Review Lone Star Manukau - Manukau

Eunice Rongo
Excellent waitress, fast, friendly and attentive- given that this was their first time working as a collective. Arrived around 2 or 3pm, didn't book, however we were shown to a seat upon entry. Food; Yumbo, I ordered the tacos, we had mussels and garlic bread with fries. After this we had coffee's and the banoffee pie was best I've had. It was loaded with cream, fresh banana on a salted caramel 🥧. I highly recommend this dessert. Another whanau member had the cream caramel, which she said was good. Cleanliness; Overall, ok. Toilets were ok - could do with a good deep clean in my opinion. Coffee's- unfortunately, they were not extra hot, and there was a disconnect between barista and wait staff. Prices; Good value for the area and food and service. Will be back. Before you go. If you found my review helpful😉 please give me a thumbs up 👍🏼and don't forget to follow me on Google Maps as I highlight the sublime👌🏽 and not so sublime👎🏼 goods and services available to us travellers 🙂

Almost full house when we arrived on a Black Saturday evening. Good we called to reserve seats earlier. Servers were kind and polite though food arrived a bit late, yet again we did have a good bite. Ribs our fav now, the venison also the rib eye were fantastic. Filled our hungry tummy indeed. Be back for more.

Super busy but our food came out pretty quickly and so did our drinks. Our waitress was lovely. The BB King Ribs were divine! We were all very happy with our food and drinks. Finished off with tea and dessert which also came out pretty quickly.

Great place and great food. The manager was very polite and ensured everyone was looked after. We didn't get served though and had to find a waiter, but meals came really fast after ordering and couldn't fault the steak. Had no offers to order any other drinks or desert so left only after a mains Will be back!

Great steak and rustic chunky chips covered in delicious mushrooms. Ribs were tasty and huge even tho we were expecting beef and they turned out to be pork ribs. Nice mini pav and ice cream to finish.

It was a busy night and slow service was expected. Nevertheless the staff was very hospitable and were pleasant. The acoustics are terrible in the restaurant, making it so loud and hard to have a conversation or hear the staff repeating your order. Great portions.

Been coming here for the longest time. They are always full. We are group of 5 adults and 4 children. Our table was booked for 6pm. Tonight wasnt that great, service wise. They didnt have enough cutlery on the table, they only serve us with one water jug and they brought out our nachos and garlic bread with no side plates. The kiddy meal, (mini hot dog) is a no. I recommend the prawns. A restaurant as busy as this should have more staff. It's not wheel chair friendly, you maybe able to get a baby buggy in but it's very tight. Parking is not a problem.

Food at lonestar is always delicious Especially their ribs full of flavour and large portions. Lone Star Manukau is a great branch. Very clean, lots of parking space and excellent location. The staff are very friendly and food is always on point.

Delicious meal. For what I ordered perfectly. 6hrs later im still not hungry. Well worth the cost. Waiter was awesome too. Kids felts n colouring pencils weren't so run down she couldn't really colour. They could do with new ones. very warm inside. Doors could be opened but no dramas otherwise.

Went there for a booked work function. Food was great and arrived in a timely fashion. The only negatives were always a wait at the bar, one not nice staff member and the little bugs flying around our table.

Always our family favourite. Customer Service is ALWAYS on point. The manager is awesome! We’ve been in a couple times while it was a full house and can clearly see staff are under the pump. We are always greeted with a smile regardless of how busy it is. Thank you LS Manukau! You guys are awesome. The food is the added bonus to our evenings spent at Lone Star.

Delicious mains! I had the Lamb, wow! I enjoyed every bite, perfectly cooked!! Looking forward to returning!

Nice service, staff very attentive food was delicious we had a big group but everything was all good

It was our first time here (couple of months ago now). I was suprised that the space inside was actually quiet big and looked nice - as from the outside it doesn't look like much. We only came for dessert and really enjoyed it! The staff were very friendly and full of smiles which was very welcoming. Would definitely come back.

Service was okay. Drinks were okay. Food was okay. Food took a while but when the meals arrived they all arrived hot and at the same time and for a table of 6 I thought that was impressive.

Steve, Don and their staff are fantastic. They’re always very welcoming and accommodating. Great food, great service and a nice place to hang out.

Really hard to rate this outlet. The service was excellent, the prices were okay, the portions are huge and the staff were really nice. <br/>The 9peice ribs i ordered with the chips and salad was huge. The size of the serving definitely matched the price. Taste wise was nice sort of an asian style of sauce? Some meat was a lil chewy and dry at times but still tolerable when combined with the salad. The chips are the biggest cut chips i have ever come across. Like a potato halved and then deep fried. Massive chips lol. <br/>The problem was after eating here i spent the entire night and half the next day on the toilet. It was for sure cause of the food i ate from here cause it was the only thing i ate that day. <br/>Other than that everything i mentioned was great. <br/>If it wasn’t for my bad experience i would sure return but will consider it cause my actual experience at the restaurant and service was good. <br/><br/><br/>

Went here on a Sunday night with friends after white water rafting. Nice spacious restaurant, friendly service, good place to hang out with friends and have drinks. Food is ok!
Love Food
Good place to dine with family and friends, came here on a Monday night was bit busy but food was fast and delicious steak was juicy, Jack Daniels dessert is a must when coming here.

Friendly and great staff, loved the little thank you note written on the receipt. What a lovely touch! Had a few mocktails and namchos and it was really tasty. Good location, lots of parking, great drink and food prices and nice staff.

Welcoming greeting on arrival, prompt service. Staff checked on how the meal was. Entree of chicken, shame it wasn't cooked to order, otherwise delicious seasoned sauce, arrived nice and hot. However, I understand the need to pre-prepare some of the food. Main of roast duck a little dry, thankfully accompanied with a yum sauce to provide moisture. Overall enjoyed the atmosphere, great service, and good food.
Foodie4909
I love this place.. food is yum!! Barney’s ribs are my favourite.. banoffee pie is to die for!! Staffs are very nice and friendly!! I love eating at lone star, but everytime I go there it’s always busy and the waiting time is too long!! But I still love their food and service

I’ve always enjoyed eating at lone star, the food was good and the service great. The only thing is the wait times, however, they say a busy restaurant is a good restaurant. <br/><br/>The food here is great. I am always down for the Dixie chicken. By the time you get to dessert you are stuffed. But you must try a dessert there, just to top it all off. <br/><br/>Ambience is nice, however those wooden chairs can be a little uncomfortable <br/><br/>Fav Mocktail is served here, the Juice Newton
Kai Mai
Special occasion venue given the prices for a dinner but a lovely place to attend if looking for a good hearty meat fix. The steaks and ribs are to die for. Service is great & desserts also go down a treat here. Parking can be a bit tricky at times given its shared space with other food vendors but you can't go past Lone Star for a quality meal.
Sheryl
Lone Star is great! We enjoyed it a lot. They took great care of my 3 year old niece and provided her with activities to keep her entertained. <br/>I had my usual “Johnny Cash”, I would totally recommend this place.

