Review The Redoubt Bar And Eatery - Matamata

Great service, good food and nice choice of beers. We ordered the pork burger, beef pasta and onion rings. And two beers. The onion rings were average, and the pork burger was good. I’m a pasta fan so I particularly enjoyed the pasta. Well-cooked, rich sauce and generous portions of tender beef. Highly recommended!

Just wanting to have some light food when passing by this town, we found this bar that has nice atmosphere and decided to get the pork sliders and a glass of lemon tea. Staff was friendly and the service was amazing! Despite only ordering one dish to share, they helped us to divide the food without any instructions, though I was confused at first. The taste was fabulous and the lemon tea was tasty. Would recommend anyone to enjoy their night here 😃

Excellent service and lots of great beers on tap. The portions where not very big for some of the meals but the fries and onion rings were super yummy

We stopped here for a drink and afternoon tea. The staff were friendly and welcoming as well very efficient. We ordered a couple of sides and the portions were very generous. Interesting memorabilia on the wall celebrating Matamata's sports history.

Really delicious meals and entrée. 2 adults & 1 child. We got the specials board of deserts the cookie monster & chocolate brownie which sold out really quickly. Have been to both matamata & morrinsville bars and will definitely be back again. Was pretty busy when we came in on Friday night and all our meals & drinks were perfect. Keep up the good work team.

Excellent food with fast and friendly service! We stopped here for lunch before our Hobbiton tour and were were glad we did! Waiter recommended the Pork Belly Boa Buns and they were excellent, highly recommend them! Fun little pub near Hobbiton! Highly recommend stopping by if your in the area!

We stopped in Matamata for lunch on the drive down to Napier. We parked nearby and decided to stop here. The menu was fairly sized and had nice options. The server was very friendly. After getting our orders we were able to admire the decor of the bar including the kayak on the roof that went to the outside area. the food was quite nice. Tasty and well cooked. I had the Buddha bowl and that was really tasty particularly the coconut rice which actually tasted like coconut. The chowder was on the salty side though. It was quite a nice place for a fairly chill lunch before heading out again.

Restaurant uniquely added with a feel of Hobbiton. Food was absolutely delicious and the service was fantastic. You can both enjoy good food and warm atmosphere here. Food pricing is average and wont cost an arm and leg. Highly recommended restaurant when in town. Located across Matamata isite so it's relatively easy to spot.

Just wanted to say thanks to the guys at Redoubt Bar & Eatery ❤ We had the best dining experience I have ever had. Compliments to the chefs. I feel relaxed and satisfied after having a scotch fillet perfectly cooked and my sticky date pudding. No photos of the mains cause I was starving🤣🤣🤣 Extremely awesome customer service at your beck and call!! So glad we stopped here. 6 stars ❤

Lovely small restaurant with a great atmosphere. They have a fire place and have live music on Fridays. We had the platter on both occasions and loved it !! The cocktails are great too, and the pudding was devine. I had the cheese cake and kids had the Brownie. Generous portions.

Amazing place to eat. Went for my daughter's 20th for lunch. There was 8 of us. Very attentive and friendly staff Staff even played happy birthday and bought her a piece of cake. The whole place sang to her. It was awesome. Definitely recommend coming here.

Cute spot right in the middle of town. Indoor and outdoor seating, homey decor, friendly service. Cocktails, wine, liquor, and tap beers available. Their appetizer bread crisps are mouth watering. I went during dinner time and ordered the lamb dish. The lamb itself was delicious, but those vegetables stole the show! They could be a dish onto themselves. I've never been taken aback by what was supposed to be the "side dish" before. Lol A+

Looked like a really nice place to eat. We waited for a while for service ( which was okay ) Meal arrived , I took my first mouthful of my spinach ricotta ravioli , to find there was steelo in it . They advised they would replace it . I decided not to get another as my tongue was cut and everyone else was already eating. The waitress later kindly came over and advised " They wouldn't charge me for the ravioli " No apology, Still had to pay for my glass of wine . Sad sad sad I hate to be the complainer ,

The waitress we had was very rude, not once did she smile or act friendly! Also didn't bother to let us know there would be a massive wait for our food, the place wasn't packed when we arrived and ordered so we couldn't see how the wait was so long, when i had asked the waitress how long our food was going to be after waiting 50 minutes she acted as if I was in the wrong for asking, cutting me off before I had finished talking saying it wouldn't be long... We finally received our meals after an hour of waiting and it was not worth the wait! Food is very average for the price. The water was also very horrible tasting. A bit of bad food is easily forgiven but bad service is a big no no to us! never will we set foot in there again. We spent just under $100 for the 4 of us and left feeling like we had wasted a lot of time and money and wishing we had of went to a bakery instead.

Excellent service and food to start with but 15 minutes after we finished our mains we asked for a dessert menu. 30 minutes later still no server so left.

Service briallant ⭐️if it's not on the menu they will still do it for you Shrimp cocktails are to die for ! Garlic bread always order

My partner and I had dinner here. Awesome little spot to have a few drinks and a quality meal. We both had the seafood special and were very happy with service! Highlight of our night would have to be my partners cocktail. Kiwi Rogue; Gin-orange juice-mint-kiwi fruit-squeeze of lemon juice-and cucumber, super delicious!

Took my Mum to enjoy an evening listening to James Ray... Both of us had an awesome evening and our meal to boot was pretty bloody good, thanks Guys for an awesome night �

we had an awesome meal for my husbands birthday, he turned 71. we couldnt eat it all of our main meal so asked if we could take it home and they said yes. thanks again for a great meal cheers Val and Peter Kendrick
