Very beautiful and a great place to have breakfast, lunch or a brunch. They are doing breakfast 🍳 menu too. A great outdoor sitting 🪑 with a classy view all over the Auckland 🌊 🏝️ Exactly the beach front cafe and if you sit outside it’s another level happiness 😍 Have tried their cajun chicken burger which is delicious and especially the bun of the burger is another level 😋 Lots of options for yum 😋 food and also for beverages too. They also have Movenpick 🍦with them so you can enjoy both under one roof!! Would definitely recommend.

Top spot! Great coffee and super friendly welcoming staff. Take your time and soak up the local artwork on display too.

Stunning view to grab a brew

Local and lekker. Beautiful setting and friendly staff. Tea serviced in a pot and not in a cup. (This keep the wife happy so deserved the 4th star!)

Service is kind, the store is a history lesson, but the food is something else come here with my family and they never fail to impress me and they remember customers and always helpful to all walks.

Lovely little cafe overviewing the beach. Great coffee and the cafe manager Sanik was so friendly and helpful. Must try dish is the Fish of the day. Fresh fish and crispy fries. Very much recommended!

Last weekend my wife and I got two very nice iced coffees and a delicious almond croissant takeaway then drove 2 minutes further along the coast away from the crowds sat looking at this beautiful view and drank or coffee. It was a very memorable moment.

Absolutely stunning views with food at excellent value. Simple but well cooked & presented. Nice to find a cafe that gives honest value for money.

Cute little cafe across from the beach! Also liked their sign regarding being short staffed, and be kind to those who did show up.

Although I haven't tried their food I've been here two days in a row for coffee and there are always customers out the front from the minute it opens. The staff are also super friendly 😁

Lovely setting right on the waterfront, the service was excellent, the coffee was really good, unfortunately, the cafe seemed a bit dirty and the food was ok, so a lttle disappointing

Terrible service, we weren’t even acknowledged upon entering (we were only after ice creams) the guy behind the counter didn’t even say boo, after payment he walked off. We will not be returning here, not even to use the rubbish bin, which was apparently where their manners had gone

This has to be one of my favourite Auckland beaches - particularly during the week when it is less crowded.I'm surprised there aren't more cafes & restaurants here looking onto the beach, but then that's a plus - nice to have that small village feel. Grabbed a seat outside at this cafe - yip you can't beat that view!
I hadn't eaten here before - only had coffees or ice cream, but on a nice day thought I'd try their lunch menu.
Greeted warmly I asked about the fish of the day - snapper with a choice of whether it was fried or grilled. I chose grilled. Food arrived quickly - fish appeared fresh & was nicely caramelised without being overcooked.
Salad was basic but very tasty with a vinegarette. Chips - large portion & again well cooked.
They don't have a large menu but there are some good cabinet items to choose from. The cafe was busy with regulars from workmen to retired locals - always a good sign.
Will be back next time I'm in the area.

New owners no idea on how to run a cafe at all. Hopefully someone who is interested running such an important part of history will take it over soon. Ps The old owners were great.

This cafe is located in such a beautiful place, overlooking maraetai beach. The food was alright, not a lot of choice on the menu. I settled for the omelette which was alright but it was huge so it did fill me up and the berry smoothie was a bit sweet for me. It wasn't too bad but nothing amazing in my opinion.

Cat food.. (seagulls enjoyed it..those that stomach loads of salt). "large" order of chips (thankfully we didn't order a small order of there would have been little to eat for $17!). The "fish"...crumbed hoki.. was mostly SALT! So much so even the seagulls turned their noses up at it. Ate half the fish and started to gag on the salt. In fact, as we opened the rolled up order, salt was POURING OUT!. 2007 we went to the fish and chip shop there and had a very nice fish and chips so were looking forward to a pleasant day out at Maraetai again but noticed the fish shop is now part of the cafe next door (sold out?). I would NOT recommend this place for fish and chips unless your arteries are in need of some hardening! Next trip? We will bring our own food.

Looks good on the outside, but the service was crap- waited ages to be served. Coffee average and smoothies packed with fake syrup. Won't be back.

