We stopped in for a quick bite and loved it! The meals are so affordable and delicious. We had nachos and quesadillas and they are definitely the best we’ve had since we lived in Texas! So good! Highly recommend!

The Bay of Islands is blessed to have a gem like this serving good coffee, creative food and all round good vibes. We returned here again on our weekend escape and we were delighted with another delicious breakfast. I would most definitely recommend the rosti!

Best fish tacos hands down! That's all my partner eats there. 'Why screw with perfection? Their perfect!' He says every time he's eating them! Love their burritps but def a size that can be shared between two! Coffee is always consistently good too! Family owned and operated. Always friendly. Best tacos, burritos etc in the Bay!

Happy tummy guarantee! This little cafe has good vibes. The chef (also the owner I believe) plays good music in the kitchen 😀 He prepares every meal patiently, all food are served warm and tasty, the portion are generous too! The lady at front desk is pretty cool and polite, she makes good coffee! ☺️ Try their quesadilla! It was so good I forgot to take a photo! 🤭 Thank you for the good food and warm hospitality :-)

Super tasty food, you can enjoy beach views and the sparkling water if you sit outside. They were able to swap the wheat for corn tortillas with the Spanish eggs. Breakfast burrito was tasty, well balanced and a good portion. Smoothie was generous and gluten free brownie was nice and chewy.

Easily the best food in Paihia. ElCafe is cheaper, of a higher quality, more filling, and tastier than its competitors. We had both breakfast and lunch there, and were absolutely blown away - a definite must.

Excellent food, and awesome service. It's a bit off of the main center but worth the extra block or so walk. BBQ Pork Tacos were huge and delicious! Staff was helpful making suggestions. Loved every minute of our time there.

Was supposed to dine in but felt really uncomfortable so took it out to eat at the bay after sitting inside. The lady at the counter had no welcomes or hellos, and none existent service, if anything her efforts felt forced and our presence was a burden. Besides that we were there for the food which in fairness was good, hearty, and well priced. The quesadillas was spot on and chorizo burrito was just right for a breakfast option. The kids enjoyed all of it.

What a hidden gem this is, honestly in all of our breakfast experiences so far in Paihia, this place has been the best, the Chorizo breakfast burrito was divine and authentic, full of flavour and appropriately apportioned. The heuvos rancheros was tasty and the eggs were perfect. Coffee was some of the best we’ve had in Paihia so far, I’m guessing they use high quality beans.

Yummy Mexican-style brekky. Perfect for vegetarians also. Tucked away a little further away from the busier section of Paihia.

I visited this spot during my Northland trip. I was in Paihia for three days and my accommodation was very close to this restaurant. But, I never visited this place. The outside El Cafe board was never appealing to me at all to try anything here. Before heading to Kerikeri, I stopped here for a coffee and quick breakfast. I must say, this little place is a hidden gem! I fell in love with the interior and the concepts. Whoever designed the interior has done it with utmost care. The concepts are great! The wait staff was very kind, polite and had great customer service skills. The food was amazing and the coffee was great. I gained a little knowledge about the Maya civilisation from the books kept there. Our final meal on Paihia was too good! Would definitely visit this place next time I visit Paihia abs would highly recommend! Cheers
