Awesome fusion food, the duck fry rice and egg plant chips are must haves. The staff members are extremely accommodating with us splitting the bills 8 ways. Thanks we had a great night out.
You guys should eat, shasimj, chiken wings, eggplant and duck fired rice, delicious!
Went in with a few friends and we ordered 3 dishes between the 4 of us. The star of the night was definitely the eggplant chips! The green curry was amazingly flavourful! The only let down was the vegetables which were undercooked. Service was good considering it was really busy.
Easily confused with Wu & Yu, Xoong stands as a worthy competitor in the ever so loved Asian-Fusion scene. Walking in, you're instantly consumed by the dark moody feels Xoong gives. The restaurant itself was huge, with a full seating area down and upstairs. Bonus points for the beautiful decor, cutlery & menu designs ( who doesn't love a hide bounded menu).
Xoong has a relatively extensive menu which is supposedly inspired by Chinese & Japanese cuisine. Many available options for meat lovers and the low carbers, but we personally opted for the following; ranked by how much we loved them.
Tuna Tataki
Duck & Lychee Salad
Wagyu Beef Cheek Curry
& a cheeky glass of Sakura Falls
Tuna Tataki - Mypersonal favourite, but that might be my bias tastebuds talking. Served with a mustard miso foam, diced apples & grapefruit - a refreshing twist on textures. Highly recommended!
Duck Salad - Also a refreshing choice with generous amounts of roasted duck & skin. Perfect for those who are a fan of the sweet & sour combination. Could not fault apart from some extremely fatty pieces of duck
Wagyu Beef Cheek Curry - Saw wagyu and beef cheek, and knew we had to try it out. The cheeks were tender and melt in your mouth, but curry was slightly lacking in flavour. Served with various vegetables, portion was huge! Would suggest going for another main, but hey! Each to their own.
Sakura Falls : GREAT cocktail. Can actually tell there's alcohol in it, which is rare these days. Reccomended!
Overall, service was outstanding. My water glass was literally always full. Food was good, ambiance is perfect for one on one catchups or even a group dinner. Pleasant experience for the night
Had a pretty decent time there. The staff was super friendly. I was surprised when my partner didn’t know what Rose to drink and the staff actually gave 3-4 tasters to choose from.
Good crowd. Over all good vibe.
The beef bao- tasty but didn’t like the addition of kimchi cabbage if that’s what it was
The beef main was to die for!!! It good to share cause it is quite massive and goes well with rice. The lamb ribs- fell right if the bone and was different to what I’ve ever tried before in terms of ribs. It had a bit of a coating on it. Popping prawns- delicious. Tanqueray 10 drink was super unpleasant it was super bitter and not enjoyable at all for me
Wow!! Xoong is an absolute hidden gem, I couldn't recommend this place more. Absolutely beautiful food, fantastic service and great vibes. I ended up going twice in one week. Everything we ordered was delicious and bursting with flavour, the standouts however, were the Salmon, lamb ribs, chicken yakitori and melt in your mouth beef curry. I will be back again for sure.
Delicious, very punchy flavours. All three dishes had a bit of heat. Had the prawn dumpling, fish curry and duck salad which was well balanced sweet, sour and spicy with perfectly cooked duck, loved the Vietnamese mint, super fresh! Nice interior, friendly service! Nice touch that they give sparkling water free. Probably not for those with a modest pallet. Will be back for the half duck and whole fish!

Xoong absolutely blew me away. Food was superb, service was outstanding and ambience was incredible. Serving up Asian Fusion cuisine but still keeping the freshness, authenticity and simpleness of the dish. The Kingfish sashimi is a must try, the prawn dumplings were exquisite, it had plenty of sauce and a good amount of prawns. They don’t skimp on the sambal either so make sure you have a good dollop with each morsel. The green papaya salad, may not be as authentic as the ones you get in Thailand but still the flavours were there and still packs a punch. Beware though the spice is not for the faint hearted so be prepared to fire up your tastebuds. Worth mentioning also that their cocktails were on point and every bit as good as their food. Xoong is not one to miss, great place for friends, couples and good company. Looking forward to XOONG being on the Metro list. You have got to try this place.
good food, good environment, love the decorations and the outdoor seating area, friendly service, prices are a little expensive.