Steak was alright, though i asked for full cooked steak it was still pink real close to the centre. The Chicken was Dope 👌🏾 Entre was in within 10mins of Arrival and food was ready within 30minutes after ordering.

Thursday evening Family Dinner with 20 people.  Great experience from when we walked in, until we left.  We ordered 2 of The Wagon Wheel Platters & 2 Lone Star Loaves.  This was value for money & was enough for all 20 to start out on.  This restaurant also allowed us to bring my son's cake in which was so nice of them to do that.  Everyones mains were ordered & we didnt have to wait long for all of us to receive our meals.  Large servings were a bonus & everyone enjoyed their meals.  No Complaints from us about food or Service. Thank you Lone Star for making our Family Dinner such a great experience. We will be back!
Swetha
Love this place. I always go here with friends and family because they always have amazing food, great service and great drinks. It’s always busy yet the standards never drop and the food quantity is always large. Highly recommend the lamb shank with the mash and the prawns with green salad.

We booked a table for my partners birthday dinner last month, for 9 people (6 adults, 2 kids and a baby). Despite this (as well as arriving 5 mins early), we still ended up waiting half an hour for our table. For this reason im giving 3 stars instead of 4. Our mains took 30 mins to arrive, dessert took 15-20 mins.<br/><br/>I ordered the buttered mash potato for our baby which was DELICIOUS. I had the prawn star and cheesecake - both were very yummy. I had to take the cheesecake home as i couldn't finish it! My partner had the rockin ribeye and creme brulee - he said they were both fine but would've been better if the ribeye was charred on the outside. The squid rings were so good, but the milky pud was way too sweet for us.
Laura And Peli
Very disappointed in the food here. I ordered the Johnny Cash Stash and my chicken breast was burnt. Dinner felt like it took forever to come out. Service was friendly. They made a mistake in my order and rectified it straight away also gave me extra mushroom sauce (when I asked for it) and didn’t charge me. Won’t be back here this year.

Went there for a catch up dinner, haven't been to lone star in a few years but from memory I remember the place being not only busy but the food use to be amazing. Not so much anymore. I had the redneck ribs the portion was good but pricy 9 ribs for 24 dollars with out any sides. Not to mention the sauce that was just sweet and had no other flavoring the meat itself was tough and needed to braised a lot longer. Atmosphere was a let down lighting was very dull service was quiet slow. We should have gone to dominos

Loved it here!! On the plus side, food was delicious and the customer service was great. We had two servers who were very attentive and friendly. Took baby in a pram and the table we were given was so comfortable and spacious. It is very kid friendly. On the low side I ordered a medium-rare steak but it very rare, and also the waiting for food was about an hour, which is why I took a few points off. But overall I really enjoyed my time and the food there. Will definitely be going there again.

My partner and I came in this evening for our anniversary dinner and had a great time. The young lady Lisa who was serving us was so lovely and her service was great! The food was well seasoned and delicious. Will definitely be coming back, thank you lone star!

I’ve eaten at most of the Lone Stars in Auckland at one time or another, and the great thing with them is you know what you’re getting. They have specials but their main menu is pretty standard & of good quality.<br/>Unfortunately our experience at Manukau (first & only visit) was not quite as successful.<br/>Let’s start with positives - the service was friendly & helpful. Quite efficient. Drinks made well. This is the main reason my score was not lower. People do make or break a business.<br/>The issue was the food, and I’m guessing the issue actually is that the chef is not a chef as the mistakes were pretty basic. That possibly combined with poor quality protein? <br/>Steak was requested medium rare, which it nearly was, but was chewy & really not nice (quality of the meat?). Haven’t experienced that at other Lone Stars.<br/>The pork was also incredibly tough, and had no flavour. The way it was cut, it needed to be slow cooked. Definitely inexperienced chef. To the Managers credit he did remove this from our bill as it was inedible.<br/>The Dixie chicken also had sauce that was very very runny as was the mash - our friend orders this regularly at other branches & had never seen this.<br/>So again great service & the manager did try to put things right which is appreciated, but the chef needs more training, or the produce needs reviewing (order it elsewhere).
Cheryl Ying Chen
the worst experience ever.<br/>chicken was uncooked, i asked to cook it again, but the chef rejected 2 times and end up cooked it till burnt.. they wanted me to eat it as it was, which the meat was slimmy and pink on the inside, but the chef said it is normal, it is fully cooked.
Canistan Charles
Well cooked steak, freshly baked potato wedges and fresh coleslaw. Such a long wait for food but worth it. Sauce is amazing. Very helpful staffs.

Dined here on a Tuesday night, so it was not a busy place with only a few occupied tables. Staff were attentive and smiley, and they didn't mind my son loitering. The manager was quite friendly too and assisted us to get seated. <br/><br/>We ordered spicy tiger prawns for starter. It had just the right spice for our liking. <br/><br/>My son had kiddie fish n' chips. It had little fish and too much breading.I ordered rib eye steak with Jack Daniel sauce. Steak was well donel as requested, and was juicy and tender. I am not a big fan of red cabbage, so I just hurriedly ate the salad so the bitter taste wouldn't last long in my mouth. My wife ate lamb shank with mashed potato. She said it wasn't bad. Their non-alcoholic cocktails tasted nice too. <br/><br/>We paid $91 after a 20% discount for being a district health board staff. This was a reasonable price in my opinion. <br/><br/>Ambience was quite good with walls decorated with autographed photos of past rugby stars and other notable personalities. Other ornaments give the place a Western/cowboy feel.<br/><br/><br/><br/>
Puti Morehu
the portion size was good however my steak just tasted like it had been drowned in wine a bit of an overkill taste wise as i really love my steak! ordered the ribs they were good but may have been a bit overcooked. the staff were really great.

Had a awesome dinner date yesterday. First time dinning here food was superb drinks yummy meal was spot on Johnny Cash chix breast to die for. Sirloin steak was to small. Overall looked good and tasted good.
Hannh Peters
We joined family for a meal here. Staff friendly enough. Pity about the low lighting theme as hard to read the menu and even harder to see the meal once served. I could have been eating an old boot on the plate as that is what my chicken dish "Johhny Cash Stash" was like. Overcooked from frozen possibly in a microwave are my initial thoughts. I was very hungry so persevered with it. They don't have Guinness on tap at the bar in this eatery so had to settle for an overpriced Macs Black beer ($8). My companion had a rib eye steak which he said was just passable. Won't be going back here.

I love the food, but sometimes the food can be small,  but yeah its wonderful. Definitely recommend coming here. Ribs are delicious but small for children size.

Lone star is a common go to place for big meals at affordable prices. This lone star probably the worst I've been too. Group of 8. Caesar salads over dressed and salty. Lamb meal was tiny for $35- $40 and over cooked. Ribs not tender. Oh and got food poisining from chicken last time too. Really disappointed they need to keep the same standards as New Market.

