proportions of food are a bit out as well. Service was good very polite waitress! Atmosphere was a bit dull!

Very polite waiters. Relaxed atmosphere. We had the salt and pepper squid, fish cakes and the seared tuna. Good size servings. We will be back.

Amazing food and fantastic service! Absolutely love this place! The steak is perfection! Fish is divine! You have to try the Nutella mousse wow!!One of my favourite restaurants for sure 😃

The best steak I've had at 36 dollars. Comes with big sides and the eye fillet didn't have a chewy bit in it. Soup was nice and big. Great service as well.

This is the place if you are looking for a delicious meal with a home taste ~ ordered: seared tuna, lamb, fillet Mignon, salmon. Everything was cooked perfectly! All the meats were tender and so well marinated. The side vegetables were well seasoned. Each plate had a lot of food and was a complete meal :)

The Fisher House venue is a really cool old heritage building, looks impressive outside and in. There's also a really nice, decent sized courtyard which is where we sat and was great on a nice sunny day. The menu was a good size with lots of options. Service was really good with the waiter/waitress coming to check on us relatively early for drinks, topping up water on a regular basis and being friendly too. I ordered the salt and pepper squid. Food came out quite fast and no one in our group was waiting, it all came out at a similar time. On the menu my meal was a salt and pepper squid with smoked paprika, lime aioli and a rocket salad. The squid was cooked perfectly and was nice and hot when it came out, seasoned well. However it seemed to be missing the smoked paprika, maybe it was really subtle? I also didn't really get a hit of lime in the aioli and there was no rocket in my salad. The salad was pretty bland, I think it was just some lettuce and tomato with a dressing. The rocket definitely would have made it more enjoyable. More lime in the aioli would have been good as I really like lime and I honestly forgot it was even on the menu when I started eating it, until I looked back later, that's how subtle it was. Overall the dish was fine, the main part (the squid) was good but it would have been a whole lot better if everything mentioned on the menu was included in the meal as it would have added a lot more flavour. Despite this I think I would return and give Fisher House another chance but try something else, as the ambience and service was really good.

Went for high tea with a group, I had read some reviews so I didn't have high expectations. My overall feeling is if you are unable to cook cakes & savouries on site then buy the best you can, this sadly is not the case. <br/>Sandwiches very average supermarket multigrain bread, but was fresh at least. The most awful budget little mini savoury. What tasted like Pam's cream puffs dipped in chocolate. Supermarket bought tartlet shells with lemon curd in them. A hefty sized cold date scone. Just awful, lots got left, containers given out for people to take home. Worst High tea I've ever had.

I cannot say enough about the service and food we received from everyone we came across at Fisher House.  We were organizing a Surprise 60th and initially dealt with the lovely Erina. We had looked around a few other places but nothing was too much trouble here.  We had an amazing room which was perfect for 20 people which we were allowed to decorate as much as we liked. (we promised to use blue tac only!) Most places you have to hire such space! We were allowed music for a boogie and again provided the sound system. We danced till midnight then cleared away all the decorations.  Couldn't expect them to do that.<br/><br/>We had a set menu. We had a choice of nibbles and we chose four.  They even did special gluten free nibbles for one guest. The beef on Bellinis were melt in the mouth, the pate was delicious and so was the calamari.  The sliders were huge and tasty and after all that there wasn't a lot of room left for the main.  That consisted of four choices and garlic bread. Again delicious and all served virtually at once which can't have been easy for 20 people.  Out of all the choices it seemed the chicken and chorizo was most popular, everyone raved. The steak was a wee bit tough.(not enough to drop my rating though) The layered potatoe was very tasty and I love bok choy so I was happy.  My daughter had the vegetarian and she said it was delicious and not just vegs plonked on a plate. They didn't even hesitate to let us use the cake as dessert. One place we had inquired about earlier was going to charge $2 a head to cut it!!<br/><br/> Because it was a surprise, the staff all played along from the time the birthday girl arrived saying they were busy but had decided to put us in a side room! They even hid two  VIP guests who entered later on.  Liam our waiter for the night was fantastic and nothing was too much trouble. The wine and beer (all pre chosen)  kept coming, we only had to ask and it was there.  The waitresses were great, so was the manager on duty..... EVERYONE was, the bar staff, EVERYONE!!  I'm sorry I don't know names but thank everyone for making this night so special.  The birthday girl was blown away by it all.  Made it all worthwhile.  Would definitely go back.  Think I have raved enough!!

