Review Kiin Thai Kitchen - Mount Eden

Nathalie Ong
We dined here for lunch, the ambiance is really cosy and modern and we were seated right away. The food came out fairly quickly, we ordered crispy pork, pad se ew and beef pendang curry & mango sticky rice for dessert. Overall the food were yum! We really enjoyed the flavour’s especially the noodles wok fried & curry very complex flavours and nice smooth sauce (not watery) and the mango dessert was 10/10! They used real mangoes to not canned ones. The only let down was the beef on the curry - the beef were somewhat chewy and hard to eat, we believe they could have used a better cut of beef. Service was outstanding, staff were super friendly and prompt. The price is also pretty steep all the mains are about $25-$30, mango dessert was near $17, pretty pricey compared to other similar places. We spent $90 for 3 mains, a drink + dessert, however it was worth the visit!

a bit on the pricey side - the meals we ordered came without rice, so with rice, it came close to $30 per meal plus dessert. food was pretty good, esp the mango sticky rice. you can never go wrong with mango sticky rice. the service was a bit lacking. it felt like the staff weren't very proactive, didn't take menus away after ordering, didn't take plates away after asking for dessert to be served etc. i won't fault them too much on this as i do understand they are relatively new.

All the food were tasty. Standouts were the Tom yum won tons and the mango sticky rice (you should order it in advance to avoid disappointment). The crab fried rice was just ok contrary to all the other reviews saying it's amazing.

I've wanted to try this place since they were on Mt Eden and now I was able to go to their new premises on Dominion Road. We did book to pre-order the mango sticky rice. It was also because we didn't want to miss out, which was a good idea since it did fill up fairly fast for dinner. The menu isn't super big but does have quite a few interesting options, particularly in the season specials page. We grabbed a few things to share as a group. I grabbed a Thai iced milk tea while waiting for my friends and it was quite nice with the frothy head. My favourite of the night was the ton yum wontons. Fried crispy wontons topped with mince and a tom yum sauce, salty, sweet and not too sour. One of my friends ate the sauce with rice. I also quite liked the mango sticky rice, nicely cooked and flavours sticky rice with a whole lot of mango and coconut sauce. The fried chicken dry noodle was also tasty. The Penang beef cheek and whole fried snapper were also nice. The crab fried rice was a little on the dry side. It was a really nice place for good Thai food. My expectations were met mostly because of the tom yum wonton and mango sticky rice. Definitely keen to come back to try some of the other items like the lamb shank massaman.

All dishes are delicious. Shrimp salad and salmon are both very fresh. Fried rice and Namtok beef are wonderful. I have been here for 2 years. Thank you very much.

A bit pricey but it's an authentic Thai restaurant. The drinks weren't the best. I highly recommend the crab fried rice tho.

One of the Best Thai restaurant in Auckland. They served Authentic and Fresh food every time we ordered while we were dining in the restaurant. Cost and quantity are directly proportional which is really good. Street parking options are available depending on what time you decide to go.

Delicious and authentic Thai cuisine. Pork mince rice is recommended. But wait time is too long, we wait for 50mins……..

Tasty food. Ordered medium spicy stir fry which was quite spicy. Small and popular place, recommend booking. Next time would like to try the Pad kra pao.

I have had 5 trips to Thailand and Thai restaurants are always my first choice in NZ. The food we had from Kiin on Saturday night 12th May, was as good as I have ever had! Fresh, Tasty, plentiful. Highly recommended. The owners were also very friendly and accommodating.

Great food and really helpful staff in finding items for my son with food allergies. We will be back!

The area needed a good Thai restaurant, and it now has it. Spring rolls were crisp and not at all greasy, chicken and cashew was brimming with vege and chicken and pad Thai was pretty good - just missing some additional extras such as crushed peanuts, lime and chilli. We will be back.

I’ve ordered takeaway from here twice and both times were a 10/10!
Their cashew nut chicken is loaded with fresh veges and tender chicken. The sauce is rich and perfect accompaniment to rice.
I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of their roti. Butterfly, flaky and would eat this on its own too!!
For this quality the price is so affordable this is now my go-to place to cheap, good and filling food💛

I have to admit I came here for one thing only and thats to try their Som Tum Platter (thai papaya salad). If you have never tried Som Tum, you are seriously missing out. You can get just the salad on its own but the platter just comes with supplementary items that go so well with the salad. And by the way, if you like the heat, go for medium level spicy! Everything tasted so fresh. The platter is designed to share but what the heck get one just for yourself. It cost $25 and you can have it over 2 meals and trust me you won’t want to share. It is that good! This is definitely my new favourite comfort food, full of umami and so satisfying! Next time
I will be back to try out their other dishes which I’m sure will be just as delicious! 5 stars!

Got the pad Thai and chicken noodle soup.
Noodle texture is excellent and they are generously portioned, giving a lot of meat! Thai iced tea is also delicious, but only available during weekends.

Very authentic. We love it here especially their special menu they seem to change it every now and then too keeping it fresh. Pad Kra Pao jumbo is a great feed well recommended. Service is fantastic too they get the food out so quickly! Very impressed this place hasn’t let me down it’s fast becoming my go to for Authentic Thai food in Auckland.

Fast and friendly service with excellent food and great service. Especially loved the Tom Yum. Although I'm not Thai myself, the restaurant was packed with Thai people so it seemed to be an indication of authenticity. Definitely recommend if you like Thai food. The Thai Milk Tea is also a big plus.

Great local option. Busy on Sunday. We had Larb Gai and Pad Thai, both tasty and nicely spiced. Will visit again.

Just beautiful, caters to old people with conservative tastes and fairly old people like me who love variety and spice.

Came here for their weekend special Thai food - beef noodles and papaya salad. The noodles was really good - tasty broth, tender beef. Papaya salad was good as well. But nam tok - pork salad was just average. It could be better. The service was awesome and the restaurant is really clean! They also have special dessert - eclairs and pandan coconut cake but not everyday. You might have to ask. The eclairs were really good!

I came here after driving past it. I ordered the special pork noodle soup on the weekend, I also got Thai ice tea. Amazing. Exceptional service from the boy and food taste original. Thank you for your service will be back.