Lonestar manukau...i love the fresh little loafs with garlic butter...best starter for me. Had the surf n turf, massive plate with I like. Everything to my liking but my pork ribs was so hard to get the meat off☹ though I tough it out on only one rib. Over all I wasn't gonna take it personal as I know we all have our bad days. But I shall return for a better experience.

Came here during an event break for dinner. We weren't starving but was the closest thing we wanted that wasn't fast food. <br/><br/>Service wasn't bad. Pretty much got seated right away. Ordered the rib eye steak and asked for medium rare and they didn't fail. Wasn't dry or dripping with blood. The mushroom sauce was a tad... thick, quite oily and appeared to be separated which wasn't very nice. The chips on the side was delicious but was quite oily also. <br/><br/>The Lone Star loaf which we ordered for an entreé was the best. It's a must when you go into Lone Star. It's soooo soft and is served warmed. Heaven 😌<br/><br/>Overall, the meals were ridiculously ginormous. We were sooooooo full before we were even halfway. Could be because we had a bite to eat prior. But oh my gosh we were so stuffed we couldn't even force ourselves to finish it off (we don't like wasting food) but we really tried 😞

We have just Come from The Lonestar and the MEAL..the Service..Everything about the Restaurant was Tremendous and could not be Faulted in any way

I ordered the lamb Trump and my partner ordered the pork Lassoo Hog and for our starter we ordered a beef and chicken fist of pizza (quesadilla basically). Starter was on point. Enough for two and to tie us over until our mains. Our mains came out in a timely manner. Delicious flavours. In the end; food coma. :-D. Friendly/helpful staff. Much improved from my last visit. Coming back soon

Went here last week , Ordered the Spare Ribs -- Very surprised on how the standard of the meal and add ons have been removed on some Meals !<br/>The STEAK -- I ordered a Sirloin and I asked for a Med to well done and My Friend ordered eye fillet well done .. WELL both orders were mixed up and the cooking was not Med-Well it was rare - Med..They took them away and oh! my steak came back with  the Egg missing and it looked like it had been microwaved !! ALSO the meat was of a lower standard of quality as in Past visits ..and my Friends Salads had been reduced on return.. They took a while to give us a  .. refund but in the end agreed it was necessary sorry but i do not think we will be back
I_like_pickles
Top pick: the coleslaw <br/>I like all the ingredients and the dressing they use for the coleslaw.<br/><br/>The meat, especially the ribs were too dry and tough for my liking. I love eating meat but I would rather just eat the coleslaw here. The meat was really disappointing.<br/>Portions are large, staff are friendly and dining area is spacious and tidy.<br/><br/>
Romer De Mayo
Been here 3 times very accommodating staff. We will definitely come back again. The servings are very big, the ribs is to die for if you want the big one you need to have a big appetite or you will not finish it.

Great food excellent service keep up the good work !!!! <br/>

Boyfriend took me for my birthday and honestly, this place made my day even lovelier than it already was. <br/><br/>Our starter (A FIST FULL OF PIZZA™...QUESADILLA) was lovely, our mains (STAND BY YOUR LAMB and ROCK THE BOAT (MEDIUM)) were lovelier and our mocktail was just.. Perfect.<br/><br/>Thank you for a great night :)

We came here last night and weren't too impressed. We walked in and waited at reception. And waited. And waited. Finally a lady came and asked if we wanted a table? I was going to say no I was happy just to stand there! We were shown a booth. You need to spend some money here Lonestar. The seats were ripped. The speaker above us sounded tinnie. The waitress finally arrived and was very pleasant. I ordered the ribs which the menu says comes with fries. It comes with roasted potatoes? Fries go so much better with ribs especially when we go there for the 4th July! My partner got the chicken..which was cold. He had to eat it with the potatoes(again the menu said fries?) which were extremely hot so that the chicken would taste warm. The service was quite slow...especially from the kitchen. It was a Monday and not packed at all but there didn't seem to be that many staff working. Not sure if its worth a return visit?

I've been to Lone Star Manukau twice this year and both times the food has been tasty, nicely cooked and quick to arrive. But what stuck out the most was our waitress. She looked after us (my elderly grandad, my husband and me) on both occasions and she is an absolute delight! How nice it is to receive such a warm welcome on a miserable rainy night. Grandad in particular appreciates the attentive service with a smile. I wish I knew her name so our compliments could be passed on. (Table 20, 6.45-8pm on 08/06/16).<br/>(I only knocked off half a star because one of our drinks never arrived, otherwise good as gold!)
Dave Koefoed
We went on Saturday night of Queens Birthday weekend. It was very busy. Although you cannot reserve a table you can be put on a priority list, we found a table reasonably quickly so all good there. Wait staff were attentive, but not enough staff working behind the bar to satisfy customers just wanting a drink. Meals are huge, my steak was perfectly cooked, the pork roll, ribs, chicken breast were also very good, not sure what happened with the large wedges you normally get, instead we all got mounds of deep fried potatoes, some were a little over cooked. Will go back agsin

What the hell happened tonight?! The service was just not up to standard at all and the food was mediocre. We ordered ribs to share, no side plates given after we asked & no water bowl to clean our fingers. Our waiter took our order by writing on his hands and then decided that wasnt working so went to get his pad. The wine didnt come until we nearly finished our meal. The waiter then came to ask how we were doing and then said "if you need to get me, grab one of your potatoes and chuck it at me, i'll be over there". Seriously?! Our food came out really quick - like did they know before we even ordered? might explain why the food was barely warm! It takes a lot for me to give such a harsh review but I have to say i never coming back here!
Kim Ormsby
Had a booking, yet when we arrived were told they were behind and wait would be 20mins and we would get priority for having booked, 50 mins later we were seated, the wait staff did apologise, then we didn't get our meals for nearly an hour later, other diners seated after us were given their meals before us, overpriced for what you get, my daughters steak was overcooked, well done instead of medium rare, she was starving so just ate it, sons sauce was wrong so he had to wait longer, my potato fondant was an overcooked potato fritter. They offered free desserts , my chocolate self sauced pudding was dry and there was no sauce! Really disappointing, if it wasn't for the friendly waiter Martin we would have walked out, he was genuinely apologetic for the slack kitchen staff and terrible chef, kind of felt sorry for him. When my daughter paid for the meal the unfriendly sour bar lady could not even ask how our meals were, didn't read out what we had and just said an amount! Shocking! Didn't give us the receipt of what we had to eat, she just wanted us out of there because obviously she wanted to go home, quite rude if her, and also it took nearly 45 mins just to get drinks to our table, sadly we won't be back, the blonde maitre d and Martin were great !, however they also need to sort out the dress code for their staff, one girl wore such short shorts you couldn't help but see her bum cheeks! Very unflattering and put you off eating and there were lots of families with young kids. Not appropriate at all, hope they can improve but I think they will need a miracle!. Meal was not bad but it wasn't good either

Had a great meal tonight. It's been a while since my mum and I had gone out for dinner and were blown away by the service by Violet. She was rushed off her feet but always gave a 100% of herself when checking in on us. Violet was always smiling, and more than accommodating. As for the meal??? Well, tender, juicy, steak...my mum is very particular how it's done. Often sends it back as most places fail her high standards but my mum thought it was done to perfection. My veggie burrito was just as flavour some. Big thumbs up! See you soon Lone Star!!

