Review Nineteen Eighty-one - Manukau

Grant Dellar
First impressions weren't great I must be honest. It was very open and empty on a Friday night 7pm. It started getting busier as the night went on but not by much. Definitely shows it's age in good ways and bad. The gents toilet could do with some work. The food was excellent. The service was very good as well. All 9 in our party thought the food far surpassed any expectations. So 1 less star just because the place looks a bit sketchy, 4 for the food.

Went for dinner this week and the food and service were awesome! We were a group of 9 and everyone was impressed! Food was fresh and tasty, large portions and great prices! The ribs were the best I've had in a very long time! We will definitely be back next time we are close. Thanks 1981.

This was our first visit at 1981. The waitress was very friendly and informed us of the "Specials". I asked if I could non alcoholic version of one of their cocktail's, she said no problem. We had the garlic cob for Entree. For Mains, My wife chose the Steak & Kidney pie with mash. I had the sundried tomato and feta cheese stuffed chicken fillet. My wife said it was the best pie she had ever eaten. I really enjoyed the stuffed chicken too. The decor brought back lots of memories. Looking forward to our next visit.

I've had meals with my kids and drinks with friends several times. Great place!! New management need to be aware of their neighboring competitors and increase their food portions (that my son said.....) lol. Overall, a nice place to unwind & dine.

Used to be Finn McCools. Gone thought a retro revamp with new owners. Now serving beers in old school.milk bottles as well as the usual pint glass. Hand cut chips are very tasty but small portions and large price lets it down. Average amount of parking availible. Beer garden is an asset.

Generally very good food. Good selection of beers. There is loads of parking around the side of the building. It can look a bit dodgy but don't be afraid to try it

My partner and I like to come chill here from time to time when we want to drink locally. Decent sounds.
