Review Xoong - Mount Eden

The staff was very accommodating to our group that day. We were originally seated inside but was too tight and my sister forgot to inform them of the extra numbers. We were shifted to a bigger table which had a more open space. Food was a bit spicy if you have young kids so that’s why I couldn’t give the restaurant full 5 stars.

Very traditional Chinese restaurant environment.Staff were very nice I spill something they were prompt with service. (I’m clumsy) Food wise it was great honestly. Interesting take on Asian cuisine but some of it was wrong. Duck fried rice flavour was great but a bit too salty. The rice was also a bit wet not really on the fried rice side. Good take tho Beef curry was soso not much depth of flavour in the curry. Wood roasted duck was quite nice. Skin was crispy the hoasin sauce paired well with the duck. The condiments were quite nice and fresh. I think the prawns was my favourite cus it had great seasoning and very crispy. Tuna tataki was also a highlight. It was well balanced apple gave it crunch, sauce gets sweetness to the meatiness of the tuna The pad Thai was definitely interesting. It’s not bad pork belly was just hard but they used the wrong noodle!!!! They use chee choeng fan!!!! It’s quite novel though This place is not bad just not very authentic Asian cuisine but they have their own spin to it.

Excellent service, delicious and well presented food and great ambience. Highlights were the Peking Duck Pancakes, Salmon Curry and Duck fried rice.

The food was excellent, gorgeously decorated, and well prepared. The service, however, was average. Although the waitress was competent and professional, she forgot to refill our water glasses, which is a very fundamental and crucial task. She didn't ask as to whether we wanted to have dessert. We waited for five to ten minutes and no one to be seen. I would recommend this restaurant..

Awesome experience and service! The cuisine is more Asian features and mixed with local taste, bring normal dishes with a new soul! creative dishes with a well-displayed delicious food is what we got today. More spaces upstairs and rich design details are hidden everywhere, especially loves the courtyard, glad to try it on a summer night next time.

A must visit restaurant in Auckland. Walking in, the great decor and vibe really set our expectations. We felt we'd decided on the right restaurant. There were four different staff members that served us throughout the night, and each person was super fun, friendly, and helpful. We had a few cocktails, all of which looked impressive and tasted even better. The food was amazing. We ended up getting three small dishes with a side of rice which was plenty of food for the two of us, although we still had room for a small dessert. Each dish was fantastic. Looked like an artwork and tasted just so good. Will definitely he back!

Amazing customer service + astounding food. Food portion is okay. They also have nice cocktails and mock-tails. Would definitely come here again. 😊

We enjoyed the food and the decor is nice too. I would say the eggplant chips were the favourite accompanied by the tamarind sauce. The rolled noodles in the pad Thai were delicious, although the chicken was okay. Dishes are for sharing so worked well with our group of four.

Yum! We ordered a set menu which contained a sample of all their best dishes. They portioned them out according to how many people we had so it was super convenient for us. Highlight dishes were the tuna sashimi, duck fried rice, and wok tossed veges - intense wok hay! They gave us an upstairs table which was fairly spaced out from the other tables so it wasn’t too loud around us. Awesome service :)

We went for a birthday party and as we were a large group we decided to get the set menu. It was a massive spread I would say 15 or more dishes, no one left hungry. Dishes came from many different Asian countries for example peking duck from China and green papaya salad from Thailand, also some fusion dishes melding different cultures in the one dish. The staff were very attentive Can't recommend enough

This place has a lot of good food, and it's of good quality and usually arrives very quickly! Xoong also has pretty good prices! although the menu isn't very big, the other redeeming qualities of this restaurant highly compensate for that. Some things I would recommend from here include; the sweet and sour porkbelly, the wagyu beef, and also starting off with some small plates first because a lot of good flavours are in that selection. In conclusion, I would definitely recommend this place to others for multiple reasons, as I very much enjoyed my experience here. The customer service is very good, and it's in a nice location in the Mt Eden shops.