Man, this place used to be so good. I don't know what happened. Portions remained generous but the taste has degraded. The wait staff over the years have been increasingly un-attentive. The only saving grace is the banoffee pie.
STRADS
It's my first time at Lone Star. Loaf, recommended by those who tried it, was warm & good. I had the "Kiwi Joker" which is Angus rib eye with 2 eggs, chips & coleslaw - steak was very well-cooked. Both Angus Sirloin & pan-fried fish which my friends had, also looked good - however fish still tasted fishy. (Food - 3.5/5; Service - 4/5; Ambience - 3.5/5)

I would not recommend this place. I went in this evening for dinner using a voucher bought online. We ordered the johny cash stash, chicken nibbles and some fish and chips from the kids menu for my kids. I couldn't even finish my meal because the food was bland and a little under cooked, the nibbles tasted worse, the quality of meat did not seem up to restaurant standard. I was super disappointed because I have been to the new market and north shore lone star restaurants which were quiet impressive. Also asked for a high chair for my 1 year old and was told that none was available and that they would bring one as soon as it became available but After finishing my meal while holding a toddler in my arms I saw one available that just had food splatters on it that needed to be cleaned off sitting next to the toilets. The food and the service was definitely not up to scratch, especially for the high cost of the meals there.
Belle T
Been to lonestar a couple of times now and they never disappoint. The food at times can take a long time to come out but is well worth the wait once you've eaten. Be warned food comes in big proportions lol

I love the Lone Star. Always have. Its one of those places where you can go safe in the knowledge that the service will be as good as the food ANYWHERE in the country. <br/><br/>Except Manukau.<br/><br/>I had the dixie chicken. I must have had it a hundred times over the years from Invercargill to the North Shore. God alone knows what went wrong with what they served me. There wasn't much sauce, thankfully because it didn't taste good. The potatoes were well over cooked and dry. Probably prepared an hour or so before. The salad flavorless and almost dry. I had one drink and left. I know that this isn't the standard that you get everywhere else. Please fix it. People who dine here deserve to be part of the legend not served something that would make a Cobb & Co. blush.

Went to lone star in Manukau Jan 2016, the staff are friendly and helpful and they were really efficient with the food and the drinks. unfortunately the portions and quality of the food was really below par. Overcooked steak and really minimal veges, it was really disappointing.!  Especially since we have been to this location a few times and its been amazing. <br/>Wont be going back to this branch in the future.
Donna
Went for dinner & had the most amazing meal & outstanding service by the waitress Alex. As soon as we were seated she was there taking our orders no waiting at all. When we got our food we were regularly checked by Alex to make sure everything was up to standard & yes it was. The meals are huge & definitely well worth it. We are definitely going back at some stage. It's so nice to see that some people love their job thanks for making us feel welcome Alex & a big thankyou to the manager. <br/>
Jesse James .
LoneStar in Manukau has improved a lot since the last time we were here a few years ago.<br/>The food was quick, drinks were regularly checked and it was all round pretty good.
Miss T
Disappointing lack of service. Standards have certainly gone down. Dinner at 7pm with not many people and experienced barely any service. We had to keep getting up to look for a waitress. Food quality has also gone down, pretty bland now. Value for money is not there anymore. This used to be my favourite restaurant. Need to train staff on attentiveness and chef on taste! It was a large serving of tasteless food. Ordered lamb, Dixie chick & quesadilla

Do not buy a coupon from this place before actually reading their valid from date, I've never bought a coupon where it says valid from blah blah blah. So we went in finished our meal got to the cashier and was told the coupon isn't valid until NEXT year end of Jan. So why sell the coupon in the first place? They wrote the "valid from" on the coupon in a small text and hidden, yes you may make more money now by getting people that bought the coupon to come and trick them into paying in full but you have 100% lose a customer(s) lonestar manukau. Food was disgusting. Plan and please this isn't a strip club, get some professional uniform. <br/>

Been here a multitude of times over the past decade so I can definitely say I have a fair idea of what this restaurant is like. The location of this lone star in particular is great for the manukau region! The decor suits the style of food and the menu has a fair selection of different dishes for patrons to chose from. If you like big portions this is the place for you! Every single time I am never able to finish a meal there but that's always better than the other way around ☺️ The staff are completely clueless most times unfortunately though - each time there are multiple questions asked about what we have ordered or what we mean by something, it gets a little tiring and I think this shows a lack of staff training. Food quality is pretty decent, they know how to cook a steak just how you like it! For the price and lack of good service, I wouldn't ever see it as my 'local'
Dana
Had dinner with friends last night here, ordered chicken salad which sounded amazing in words, in reality it was as if someone poured a bag of lettuce on a plate, dropped 3 slithers of yesterday's dried out chicken a fistful of parmesan some anchovies with an over cooked poached egg on top. It was dry, no care taken, I'm paying almost $30 for this salad, I think Wendy's for $6 or $7 gets you a better deal. The staff (girls) extremely young and clumsy, the uniform if that's what you would call it was gross. I don't know if the manager likes shortest shorts but was not appealing, I heard another customer comment eew look at her shorts and then the group laugh. So all in all was a stinky night, won't be back.

Absolutely awesome place! Felt like V.I.P.s! Food was amazing, staff were really lovely and helpful, will definitely be coming back!! Thanks so much to Steve and the staff for the start of a great night out!!! Totally recommend this place!

A totally awsome time & experience 👍🏼😃 right from the get go. <br/><br/>My third time dining at Lonestar Manukau 😃 as always fantastic customer service.<br/>We had a great waitress for the night Olivia, she was very helpful , punctual & had great recommendations on what I should have 😊 I was absolutely satisfied.<br/><br/>I had the mouth watering venison dish with delicious potato BBQ sauce with other sides that Olivia suggested on the special menu, I gotta say 10 / 10😊 everything was cooked nicely to perfection.<br/><br/>Manukau Lone star will definitely be my first choice for another celebration dinner 🎉😃💯<br/><br/>

Have been here with friends a few years ago and service+food was great.  Unfortuanately service has changed substantially.  My husband and I waited for 45mins to be told we'd have to wait a further 20-25min to be seated.  A little perplexed as three couples who arrived after us had been seated before us.  Appeared to be blatant racism (as we were the only islander couple waiting) in conjunction with very poor floor management. <br/>We left at this point so wasn't able to try the food to comment about it. <br/>Will not be returning here again and will definitely be sharing our unfortunate experience with others.

