Oh man Katsubi Manukau is definitely delicious and my kind of food. First time I have tried and can’t wait to stumble across another one sooner rather than later.

Staff members are friendly, though the queue was really confusing: where to start. If you don't wait at the beginning of the queue, they'll ask you to go back to the beginning of the queue. Food was yummy and fresh, though a little bit more expensive compared to other food stalls in the food court.

Staff are generous with the salads and let me try the chicken. My first time and enjoyed it. think I will try the noodle next time.

Staff are ok but a little more of a welcoming and friendly approach wouldn't hurt. Also portion sizes on servings were pretty whack. I got more rice than anything else upon ordering a bowl.

Pretty good food every time I come here but prices have gone up to $18 for a large. $18 can get you a better meal and much more elsewhere. Still, the food is pretty good I really like the sweet spicy chicken! However they are not that generous with portions for the price of $18.

Gone down hill from when they opened. Their vegetables were not cooked (peas were frozen still), no onion, no lettuce left at 12pm. Super waste of money now.

When KD first opened it was great, fresh toppings all the time and really consistent. Now, half the time you go there, they don’t even have all of the hot meats/selections and the Vege Tempura is always so hard and the actual vegetable is undercooked. Extremely disappointing as this is my favourite Meal to get from the Manukau Foodcourt. Inconsistent, rude staff and won’t be back.

I used to attend this place when it first started and it was AMAZING, it lost track of customer service and became cheap so I lost interest. Years after I think to retry and I have to say that I'm quite disappointed.

The food was soggy: not crunchy enough/covered in sauces, the rice was made with too much water, there was waaaay too much sauce in the bowl compared to the amounts of rice/salad and unfortunately we received someone else's bowl by accident so we paid for something we didn't want.

I was very impressed with the portions of the meat but that was basically it, the food really left my family and I in a state of dissatisfaction like a lover that couldn't perform properly in bed.

Lack of attentive mannerism, needs a revamp to spice up the life again and I know it can do so well!!!!

This place really needs to up their game. They have always served hard old rice and today the Teriyaki chicken was so old and dried up it was like eating flavored cardboard. I bought my selection at 10:30am so I would have thought it would have had some freshness to it. I think I drew the short straw and got yesterdays left overs. According to my calculations $14.50 for a regular selection plus $3.50 for the Fuse Ice Tea I bought is $18.00. I just realised I'v been over charged and was asked to pay $19.00. I cannot be bothered walking back to ask for my $1.00 back. I dont usually write reviews but I did try to call the store but nobody wants to answer the phone.
Please teach your rude staff some customer service skills & basic maths. The cook needs some cooking courses aswell. Katsubi in St Lukes Mall is a good example to go by. The food is always fresh & the staff are always friendly..... Manukau is consistently disappointing.

Have frequented this stall for numerous times. Love their donburi set.

Came here again today for lunch. I had a regular sized donburi set, with yummy spicy teriyaki chicken, and sweet & spicy chicken, on top of the fluffy rice and assorted choices of salad. As usual, the amount of chickens was generous. Both the chickens were awesome and flavourful.

The staff was averagely friendly.

Food & Beverage : 8/10
Service : 5/10
Price : 6/10
Ambience : 5/10
0/5 Taste
2/5 Display
2/5 Quantity
0/5 Customer Service

Korean, Japanese style donburi franchaise.

Katsubi has always been one of my favourite places to go in shopping malls.

This place was by far the worst I have ever been to.

Quality assurance is really important with franchaises, especially with staffs.

The staff that served me used old, cold hard rice to make my donburi.
I was munching through and I almost chipped my mole. There were not just one bits of hard cold rice there were 3 big chunks.
The staff definatly would have seen the condition of the rice when they were scooping them, just seemed like they didn’t care at all. I hope that girl gets fired from her job and I wish I had the balls to walk up to them and show them the rice.
Apart from that, the spicy chicken I got felt a bit dry and old too. I had my meal before lunch time so all ingredients should have been freshly cooked.
Terrible food and overpriced. Bought the fish yesterday 23/12/2017 and it was DRY AS HELL. Like so overcooked as if it was in there for 12 hours or something. And they still charge full price? Rip off!

