Tasty food, Good ambience. Has visited this place after couple of years..Definetly alot of improvement in food quality..

Good and service was good where tables were so sticky and dirty...not an ambiance to go for sit-down dinner ..only take away are good as food was good ...

Service was good. Food came out quite fast as well. Price is reasonable. Curry was probably a bit too oily, and too salty for my taste tho. Not sure if its meant to be that way. Biryani isn't exactly fitting our palates either. Just a different style. Else, worth a try.

Good tasty food most of the times. Service at the counter is alright. Best Biriyani shop around South Auckland. Everything else is stock standard.

We have always loved the food here, especially the chicken dum biryani, less oil and tasty, have got food catered for my baby shower and all guests loved it, it's our go to go place for take away all the time

Me and my friends decided to eat some good indian desi food. So we went to the southern spice dine-in.We ordered jalfarezi chicken, dum biryani, naan, chicken 65 and tandoori chicken. Food was soo yummy, quantity was good enough to fill your desi food cravings. Staff was very friendly and helpful. But naan was not that good. They should must improve thier naan. They serve halal. Thank you.

The food here is so delicious, Chilli Chicken, Methi Chicken & biryanis are must to try.

I ordered for 15 people, had 2 entree and 2 mains. Everyone loved the food and we could not finish it all. lots of left overs and everyone took a box home since food was so good. I would highly recommend Chilli mushrooms for entree and Andhra chicken for mains.

In my opinion, this would be the best Indian takeaways in the Auckland area. I am a 75 year old Kiwi and very particular about food. We buy live in Pukekohe but we are happy to drive to Manukau to get such excellent food. My recommendations: Butter chicken, Fenugreek Chicken, Lamb Rogan Josh, unbeatable with Garlic Cheese Naan.

Cozy little place in Manukau. Their curries and Indo-chinese food is good. Their butter chicken is different to other places as it's less sweet and has a depth of flavour. Chicken 65 is also very nice. Their food is always fresh, of good quality and a decent portion. Must try for anyone looking for a flavourful experience.

Food was really good, especially starters. Tawa fish is a must try if you are looking for a seafood starter. Perfect for an authentic mughlai style hyderabadi biryani if you like it mild.

They microwaved the chicken biryani (the box was flaming hot) as it was unreasonably old . Tasted horrible. Please discuss with stuff before ordering.

The food is excellent however, the customer service is one of the worst I have ever experienced. Arriving on time to pick up our order we were asked to wait 5-10 minutes which is fair. 10 minutes later we asked on the status but the rude lady said that the food as been ready but our Eftpos machine was down. Without informing us prior to us we had cash and could have avoided an extra 20 minute wait. To confirm our order, the lady got our order wrong and did not apologize and tried to argue with us. With instruction of the manager to refund is the extra money she charged us, she was still hesitant to apologize. I hope the customer service of this place will be reviewed and an improvement will take place as the food is to die for. Unfortunately, the lack of customer service ruined this meal for me.

This place serves authentic, delicious food HOWEVER their service needs to be improved. We ordered takeaway on the phone and was given a time to pick it up. Now, I usually am patient and can wait an extra 5-10 minutes if need be and that’s what we got told when we get there. But we waited longer than that. <br/><br/>The thing that disappoints us the most is that this is not the first time it’s happened. The timeliness of the food is an issue all the time. There is also a lady there in particular who is very rude, did not know what she was doing and was very unapologetic. <br/><br/>It’s really such a shame because the food is great but the service of that one person in particular and the timeliness really, really brings it down.

I usually order lunch over the phone in advance from here and their food is great but the service is really poor. I have to wait for a long time to get my order. I have to go knock at their kitchen door to get some response. The lady who works here is really rude in person and on the phone and keeps telling us to wait another few minutes.<br/>Even though we order in advance the food is never ready on time. They also need to update their menu and pricing online. I really do like the food here but i spent 20 minutes waiting for my food today.

First time customer and didn't disappoint. Vegetarian biryani was really nice and so was the mix vegetable curry. Will definitely try other dishes from here rather than driving all the way to Sandringham

We bought takeaways.  Prices were reasonable.  The lamb dum biryani was nice although there were very few lamb pieces and very boney.  Tasted nice though.  We may try their chicken biryani next time. Ordered the Manchurian chicken but it tasted entirely different from other Manchurian chicken from other restaurants.  The taste was ok but we didn't like it much.  The Andhra Chicken Curry was the highlight.  Though a bit salty, this dish was very delicious.  We will be back for more.    Forgotten to take photos.

Tried Southern Spice as a recommendation from a friend and I could not be happier. Perfectly cooked biryani, the lamb masala was a taste explosion on the palate. Succulent lamb and chicken, the heat level was spot on. Please never change your recipes!

Okay this is the second time I’ve been here and my review isn’t so much about the food which is yum. It’s the painstakingly slow service. From order taking to food arriving. Plus having to buy rice with your food. Not cool. Especially when you’re not advised you need to.