You can't expect the only cafe around to be good.

Service was okay but we got served after people who ordered the same stuff got served. Food was over priced for what it was. I am a connoisseur of eggs bene, and it wasn't worth the money..
Nikki
The Service was friendly, good space for kids, coffee very average not a lot of choice for coffee in Maraetai. Auckland needs a influx of Wellington hipster baristas, stat.

I've been here several times, each time with friendly service at the till and wonderful coffee. Each time I have ordered the Eggs Benedict with Mushrooms and it is always well presented and tastes great. Really good serving of mushrooms too. I'll definitely be back again.

Went to maraetai yesterday. Ordered takeaway fish and chips- was definitely the worst we have ever eaten!! Fish was so over cooked that it was not edible.
Besides the inconsistent furnishings with its theme, the young counter staff were confusing us and being rude by clarifying that there were 3 topping options for the omelette but when the menu only indicated two?? Firstly, she is very inexperienced by making her guests feels uncomfortable with the whole 'ah duh' attitude and made contact with the next person in queue as if we're a joke. Secondly obviously she doesn't actually know her menu and our order came after nearly everyone came after us. Bearing in mind the house is not packed at all.

These were our orders..
» Latte
» Soy latte
» Omelette with toast, topping options - smoked chicken and cheese.
» Omelette with toast, topping options - smoked chicken, cheese and tomatoes.

Another young staff served us the latte after he searched each table before arriving to us (even though we were given a table number). When the coffee finally arrived to our table, he didn't indicate which latte is soy even when we've asked..luckily the barrister came over to clear things up. The flies started to voom in to our table as soon as the coffee landed at our table, I highly recommend them to work on their flies issue and the smell of their toilets slowly leaped out to the dining area.

After a long wait and a bit of a follow up, our brunch has now turned into lunch. Once again, the staff failed to identify the order at our table. Most importantly we've noticed that our reading of the menu were correct, it was the counter staff who were confused.

Anyhow, the presentation looked appetizing. As I looked closer, the omelette looked rather unusual, the eggs were as thicker than the brown toast (by the way I was not given the choice of bread). My first hungry bite after the long wait were so disappointing! Bland, effortless ingredients by using processed smoked chicken like the one you'll find next to the shaved ham at the supermarket. I was expecting a little more for the price they charged us. It's ironic they've garnished the plate with herb and sprouts but they didn't season the food.

After I well used their condiments, I only managed to achieve one third of my plate and left unsatisfied. It's been awhile since I had such unpleasant experience from a cafe.

I've been to many rural cafes with a much smaller population, their food would gravitized me to return even though they're so remote. If I ever take another trip out this way, I'll give your neighbouring cafe Bach'n a go!

What a tragic way to start my day..at least my day will only get better.

This used to be a great cafe with a large menu. This visit the food quality was much lower and the menu was tiny. I asked one of the staff members if anything had changed and they explained the menu changed with new owners. No longer one of my recommended cafes.

Best coffee in Auckland. Staff are excellent, location stunning.
I love great coffee, I am picky but this coffee is as good as it gets.

The fish and chips was below standard . The fish batter was half raw tasting like flour and water and and much to our disgust it was drenched with oil . The size of the actual fish fillet was much smaller encased in a huge batter . Because of the oil we could not even finish the second fish that came in the meal. We also found the cafe attendant a bit less interested in their work. Only one of them was nice and friendly (there were no name badges to identify them . The view was no doubt priceless but I was totally dissapointed with the meal and the service.sorry guys aint coming back there

We went here for brunch this morning (Wednesday). The staff were friendly and attentive, my omelet was great, but unfortunately the "mince" for the mince on toast, was sloppy (had to be served in a small bowl), tasteless and looked unappetising. The side of mushrooms were "gloppy" and floating with oil as the cream and the oil had separated (and probably shouldn't have been served).
As a general note, it should be the responsibility of staff to do what they can to keep the other patrons "nice". Two women arrived with 3 dogs (there was a nice dog tie-up area to the side of the cafe with a table nearby). Finding that they were going to not use the tie up area and put the dogs under this table, we moved from the adjacent table we had selected (which was more central) to another table (The dog ladies were loud too). They then moved to our vacated table, with their dogs, so the dogs were in the central outdoor dining area. The staff should have asked them to use the tie up area and the table adjacent to this.