Was quite eager to try this place since it is fairly new. Look for hanging lanterns and an X to find the entrance. The entrance leads to the bar but then I was lead to the other side which had the dining area. It was nicely laid out and it wasn't too packed so it was comfortable to move between the tables if required. Service was quite nice. The waitress was very attentive and friendly. The food was quite nice. The fish tartare was very interesting. It was served in a half cylindrical crispy shell which almost made it like a taco. The fish was nice and fresh and the crunchy shell gave it nice texture. i was really disappointed with the clams. They were fairly bland, including the liquor that was served with it. You get a faint saltiness but not any of the clamminess. The duck fried rice was quite nice though. Nice flavour in both the rice and the duck. Overall quite a nice restaurant. I would guess food might be hit and miss depending on your tastes.

A brand new food joint which already has full bookings at lunch time. We had to sit on the bar side which was still pleasant but the tables are obviously made for drinking as they are quite small. Food is presented really well and are good modern takes on the classic Chinese restaurant dishes. Cooked well, great ingredients. Staff are positive and very interactive to make sure everything runs smoothly. Would recommend to book.

Great food here at Xoong this evening. Not very crowded and the food presentation was fantastic. Very good fla oalrs that mix well together. The duck fried rice was epic. Desserts were extra decadent. The Jasmine Balls were in and extremely sweet syrup, but apart from that definitely a place to dine at.

We recently went on a date night to Xoong and I cannot recommend this place enough. Have been telling everyone what an enjoyable experience it was. Service was impeccable and the food was absolutely delicious with big portions. Do yourself a favour and try the popping prawns - YUM! We can’t wait to come back for another date night.

I really like this place. So many flavoursome and interesting dishes that I can't pick a favourite - but I will mention the superlative fish tacos I just had, and the rich, unctuous Tom Yum Negroni. Good late-night vibe and friendly efficient staff too.
Jean Knight
Curried salmon with rice and a glass of fine Red wine made my night.

Delicious Asian Fusion food that caters to (almost) all palates. Maybe not suitable for young kids as it's on the spicy side. Excellent service, good wine list and a really lovely setting. Highly recommended.
Betsy Wang
Awesome fusion food, the duck fry rice and egg plant chips are must haves. The staff members are extremely accommodating with us splitting the bills 8 ways. Thanks we had a great night out.

Delicious food served quickly. Each dish was interesting and tasty. The staff were very attentive but the manager of the day was lacking in people skills. The restaurant was pricey and so we were surprised that the charge for bringing along a birthday cake was $25. This charge was not welcomed!

X marks the spot. I had dumplings and Rua pinot. Both are good. The dumplings were first class. Overall wine list is uninspiring. Its good but clinical. The place. Like the Garden Shed. Formulaic. Service is good. Music is trying to emulate war era...you know...Good Morning Vietnam. Sure we can move to a local place we cherish rather than...just another restaurant. Will be back Xoong to explore more.

You guys should eat, shasimj, chiken wings, eggplant and duck fired rice, delicious!

I went to have dinner with my boyfriend last Saturday. It was a really nice atmosphere and our waiter was a really caring person. Food was amazing. I have a dietary requirement (Cannot eat coriander) for my food so I let them know while we order the food. Unfortunately, the kitchen staff did not see my dietary requirement so I got the main dishes with coriander. The wait staff kindly replaced my dishes but I can still taste coriander from the dishes so I cannot enjoy fully. I was not happy about it. The wait staff nicely suggested offering a discount on the dishes. When we about to pay the bill, we informed the manager about my experience. The first and only question he asked, "DID YOU SEE THE CORIANDER ON DISHES?". He did not even care about my experience of food. He looked clearly annoyed about the situation and treated us as being a cheap person to demand the discount. He did not even feel sorry did not even say it. I could not believe the way of his attitude. This restaurant isn't a cheap restaurant. HOWEVER, the manager of the restaurant made the restaurant looks like no value. How shameful. He absolutely ruined my evening. I do not think that want to go back to the restaurant.

Went in with a few friends and we ordered 3 dishes between the 4 of us. The star of the night was definitely the eggplant chips! The green curry was amazingly flavourful! The only let down was the vegetables which were undercooked. Service was good considering it was really busy.