A good economical option. We mostly do takeaways here and it has been good. A good variety to choose from.<br/>Their Indo-Chinese options and Biryani are spot on!

Placed an order over the phone and they said 25 minutes. Got there 30 mins later and there were at least 5 people waiting for takeaways. One girl serving the restaurant and manning the counter. At one point she was opening the naan and counting it with her hands. Walked out with no food. Won’t be going back. Shouldn’t tell people to come in 25 mins if you are not planning to stick to your word. Infuriating.

The paneer butter masala was amazing, the naans were fresh hot and had a great taste and texture. The veg Manchurian was also outstanding!! The vege buryani was quite good and a good large quantity for $10.Food came out fast and waitress was friendly and able to answer questions about the food. Prices are reasonable. The food came out within 10minutes. Some music for dining in would be nice though. some of the cutlery on the table was also not clean .will return again though for take out!

I do believe that southern spice Henderson is a branch of you...<br/>That shop is so lame and pathetic. Heating food in Mico wave . Food on display frothing up too be going off . Insects in chicken dish. .a taste less Mico wave heated biryani.<br/>A total disappointment. ..<br/>

I have recently ordered Special Chicken Biriyani. I was told by my friends that I can get the best Hyderabadi biriyani at this restaurant.  But, I am very much disappointed with what I got in my box. its stale rice and dry chicken pieces. Now, I understood that these guys can't prepare a quality food rather its hyped as to being authentic. Guys don't judge by my comments..you might be liking this type of food.. But, I am born and bought up in the authentic biriyani land. so I know how biriyani tastes.

For biryani usually my husband and I go to Paradise which is located in Mt Roskill, however when we moved to the South side it was really hard for us to travel to Mt Roskill for some Indian food! That’s why we gave this restaurant a shot, I must say their biryani is not exactly like paradise, but it is delicious it has a South Indian flare to it, which I enjoyed however my husband did not. My husbands favourite is the pepper chicken and butter chicken, unfortunately the quantity is not the best! The butter chicken was for $10 ( I’m not exactly sure of the prices right now, it’s been more than a year) and the pepper chicken was $12, for the same size as the other curries, which always let us down, however the taste made up for the quantity. Overall if anyone is looking to get some Indian food in Manukau this is a good place to visit!

Nice place for a casual dinning or takeaway. Good taste and good quantity for decent price. I have loved their curries and naan were exceptionally good. Something I was not expecting. This is gonna be the new place for my takeaway!!

Great biryani! My goto place when I crave biryani. Also recommend the methi chicken. Reasonable price. Ambience not so good. Have always done takeaways. The chicken 65 was a total letdown.

If you live in South Auckland and don’t want to drive to Sandringham for a trusted family pack of Biryani this is a great alternative. I am a hard out Biryani lover and I can most definitely give their Biryani a big thumbs up!

Wish I had started ordering food from here much earlier. The Biryani was wonderful - great flavours and the meat was super soft. Saves me the hassle of going to Sandringham!! Keep up the good quality.

Food is tasty but all mains (chicken ) are with bones. No other restourants give mains (chicken) with bone. It's very dissapointing. I eat only chicken in meat. Not tried other dishes. Chicken biryani is tasty but it's too dry. They should improve on this.

Good Little find in Manukau. Let's say that we were quite disappointed by the quantity and quality of Indian restaurants in Papatoetoe.  It gets an extra .5 as it saves us the trip to Sandingram.<br/><br/>Food Is good. We love the pepper chicken and Biriyani (can be a little less rich). The only complaint is that the wait is usually quite long. I always call ahead to order, however its never ready when I get there. <br/><br/>Food is on point though, need to work on time of service.

Tasty food, lunch special, many varieties, Andhra specials... but delay in service. I visit this restaurant most of the times when I go to Manukau.

Chicken Biryani is the only dish I have had here and that takes me back every time. The taste is consistent as we have taken the same dish few times. The service is quick which helps.

This is my Hyderabadi Biryani 'go to' place. Have never eaten in here as I always take out. The Mutton Biryani and Veg Biryani is the best in town. The Talawa ghosht is succulent, spicy and melts in your mouth. Also recommend the dal and the okra which is great value for money if you feel like simple vegetarian. My husband enjoys the chicken Manchuria as well. My only complaint is the service which is always soooo slow, even if you call ahead and order it's never ready and waiting!

Value for money and decent food in hyderabadi flavour. Perhaps the biryani and talawa gosht is their star attraction although we haven't tried it yet.

So far the best place to get a really tasty mouth watering biryani which is no do doubt the best I have eaten in akl.their lamb masala is just out of the world. The chef Parvez is really a star....

Excellent taste of hyderabad. New and fresh. If you like to experience authentic Hyderabadi(or Deccani) cuisine of India around South Auckland, it is the best place to be. Loved their mutton biryani and lamb fry. Owner Srinivas and his chefs seemed professional and didnt compromise on quality and authenticity.