I really should read the menu properly. The fillet mignon came with bok choy (!!!) So when it arrived, it threw me off a little. Having said that, it tasted great and the steak was melt in your mouth tender. Nice venue, great for photos! Service was excellent too. We were looked after by an american waitress who was very attentive and lovely. Will definitely come back!

We went here for a family lunch. Despite confirming a gluten free order 3 times, they still got it wrong. Found the whole experience here terrible. We will not be returning. We advise those with allergies to steer clear as we found the responses and knowledge of the allergens on their menu vague.
KG
I went here for my birthday lunch with my work mates. We had booked in the table for a Friday lunch. The place was pretty busy! We also pre-ordered our meals so they were very efficient with providing it to us when we got there. Food was nice and the outside area was lovely

Came here for our Christmas Party. We were seated in a pretty cramped up room. <br/>Food was average. Not much selection for a buffet. It honestly felt like a BBQ get together where no one brought anything to the party.<br/>Meats: BBQ chicken breast(large portions), sausages, steak(the steaks were quite large but tasted too much like charcoal for my liking), and prawn skewers.<br/>Vegetables: beetroot and feta salad, vegetable salad, grilled asparagus and a potato salad. Bread rolls with olive oil(in a tiny saucer we all had to share around)<br/><br/>Dessert "buffet" was really disappointing<br/>Pavlova and fruit salad. I don't think they should call it a buffet with such minimal selection. No cream, seriously no cream with pavlova! Felt a bit dry for me without the cream. At $50 per head I think it would be better to go elsewhere for that price.<br/><br/>The only thing I really liked here was the venue. Surprisingly spacious outdoor area surrounded by lush greenery in an industrial area.

Was really looking forward to coming back hwre. We were seated and then they never came back. A group of 3 came in after us ordered and received drinks and we were still waiting... then a waitress came to take their order and we still haven't had out drink order taken...25 mins wait all up and no service....suffice to say we left. Not to mention the flies circling the room.

Great value Sunday roast. Nice to see yorkshire pufding on the plate. Very friendly service and perfect tiramisu. Our table ordered the lamb, beef, chicken and pork roasts, they all had the same gravy, would definitely be an improvement to have lighter gravy for the chicken and the small piece of crackling with the pork was not crisp. The atmosphere of the old family house is really lovely and the different rooms would great for events. Overall a lovely experience. <br/>

A very welcoming and warm place for dinner.  It was my husband's 50th and they gave us a small room to celebrate our special day.  The service was good, the food was yummy, the quantities were great and it was friendly to our pocket. <br/>A must to visit while in Auckland.

Work dinner. Never knew this place existed smack bang in the middle of Highbrook business centre!!! So close to work ohh yeah. Lovely decor, very old school and classy. Loved that. Good service and food served on time. Now, the portion sizes- massive. I mean massive is a small word for the pork belly dish some ordered on our table. I've never seen such huge serving of pork belly. Those who ordered seem pretty happy with it as well. I had the chicken breast. I was really concerned that like most places the breast could be overlooked and dry. But my fears were ill founded as the breast were tender and juicy, perfect!!! The dish was really well balanced. A little sweet, but that's me trying really hard to find flaws. Really enjoyed it. The entree we had that bread Parmesan bread which was a pleasant surprise as well. Good wine menu on offer as well. Overall a really experience.

Fisher house is definitely a hidden gem found among all the industrial business' of East Tamaki. <br/><br/>There was approximately thirty of us who attended high tea for a farewell. We were given a large room that accommodated us all. Staff were attentive and took our orders straight away. The high tea selection was good but not that greatest. I loved the scones, they were seriously delicious! However the sandwiches were a let down (my opinion, some loved them). As for the little sweets selection, I absolutely adored the caramel slices and the lemon slices. Ahhh yummy. <br/><br/>I would probably visit this place again.

Had goat cheese croquettes. It was perfectly done. It came along with beetroot relish, crispy kale and salad with balsamic pomegranate dressing. Loved it. But the dressing was a bit too for me. The portion was ok too. The taste of the goat cheese was fresh and melting..

I was surprise to find this nice restaurant in the Highbrook/East Tamaki area as this is an industrial area and there is nothing decent around here. The service was lovely, the waiter was very polite. Food was OK, coffee was nice too. Strongly recommend this place for family gathering with kids as they have a fully fenced backyard, so plenty of space for kids to run around.