I had such a delicious meal at Xoong last week! Everything was fresh and delectable. My favourite was the fresh catch tartare and the pandan tapioca!
We recommend!
The taste is good, not too exceptional, but with the stunning deco and environment, the experience is very good.
The staff was very accommodating to our group that day. We were originally seated inside but was too tight and my sister forgot to inform them of the extra numbers. We were shifted to a bigger table which had a more open space. Food was a bit spicy if you have young kids so that’s why I couldn’t give the restaurant full 5 stars.
Very traditional Chinese restaurant environment.Staff were very nice I spill something they were prompt with service. (I’m clumsy)
Food wise it was great honestly. Interesting take on Asian cuisine but some of it was wrong.
Duck fried rice flavour was great but a bit too salty. The rice was also a bit wet not really on the fried rice side. Good take tho
Beef curry was soso not much depth of flavour in the curry.
Wood roasted duck was quite nice. Skin was crispy the hoasin sauce paired well with the duck. The condiments were quite nice and fresh.
I think the prawns was my favourite cus it had great seasoning and very crispy. Tuna tataki was also a highlight. It was well balanced apple gave it crunch, sauce gets sweetness to the meatiness of the tuna
The pad Thai was definitely interesting. It’s not bad pork belly was just hard but they used the wrong noodle!!!! They use chee choeng fan!!!! It’s quite novel though
This place is not bad just not very authentic Asian cuisine but they have their own spin to it.
Excellent service, delicious and well presented food and great ambience. Highlights were the Peking Duck Pancakes, Salmon Curry and Duck fried rice.
The food was excellent, gorgeously decorated, and well prepared. The service, however, was average. Although the waitress was competent and professional, she forgot to refill our water glasses, which is a very fundamental and crucial task. She didn't ask as to whether we wanted to have dessert. We waited for five to ten minutes and no one to be seen. I would recommend this restaurant..
Awesome experience and service! The cuisine is more Asian features and mixed with local taste, bring normal dishes with a new soul! creative dishes with a well-displayed delicious food is what we got today.
More spaces upstairs and rich design details are hidden everywhere, especially loves the courtyard, glad to try it on a summer night next time.
A must visit restaurant in Auckland.
Walking in, the great decor and vibe really set our expectations. We felt we'd decided on the right restaurant.
There were four different staff members that served us throughout the night, and each person was super fun, friendly, and helpful.
We had a few cocktails, all of which looked impressive and tasted even better.
The food was amazing. We ended up getting three small dishes with a side of rice which was plenty of food for the two of us, although we still had room for a small dessert. Each dish was fantastic. Looked like an artwork and tasted just so good.
Will definitely he back!
Amazing customer service + astounding food. Food portion is okay. They also have nice cocktails and mock-tails. Would definitely come here again. 😊
We enjoyed the food and the decor is nice too. I would say the eggplant chips were the favourite accompanied by the tamarind sauce. The rolled noodles in the pad Thai were delicious, although the chicken was okay. Dishes are for sharing so worked well with our group of four.
Yum! We ordered a set menu which contained a sample of all their best dishes. They portioned them out according to how many people we had so it was super convenient for us. Highlight dishes were the tuna sashimi, duck fried rice, and wok tossed veges - intense wok hay! They gave us an upstairs table which was fairly spaced out from the other tables so it wasn’t too loud around us. Awesome service :)
We went for a birthday party and as we were a large group we decided to get the set menu. It was a massive spread I would say 15 or more dishes, no one left hungry. Dishes came from many different Asian countries for example peking duck from China and green papaya salad from Thailand, also some fusion dishes melding different cultures in the one dish.
The staff were very attentive
Can't recommend enough
