Review Chinoiserie - Manukau

Cosy little place with delicious food and nice ambience. We ordered the karaage bao, snapper wings and loaded fries, it was amazzzzzing. Excellent customer service, we will definitely be back to try more things from the menu. Oh and if you like spicy, ask for their spicy sauce. It will blow your mind.

We dined in at Chinoiserie Bar & Restaurant in Manukau after much anticipation since discovering this eatery opened up in South Auckland from its sister restaurant in Mt Albert. The staff was excellent, very engaging and friendly and menu knowledgeable. Our choices included loaded fries with bacon bits, fried shallots, coriander, aioli and chilli, a coconut crumbed squid gua bao, gong gong noodles, snapper wings and vermicelli salad. Our dishes were lovely especially with several sides of the chilli hot sauce! For dessert, I tried the lolo bao which was like a coconut doughnut served with toasted coconut flakes and salted caramel sauce. This was amazing! Highly recommended!

Pork belly bao was delicious, this is a braised pork belly so the fat was not crispy which would have really made this dish. Got the loaded fries on the side but was not fussed on these and the popcorn chicken. My friend got the chicken bao and said it was awesome. Great service.

Chinoiserie Manukau is one of our most favourite hang out spots. The atmosphere is so chill, Love the music, Love the staff, Love the food. Pulled in my sisters, their boyfriends and the rest of the fam to enjoy the food as well. We have so many favourites but we normally order the Pork Bao, Loaded Fries, Deep fried Tofu and Gong Gong Noodles. Super love their Home made Iced Tea as well. We are so happy that there is a nice range of food available that even our vegan friend can sit down, dine with us and have a scrumptious meal. Will always come back here!

Stopped for a quick bite and a cold drink. We were welcomed at the door by a very friendly young lady, seated at a high table on stools and right by a heater. Cold night. All staff happy and friendly. Japanese theme, food was great, Ashai beer cold. Cost very reasonable. Try it for a casual meal! You will not be disappointed.

We came by for dinner and ordered a few things to share. They have a decently sized food and drink menu.
Out of all the items on the menu, the snapper wings were something that looked interesting. We tried it out of curiosity but it was one of the best things there. The nicely fried wings were covered in a tasty sauce. The meat was quite juicy and tender and had a nice contrast to the crispy fried fins. We had actually tried a few time to get them again but they were usually sold out.
The other items like the ribs were also tasty but the wings got us hooked.
They are fairly large with indoor and outdoor dining areas but possibly more indoor as it gets colder. The staff are friendly and the place has a couple of sparkly dragons that light up.

We came at happy hour and the cocktail was so refreshing. The chicken bao was delish too. It's also dog friendly so we will definitely be back with our pups in tow. Great quick service too

Dined here recently for a second time because of how good my first experience was. Ordered a chicken gao bao along with pork ribs, snapper wings and fries as sides. Unfortunately this time round of dining here was not as impressive as the first time. The pork spare ribs were a smaller portion and wasn’t as flavoursome as I had remembered (reason why I had ordered them again) and the chicken in the gao bao was over cooked which kind of ruined the bun in general because of the extra effort needed to pull the chicken apart. I do however appreciate the bold decoration of the restaurant. Overall, the experience wasn’t bad but not great; not a third time visit worthy.

My sister & I came here to check it out and we were blown away... i ordered the tofu bao and it was delicious. My sister ordered the chicken bao and said the chicken was crispy on the outside and succulent on the inside. The mayo was yummy & rich but not too over bearing - the salad & ginger complimented it very well. The loaded fries were very delicious, the sauce was the best! The tofu (t-side) was amazing. Overall great place to chill and eat - not to mention the price was very reasonable.

Food: 5/5
Ambience: 5/5
Staff: 5/5 - warm & friendly

Amazing food!! Tentative and friendly service. Went here with about 9 others and everyone had only good things to say about the food. Extra bonus is the creative decor.

Great environment for all, good service from the team from the moment I entered. The wait on food is not long. Portions are generous, flavorful and presented well. Will return for Tofu Bao, would have to pass on the noodles. Overall a nice venue for lunch with friends and family.

Popcorn chicken, Chicken Bao and the loaded fries (special) are top dishes at this Asian fusion joint and I’d suggest giving them a try! We dined in here for lunch and the staff were friendly and attentive. The decor is bright and fun with lots of character. Our waitress explained the menu and how things worked with portions sizes and sharing options. Once our food arrived we were pleased with our order. The popcorn chicken was delicious and a generous portion for a side! The loaded fries topped with pork crackling, Mayo, spring onion and saffron threads was really yum. The chicken bao was tender and juicy! Just the right amount of crunch and finished off with a decent amount of mayo. Only disappointment we had was no crispy skin on the Pork belly bao’s and a lack of sauce.

This place is BOMB. Super consistent, always yum. Favourites include the coconut squid bao, loaded fries and popcorn chicken. I come here at least once a fortnight.