Just been here for a High Tea for our friends leaving do at with work. We were showed in a room that was smelling like my great grandmothers house a musty smell.... Nice room, but not a High Tea surroundings, infact it was a beautiful day outside in there patio area would of been a better setting. My tea pot poured over table cloth, several cups were chipped ( i know they are old but a chipped cup isnt nice). The service was ok, we ordered our teas and then left with nibbles and had to go looking for service for more tea. The variety of nibbles was nice, we wasnt told what was the selection on the plates. Definiately potential there, but really needs refining. Would come again for lunch or dinner not High Tea.

We booked Fisher House because it is relatively local for us, we knew it was kid friendly and they had a good special for Mother’s Day. I am probably a bit more forgiving than my partner is since she has worked in restaurants and has a higher standard. I thought the service was OK but it was clear that they were quite busy she said it was a bit inconsistent. I enjoyed my chicken liver parfait. I make a chicken liver parfait myself so it was interesting to compare. Actually I asked the waitress if she could find out for me what the ingredients were and it wasn’t till I left that I realised she had not got back to me. My partner found the avocado to be a bit over ripe in her entrée. Our boys both had burgers which were great for them. Our mothers both had roasts; one had the pork and one the beef. They were both pleased with their meals. They had a good mix of veges and they had no complaints. My partner and I both ordered steaks. I ordered the fillet mignon and my partner the sirloin. Unfortunately both our steaks came out cooked more than we had asked but we sent them back and got replacement steaks cooked how we wanted them. My partner thought the greens could have been more in keeping with the style of the meal such as broccoli, spinach or beans rather than bok choi. She also said her pomme Anna was a bit dry. I loved the little carrots and the mushrooms were creamy but not too rich. For desert our youngest son doesn't like chocolate or ice cream (strange I know) so we asked for a fruit salad or similar and were give a lovely selection of fruit that our son gobbled up as did our other son who had the banana split and the rest of us who had other deserts. The special for Mothers day was a complimentary glass of bubbles and desert. I paid the bill and it was only after that I realised we had been charged for the deserts. When I went back and asked about it I was told that only the cheesecake and hazelnut mousse were the complimentary desserts though it did not say that on the poster for the Mother's day specials and we were not told that when we were given the dessert menus. We were refunded for the one dessert cheesecake we had ordered but not the others. Despite the few kinks with our meal last night I would still go back. It is a good bistro style restaurant close to home and child friendly.

It was sometime ago I went however I remember the food was great! We ordered 3 mains and 2 entrees every dish was tasty. Service was good and it was nice we had our own room when we visited as I am not of fan of eating in over crowded places

Was looking at the menu online and was surprised when we were served with a different menu with most of the items cut out. When we left the menu online was on the front door so it was a bit disappointing.<br/><br/>We came for Sunday dinner and the food was ok. I had the fish and chips and the accompaniments that came with it (mushy peas and wakame salad) were almost like garnishes since there was so little of it. The squid was beautifully cooked though.<br/><br/>The place did look nice on the inside but the entrance with the roundabout is one way only and the exit is on the other side of the carpark, which was hard to see in the dark.

There is basically nowhere nice in East Tamaki if you want lunch and a drink, other than Fisher House. It becomes a default choice. I have been a number of times over the last year. The service is variable almost never quick. If I was on a time limit for lunch this would be a problem. The standard of the food has slipped noticeably which is most worrying. My pasta was bland. I don't normally salt pasta but I had to to eat it. There weren't any happy faces around the rest of the table when we ate. <br/>After my most recent visit two of the group commented that they wouldn't want to go back. I'm still 50:50 on whether I would return. If I did I'd want to see a big improvement in things.<br/>I hope it improves, I really do. I'd hate to see it go the way of the Lighthorse and close.

Had high tea here today and was very disappointed in the room we were seated in,it had chairs stacked on tables along one wall, felt like we were in an overflow room. The food and service were good<br/>just a shame about the seating it spoilt a special outing for my 90 year old mother who had been very sick recently.

When I'm working from Auckland, Fisher House is very handy for lunch (or an after work drink) and it always has a comfortable feeling - like a local should. <br/><br/>But staying nearer this week, I stopped in for a proper dinner, and it was great! There's always that homestead feel there, and with great service and what can only be called a beautiful meal (looks and taste) I am very happy. <br/><br/>Now I just need a plan to work through the menu...