Dined for dinner on a Monday night with my family! Was busy for a Monday too. The friendly staff welcomed us as soon as we entered the doors, we were taken to our table immediately and seated, was then told another waitress will be looking after us and will be over shortly... This is weird cause the first thing I want when I'm seated is a drink. Our waitress then came a few minutes later offered the menus, was also advised of the specials, soups of the day etc and even the wine of the month. We ordered our drinks while deciding on our main, waitress returned the. To advise the wine I ordered (the recommended wine of the month by her!) was not available.. 😤 Setup and theme is very well done. The outback theme was exciting for my son (6yrs old) and the staff even had colouring activity for him. We ordered venison, baby back racks and steak. Our order took at least 20-25mins to arrive which was annoying as other tables arrived after us but meals arrived before ours! Meals finally arrived and they were beautifully presented and absolutely delicious! Even after waiting so long for our mains we ordered dessert pavlova, liqueur cheesecake n white chocolate lava, which arrived faster and was again well presented and divine. <br/>Amazing menu at a hefty price average meals ranged $30-$40 each. And desserts at $15-$25 + drinks.

Love the staff there but really the food is average nd some of the menu is expensive for its price, also get a proper uniform looking like you work at chip munks fml and put some good natural light thru the place looks like someone could b selling drugs in the corner but other than that a good place to go for dinner.

We dined here recently with my cousin for my birthday.<br/><br/>We arrived on a busy Friday night and were promptly given a table. I had a wobbly chair that was quickly replaced.<br/><br/>We were told my a waitress that our waitress was busy but that she would take our order for drinks and starters. We ordered Nachos and wine. The wine was lovely and recommended to us as the wine of the month. The nachos were great.<br/><br/>We were approached by another waitress who took our order for Mains. I ordered the Johnny Cash Stash? Was delicious and I loved the coleslaw. The serving sizes were HUGE so great for anyone with an appetite.  <br/><br/>We only ever met our waitress twice. Once when we she came out with our meals and we had to stop her rushing off to ask for forks and second when she came at the end of our meals to tell us her shift was ending.  We found her service abrupt and felt ignored like she had attended to the other tables next to us more.  We decided to get dessert elsewhere because another waitress (the fourth for the night) cleared our table and never offered us the dessert menu until we stood up to go pay the bill.<br/><br/>Great place with a busy atmosphere, the food was excellent but the service could be a lot better.

Arrived and were quickly seated and served with a smile, ordered and the starter (white loaf to share) was nice and warm and fresh, mains were swift to follow and didn't disappoint, although the chicken dish could have used a little sauce with the roast potatoes - beer and cocktail were all good - the waitress was good upon return and we didn't feel rushed. $78 for the two of us Inc the alcohol, not too bad. We'll return for sure...

The food was great, steak cooked to our liking and plenty of drinks at the bar to keep us happy. When it came time to go home they called us a taxi which didn't turn up, so the owner/manager drove us to our hotel - there is no better service than that! <br/><br/>Thank you for your hospitality and again (second time here) for the awesome dinner.

Lone star was the star of the night, baby back ribs so tender and juice was perfectly cooked, honesty I didn't have any room for dessert, the apple pie was exquisite and it hit the spot. Was a little disappointed with the beer. Speights triple hop would've rounded off a perfect dinner with friends.

Have been here a few times and never have anything negative to say. The staff are always friendly and the service is always prompt. My only niggle is that I wish the meals were slightly smaller. As a lover of food, I hate that I can't eat it all and that there are leftovers. It's such a crime to see a delicious meal half eaten LOLOLOL

Went there a few days ago with some of my friends, the place was busy. Food was okay but pricey. Nothing to fancy just an average place.....I don't think I will return back

I have been here many times before, the first time I absolutely enjoyed, the food was great and the staff were pleasant. So naturally I came again. The most recent time I went, I felt like it was completely under different management. I felt as though the staff did not want to work and waited far too long to order and for my food to arrive. I was quite embarrassed bringing my family there after raving about how good I thought it was especially since after the long wait they didn't particularly like the food either. I think I will be trying a different lone star if I decide to go again.

I visited this restaurant yesterday Friday 22nd, I really was looking forward for it but was highly disappointed. I ordered a mango daiquiri frozen but what I got was something that looked like puree baby food it was not even close to being cold or frozen and tasted artificial. I ignored that hoping dessert will be nice because it sounded great on the menu. Again a big disappointment, I ordered the Jack Daniel chocolate pudding but that was soooooo dry and overcooked that the pudding that hard bits in it. Also my friend's cream brulee had no flavor or a crunchy topping. It doesn't mean that you make the portion big but the quality of the food is so poor. I will be nice to get good food for the price charged, very disappointed don't think I will return back there again.<br/><br/>Thanks

Came here for dinner 4 adults 3 children, made a booking for 5.30 and restaurant was packed, had to wait in bar area until we were shown to table which was nearly inside of the kitchen lol place is to small for amount of customers with barely space to walk. Food was OK but overly priced for portion, had to wait for cutlery so we could eat our meal when it finally came. Waitress done a good job but gave me a fright when she took our order as she had to shout over the noise.... Not a nice dining experience

Came to the lone star manukau for my partners birthday. It was us and our 1 year old daughter, we came on a Friday night and you'd think that they would tell us that there would be a 50 minute wait for the food..! We ordered our meals I got the Dixie chicken meal partner got ribs and we got a bowl of mixed vegetables for DD. Our food came out 50 minutes later.. The bowl of vegetables were completely dry, thy tasted horrible dd would not eat them. I got the chicken dish, there was a tiny bit of chicken and then a whole heap of coleslaw that looked like it came out of a bag chucked on the plate (tasted horrible to). All the meals looked crappy and we didn't leave to long after with our meals basically untouched. I went to the counter and told manager I was not comfortable to pay the whole bill as food was barely touched we had a 50 minute wait etc.. He challenged me on this and after bickering back and forth I said 'the food was crap' he then called me rude and gave us a 7$ discount off our 100$ + bill. I will NEVER eat here again as long as I live. In fact.. My friend had a birthday dinner here and I didn't go simply because of the location.