Easily confused with Wu & Yu, Xoong stands as a worthy competitor in the ever so loved Asian-Fusion scene. Walking in, you're instantly consumed by the dark moody feels Xoong gives. The restaurant itself was huge, with a full seating area down and upstairs. Bonus points for the beautiful decor, cutlery & menu designs ( who doesn't love a hide bounded menu).

Xoong has a relatively extensive menu which is supposedly inspired by Chinese & Japanese cuisine. Many available options for meat lovers and the low carbers, but we personally opted for the following; ranked by how much we loved them.

Tuna Tataki
Duck & Lychee Salad
Wagyu Beef Cheek Curry

& a cheeky glass of Sakura Falls

Tuna Tataki - Mypersonal favourite, but that might be my bias tastebuds talking. Served with a mustard miso foam, diced apples & grapefruit - a refreshing twist on textures. Highly recommended!

Duck Salad - Also a refreshing choice with generous amounts of roasted duck & skin. Perfect for those who are a fan of the sweet & sour combination. Could not fault apart from some extremely fatty pieces of duck

Wagyu Beef Cheek Curry - Saw wagyu and beef cheek, and knew we had to try it out. The cheeks were tender and melt in your mouth, but curry was slightly lacking in flavour. Served with various vegetables, portion was huge! Would suggest going for another main, but hey! Each to their own.

Sakura Falls : GREAT cocktail. Can actually tell there's alcohol in it, which is rare these days. Reccomended!

Overall, service was outstanding. My water glass was literally always full. Food was good, ambiance is perfect for one on one catchups or even a group dinner. Pleasant experience for the night

Had a pretty decent time there. The staff was super friendly. I was surprised when my partner didn’t know what Rose to drink and the staff actually gave 3-4 tasters to choose from.
Good crowd. Over all good vibe.
#fatlyfe
The beef bao- tasty but didn’t like the addition of kimchi cabbage if that’s what it was
The beef main was to die for!!! It good to share cause it is quite massive and goes well with rice. The lamb ribs- fell right if the bone and was different to what I’ve ever tried before in terms of ribs. It had a bit of a coating on it. Popping prawns- delicious. Tanqueray 10 drink was super unpleasant it was super bitter and not enjoyable at all for me

Wow!! Xoong is an absolute hidden gem, I couldn't recommend this place more. Absolutely beautiful food, fantastic service and great vibes. I ended up going twice in one week. Everything we ordered was delicious and bursting with flavour, the standouts however, were the Salmon, lamb ribs, chicken yakitori and melt in your mouth beef curry. I will be back again for sure.
Bonny Sapphire
Delicious, very punchy flavours. All three dishes had a bit of heat. Had the prawn dumpling, fish curry and duck salad which was well balanced sweet, sour and spicy with perfectly cooked duck, loved the Vietnamese mint, super fresh! Nice interior, friendly service! Nice touch that they give sparkling water free. Probably not for those with a modest pallet. Will be back for the half duck and whole fish!

Xoong absolutely blew me away. Food was superb, service was outstanding and ambience was incredible. Serving up Asian Fusion cuisine but still keeping the freshness, authenticity and simpleness of the dish. The Kingfish sashimi is a must try, the prawn dumplings were exquisite, it had plenty of sauce and a good amount of prawns. They don’t skimp on the sambal either so make sure you have a good dollop with each morsel. The green papaya salad, may not be as authentic as the ones you get in Thailand but still the flavours were there and still packs a punch. Beware though the spice is not for the faint hearted so be prepared to fire up your tastebuds. Worth mentioning also that their cocktails were on point and every bit as good as their food. Xoong is not one to miss, great place for friends, couples and good company. Looking forward to XOONG being on the Metro list. You have got to try this place.

good food, good environment, love the decorations and the outdoor seating area, friendly service, prices are a little expensive.

I had such a delicious meal at Xoong last week! Everything was fresh and delectable. My favourite was the fresh catch tartare and the pandan tapioca!

We recommend!
Lydia In Wonderland
The taste is good, not too exceptional, but with the stunning deco and environment, the experience is very good.

Friday night - no one else in restaurant. Got seated at terrible table. We asked to move but was told everything was booked. Interesting as no one else but us there and we hadn’t booked a certain table so why were they reserved for others that weren’t there! Finally moved us to another table only to be told we could only have it for an hour. Walked out. Will never be back.

