We’re just tourists from the UK, touring the country and we just randomly stumbled upon Mike’s Bistro. My husband wanted pizza and I wanted a burger so this place was a win-win for us. The beer was amazing, the food was amazing and the staff were cheerful and friendly! We appreciated that Mike himself actually went around to all the tables to greet everyone and make sure everyone was provided! You don’t see that very often anymore these days…
My husband and I took our not-yet 2 year old and my father-in-law out for dinner tonight and it was such a wonderful night. The ordering system was not something we were used to, but the staff showed us how and it was so good! We could order our daughter her dinner while we ordered drinks, and could then order at our own leisure. It is a fantastic system!
The staff were attentive, friendly, and so good with our daughter.
The food was superb,we couldn't fit in dessert after a starter and main but we will be back for dessert one day.
We all left feeling full, happy and relaxed (which is unheard of when you take a toddler to a restaurant!!)
We actively opted for the higher end of the menu in terms of cost because it was a special treat, but you can totally do less $$ per head than what we did.
Highly recommend Mike's Bistro. Thank you for such a great night.
We happened upon this place by accident. We were looking at other places to dine but most places were booked and so we ended up here and how fortunate we were. The atmosphere was really amazing. A typical pub feel but very rustic as well. We ordered calamari, Mike’s fried chicken and prawns as starters and seafood chowder, beef burgers and chicken burgers and drinks. We were not disappointed. The food was amazing. The beer battered chips were too frickin good. Great evening and good food. We missed the live band though. Will come again.

What a fantastic restaurant, had my husband's 60th birthday here the service was amazing and food delicious 😋 Ron made sure we were well taken care of. Friendly waitress showing all our guests how to you the tablets. Good on you guys will definitely be back.
Mate. This place is absolutely Devine. We ordered through delivereasy and all I can say is wow. The food is to die for. Fresh, full of flavour AND they had the option of gluten free. And it is the best gluten free option I have ever tried. I can't rave about this place enough. The pricing is absolutely awesome too. I don't have photos to show you as I was way to excited to dig in. But honestly, what you see is what you get. 10/10!!!!
Last minute walk in. And able to seat us straight away.... even though busy. Very enjoyable meal, awesome music playing.... with donations going to hospice. Loved the ginger beer. Thanks

We were pleasantly impressed by our dinner on a Friday evening in July. We followed the crowd and walked into Mike’s without any prior awareness of the restaurant. Mike’s ended up being one of the better meals we had while traveling in NZ. We ordered calamari and the basa fish main. While basa is a controversial fish in the USA - for those worried about water quality and fish farming - there’s no doubt it has a lovely flavor and is enjoyable to eat. The staff were friendly, helpful, and able to pour half pints of their draft beers. You can order from a tablet or from a server.
Nice beers, a really enjoyable place.