<br/><br/>Dined here for dinner last night to relieve the craving I've had all week for lamb shank.<br/><br/>We ordered Shank Williams with green salad ($24) instead of their coleslaw and a small rack of Baby Back Ribs on special with potato fries ($23).<br/><br/>Whenever we dine here we feel that the service is usually okay and food average with big portions which is one of the main reasons we go there every now and then. However, that was not the case last night.<br/><br/>Firstly, it seemed that the staff were confused among themselves; we were led to our table by the staff at the counter, a waitress came and took our order, another waitress came and told us that she'll be looking after our table, and once we were done with our meal, a different waitress came to clear our table. Maybe it's how their system is run, but it made us feel as though we were not being properly looked after.<br/><br/>Now back to the food. The lamb wasn't even as tender as they should be, and the amount of mashed potato served with the lamb was seriously lacking. The Baby Back Ribs were alright - nothing fancy. What a big disappointment! I thought Lone Star is known to "provide quality with quantity" which was far from the reality that hit us big time on our face. We've actually asked the waitress about the quantity of each dish before ordering and she was pretty confident that they would be filling. Quality? Could be better, and quantity? Who are we kidding?<br/><br/>We had to come home and cook ourselves a meal to satisfy our hunger after paying $57 from dining out. What a waste of money and time. I usually don't like ranting negatively about a place, but just felt the need to put it out there with an honest review. Not going back to this branch again out of choice for sure.<br/>

Great customer service. Very child friendly. However, the food is disappointing & I wouldn't go back. I ordered the roasted vegetable salad and it was very root vegetable heavy, with an unappealing dressing & the feta cheese was either off, or tasted horrible. Have never tasted feta cheese like that before. <br/>The kids had the chicken nuggets (roadrunner) and burger kids meals. My son didn't eat his burger meal as he said it had no flavour. My daughter left food on her plate also, which is not the norm. The kids didn't like the drinks either, which is very unusual. <br/>The best meal was the roast pork, but even that was ruined with a vinegary taste. A shame as the pork itself was tasty and tender. <br/>The place was quite busy, but I have no idea why. Meals are pricey (especially when you consider the low quality) & it just feels like they are cutting corners & it is reflected in their meals sadly. <br/>

All the meals for our table of 6 were good. The Caesar salad was quite tasty, well dressed and chicken was extra tender, juicy and well-seasoned. It might not be big enough for a mains for a man though. Apache fish was a little dry but the buffalo fries were crispy and yum. Ribeye steak fillet was requested rare but came out medium rare and slightly dry. The Baileys milk shake was scrummy. Overall was okay for a diner style meal. We waited for at least one hour though so would have expected the standard to be a better.

Ribs = gooooooooood.<br/><br/>Marks down are for the environment - the music was too loud, had to shout across the table (although points for the music being in theme). Our waitress was friendly but I think she had too many tables to attend to, so we had to flag her to get her attention a couple of times.<br/><br/>Everyone seemed really happy with their meals though. But be warned: the portions are massive. I got the small stack of ribs and even that was a challenge!
Stuart Burton
Dined here last weekend and had a very negative experience.Waitresses were rude and mixed up our drinks, entree and main orders.<br/>Ambiance was very loud with all diners crammed into half of the building.<br/>As for the food itself I got a steak main. It came with luke warm dried out potatoes which obviously just sit in a warmer until needed, a big slop of Coleslaw and a piece of steak which was half well and half rare. (ordered medium rare) I selected the mushroom sauce with my dish but there didn't seem to be any present, the entire dish was dry and awful. <br/>Reflecting on this all they had to do was cook the steak and then use the pre-prepared sides to complete the meal and they still failed.<br/>Will not be returning, especially with the price tag these awful meals command.
Pennyb
not great. table booking means nothing as we were left standing for a "few minutes" which turned out to be 20 minutes.  Then it took ages to be waited .when we finally got our meals they gave us no utensils so another wait while we tried to get the attention of the  busy waitresses. <br/>It was  a noisy busy environment with waitresses bustling  around and then suddenly reaching over in front of your face to grab am empty glass.. very off putting! <br/>The creme brulee was not a baked custard , tasted like an unset stove top  custard. The rest of the menu items we tried were ok, about average. Not  a patch on the quality we've had at other lonestars. <br/>This is the 3rd or 4th visit but every time we wonder why did we come back.  Probably won't be a 5th visit.

Awesome experience of dining. Arrived around 5.30pm when it was quiet. Excellent service by staff and waitress of the evening including a handwritten note on our bill of thanks. Family friendly. Food was good, not the best I have had but the service definitely made the evening worthwhile. Will be back again.

There were 14 of our family who dined at Lonestar Manukau on 10/03/14 for my dads birthday. Overall the experience was excellent &amp; our waiter Hayden was the best waiter I have come across. He knew the menu &amp; what was in all dishes that people asked about, &amp; when he had completed taking our order, he read each one back &amp; knew exactly who had ordered what. This was an great achievement for the amount of orders he took. Our orders all came out one after another &amp; everything that was ordered was received, &amp; Hayden kept coming back to check on our table to see if we needed anything else. This was the first time for most of us to eat at Lonestar, &amp; we would definately recommend this restaurant to others who want to dine in a large group. My mum &amp; dad who are elderly, had a thoroughly enjoyable time &amp; everyone enjoyed the beautiful food which portion size was great for the boys in our group. Thank you Hayden for organising a Lonestar t-shirt for our dad, we all were impressed with the great service you gave us &amp; your professional &amp; kind nature. Jasmine

Dined at the Manukau Lone Star branch today for my mother's birthday. Service was fine although the one waiter had no idea what the prices were for anything (beverages, kids meals etc.). We did not have to wait long for our meals to be served but my father requested a 'well done' kiwi joker meal and the meat tasted like "charcoal" burnt throughout, he couldn't be bothered having to wait for another to be cooked so he ate off everybody else's meal. Went to pay and saw a big fat D grade framed on the wall.

With the experience I had - I would not return. I would give no star if it was an option! The Manukau branch needs to step up in service and wait time to be on par with Newmarket.<br/><br/>Food is consistent in flavour but was only warm and wait time could be improved - we waited 45mins for our meal for lunch and it wasn't that busy as we were one of the first in. Our server was too busy clearing tables - she made eye contact with me but decided to finish clearing before serving me - when she did, she didn't know what flavour teas they had, she asked at the bar, came back and couldn't remember what they were. <br/><br/>I was using a deal voucher and had a made a booking over the phone and agreed with them I could use two vouchers (as vouchers were due to expire and LoneStar stopped lunch service after Xmas so I had less time to use them). Although I knew vouchers normally are one per table, the staff member said it was at their discretion and would put a note on my booking to say it had been agreed. Well...I am sure you will guess what came next....the manager on duty said he wouldn't honour the voucher as terms are clearly listed even though I had pre-organized it. He was arrogant to the point of refusing to look at the appt book to check if there was a note. We had words and I ended up getting my way after a bit of time, but ultimately I shouldn't have been put in that position. If I was told over the phone I couldn't use, I would have just went two days in a row. Disappointing as I had exceptional service for dinner a couple years ago.

Dined here with a voucher the other night and it was a far more positive experience than some recent reviews. We were seated immediately and the waitress took our order promptly, my cocktail took awhile to arrive but they may have remade it. Normal restaurant wait and when the food arrived everything was good, we ordered a chicken dish and steak. The portions did seem smaller than previous Lone Star's I've been to but it was perfect for a small eater like myself, I just wouldn't want to pay full price for the food on offer. We finished off with the chocolate mud cake which was great. The D grade food rating is slightly off putting but no ill effects were felt.

