We have dined at the Bangkok on a number of occasions. We often spend time in Oamaru during long weekend and always look forward to eating here. The food is superb and the service is excellent. If you enjoy Thai food I highly recommend this restaurant.
I've eaten at Bangkok Recipet about 4-5 times now. It has become my restaurant of choice when passing through Oamaru. The food is superb, and the staff are friendly. Usually, I take other people with me, so I've had the opportunity to sample many of the dishes they have to offer. If you like Thai food, or haven't tried Thai food yet, this is a great place to have a good experience with it, and enjoy a delicious meal.
I've dined here twice and wild horses won't keep me away any time I overnight in Oamaru. Take it from a Thai food nut: this is as good as it gets! Well, if it does get any better I want to know about it! Who says you have to go to a big city for the best ethnic food experience? If you're in North Otago you certainly don't. Very warm and friendly staff, too.
Beautiful food and the sweetest staff ever! Have been in a couple of times quite late at night without booking and the waitress (same girl both times) was so welcoming and provided excellent service. I've never been disappointed here and will continue to visit.
The food are delicious but the service has spent quite long-time.
I expected the food here to be super average given its location in a small NZ town. How wrong was I! The pork belly fried rice is amazing and the sauces that accompany the satay chicken are very flavoursome. Add to that the most pleasant hostess and its a 5-star rating from me!
Food was yum but pad thai lacked flavor , $60 for 2 dishes and a side dish bit on the high side for takeout would serve maybe 3 people.
A really comfortable space and I personally find the main guy who hosts fantastic and he is direct and doesn’t hover and put on unnecessary pleasant airs.
The food is excellent although on the pricey side just a tad (NZ thing), genuine flavours and fresh ingredients. Their advanced, 🤭 menu is what really shines and you’ll be easily pleased for venturing away from the familiar Thai dishes.
Will always happily recommend this place to anyone as it’s consistent and a happy time - unlike what could be said for most of Oamaru sadly.
We were appreciated the male staff who really concern about the hygiene. He wiped the door handle, window and sauce area.
Beside, they make their own Thai's drinks with a special price. Also, range of sauces that's you can choose with your meals.

Yummy food, good portion size. Def would reccomend! We had basil sauce duck & ginger chicken (special). The drinks were waaaay too sweet but easily dilutable with water. My friend found the drinks good but I have a lower sweet tolerance. Overall 👌💯
Really great authentic Thai food. They apologised as had were short staffed the night we were there. However the service was prompt and attentive, however the most important piece, the food was awesome. Thankyou.
My mum who I am visiting and took there kept groaning in delight as she at the pork crackling, so embarrassing... but another example of how good it was...
We had a takeout few days ago the beef street noodles was very nice the only thing was the size serving was very small my container was 1/4 empty.
Delicious and authentic food, fast and friendly service from lovely wait staff. And great value for money.
Fantastic Thai food here, I ate here with a colleague 3 times in a day and a half while travelling. They have a small vegan section for me and my omnivorous colleague was very satisfied with the rest of the nenu he chose from. I had the massaman curry twice, it was so good I wanted to lick the bowl to get every bit of the delicious sauce.