We visited Xoong on a Tuesday for a birthday event and we adored the ambience of the restaurant. There was a bar on one side, a number of seatings on the ground floor and coloured lanterns hanging from the ceiling to the second floor where we were seated. The menu was designed to share and there were a series of options, small plates to starts and big plates. There were 5 of us so we got the chance to try quite a few of them. The king fish sashimi and pork belly came out first, both beautifully presented. However the king fish tasted less fresh than expected (you know how there’s that fishy taste?). The scallops arrived next, tasted amazing however was also a bit cold.

The squid was a hit, we polished it off quick! The beef curry was my favourite, but it came out last so I was already too full, would definitely recommend.

Overall, I enjoyed my experience at Xoong.

$25 cake fee charge though ;(

I came here with my family for dinner. We ordered the fish tartare as the starter, sweet soy pork, vegetarian noodles, tapioca and jasmine rice balls for dessert. My favourites were the tartare and jasmine rice balls. I did not expect the sweet soy pork to be a mince and it was way too salty, even with rice. My sister loved the tapioca dessert because of the combination of flavours. I liked their use of paper takeaway packaging, however they should invest in some smaller sized carry bags to be more sustainable!

A perfect place for Friday night, lots of Asian elements. Service was heartwarming and we really love that quiet atmosphere at the back. Will be there again.

My friend and I came to this hip new-ish Asian fusion restaurant, located in the heart of Mt Eden village. The restaurant itself is quite spacious with some interesting decor and a large upstairs seating area. The bar had some reasonably priced cocktails and our food came at an okay rate. Between the two of us we got two starters, 3 mains and two drinks, totalling $140.

Starters
Kingfish sashimi - apparently one of their prize winning dishes: nice and fresh. It was well seasoned with a lightly spicy sauce and had a nice texture with the apples and celery.

Yakitori scallop: flavors were okay, had a decent spice. Scallops themselves were slightly mushy though. Definitely have had better elsewhere

Mains
Wagyu beef cheek curry: beef was very tender and the portion was generous. The curry flavour was a bit lacking though. Think it is supposed to be a take on Massaman curry however the sauce was watered down.

Wood roasted duck: similar to Peking roast duck. Skin was nice and crispy and meat was tender. Although some of the pieces with bone were slightly tough. The truffle and mushroom sauce enhanced the flavour of the duck nicely. Only downside was that it was only warm, not hot when it was served.

Duck fried rice: flavors were good, on the salty side though, with a sweet soy sauce. Not much else to say about it.

Overall
Ambience: 4.5/5
Service: 4/5
Quality 3.5/5
Portion size: 3.5/5
Presentation: 4/5
Value: 3.5/5

Overall it was an above average dining experience, with okay food. That said, for this sort of price point in the Asian fusion scene, restaurants like Azabu and Gao are definitely better picks.

Located on Mt Eden Road, a spacious restaurant. The place itself has two floors and is divided into a bar area and a couple dining rooms. Excellent ambience, the restaurant has an industrial chic with some Asian styled decor.

Food were beautifully presented. The combination Japanese, Chinese and Thai techniques was quite remarkable. Also some excellent mixture of spices. The pork belly was well cooked, had the perfect portion of fat and lean meat, matched well with the mustard greens and mayo. The roasted duck was crispy on the skin but tender on the meat with a beautiful sauce. The king crab and scallop were very well flavored as well. All their desserts are yummy too, recommend the jasmine riceball and pumpkin cake.

Definitely one of the best Asian fusion restaurants in Auckland.

Food: 10/10
Food presentation: 10/10
Service: 9/10
Location: 8/10
Ambience: 9/10
Price $60 per person (excl alcohol)

My first experience at Xoong. I came here with a friend after I’ve finished studying around 5ish it wasn’t busy at this time.
We were greeted and seated at a table with menus. I love the detail of this place everything from decor to their tableware, it’s very unique.
They offer sparking or still I love how they are consistently filling our cups with water.
Food was absolutely amazing, we had a small plate of crispy squid it was crunchy and prefect! Our bigger plate we order was braised wagyu beef red curry that was delicious! We also had a side of wok tossed greens which were fresh and crunchy! And a side of rice to have with our beef curry.
Overall service was good, food was good! Only downside was these small flies that kept flying around our food, was quite annoying and one ended up dying it my cup 😂 but besides that I will come back with more of my friends

Walked in tonight to enquire if there were any tables. The maitre d’ ignored me and when I was able to ask if there were any tables he was rude. We will not be back.