Very very disappointing!<br/>Local and work for the company which has Fisher in its name....<br/>Christmas week, lunch, set to celebrate.... but no!<br/>Service, non existant! Had to wait for menu, wine list, orders...everything!<br/>Finally ordered, 2 other orders fine and I requested the prawn and avocado pot after the waiter had to ask me to show him what I meant when I ordered a bottle of "Moët"?? Hmmmm no avocado in the pot so sent it back..after the waitress asked" do you want to send it back?"<br/><br/>As we were celebrating a hard year and thought we'll have another bottle. Finally arrived with1/3 of the bucket with ice, no offer to pour it for us as our glasses were empty, only to find the champagne was WARM!!!<br/><br/>That was it. I went to the bar to enquire why this was warm to be told " oh we didn't have any chilled" I politely explained this was unacceptable and wanted to speak to a manager, who popped up behind me and did not apologise but offered to provide an equivalent for the same price....and offered Lanson Black label, HELLO?<br/>After my silent look he then offered perhaps Verve  Clique, hmmmm Thank you yes that would be fine.<br/><br/>Sorry but I have made allowances for this place over the years but this has done it! Christmas week and you don't have more than one bottle of Moët chilled, the you have 4 staff members who were not interested and clearly had no idea or interest in what they were doing.<br/><br/>Will not return and more so will not recommend at all.

We came here for lunch as we were in the area.... Looked promising... We had the garlic bread which needed garlic ... The duck fat wedges sounded yum and would have been if they were crispy... The market fish was ok as was the house curry-Thai chicken .... We came away disappointed and went and got a coffee to wash it down! The service was good though and nice house.

Is it wrong to start a review by raving about a certain side? Cause the duck fat chips here are amazing! Fisher House feels quite special; the establishment is beautiful, very manor-like and very upscale. The service is also very professional, and courteous. Smells like old money in here; you get the sense this is where golfers and businessmen come to do business, or the elderly couple in the neighbourhood's favourite high tea spot. However, the quality of the venue does not match the quality of the food. I ate here during a corporation function and apart from the aforementioned duck fat chips, the meal was underwhelming. Not bad by any standard, but the dishes lack refinement and imagination. I had the haloumi, and unfortunately the dish passed without much thought going through my mind. All in all however, a pleasant place to dine but perhaps not the cuisine you'd expect from the surroundings.

Came here today for a second time in the private dining room. We had my dad's 60th birthday breakfast here. The room was aet up very nicely with flowers on the table.<br/>The breakfast choices are good, there's something for everyone and it is very well priced.<br/>The service today was absolutely fantastic, this stood out to me a lot today. There was a young guy serving us today, I didn't get his name. He was just such a descent man. He greeted us in the morning when he went to put a sign outside and said happy birthday to my dad and was just very attentive. Cannot compliment him enough. It really made a difference to the morning having great staff look after us.<br/>The food is good too. Last time I had creamy mushrooms and today I had the eggs benedict with bacon. I love their hollandaise sauce - very flavoursome and a perfect consistency. I tried some of my husband's french toast which was delicious too. We will definitely be back. This is a great venue too if you want to have a function here. Today we were 18 people for breakfast and fit comfortably in the one room.<br/>

Just started doing breakfasts a few months ago. Have been twice and impressed. It's really price competitive vs Sierra which is just around the corner and the quality of food is far superior. Service just needs to be a little faster and they'll have nailed it. <br/><br/>Also great for functions whether its a quiet drink after work or a full on Xmas party.
Sally Tran
We had the fish burger, 200g Angus beef burger and steak sandwich. Fish burger was bland, Angus burger and steak sandwich were average. The atmosphere was very nice however and prices were okay. Coffee here is really nice.