Really not sure what happened to this place since the last time I came early 2013 - less than 1 year ago - where we received notably great service and great food!<br/>The service was not too bad, it just wasn't quite at the standard it was the last time but the food was just terrible! I ordered the Caesar Salad and my partner ordered the Salmon.<br/>The salad was underdressed and the poached egg was far beyond being overcooked - the yolk could have easily knocked someone out! The salmon was also disappointing and expensive at $32! We have had much better salmon than what we received at other restaurants for a fraction of the price...<br/>From reading the other reviews, they won't be around for much longer if they don't improve their standards!<br/>Overpriced, over promised and under delivered. Not impressed. This will very likely be the last visit we make if we can help it.

Another very disappointing review for Manukau Lone Star. I have tried out other Lone Star restaurants in Auckland and have enjoyed my experience there with great atmosphere and meals. Sad to say this place was lacking. First impressions is that the place is full a little bit rowdy so I took that as a good sign of things to come.. Took a little while for the food to come but that was forgiven as the place was packed and you could see the chefs working hard. Now with the other lone stars the food is always the same so you always know what your getting. I ordered my usual dicksy chicken and I could tell from the first bite that it wasn't right. It tasted foul couldn't put my finger on it but it wasn't right! Had a sore tummy after eating here that's a definite warning to the standards of quality going on here. Not surprised though seems to be the trend for Manukau restaurants, charge full price and leave with a colon cleanse.

Have been to LoneStar plenty of times and everything is normally above standard. However, I will not be returning to the Lone Star Manukau restaurant. We were welcomed with a D rating, unfortunately we had a deal voucher so we had to eat at that restaurant. Decided to eat in the bar area. <br/><br/>After 15min of ordering I had to ask them for our drinks, despite only being a few of us in the bar and the two staff behind the bar were drying glasses. So they were not busy. Ordered 2 entrees and chips with a side of Dixie chicken sauce. Half of the food came 5-10min after the first lot came out so by the time we ate it, it wasn't very hot. Had to ask for plates and cutlery! We are at a restaurant, shouldn't have to do that!<br/><br/>Part of our food was burnt, an the Dixie chicken sauce had split so it didn't taste very nice. Definitely won't be going there again!!

Well where do I start, have literally got home from a 2hour wait for food to find out the waitress hadn't even put in our order!<br/><br/>Night started out bad, firstly a wait for 20 odd mins for a seat for 2 when there were empty tables,<br/>2ndly placed at table and then had to wait for another 15mins just to order, waitress didn't introduce her self or explain specials. <br/>We ordered our meals and drinks and the wait began.....<br/>We found it odd we hadn't received our drinks but it was rather busy so we were being paitent.<br/>After 1 and half hour wait which during this time we tried to get waitresses attention, we finally get the attention of one, I ask how long our meals will be and then find out the order wasnt put through.<br/><br/>Waitress came and did apologies And said its on the house and that 2mediums would be coming out next! 2 mediums? We didn't even order 2 mediums! Then she said it would be the next order, well we waited another 20-30mins! Just shocking<br/><br/>The plus side is we didn't pay for our meals, but the rudeness of staff and the approach to customers was terrible. Is there any training for staff on customer service? We were literally falling asleep and still no one came over to check on us, I mean surely you would notice when a table has been sitting there for ages and still hasn't eaten!<br/><br/>I think lonestar manukau need to review this and make some serious changes to staff and learn what SERVICE is.<br/><br/>I will not be eating there again, or recommending it to anyone! It's a shame because if service was better and the staff took pride in themselves and their job then. I may reconsider.<br/><br/>Very disapointed!!<br/><br/>Peeved off

My family and I arrived around 12.30pm on a Sunday for lunch. We had one of those deal vouchers to use up. The place was almost empty. Half of our group was in the bar waiting for us before we headed to our table. We went to order some drinks, only to discover that they were out of so many items on their drinks menu. Strike One. I ended up ordering an L&amp;P (I don't like L&amp;P) because it seemed to be the only non-alcoholic drink available. My dad wanted a beer but their beer taps weren't working. Anyway, we ended up going through to our table. We were given menus, but were not read the specials, nor did our waitress introduce herself. She then came back with 6 sets of cutlery. There were 7 of us in the group. The cutlery was dumped in front of myself and my dad on a plate, and we had to distribute the cutlery ourselves.<br/><br/>When it came to ordering our meals, we made sure to pick out three choices. They seemed to be out of so many tings that we thought it was best to pick two back up choices in case they didn't have what we wanted. Luckily, they had everything on the menu.<br/><br/>Unfortunately, we ended up waiting just over 40 minutes for our food to arrive. We were STARVING.<br/><br/>So we ate our lunch, but I could not finish mine. I ordered Nachos with Chicken. The nacho chips were either extremely soggy or burnt, and at the bottom of the bowl was a whole lot of water and oil floating around. Also, there were supposed to be Jalapenos in the Nachos, but neither I nor my dad got any with our nachos. Instead, I had carrot in mine - that was definitely not on the menu!<br/><br/>My Aunty ordered the wrap, which was supposed to come with Chicken and Bacon. Well, there was chicken but NO BACON.<br/><br/>We weren't the only ones dissatisfied with our meal. Another customer went up to the counter to complain about the chicken she had ordered (we were sitting near the cash register counter). When we left, the chicken was still sitting on the bench. Not one staff member had the decency to clean it up.<br/><br/>The service was also terrible. The staff had no manners, for starters. And they weren't exactly dressed for work either, with one waitress wearing yellow booty shorts and sneakers, and another wearing a mini skirt.<br/><br/>When we went up to pay for our meal, there was no staff member their, nor could we see one anywhere else in the restaurant. We could have walked out without paying for our meal, and no one would have noticed. In hindsight, I wish we had walked out without paying. The prices were atrocious. Even with our GrabOne voucher, the total still came to over $100. For such a horrendous dining experience, it should have been about $80, and even that's a bit pricey.<br/><br/>We also met another dissatisfied customer at the counter while we were waiting to pay. She had been standing there for a while, and no one had even come to take their order. I felt like telling her to run as far away as she could, because the Lone Star Manukau was such a horrible place to eat.<br/><br/>Also, after seeing the staff leave the chicken sitting out uncovered for almost an hour, I felt sick to my stomach. I had just had chicken nachos. If I get food poisoning, I know who to blame.<br/><br/>We ended up going to another cafe in Takanini for some decent food and drink afterwards.<br/><br/>I will never eat at Lone Star Manukau again.<br/><br/>*EDIT: The restaurant was also dark and poorly lit. We could hardly see what we were eating.*