It was our first visit. It was a Friday night, hubby and I were gonna go for ramen, but we saw this delightful gem across the road, and decided to check it out.

Firstly, loved the ambience and decor. Lots of interesting cocktails on the menu - very tempted to try them all. I’ve ordered Sakura fall, Ello sailor and Silk Road Punch - Ello sailor was my favourite out of the 3, but all of them looked very pretty. Food was delightful, we’ve ordered catch fresh tartare, pork and scallop gyoza, wok greens, vegetarian noodles and wood roasted duck. The roasted duck was our favourite dish of the night.

Asian fusion restaurant at Mt eden rd. Deco pretty cool. Foods are creative and pretty presentation. Staffs was nice. But there's too much flies when we eat. This was the only thing i don't like about here, others were pretty good.

Came here with a group and ordered the set menu. There was a great selection of food, the fried market fish was amazing and a must have. The desserts are really interesting and tasty too.

Came here for lunch the other week and ordered the eggplant chips, Tatare, beef curry and wok tossed greens. The taste of the food was good however the wait time was way too long. Took about 25 mins for the eggplant chips and tatare to come and then a further 20 mins for the mains. Also not to mention we arrived at 12:30 and the place was basically empty. Don’t know how they would do with a full house. Our waitress was lovely

Went on a rainy Wednesday night for dinner around 7pm. The place slowly started getting busy just after this time.

Between the 4 of us we ordered the teriyaki scallops and eggplant chips for starters. The market fish, half duck and chicken salad for mains. The teriyaki scallops were cooked really well and were fresh, albeit nothing exciting. The eggplant chips however are insane! Can’t recommend anything more, juicy but really flavoursome sauce. The mains were all very good sizing, and very filling. Highlight was the chicken salad out of the mains, which was refreshing. The only downside to the dish being that it had bits of the chicken skin which I didn’t like personally.

The service was attentive until we finished our mains, we did spend around 5-10 mins of waiting around without anyone approaching to see if we wanted dessert or anything else. Otherwise everyone was friendly, the wait wasn’t too long for food and everything surprisingly came out together (on menu it says they might not).

Overall a good experience, would rate it more of a 4.5/5 rather than the 5. Would recommend.

An Asian fusion restaurant, very cosy ambience . We had a great dinner here. Overall the taste was well balance, love how they add typical Asian herb like Vietnamese mint into the dish. The wagyu beef curry was our favourite. The fried rice was a bit salty.
Vegesaur
Went here with a friend after she recommended it. It is a little overrated I have to say. Very tiny amount of vegetarian options. The portions are pretty small too. I had the veggie noodles, and I was very underwhelmed considering how much they cost. The cocktails were nice, but again, very pricey for what you get. I won't be going back.

Loved this place!! It's a lot bigger inside than it looks from the street and the decor is really cool. The food is amazing, my favourite was the beef cheek curry and wok greens! Definately worth a visit.

AMAZING!!. Spent $170 for 2 people for 2 entrees and 2 mains and 1 bottle of red was $52(tinpot), very nice and overall great drinks menu. We had both a female and male serving us who were both equally fantastic. Food was AMAZING, just wish we could have tryed everything but can't wait for our next visit. Restaurant itself is really funky and offers multiple dining/ bar rooms with gr8 chilled out sounds in the background. This is my new new favourite place and would highly recommend.5/5.