For a work dinner we had a private room at Fisher House. It has a luxurious and relaxing ambience.<br/>The service was pleasant but the food took quite awhile to arrive at the table; with meals arriving when others had finished.<br/>I order a medium-rare steak and it was cooked well done. As we told the waitress, she said that the they can prepare another but it would take 40mins. The food was delicious but ridiculously overpriced and small in size.<br/>It was a nice dining experience but I wouldn't come back.
Suzanne
As part of a work group lunch this was my first visit. We had booked and didn't realise that we would be in a private room, which was good. Our waiter was efficient in a casual way, we were told about the types of fish available and there was also a soup of the day and sandwhich. I had fish (Moki, which was a first and very enjoyable) and chips with a japanese beer batter which was very light and delicious served with tartare sauce (would have liked more of that) a simple salad and way too many chips, although they were also good and dining in a big group we all shared out the food so that most of it was eaten. I think it would be great to have the option to either have a decent salad instead of chips. I really enjoyed all the food though. The waiting staff were great, leftover shank was kindly packaged up for a K9 treat. literally a doggy bag!. I only heard positive comments from everyone else at the table and good ones about the wines too. The servings were generous and well presented. I would definitely go back for a meal.
STRADS
Built in 1962, Fisher House Restaurant was converted from a stud homestead. Its relaxed ambience makes it popular with its customers. Turning from the reception is a rather big area serving drinks; there are separate small rooms with tables.<br/><br/>My friends & I had dinner vouchers which included roasted chicken Caesar salad with soft boiled egg & bacon, grilled salmon gravlax, chargrilled flat iron steak with poached egg & chips, market fish with sauteed prawn tail & pea risotto, hazelnut mousse pavlova & vanilla pannacotta for desserts. The chicken was just average and bacon was not crispy; gravlax was delicious; fish (tarakihi) was lovely; the lower-quality steaks unfortunately let the whole meal down; the 2 desserts were above average. (Food - 3.5/5; Service - 3.5/5; Ambience - 4/5)

Upon arriving inside and being greeted by a lovely winding staircase, we were ushered around the side of the bar to a really nice room that looked out into the front entrance.<br/> We were firstly given a Tea menu (big thumbs up) – I love being able to pick and choose my tea and I also like being able to see what brand of tea they use. They use loose-leaf Twinings tea and they also stock another brand (which I can’t remember the name of). I went for my usual English Breakfast, and Carl chose the Irish Breakfast.<br/><br/>We were given 8 items to try each, 4 savoury and 5 sweet. I have listed what we received below:<br/>Scones (they had raisins in them) plus freshly whipped cream and strawberry jam, Salmon and cucumber sandwiches, Egg sandwiches, Chicken and herb mayonnaise sandwiches (our favourite), Chocolate brownie with walnuts, Lemon cake, Macarons (one chocolate and one passion fruit), Eclairs (little round ones).<br/><br/> Everything was really pleasant and tasted fresh and delicious. I actually ended up giving Carl some of my sweet items as I was getting SO full! I thought for the price that we paid we received plenty of food. The only (very minor) thing I would change would be that there were more savoury options and less sweet. Even swapping one of the cakes for another sandwich or something similar.<br/><br/> The experience was made even more epic by the lovely young waiter who was looking after us. He was super polite and friendly, and even re-filled our teapots once we had gobbled all our food.

Have been a number of times for work appointments for lunch, coffee or drinks with various groups. Every time the service has been appalling and we have felt more of an inconvenience than an essential component of helping their business make money! The food is below average.<br/><br/>Update May 15 - received contact from new owner who took over 1 April which was after these visits. Sounds like they are putting good effort in to turn thins around so will revisit.

Fisher House is a 60s homestead repurposed as an event venue and restaurant. Was there as a group of four to have Sunday lunch and we thoroughly enjoyed everything - the service, the ambience, the menu, the taste of the food and the presentation. Two had the Sunday roast option - the meat on the plate meant the vegetables had to come on a second shared plate - while two had a salad and something else from the regular menu. We'll be back :-)

Just called in for coffee one Sunday afternoon. Nice coffee, friendly staff, interesting building with lots of history. Loved the games room with the original snooker table but it's looking a bit shabby and needs a new cloth. Maybe that's just my excuse for losing!

We took my elderly mother who is visiting to Fisher House for High Tea was supposed to be a special treat, was very disappointed. Frankly when I pay $29 a head do not expect to see squares etc that were bought from the supermarket, sprinkling a little dehydrated fruit dust over it does not make it special. The savoury plate was a selection of white bread sandwiches, the only thing that was "special" were the macaroons. Although the staff were friendly enough they need training in "waiting" as a restaurant I expect them to know what side to serve from and not have to ask who ordered what drink.<br/>Very disappointed

Whole heartily agree with Cathy W, way past time for a makeover inside. The one wait staff we had gave the feeling he'd rather be elsewhere. Food below par. I sent an email of complaint &amp; am still awaiting their reply a month later.

