Review Dew Drop Inn Cafe - Matamata

We stumbled upon this cozy cafe while looking for a coffee shop that wasn't too busy. The staff were friendly. Service took a while taking into consideration our orders: 2 cups of coffee and 2 slices of apple crumble. The coffee was good and the food was okay.

This is an amazing Cafe, great family service. Staff were friendly, food was delicious, coffee is recommended here. We spoke with the owner for a while she is an amazing personality. I'm going to make this our regular stop at Matamata from now on.

Small cafe but so beautiful interior and well maintained. Cafe may be bit expensive and yes they do have organic food and dishes. You can take a photo of yours in a Hobbit attire. Loved the experience being here.

Charming little cafe with great food. Only reason 4 instead of 5 stars is due to the 30 minute waiting time for our bacon eggs & toast. Great coffee, friendly service, lovely atmosphere with painted walls, vintage crockery and small woolen blankets on all the outside seats!

This place was so stinkin' cute. Loved the little LOTR dress-up corner--made it feel like someone's home. Also, I had the best chai latte of my life here!

Nice pleasant place for a coffee and snack. You could also dress up as a Hobbit for photos (for $5) for a bit of fun. I had the beef vegetable soup, which was hearty and warmed me up. The eggs and bacon were basic but great, as well the apple pie and the omelette - all simply prepared and played and all good. The service was warm and friendly. Only slight downside was the place was open to the cold winter winds, warm knitted coverings for your legs were provided, but you and your coffee could chilled quickly. Inexpensive and great value for money.

Cosy little cottage-cafe, with admittedly lots of touristic features, but not lacking in charm and hospitality. One of the best flat whites of my trip, in a HUGE cup! I very much enjoyed their fresh salads along with the "troll stack". Cute interior, sunny outside area. Overall charming, cosy, and a surprisingly good value for money. Heading straight here next time I'm in town.

Great food, great staff. The right atmosphere for a visit to Hobbiton

Good food, great friendly service. Servings are good sized, and overall the experience was great - which was a nice surprise given the potential for places in that area to be quite touristy. People next to us were served the wrong thing, but the staff were very apologetic and more than made up for it.

Classic brekkie done right. Home style food at a price that makes sense. Down a side street, so nice and quiet. Definitely recommend going here instead of that over priced, supremely average chain on the corner.

We had a delicious coffee and tea. The owner is super friendly and smiley. She even gave us a little cafe from Bilbo's birthday! 😁

If your looking for a home cook food this is the place loads of character and flavoursome food. Very friendly staff and would really make you feel at home. I’ll come eat here whenever I pass matamata and totally recommend it .

What a joke. I went here for father's day breakfast. Got coffee finished that before kids got their hot chocolate. Got my eggs bene. Before anyone else waited for 5 mins before deciding to eat. The kids got their pancakes as I was finishing. An the hubby still hadn't gotten his bacon an eggs. Kids had nearly finished theirs before his came out. Cold uncrispy bacon. Cold toast an hard eggs. This took 50 mins . And we were the only ones in the cafe when ordering. Will not recommend this place to anyone that likes to eat as a group family. Individual people who have plenty of time to kill . U are welcome.

Lovely place, lovely food, lovely service, wonderful novelty. Best place for breakfast in Matamata, worthy of Bilbo himself.

Lovely cafe!! My sister and I stopped in for breakfast and the food was delicious. The coffee is also awesome. What made the experience even better was the atmosphere and the staff. Very friendly and accommodating. For $5 you can dress up as a hobbit which was lots of fun!!!

Really cute little cafe in the heart of Hobbiton really nice food! Great coffee and very friendly people! I'd come back based on how friendly the staff are alone! Definitely worth a visit !

Very impressed with this little cafe. The sweetcorn fritter stack with homemade chutney was lovely and my daughter said the pancakes were the best she'd ever had. The staff were friendly and looked after us very well. Would definitely visit again.

Best little cafe in Matamata, hands down. I am currently living in town and I head down to the Dew Drop whenever I have a day off. The food is not only tasty...it's beautiful and I could not ask for a cozier atmosphere or a kinder staff. All the stars!

We were caught off guard with $6.90 price tag on mocca latte. Did not realise your establishment can surcharge 15% on Auckland anniversary. We could have walked a few meters more for much better take-away coffee at that price. Our lesson learned-not worth dining here on a public holiday :(

Loved the ambience and food was good. The little extras like the crocheted blankets, so thoughtful! Best of luck new owners of the dew drop inn Matamata.

Lovely little cafe with super friendly staff! Perfect after the hobbiton tour. The chocolate cake with caramel on top was fluffy and very yummy! Thanks for that ;)

Couldn't recommend a better place From the old fashion tea cups , the collectors teaspoons and the hobbit style setting to the delectable home made goodies and fabulous hot chocolates (complete with marshmallows and jaffas ) I'd rate them 5 stars just for that but where they really shine is their fabulous super friendly , go the extra mile customer service . They really take care of their customers and go the extra mile Big , small and even feathered we always feel welcomed and leave with a smile