The worst milkshake I have ever had!!!
For $4.80 I expected at least a little ice-cream with the milkshake but instead I got barely chilled milk with a little syrup and barely mixed. There was no froth and air at all, it tasted like lightly flavored milk not a shake! I realise a thick-shake is different but 99% of places I buy milkshakes from still add some ice-cream. This was overpriced and bad. I was very disappointed.

Lovely view but pity about the really poor quality food. Old salad without dressing, tasteless fish, to be frank I can't remember the last time we had such bad food in Auckland.
Bernard
What an amazing location for a cafe! The coffee is fantastic and so is the service!

I visited this place recently with my girlfriend, it wasn't that busy so I would have expected a bit more customer service than we got. We was greeted with grumpy faces and I had to interrupt the young waitresses chit chat while another played on her iPhone to ask for the menu. We was left to find our own seats and had to ask repeatedly for sources and other basic stuff. The food was ok but the service was appalling. We both agreed that we would walk 2 minutes to the other cafe if we visit again. Having read other people's reviews in here I'd question if they are even valid, the food was average at best. If you don't believe me go check it out then compare it to another place.

I brought my boyfriend here for breakfast on his birthday, this place is lovely! We sat by the window and the views were stunning. The food was really nice too. I would happily recommend this place and I would love to go back someday.

We have eaten here 3x a friend who is well travelled and eats all over the globe rated it as high as I did..we had a winter morning brunch here. Devine breakfast friendly staff and a gorgeous romantic peacefull view.

We went for Mothers day, and Mother was pleased!
Sat inside at the window. Fantastic location, and we rate the food as a 5/5. Coffee, hmmmmm go JUST for the coffee, you won't be disappointed.
Oh, one more thing, the music was low and added to the great atmosphere.

Came across this lovely cafe when driving round. Wonderful latte and the most amazing Blueberry Marscapone Cheesecake I've ever tasted. Very friendly, helpful staff and wonderful service. Will definately go again and tell friends about it. Would so love the recipe of this delicious Blueberry Marscapone Cheesecake... Please......

Lovely atmosphere and views, great hot chocolate and good kids play area. Will visit again!

I took my mother, grandmother and others to this cafe for Mothers Day but unfortunately the customer service was non existent, I was very disappointed as we had travelled a long distance to come here.

The food however was good, but would not recommend the fruit salad as it wasn't a fruit salad, too small and not worth the money. Also they advertised Chowder but it turned out to be soup of the day which was pumpkin, what a let down.

This will be the first and last time I ever come to this cafe.

I enjoyed a Fathers Day brunch at the Wharf Cafe Maraetai. The food was excellent with a great selection of favourites including some unusual ones, all served in a beautiful setting overlooking the sea with friendly and helpful service. My Fathers Day choice of Liver and Bacon was flavoursome, perfectly cooked and served with potatoes and some good sparkling 'hop' juice - after all it was Fathers day! My family will return.
Thanks very much.

The Wharf is a brilliant cafe, the ambience is warm and friendly with enough seating and space to feel as though you don't have to whisper! Of course the view is spectacular. The food choice and quality is excellent and it is great to have gluten free choices.

The staff/owners are very friendly and went out of their way to show our little girls how to create the pretty patterns on top of the hot chocolate.

Definitely recommend....thank you.

My partner and i were lucky enough to stop at Maraetai Wharf Store for a coffee and Cake. The Coffees were perfect not to milky not to strong or weak. We decided to share the slices of Cake as we did not want to miss out on something mouthwatering and they both looked sinful..I would Strongly suggest anyone driving by stop immediately it is worth the stop and if you need sweetening up then this is the stop...10/10 better then many cafes i have been to in some Cafes including Kingsland and Auckland City central..