We went to Fisher House for High Tea on Saturday afternoon. We were very disappointed. The place looked nice from the outside then you go in and there is a lovely staircase but the carpet is filthy.......really filthy.......There was no atmosphere the sandwiches were wet. The cloth used to keep them fresh was obviously too wet. When you think of high tea you think it will be something special. Maybe we expected too much...Where was the table cloth the nice cups and plates, Where was the teapot???? My plate wasn't even clean. So sorry Fisher House we will not return and we won't recommend the place either.

Had an amazing lunch with clients last week, good good food very impressive dishes had all round, recommend the chicken salad with pearl couscous delish!!<br/>Overall excellent surroundings and service, great little restaurant in a oasis surrounded by business parks , feels like being in a country club. <br/>Very good value for well thought out food, recommend to all <br/>5 stars all the way

I love the atmosphere in the restaurant it was really lovely and when we went it wasn't busy which made t quite peacefully. We had the high tea, the food was so fresh and really delicious. The coffee and service on the other hand.. The coffee was so cold we were able to dink it all in one go. When asked if we could have it a bit hotter we it eye rolls which wasn't very delightful to witness. Being that there was only my group and one other it shouldn't take so long for a coffee to be made. Working in hospitality myself where I am making coffee everyday, I know how long it takes to make one coffee and 20 minutes when there were no other orders was ridiculous. I was not very pleased with this service and will probably not go back there for a very long time.

First impression on Fisher House from outside is wonderfully quaint and feels like you're in the country somewhere, has a welcoming feeling to it. It's one of those places where you drive past all the time and one day you'll stop. Finally a friend recommended it as he hadn't been either. I arrived first and was surprised by the lovely atmosphere, I was asked if I had a booking and was embarrassed that I may be turned away if I hadn't, however, the staff were very hospitable and ushered me into the bar to wait until my friend arrived and was presented with a glass of lemon water (pretty cool). As it was a working week, I had the day off and felt under dressed with corporate people having brunch/lunch meetings etc, however, the staff were very welcoming and I loved that about the place. I ordered the poached chicken breast meal which was beautifully cooked, we ordered wine and our water glasses were filled regularly and our waiters were very timely and professional throughout our time there. For a Cafe/Bistro, Fisher House is above that and I would highly recommend paying a visit for a casual brunch/lunch/dinner/staff meeting to check the place out, you will be pleasantly surprised and I don't think there is another place like this out south. It's in the middle of a business development area in Highbrook, yet the surroundings are semi-rural. I loved it and will be back as many times as I can now that I know where it is. Thanks to all staff at Fishers House!!

My most recent visit to Fisher House was Sunday 25 August. Once again I enjoyed the wonderful service, food and ambiance . I have returned to the restaurant several times for the very reason that I feel confident in taking friends or colleagues along. Yesterday was a birthday celebration and the staff welcomed a cake being brought along. I can only now look forward to returning.

We had a lovely dining experience at Fisher House on the weekend. Wonderful food, and service. Highlihgts included the vegetarian torte (amazing), the side of beans (with lemon and almonds), and their peanut butter mousse (heavenly). Just make sure you make a reservation, as there kitchen closes at 8pm on a Saturday night! See photos of our meal and read more at http://celestereviews.wordpress.com/2013/04/02/and-were-racing/

Went for lunch with work on a Wednesday. For the price, I found the food (I had the eye fillet at $34) to be average at best. The most disappointing part of the experience was the service. The restaurant was full but they only had one person taking care of around 40 people. We waited over an hour for our meals and had to keep asking to be served drinks. Overall, pretty average.
Marilyn Hedley-Scott
Went for dinner with a deal voucher, the meals were great small quantities but with a voucher very reasonable. Was disappointed with service as arrived 7.30 and asked if we could have a drink first, so sat in the bar then told we had to order by 8pm. Sat in a very noisy room with a big crowd so moved to the bar area. No problems. Dessert came and we were offered coffee. I said not at the moment but maybe after dessert and the wine was finished. I got told the Kitchen would be closed. <br/>Felt like we were rushed through so the staff could go home. Shame as it put us off.