Nice japanese place around westfield manukau
They serve a lot of fresh japanese food like sushi/ramen/tempura etc
I tried the donburi for 13.50 wherein you have rice create your salad mix and choose your meat
It was a good meal, so if you're starving for japanese cuisine then donburi is one of your options
Staffs change from time to time, so sometimes you might encounter a very nice staff and sometimes rude.

Always seems to be very busy good selection of salads meats and sauces the combos are pretty reasonably priced I come here often couple times had some communication problems but nothing major... when it's the lunch time rush you do have to be prepared to be pushed and shoved a bit for everyone trying to get to the counter and get around to the different options apart from that everything fine

I would recommend

Always come to these guys for a quick healthy feed (healthy enough). Always enjoy the mix of veges and stuff. Every bite is going to be different. It's sometimes a hit and miss if I don't mix my rice and choices properly (e.g end up eating a whole mouthful of ginger hidden in my chopstick full of rice). The price has increased and the size of the bowl decreased but that's ok I understand they have to try and make a profit. Service is usually fast and friendly. Came on Thursday night and surprised there was no line...so service was fast and friendly enough...didn't really talk. Read the other comments and sad to read these guys service is getting shite no wonder there was no line and the food court was busy as. My experience is ok.

Staff were very rude and seemed to be annoyed that I needed more than 2 seconds to decide what to put in my order. Portion sizing was very off, the vegetables were not fresh , the seaweed tasted off as if it was very old. The beef was very sour, chewy and tasted as if it was sitting there for a while. I also decided to get the container of pumpkin tempura where ALL the tempura were very soggy. The pumpkin wasn't even cooked properly. Not worth the price.

Hands down the worst Katsubi restaurant that I've been to. I usually choose these guys when in a food court as they are a healthier option and usually pretty tasty however, this branch has left me feeling ripped off and like I don't want to visit any of restaurants again. The staff were rude and disinterested, sprouts, carrots and lettuce were brown and the portion sizes were actually pitiful! I ordered the regular and was given two pieces of Katsu chicken and about five pieces of teriyaki chicken - No exaggeration, had to ask the lady to put more on as did the man who was in line after me. I don't even know why I bothered paying for it tbh should have just left. BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE, BAD PRODUCE, BAD VALUE FOR MONEY, WORST KATSUBI BRANCH don't think I'll visit any branch after this experience.

Rude staff. Miniscule servings and therefore horrendously over priced If you hate your job then please quit! Shame because this is usually my go to in any food court but refuse to pay money for this kind of experience!

I don't normally review chain places like this because it is what it is, but this is the worst katsubi in Auckland, the portion size is terrible. Its Donburi they should be more than a couple spoonfuls of rice and more than 1 piece of lettuce. The rude staff didn't help either. Not a good experience

A decent place for a quick mean and still make sure it's healthy. It's probably one of the best food sources in the Westfield Manukau food court. You can get a good sized bowl- enough to fill you up- for just around $11. You can get as many vege toppings as you want and up to two different types of meat! Definitely worth the price.

Food was disgusting, one mouthful and I spat it out. If you're into shit food this is the place to go. I'm not sure why everything needs mayonnaise on it. Let the food speak for itself. Yuk!

Love the food here but only issue is the price and portion sizes they either give me less of everything or they are just stingy with the rice i would love to give them a 5.0 but really they need to fix this issue
Monique Ohlson
The food was so full of flavour and just the right portion size to fill you up! A great selection of drinks and the team were super friendly. The restaurant was very well presented and laid out for you to walk in and choose a nice spot to sit and talk. Really loved it and will be going back.

Katsubi is a healthy and tasty option for a quick lunch, you get to choose your salads and meat/ vegetarian toppings which is served on top of a serving of rice. The salads are fresh and crunchy which goes SO well with the meats/vegetables that are well coated and glistening in their delicious sauces such as teriyaki and the korean spicy sauce gochujang. Never had a combination gone wrong yet, though they are rather heavy handed on the salad sauces, which when combined with the sauces from your meat/vegetable toppings can feel like your meal is drowning. My to-go stop when working and need a healthy yet filling meal to last the day.