Came in for a nosey. Actually really nice place very hospitable staff checking in during and after how we liked our meals. Ordered the pork bao, vermicelli salad & green tea. Husband ordered the loaded fries, bong bong noodles and Pork bao too. Though the prices are a bit high it makes up for the friendly quick service, ambience/music and freshness/quality of the food. Would highly recommend to others to check this place out.

Went here for lunch and the food was delicious. The service was also very warm and friendly and the atmosphere was terrific, made us feel like we were overseas and the music was good to listen too while we were waiting. They even allowed us to customise my Bao, some restaurants are a fussy to customise menus to your liking! Loved the loaded fries and the baos! There sauces are delish.
Definitely will be coming back 😄😄

Enjoyed our family lunch here. Place is full of vibrant colours with a very chill vibe. The food was also very good and tasty. We ordered each a Bao and added sides to pick at it. Good price for great food and the service was superb. Making this a regular spot.

I heard about this restaurant from a friend who went to the original location. Upon walking in we were greeted instantly with a friendly service, i liked how they also asked us if it was our first time dining here. They went through the menu going into detail telling us what everything were. The knowledge of the menu is really good.
First thing i noticed was the cups and plates, they were really lovely and takes you back being in a Asian street food vendor, was really rustic.
We ordered the pork belly baos, pork ribs, slaw and the sticky black rice. The pork belly baos were incredible. The pork belly was incredibly juicy and meaty, complimented by the crushed nuts and the lovely light bao bun.
The pork ribs just fell off the bone, i expected a more sour black bean flavour but it was slightly sweet which played off the meat so well. The slaw we had really cut through the fat and meatiness and made us keep going back to the ribs. Definitely recommend this when coming here.
For dessert the sticky black rice with coconut cream and what i think was toasted coconut shavings was really scrumptious. It wasn't overwhelmingly sweet and was a nice finish to the meal.
Overall i really enjoyed the experience, the feel of the restaurant makes you think you're in a restaurant in a busy Asian city. The food was top notch and service was really quick and attentive.
Manukau definitely needs a restaurant like this to bring the bar up from the sub par food that is currently there, i hope it stays here for a long time and i hope the level of service and quality of food stays the same because i will definitely be going back!

Chinoiserie opened just a few weeks ago, really excited that new restaurants are opening up in Manukau!

Ordered the pork belly bao, squid bao, edamame beans, taro chips and ribs. . .

Let me start by saying, if you’re a lover of meat you definitely need to give the pork belly ribs a try! Beautifully soft and fall of the bone ribs, flavoured really well. . I’m drooling just thinking about it 🤤
The squid bao is complimented very well with pickled veges Asian styled.

Edamame beans and taro chips were pretty standard.

Enjoyed what we ordered and excited to have a new place in Manukau!
Recommend this place for a bite to eat ☺️

Great new spot in Manukau. I saw it come up on my Facebook feed so thought it's worth a visit. Restaurant like this is hard to come by in Manukau area. We were greeted by a lovely young lady and seated at one of the high tables. She was free really good at describing the specials of the day. The menu looked simple but straight to the point. Sides are big enough to share between 2 people and the Baos were amazing. Reasonably priced items.

We ordered the loaded fries and popcorn chicken. They were huge servings and really yum. Will definitely come back to try out their other dish.

So happy they opened another branch closer to home! Looks almost the same as the Mt Albert one, but definitely more room here for slightly larger groups. Great vibe, great service and great food. I've been here three times already in a month, no regrets

Lunch specials are definitely a must have. Thoroughly enjoyed the loaded pork fries, pork bun and ribs. Very tasty. Lovely service. Great ambience. Would love to go back and try rest of the menu.

It's nice for the popular restaurants like Chinoiserie to open a branch in South Auckland. They make it easier for people like me to try their food minus the hassle of battling the traffic driving to the city.

Their baos are definitely worth a try, particularly crispy pork. Their ribs platter is worth your every cent as you get 8pcs for $18. Perhaps the ribs could be made more tender.

Special mention goes to the hardworking and amiable staff, who added to my family's positive dining experience today. Will definitely be back to try their other baos and perhaps their salad.

The snapper wings are a must have. Chicken, squid and pork belly bao were also delicious. Service was great both times we've gone. Will definitely be back when we get the chance

Usually visit the Mt Eden branch and am always impressed, however visiting this branch I was quite disappointed. Normally order the tofu bao, but felt it was quite bland in comparison to what I’ve had before. Nonetheless, thought the ambiance and decor was fabulous.

First visit and won’t be the last. Kids each had the karage chicken bau and I the pork belly bau, we shared the pork ribs and noodles. All delicious, rich in flavour and filling. Would order a salad next time to cut through the richness of the meat dishes. Service was personable and the ambience relaxed and comfortable.

Love this place. We tried everything on menu and thought ribs were the best. Bao buns were also very delicious. Staff were so friendly and helpful with bringing out bday cake. Can't wait to come back here!!
