Urban was definitely one of the best restaurants we have been during our trip in New Zealand. Everything was amazing and the staff was great. We loved our dinner there and we repeated two nights in a row. Definitely a must go if you are around Nelson.

Wow, amazing food. It's very tasty. Chefs awesome. Friendly service and clean. Recommend pork sliders and beef tacos. Oysters from Marlborough Sounds were big and fresh. All food freshly cooked. Fantastic.

Amazing food - all 4 dishes we had (ceviche tostadas, duck tacos, market fish and the tiramisu) were the best meal we had so far in NZ. Cocktails were amazing too. Service was good - we had no reservation but managed to get a table as walk ins. It filled up pretty quickly. Thinking of going again in the second night in Nelson!

An absolute gem of a spot. If you’re ever in Nelson, give it a go. We had the most delightful dinner, the service was great, chefs were friendly, food was absolutely amazing, can’t fault it.

We were welcomed and provided the best service by Vitalija. She provided excellent recommendations and had full knowledge of all the meals and drinks. We are travelling NZ at the moment and appreciate the service provided and has been the best so far . From entree to shared tapas, it did not disappoint. The food was excellent, flavoursome and fresh. The atmosphere was lovely with great ambient music.

Great place for dinner! We ordered the fresh oysters (natural and nahm jim sauce), market fish crudo, Vietnamese beef tartare, bbq dark breast taco and lamb wrap! It was all pack full of flavours and freshness

This place was definitely one of the top eateries I've been to. Excellent service and excellent menu choice and I was very impressed with the drinks range as they had a variety of cocktails that I had never seen before which was epic to see! Food was divinne. Would highly rate this one as a must go. The smoking Scotsman is a must for anyone who like dark liquor and the spirtz is for all those refreshing people's out there. Add to your must do list.

Beautiful oysters and food was amazing! But just the duty manager was not very nice, they mischarged us for one more dozen oysters, the duty manager refund us but not in a nice way. Great oysters though, we enjoyed.

Absolutely love this spot for a spectacular drink and meal. Food like you’ve never had before. Genuine 5 star quality with fresh local ingredients that make you love every season in Nelson for what they have to offer. Drinks menu is always a hit with fresh and exciting ingredients and concoctions. 100% recommend visiting this place if you’re ever passing through. Atmosphere is unmatched.

Absolutely loved it. The atmosphere was great. Dimed lights, chilled vibe, music. Service with a smile, efficient and friendly. The food was epic. It all came out in a timely manner too. I chose Oysters with Nahm Jim, Vietnamese Beef Tartare, Duck Tacos and Tiramasu. I love Nahm jim flavours and the oysters went well with them flavours. Wished id ordered more. I enjoyed everything I ate but the Duck tacos have to of been my fav dish of them. The flavours actually reminded me of a ground hangi. I also found my new favourite brand of Pinot Gris here. Man'o'War. I cant wait to come back and try some more yummy morsels. I highly recommend this place!!! Thank you for a great experience team.

Came here for my brother's after graduation dinner. Food was superb. I personally wish the portion was a bit bigger but thats because it was so delicious I wanted more. I think this is a place to drink and nibble and not so much as a dinner place. Would definitely come again.

Had another delicious meal at Urban recently. This place has such a great vibe, music, ambience, service and food. Lots of different sharing platters to choose from. It's another Nelson must try, will leave you coming back for more 😋

Food cuisine is more innovative and has a different taste. The taste is very good. But the taste is generally salty. More suitable for pairing with beers. Need to drink a lot of water to neutralize the salty food. It is recommended that the restaurant reduce the saltiness and it will be more suitable for the average person.

Absolutely delicious! Everything we ordered simply great! Service was also super friendly and quick. Definitely a must-see. The portions have been designed for sharing, but they can adjust them to the size of your group.

Fantastic eatery in Nelson. Came here for a late lunch in a Thursday and the lovely staff were more than happy to help with the menu and our large group. It was awesome to be able to sit at the kitchen and watch the chefs work their magic. Each dish that came out had unique flavors and contrasted well with the last dish. The wine list here is local and there are some great wines on here. Stand out dishes was the Sashimi and the Ceviche Taco!

Went here in orange light one night on our honeymoon, staff are lovely & chatty, and will help with the menu. What they don't tell you is the cabbage with kimchi butter is not only the best value menu item, but also insanely delicious and perfectly cooked 🤩 The pork belly sliders & duck breast tacos were also magnificent, but a bit more on the salty side & not as good value for money.

Fantastic food. Interesting with no pretence and topped off with a tasting plate (paddle) of beers. Service was friendly and efficient with staff making sure we had a great night. (The samba popcorn was to die for... get in while they still serve it)

Hubby and I had the most amazing meals. Gorgeous tasty sauces and tender meat that almost looked to pretty on the plate to eat. The service was the best we've experienced in a long time. Every member of the staff was friendly making you feel welcome. We even went back again the next night.Ten out of ten guys you and your food were fantastic. �

The best night in Nelson! As a solo traveller this was such a good environment to have a chat, watch the chefs in action along with amazing food and cocktails 💯 definitely would recommend to anyone travelling here or just passing through :)

Went here tonight for the first time and it did not disappoint. Had a dozen beautiful oysters, a pulled pork empanada with prawns and delicious sauces and some Kung pao fried chicken. So tasty! Flavours were excellent and presentation was beautiful.