Very bad experience tonight. We got to Lone Star at 7 and were seated and given menus. The waitress introduced herself and offered to read out the specials.<br/>That's when everything went downhill. She took our orders and only one of us got to order a drink before she told us she would take our drink orders after our meal ones. She brought the one drink order to the table and never came back for our drink orders and began serving other customers. It took us 10 minutes to be able to flag her down again and when we did she walked away halfway through my sentence and didn't even ask the last person on the table for their order! She came back another 10 minutes later with a now cold hot chocolate( which had been sitting on the counter) in which we finally got to place our ast drink order. The hot chocolate was less than presentable and very bland in taste. We waited another 20 minutes before our food arrived with mine missing. After 5 minutes of waiting I flagged her down in which she very abruptly told me 'it was on its way'. Any food industry knows that all food should be delivered at once! It took about 10 minutes for my meal to turn up at which point the group were all halfway through their meals. Meals were okay, quite overpriced for what they were. Very bad experience, worst service ever which is disappointing for Lone Star, will only return if a lot of things change!
Darryl
Worst dining experience I have had for a long time. 7pm on a Monday night, not very busy but put at table right in front of Kitchen. Big mistake, because I could witness the lack of passion and skill shown by the kitchen and waiting staff.<br/><br/>Firstly ran out of two types of beer I had ordered. My partners main meal arrived at least 10 minutes before mine did......then my desert arrived at least 10 minutes before hers did, and she only ordered two scoops of ice cream!!!!<br/><br/>Will not be returning.....

For a restaurant who is supposedly family friendly they have no idea! We arrived just before the restaurant opened at 5.30 so we took our group of 5 under 4 yrs into the bar perused the menu so we could order as soon as they opened. Placed our order just after5.30 and specifically mentioned to make sure kids meals first. It then took 45mins and the adults meals arrived first followed by kids. The kids just ordered fish/chips so should have taken no time but they obviously didn't cook them till adults meals were ready as they were piping hot. Kids were over it and not happy by this point. Very unimpressed - don't bother with this branch with young kids

Think it is worse than the last time I was there. We were seated near the door in a table that should never have been placed in such a horrible position, draughty and poking out, not conducive to a pricey restaurant. The place was so noisy the waitress had to shout. Staff could do with being outfitted by someone with some dress sense so they didn't look so scruffy.<br/><br/>Extremely overpriced for the food served, I suppose the only thing in its favour was large meals, although not great quality.. Won't give it another chance.

Avoid this place at all cost unless you want a very unpleasant evening!!<br/><br/>Here are the main points:<br/><br/>1. We were kept waiting for over 2 hrs in spite of making a reservation<br/><br/>2. The food was cold and below average for the price<br/><br/>3. Drinks were spilt on us and an apology and a remedy only came after we demanded one.<br/><br/>4. An expensive jacket was drenched and no attempt was made to cover the dry cleaning cost<br/><br/>5. The attitude of the manager in particular was shocking, to say the least. She showed little to no understanding of customer service and should not be in the hospitality industry.

My partner and I have been to almost all of the Loan Stars in New Zealand, and this Loan Star would have to be the worst. Their service is shocking.<br/><br/>When we arrived the waitress leaded us to a booth, but it wasn't cleared so she told us to go to the bar and wait till it was cleared.<br/><br/>We noticed another couple come in and they were lead to a table, so we went up to the reception to ask if we could be seated. I had finished my cocktail by then and my partner almost finished his drink. We were given menus and then she walked away. She didn't introduce herself or tell us her name, didn't ask if we wanted another round of drinks, and didn't relay the specials.<br/><br/>We waited about 30 minutes to be served after waitresses walked past us numerous times. We were offered drinks on the house for their stuff up. I ordered the lamb shank on mash and my partner the Dixi Chicken, and a Loan Star loaf for starters.<br/><br/>15 minutes later and still no drinks, but we were served ribs that we didn't order. She took them back to the kitchen and came back to say they were on the house. <br/><br/>Another 15 minutes later the nameless waitress came back to the table and told me they had no mash, so instead I had to ask for fries, which takes the whole experience away from a lamb shank on mash, but thank god our drinks had arrived now.<br/><br/>A different waitress this time came to our table with my partners meal only and placed it in front of him. We hadn't been served our starter loaf we told her, so she went back again. The first nameless waitress was back with my meal and offered the loaf to be on the house. We told her we would just like our meals, forget the loaf.<br/><br/>Our meals were the only good thing about the night, so we finished them and waited for the bill....and waited...and waited...<br/><br/>We walked to the counter to pay and noticed half of the staff had finished their shifts, and they were eating in a booth.<br/><br/>How this place is still running I do not know!

I usually LOVE the Lone Star franchise &amp; have been to them up and down the country. We just happened to be in Manukau and despite hearing negative reviews we stopped by last night.<br/><br/>Regrettably.<br/><br/>For starters we ordered salt &amp; pepper squid. You should have seen our faces when the dish came. The TOTAL squid portion would have easily fit in the palm of my hand with room to spare - all for the excellent price of $15. But that was okay because some leaves were thrown in to make up for it.<br/><br/>My partner ordered ribs &amp; found them to be dry &amp; dissatisfying. My steak was rather nice actually. The buffalo chips however were weirdly cooked, almost as if they'd been cooked at an earlier time and were kept in low heat over a long period as the skin was tough and dry. The coleslaw was nice though.<br/><br/>Our bill altogether came to $87. I did not feel like the meal was worth even half what we paid. If you're considering dining here, I wholeheartedly recommend you NOT. You'll get better food a few stores down at Domino's.

I normally eat at the Newmarket Lonestar and LOVE it! However, the last 2 times I have eaten at Lonestar Manukau. It is not the same restaurant at all! <br/>1) were out of ribs. (happened both times)<br/>2) poor service - had to flag down staff for every request. It was not busy. Arrived at 5:30 on a Monday night.<br/>3) my chicken nibbles were bloody. The table next to our had the same problem.<br/><br/>Really disappointed and won't return!

The staff were friendly but I have to say Lone Star has sure gone down hill over the past few years. The food was OK, all a bit flavourless and bland, and the cheesecake overly sweet. Overall, a nice night with good atmosphere but I probably won't be returning to Lone Star again for a while.

Ate here last night and it was a really good experience. All the staff we encountered were happy, polite, friendly and knowledgeable. Because the meals coming out from the kitchen appeared to be huge, we ordered a plate of nachos between us and also decided to share the Dixie Chicken dish. The staff offered the extra plates without prompting. The food arrived quickly, was delicious and plentiful. We took a doggie bag home!

really looked forward to going last night - quite disappointed - menu very limited - not a burger in sight. Meal portions smaller than used to be, nowhere near as much choice and my Jonny Cash chicken was overloaded in sauce to the point i couldn't taste the chicken. Chips were too hard - would not suit an elderly person at all. husband's spare ribs, while many (9), were not as tasty as used to be. We only waited 5mins for mains - too quick to be able to relax and enjoy the wait.<br/>A shame as used to always be impressed, but will not make the effort to travel there again - as we do have to travel.<br/>Also - PLEASE turn the music down - a noisy place at the best of times - doesn't need loud music as well - cant talk pleasantly.<br/>Value for money? No
