Review Chans Restaurant - Masterton

There were 24 of us having the banquet meal. The food was excellent and very generous quantities. The service however was very poor. I had to go and ask staff to come and serve us. They didn't realise we had booked the banquet and were trying to take individual orders which confused a mumber of the group who were elderly. After the meal, I had to go and ask the staff to clear the tables and serve the chinese tea. The tables were half cleared and we had our tea with dirty plates all over the table. We never saw the staff again. The staff were young college kids who didn't look to be very interested in their job.

Really friendly and helpful staff. If you are a fan of the style of food, which I am, then the dine in food is excellent. The lazy Susan makes sharing food easily. The portions are generous. Chan's have a long rectangular dining area. On quieter nights you can choose a table away from other diners. This helps to clearly hear conversations at your table.

Chan's in Masterton is a must-visit for those craving delicious Chinese cuisine. The food at Chan's is bursting with authentic flavors and prepared with utmost care. Food was lovely although the orange beef was quite a small portion for the price.

We've never been disappointed with the food here. Best Won Tons and Sweet and Sour in town. 😋

Good food selection and very friendly staff. Food was good. Unfortunately we had a very noisy table next to us which made it an unpleasant experience.

Well where do I start we had 6 people at our table and our dishes where brought out slowly but we never got them taken away after we had finished the service tonight was terrible bit of a shock 😲 the food was great we never got our dessert as it came with the order very slack

Excellent zi go every year to send Christmas baskets , one to Australia. I have never had a problem yet. The staff are fantastic and very helpful.

We had Malaysian food here. At first we thought its just a takeway but the chef really understands making good food! We had a real experierence!<br/>Only the plastic on the wall. Please take it away☹!

Typical country Chinese restaurant, pleasant certainly but this is no haute cuisine. Horrible, standard decor, with usual array of gold and red objects, bad prints and dirty walls.<br/><br/>Spring rolls odd pastry, but ok. Satay chicken good sauce, but chicken flobbly. Undercooked. Steamed dim sims all Devon mince. Yuck. $5 for prawn crisps, no dipping sauce, is silly.<br/><br/>Sweet & sour pork ok, salt & pepper chicken dry. No dipping sauce, no chilli/shallot garnish. Bland.<br/><br/>Fried rice pleasant.<br/><br/>You can do better.

It was a great yum cha lunch. Will be back for sure with family and friends. Must try - banana and coconut sticky rice. Wow! It was a real surprise!

Chans has the best chinese food and loviest service in town!  Our families favourite place to eat out or takeaway :-)  Highly recommended to all.

Great food, shocking service. If this business cannot cater for large groups of people they need to specify this. Orders were mixed up, items on the menu were unavailable but we were not informed of this until after ordering. Staff clearly couldn't cope and were exremely rude when explaining our orders were not as we had ordered. We were not given the option to change them. Very disappointing. One member of our group was charged TRIPLE their cost. Staff member was unapolegetic.

Went to dinner with my partner last night and it was amazing couldn't find a bad thing to say bout the place food was delicious n well prepeared, service was great n not over the top, great atmosphere will definitely be going there again. yummmy yummy yummy had an awesome night! :)

My family and i had lunch at Chans Restaurant,we found the place tidy and clean,the service awesome.Great menu choice ,we all ordered something different to eat. The food was great,even miss fussy loved her meal.Awesome place highly recomend eating here the salmon was divine.Keep up the good work ,will be back again.

this place has changed hands the food is no where near as good as it used to be,certainly will avoid in the future