This was our first time dining at Fisher House. Service was excellent, in particular a young lady that waited on us most of the night did exceptionally well very hospitable and polite. We were most pleased with the menu, myself and my family enjoyed a 3 coarse meal which all servings were more than what we had expected... The beef was to die for (cooked to perfection) We will definitely be coming back... HIGH 5 to the whole team that worked tonight!!! Thanks... Debbie

Gorgeous weather today made it perfect for our lunch here - we sat in the sunny, open conservatory. <br/><br/>The food was very delicious: I had the Goats cheese tart w caramelised onions, mizuna, walnuts &amp; truffle oil, accompanied by a refreshing side salad, which had some mystery dressing which really was extremely tasty.<br/><br/>My partner was over the moon about his "Go Green" burger - which was a Lunch Special - it looked excellent - with big portobello mushrooms and huge wads of chargrilled red-pepper inside.<br/><br/>The setting at Fisher House is lovely - we overlooked green, green grass and beautiful old trees.<br/><br/>Service was friendly &amp; quite casual.<br/>The advice on wine was good &amp; the only thing amiss was that the Monteiths' beer was served in an Amstel glass... but does that change the crisp sweet flavour? Nah!! It was all good.<br/><br/>We definitely recommend this place as a good spot for weekday lunch. We'd zipped down from Mt Wellington, and were surprised at how quick it was to get there. Parking was extremely easy which was a bonus.

Went last night on a voucher deal mid winter Christmas Dinner, thank goodness we didn't have to pay full price, as most of it was inedible. When we arrived I handed over the voucher and we were taken to our table, the menu had been changed slightly, and though I was assured the Seafood chowder still had scallops in it, I certainly couldn't find any + the squid in it was chewy. The service was slow, there was a greasy mark on the curtain and a chip out of one of our main course plates. The main (Roast Beef) meat was so full of sinew we couldn't chew most of it and the desert was a steamed pudding with caramel that had gone to chewy toffee stage, we were asked for our deal voucher again through the meal which was embarrassing, and the jazz style music in the background was just awful.

Went here with my partner for a nice dinner last Friday evening &amp; wow it was a real treat. The staff were fantastic &amp; the 3 course set menu we had was delicious, full of flavour &amp; incredible presentation you could tell the chef took real pride in putting everything together. The premises has plenty of character to it &amp; I have no hesitation in recommending to other dinners, we'll definitely be back A+ Fisher House:)

We went there for lunch on sunday to try out for mothers day to see if it was any good and by word of mouth from other people. We both chose the Roast of the day and that was good indeed with carrots, potatoes, brocollini horseradish sauce which had a kick to it. The service was good and the meals took about 20 minutes to come out and then we tried the desserts my partner had the sugar glazed lemon curd tart w raspberry &amp; pomegranate sorbet and i had the coconut liquer panacotta, with pineapple mint salsa both were good indeed. The only problem was the price very expensive for the two of us but worth the travel over to there. Look forward to Mothers day then.

took some business clients for a early working lunch, service was slow and we were made to feel that we were a inconvience to them. <br/><br/>coffee was average and the food we felt was overpriced for what it was.<br/><br/>great venue and surrounding but let down by the service and food.

Fisher House hosted my 21st for around 90 people and provided us with a 'Half House' hireage. We had subsidised drinks plus nibbles, with us bringing a cake etc.<br/><br/>The atmosphere was great for the mixture of family and friends and there was enough space. Everyone found the service really efficient and professional.<br/><br/>My family and I would recommend Fisher House for a range of functions and we will definitely be returning as we know the food is great.<br/><br/>Thanks KJ, Tino and bar girls for a wonderful 21st birthday.

have just been to fisher house tonight for dinner, was very disappointing, we turned up at 6.30 and felt like we wernt welcome at all and like they were closing up around us. We had spiced beef pockets and the tomato brochette as starters, and had absolutely no taste at all, then finally an easy 40mins our mains came out with one of the eye fillets being a medium rear when asked for a medium -well, when we approached about it, we asked for another meal so ordered fish as was faster to cook, an we got charged for it. all in all for meal for 4 people that was only half right it cost us $400

Staff wonderful and friendly. Meals lacked imagination though. They were very standard fare. Lovely atmosphere.