Possibly the best meal my friends and I have ever eaten. Outstanding attention to detail and unbelievably gorgeous food.

I have been back multiple times - the food is tapas style so easy to share and more importantly delicious. The staff is always friendly, the oysters are always fresh and the mixed drinks are wonderful as is the beer and wine menu. Look forward to my next visit - when in Nelson this is the place to go.

An absolute delight !!!!!! From service to ambience to food - cannot fault a single thing even if I tried. All staff, owner, chefs we're really helpful and patient with my wife's dietary requirements and made sure we had an epic time. We are not even a local and can't wait to visit again. Sliders are the bomb, ceviche taco is so nicely done. And don't even get me started on the cheese cake - sooo freakin good. Overall they know how to put food together

By far the best food we have had on our trip to NZ!! Don’t base your decision on overall Zomato reviews, it looks like one person below has given an unfair 1 star rating. We had a chicken, beef, pork and vegetable dish and all were absolutely exceptional. The menu caters to all types of dietary requirements. The staff and chefs provided personalised and friendly service, atmosphere was awesome and food came out lightening fast. Great beer and wine selection, staff were knowledgeable and able to recommend perfect pairings with our food. Unable to fault Urban Oyster, we will be booking a flight back from Australia just to visit again. Where is the 6 star button?? Thank you!!!

Friendly staff, hoppy beer, sun and delicious food. What else would you ask for!! We enjoyed our sliders, lamb cutlet the most. Golden beer is a local craft beer on tap. They also have a great range of bottled crafts.

We almost didn't pick this place because of the rating but a local friend firmly recommended it. We are so pleased We did. Best meal out in NZ so far. The ambiance was a bit to cafe to really be a Restaurant but we could not fault the staff or food at all.<br/>When paying by card you are asked for a tip and the prices could be a little high- however, the food quality demands a 5, would give it a 6 if I could.

One of the best meals we've had during our visit to the South Island - and we've paid more than twice as much per head. The service was friendly and helpful, particularly when it came to gluten free options. We had the ceviche fish tacos, kung pao popcorn chicken, and lamb shoulder. All were delicious - full of interesting flavours and textures. Thanks to all involved for a fantastic meal.

The food at Urban was very nice and it had nice vibe. However we we're virtually kicked out as soon as we finished our meal and this staff member was extremely rude. Unfortunately this ruined our experience at Urban. <br/>

There really is a lot to like about Urban. The menu promises bold and exciting flavours and for the most part, it delivered. Sashimi was excellently fresh and nicely presented with tapioca crisps. The venison tataki with shitake dumplings was solid although the dumplings were a little bland. The highlight was the veal sweetbreads and rack chops - absolutely faultless. Service was excellent throughout and at the end, the man who I took for the manager was happy to hear feedback. Excellent value for money and great to see a restaurant take such pride in what they do.<br/>

Very good and creative food and friendly staff. Music was a bit loud but that didn't detract from the atmosphere. Best was the salmon sashimi. Also enjoyed the pork buns and lamb. Don't miss it!!

Great food and great service. We got four tapa plates to share between two - probably one too many, but we finished them all anyway they were so delicious!

These guys are great. Great service, great food. Great music too. Couldn't fault the place. Not even the prices. Wanted to come again the next night but they're shut Sunday. Bummer. Would have dragged a few along I reckon. Oysters yum. Wine yum. Mains yum. Blah de blah. Go there. You'll be happy.

After all the positive write ups we had high expectations and these were exceeded. Great hosting and assisted us with dietary requirements. Starters, mains an desserts all tasty with well balanced flavours and the recommended wine fitted nicely. Definitely a place to return to

Eating here was such an excellent experience. The passion of everyone who worked here for creating incredible flavours, combined with truly delicious food, really made our night. We were lucky enough to sit next to the kitchen and watch the magic unfold. Gluten free was no problem, and when we shared a dessert - the chefs split the gluten and gluten-free portions so that my boyfriend and I could easily share it. We left here pretty thrilled that we ate here.

Had a quick pre-movie dinner here with our son and we all enjoyed the food, service, and atmosphere. The food is based on small plates to share and staff went out of their way to explain food options and also to make sure there would be enough for three to share etc. we were also advised not too...

Had dinner. Excellent food. Great service. Fabulous chef interaction if seated alongside their cooking. Thoroughly enjoyed the food, ambience and conversations with chefs and staff. Outstanding!

Awesome place, great atmosphere, delicious food and very attentive friendly staff. I love the fact that you can sit by the kitchen and chat to the chefs while they are working (they even give you tasters!). Urban has a chic Melbourne feel with a vibrant hum. I love the fresh sashimi, the pork belly sliders and the tempura chilli crab is to die for! Everything is freshly made and the staff tell me that the menu changes regularly. We tried several of their dishes and they were all delicious with delicate flavours that matched perfectly. Awesome place to go with friends if you are looking for the sharing concept with delicious dishes that are reasonably priced. They also have plenty of local wine and Golden Bear on tap - once again very reasonably priced (several glasses under $10.00!). A MUST go if you are local or visiting Nelson ... I will definitely be back.