Remember this place as molten and liquid molten. Very mood lighting inside, clean and modern decor and food. Spices and flavours here are spot on, i was almost in tears when i tasted the papaya salad, yes it was amazing but it had this wonderful spicy kick to it. We ordered too much food for the 4 of us, take their advice. 2 mains,4 entrees and a salad is a lot, the portion sizes are generous and the waiters went out of their way to make sure we were enjoying our food and were comfortable. Would recommend and definitely coming back again.
Kelly Koor
Awesome deco and service. Not to mentioned the food, we have the duck, fish of the day and jasmine rice balls. Definitely one of the best fusion restaurants I’ve tried!
Calvin
Xoong knows whatsup, it’s a interesting asian fusion restaurant with fancy decoration. Everything I expected from the same owners as toktok, the mains were surprisingly large in portion, they weren’t kidding about the dish sharing. In terms of flavour, the taste of spice and aroma is plenty enough and sometimes too much, the beef and chicken dish was overly seasoned by itself, which would be fine when having with rice though. Will def come back.

Food- 8.5/10
Service-8.5/10
Aesthetics- 9.5/10

Bit deceiving from the street frontage but inside is a whole new story! Walk through the bar into fantastic seating arrangements and decor. Food was well prepared and delicious. We had duck, fish, lamb and a few cocktails/wine. For the four of us the bill came to $374, $85 ea which I thought was reasonable for the quality of food and service received.

Visited this restaurant after reading a review! Just opened 7 weeks ago! What can I say! We ordered the dumplings to start excellent flavours soft morsels with delectable filling best dumplings I have eaten. The we went for the market fish, snapper amazing flavours we almost ate the bones and we couldn’t get enough. Side of Asian greens delicious! The deserts were equally as yummy! Beautiful presentation delicate flavours great mix of Japanese Chinese flavours complimenting each other. Will defiantly make this restaurant a staple. Can’t wait to go back.

There was a lot of hype around this restaurant in Mt Eden, thought of giving it a try. An Asian fusion cuisine. We tried the duck fried rice, wok tossed beef ,papaya salad ( both recommended by the waitress), kopi susu martini.the rice and salad were totally delicious. However ,we had issues with the beef . Though it had the flavours, some of the pieces were way undercooked and extremely chewy, and some were perfectly cooked but at the end of the day, the dish was unappetizing. Minus one star for the wok tossed beef.. !
Went to this place for dinner last night after reading a review last week in Viva. Had zero problems with booking online via their website. Most of the staff are friendly but because everything is relatively new it's hard to get their attention and sometimes it was hard to communicate with them.

We had two starters and a main with two bowls of rice. The rice portion is large so it's good for sharing. The Salmon teriyaki was fantastic along with the Gua Bao but the main we had (lamb chop) was lacking. The sauce was fantastic that it came with but the meat itself could've used some seasoning and some extra sauce since it was almost $40 just for the main.

Ordered two drinks that never came and we ended up finishing our food before finding out that they never made it.

Ambience is nice (we were upstairs) and love the little themed rooms. Our small starters were amazing but just disappointed our main didn't compare. Overall they have promise but it might just take a couple of months for them to find their groove.

Amazing staff. Had a delicious lunch and felt it was a very fair price. Full for Friday lunch, also it’s Mt Eden’s latest restaurant. Divine dumplings. Would recommend. Coogee was interesting. Had nothing to compare it to. Chef came to talk to us. Yes I will go back.