I recently arranged a combined work dinner. With 13 guests, the drawing room was set aside for us. A tab was quickly set up at the bar making ordering of drinks easy. The food was superlative and, with 13 guests, just about everything was tried. The wines, chosen by a friend who is knowledgeable, were pronounced excellent. The service could not be faulted, friendly, informative without being pushy and the food arrived promptly. Soft background music was appreciated and the bill was very reasonable. All in all a wonderful evening, definitely to be repeated. We were so impressed that my wife insisted on having her birthday breakfast there, and we enjoyed it enormously. With plenty of parking, a relaxing setting and a fullsize snooker table, the original Fisher Home, of the Ra Ora stud, deserves a try.

We have just had a family celebration for our 50th wedding anniversary, and were extremely happy with the venue at Fisher House. The separate dining room plus adjacent games room worked well, and kept the younger folk occupied trying to play snooker and darts. The buffet menu, with a couple of items added, proved to be great, and the generous quantities of oysters and prawns were particularly popular. The friendly and efficient waitress service kept the drinks coming, and the final bill was very moderate. 100% recommended!

Just recently went to a mutual friends wedding function. What a hidden gem!<br/>I thought it may have been a bit cool for the time of year but ended up being a beautiful day with equally great food &amp; service.<br/>The staff were attentive but not obtrusive giving us ample time to enjoy the day. Food arrived on time as per the Bride &amp; Groom's schedule.<br/>Will remember Fisher House if I ever need a function venue.<br/>Thanks to all the staff at Fisher House.

Attended a function held here. Was not impressed with the timing or quality of the food. We had to wait far to long for our meals, in the cold and dark. Felt ignored. I actually caught a cold after this. Now I admit I am young and fit, but for my elderly grandparents, sitting in the cold and dark for hours was not on.

Went there for lunch with several business clients, felt it was overpriced and seemed to take ages to be brought out. We had to eat quickly as had afternoon meetings to get to.<br/>Seemed confused if it is a bar, cafe, function centre or restaurant.

We had a work lunch here, which we pre ordered for so food all arrived at a nice time.<br/>Prices were reasonable and food tasty.<br/>Have also been here for Friday after work drinks, where they bring around nibbles - how is that for host responsibility?<br/>Nie atmosphere and decor also.

Amongst the fledgling new industries of the Highbrook industrial park lie the relics of Woolf Fisher’s history. You know, him of Fisher & Paykel fame. Various F&P factories still remain in the nearby East Tamaki, amidst the backdrops of newer information based industry: ANZ, NZ Post et al. The blue & white-collar residents of this new landscape have two local haunts at the moment whilst the Highbrook estate is in it’s infancy. One is Sierra Coffee and the other is Fisher House, Woolf’s old house, built in 1962 on the then 177-acre racing horse and stud farm. The house is adorned with horse racing memorabilia. The rooms comprise a grand lobby, a billiard room, a cosy study, a dining room, a bar and a large garden terrace which is a great sunny spot in the summer months.<br/><br/>As a bar, because it’s got a captive local audience, the prices on your favourite drop are certainly at a premium for the area. Just 3 kms down the way in the ever-classy Papatoetoe, you can pick up a handle for less than $5. This of course can be forgiven by the quality of the beers and wines available. Throughout the evening, Fisher House can be quite the little hotspot for the local white-collars, but during the day the place is far more sedate. Fisher House have started to run membership offers and GroupOn type deals recently. I had been a patron of Fisher House many times before but on this occasion it was on a members deal: $19 for a two course meal. Sounded fair enough, so we popped down of a lunch time and were ushered to our seats.<br/><br/>I had the Salt and Pepper Calamari with Medjool Dates and Roasted Garlic in a Rocket Salad, while my dining buddy had a BLT Sandwich. So far, so standard sounding, but the calamari was a nice balance. As a side order, some duck-fat cooked wedges were nice dipped in the aioli. For dessert, a Tarte Tatin – perfect; soft, succulent apples in a sumptuous little pastry that was crispy on the edges, all complete with lovely caramel sauce. The other dessert was a Raspberry Pavlova with Honeycomb Icecream. The ice cream was dee-lish but the pavlova could have done with more raspberry filling and was merely a take on the word; it was soft and singed on the outside, but didn’t resemble the good old Kiwi classic. More like a chewy roulade! The main let down of the afternoon was the service. It was uninformed, slow and awkward.<br/><br/>To read more, visit: http://kiwifoodwonders.com/2012/07/15/fisherhouse/