I came at 1:30pm on an empty stomach. I was starving, my friend recommended the restaurant but he’s a hit and miss. But I thought I would try anyways.
For starters we had scallops. Tasted mediocre, it’s what you would expect for the price you pay, but nothing more. I personally feel there was no wow factor, did not stand out, only display looked pretty, tasted very average I had one and gave the rest to my daughter. Wasn’t worth it, better at other restaurant like lava dining. 2/10
Next we had the fresh catch tartare, I thought it was fish, my wife actually thought it was scampi. But it was all mixed up and put with smoked pepper mayo, yuzu and tobiko. This dish was very good and tasty. 8.5/10
Salmon Teriyaki, this was recommended from my friend and I almost decided we weren’t friends anymore after tasting this. The congee is mushed but dry, giving it a more mochi texture like beaten rice instead of congee. The salmon teriyaki and spicy sauce did not mix well with the mush rice. Tasted worse than baby food. The deep fried skin was chewy and hard instead of crunchy. Couldn’t even swallow. Highly unrecommended. But looks very very pretty I have to say. 1/10
Duck fried rice... this was regret... the description said kimchi and eggs. The eggs were done beautifully, but everything else was sad. The rice was smothered in hoisin sauce, overpowering the kimchi, overpowering the entire dish. Tiny shreds of duck, overpowered by the sauce also. If it wasn’t for the egg, this dish would’ve been disgusting. I give it 1/10 because of the well prepped egg.
Market fish was a while snapper, the sauce, veges, garlic etc. was a very good idea. Again another eye appealing dish... but did not really work. The fish was better on its own, the sauce wasn’t necessary and didn’t help bring out the taste of the fish. Another disappointment. 8/10 for the fish and cut design, 0/10 for the rest of the ingredients.
Friendly staff, great bar man. Plenty of flies. Paying fine dining price for eye catching presentation, but worse taste than a Chinese restaurant, nowhere near fine dining tasting food.
Service: 4/5Food Quality: 0/5Food Quantity: 3/5Presentation: 4/5Environment: 0/5Price per person: $60 excluding drinks.
The One With A Nut Allergy...
Food was lovely and flavours were definitely there :). Only issue was that service was quite off, though I know it's opening phase and the team are still getting their flow together. Often had to reclarify what we had asked for, requested for water multiple times until we were given a refill. Those are easily forgiven but the major issue was the fact that having a nut allergy, you think they would know what ingredients are in their dishes. A waiter took a dish away from us saying there were nuts in the dish that just got served to us; a couple minutes later another waiter returned the dish to say they were beans.

Great night with awesome food and the best cocktail I’ve had! Duck fried rice and the crispy pork salad were the highlights of the night. Had scallops and dumplings for entree - scallops were ok but dumplings were fantastic. Service was friendly and great at the start but very slow as they got busy. Empty plates sat on our table and vacated tables next to us for at least 10-15 minutes before being cleared. Great night and look forward to going back.

Heard about xoong’s recent opening and been to their other sister branches like tuk tuk a few times so decided to check this out for our anniversary dinner.
The decor looks great and with a nice bar and multi areas including a back yard and another floor upstairs . We ended up seated upstairs and it’s a good spot as we ordered scallops for starter and the beef and duck fried rice as mains plus beer and wine to wash it down .
The waitress was quick to ask still or sparkling when we just wanted plain tap water but I guess it’s an upsell technic with antipodes which is quite common at a few restaurants . We got our drinks and also starter in a few minutes but we had to wait almost an hour for our mains to arrive and when the beef arrived , we had to wait another 15 mins for white rice to turn up as we couldn’t eat the beef without it !
After the duck friend rice turned up a few minutes later with the white rice , a second same beef dish arrived as well which was a double up as they might have made an error here since our next table who arrived later got their mains within 15-20 mins and was quick !
Anyway the meal was good but we sort of lost our appetite due to the wait and had to take away some of it. We would venture back but not in a hurry...

Great interior, tasty food, good wine list, unique dishes. Will definitely be back. Small tweaks to be made to wait staff and service, otherwise a lovely experience

One of the better meal I’ve had in Auckland.

Came here for Mother’s Day with 4 of us.
Ordered 4 small dishes, 1 salad, 2 mains. We were all very full by the end.

The scallops gave my taste buds a tickle and woke my hunger
The chicken was okay.
The chicken wings were very tender and flavourful. Simple and basic but really great.
Papaya salad was fiery and zesty. A bit too spicy.
THE DUCK FRIED RICE - Smokey and flavourful!
Salmon teriyaki was the most interesting dish at lunch that day. It was a blend of chinese congee with teriyaki sauce, drizzled on top of smoked salmon, and garnished with fish eggs. So goood.
The wok tossed beef though... Juicy and slightly chewy. As you chew on the steak, you can’t help but want to stuff your mouth with another piece straight after. Must try.

Ambience: 5/5
Service: 4/5
Food: 4/5

Newly open Asian fusion restaurant in Mt. Eden. Restaurant have good decoration inside and outside. The menu quite unique from other Asian fusion restaurant. I like seafood dishes here, we had salmon teriyaki congee, scallops dishes and market fish. They made seafood really tasty. I would recommend friends come to try this restaurant.
