Lovely service and atmosphere. We got scotch fillet, lambs 3 ways and pork ribs. You won't be disappointed.! Great kitchen staff and wonderful chefs! Entrees were yummy too! Thank you team! The staff knew we were celebrating birthday and the free desserts made us a big surprise! Pretty funny thing was our familiar friends had the table beside us but we did not notice that until we saw them in our pictures! We believe everyone will love Aberdeen!

Wow wow wow wow wow. Just an amazing meal. Took my relatives who were visiting NZ to this place and they have never had a steak so good in their life (and they've been to a lot of countries!). Service was lovely and I loved the atmosphere of everything. Garlic bread was tasty, pate was divine, lamb was the best lamb I've had to date. We polished everything off of our plates.

My husband and I Went for dinner I had the 200gm eye fillet cooked blue and I also had au gratin potatoes and of course garlic butter to tell you the truth everything was cooked perfectly. Everyone was very friendly and helpful 🙂 Briar was our sever and she went out of her way to help . This was the second time here and again I wasn't disappointed. Keep up the great work and I'll see you again. Oh yeah the garlic bread is also very yummy 😋

Wonderful experience. It was the first place we had a meal as a family in Palmerston North, since arriving and it did not dissappoint. Ive been in hospitality for 15 years, both as Sous chef of a 5 star boutique hotel and manager of a very popular seaside Restaurant in Jeffeys Bay, South Africa. And Aberdeen was truly a great decision. I always hammered it into my staff, that a restaurant is about exprience, not JUST about the food. - Greeted upon arrival with a smile. - Taken to a great table infront of their fireplace - Waiter attentative and friendly, and just the right amount, not to the point of being bothersome. - the food.. just... wow. - the food arrived perfectly spaced out. - the Aberdeen Reserve Syrah was Great with their 500g Bone on Ribeye with Truffle butter. Thank you guys. You will see us again soon.

This was the first time my husband and I had eaten at Aberdeen, and we were very happy with the service and the food. Our waitress was friendly and helpful, she explained the specials well and allowed us extra time to look at the menus. Our drinks were delivered quickly. The food was excellent, and came out in great time. I couldn’t finish my meal because of how filling it was. The chicken was cooked perfectly, and was incredibly moist. I’m not a huge mashed potato eater, but the garlic mash was delicious. We would happily come back again.

The service was great although the lady who looked after us did forget the colouring pencils for the little guy. But she reminded us that we did forget to order for the little guy. The food was really good but wished I had more salad and the duck fat potatoes were more crunchy. There’s no salt or pepper grinders on the table and it wasn’t even offered. Needs a bit more finessing to the smaller details but overall am happy with the place. Great special watermelon cocktail although it’s on the sweeter side more than sour, but it’s my personal preference. I’d definitely come back here again.

First dinner date out in nearly two years after our daughter was born! We booked here and were not disappointed! The service by Eleanor was real and inviting. The food was exceptional and our steak cooked perfectly. Thank you Elenor for your service which made our experience one to remember. Your touch at the end made us feel so special. Great experience last night. My partner has her steak blue and I have mine rare, and for once we actually got what we asked for. Slim chance of getting that anywhere else in town, and we'd know.

Food was out of this world, service was top notch and a definite must visit if in Palmy.

Such a beautiful restaurant, very spacious so you don't feel crowded also loved the fireplace! All the staff we interacted with were friendly and amazing, especially our main waitress (didn't catch the name but she had red hair). When asked if we were the celebrating, we'd mentioned we were celebrating my new job and just before desert she brought out a little plate to congratulate me! Such a thoughtful gesture and very much appreciated. Overall the cocktails were amazing, food was cooked perfectly and tasted amazing and the staff were great too 😊

Could only get an early table but that suited us fine. All 5 of us had steak, all perfectly cooked. Delicious meal with great server who had a fab sense of humour and made sure we were well taken care of. Loved their house rose wine which is exclusive to the restaurant. Consistently brilliant as always.

Wow what an amazing place. Our first time there for our 14th wedding anniversary. The best steak ever and the service was amazing. We didn't have to wait for drinks and the staff were so friendly and efficient. The best part was when we got a special little surprise and that really made our day. Thank Aberdeen for making our 14th wedding anniversary so special. I also loved that when you were no open I was still able to make a booking online.

The food was great as I had a steak with Italian vegetables and garlic mashed potatoes. The service was great as well as the waitress served us was friendly and helpful. End of the night being full in the restaurant front of house miscalculated the meal costs other than that she apologised and accepted the apology as it doesn't matter as she did her best for what needed

Great food and service was prompt. Where I was seated was probably more public than I wanted it to be, but that’s understandable given how popular it is. Next time I will request a more private seating. The waitress was friendly and not over bearing so that made the whole experience welcoming and non instrusive. If you’re looking for a quality steak with crisp outer and a juicy tender and succulent center, then come here!!

A totally fabulous experience was had by everyone at our table. If I could, I'd award Aberdeen double stars. The service was excellent. The Spareribs were the best I have ever had, absolutely delicious as was the garlic bread. My steak was perfect as were the sides. Everyone's was. Dinner was followed by a lovely and unexpected treat. Thank you to the whole staff for a wonderful evening.

Best lamb rack 😂 eaten ever. Great service, amazing wine with reasonable price and atmosphere. Fire place and surrounding was fabulous.

Had the pork belly, there was a thick layer of salt on the skin that I had too scrape off and the side of vegetables were so under cooked that I couldn’t cut them. Told the waiter but they did nothing about it.

It’s all pretty quiet on the street around town on a Tuesday night. However it seems half the town half packed into this restaurant, it was buzzing. There’s both indoor up front & outdoor seating out the back. Feels quite cozy with a fire going out back. The steaks were not bad here. The boys all seem to go for the 500g T-bone or Op Rib. My smaller eye fillet was good for the price. Overall think everyone enjoyed their dinner.

First experience was disappointing. Had a table booked for 7.30pm one night. Turned up at 7.25 and told our table would be about 10 mins and to go have a drink at the bar while we wait. Standing at the bar having a drink until 7.45pm and hadnt been approached by any staff with any update on our table, so decided to pay and go. Informed the staff that we had a 7.30 booking but couldnt wait as it was getting too late to be seated, order and get our food. The only response was just an "ok". We will try again to eat here but only due to having gift vouchers to spend.

We came last Friday night for a birthday celebration. Our waiter was just lovely and so attentive!<br/>While on the pricey side, the meals are to a high standard, perfectly cooked and beautifully presented, so one doesn't mind digging deep on these occasions!<br/>I appreciated the seperate gluten free menu. Care was also taken with one of our groups other dietary requirements. <br/>If I may make one polite suggestion, it would be to have the mushroom sauce a little more chunky!<br/>Look forward to a return visit!

Went out for dinner here last night, was blown away by the food, it was beautiful! Everything about it lovely and the overall dining experience was amazing! <br/>We will definitely be back when we are in Palmerston again!

Went to Aberdeen on Broadway for dinner last night, walked in from the cold and the fire was going, cozy and warm. Loved the food here, wow! Dishes were well presented and very tasty, perfectly seasoned and delicious, didn’t need to reach for the salt. Will definitely go back! <br/><br/>We had the market fish of the day and the chicken. Ended our meal with the trio of ice-creams.

Polite service. Despite that the food is extremely expensive the food was in my opinion to die for. I wouldn’t usually go for what I got, but it was one out of two options they had that had chicken 😂 but it was delicious 😋. The appetisers took about 15 mins and our main took about 1hour later but that’s because someone in our table got the steak that took 35 mins to cook 😂 the desert was honestly one of the best sticky date puddings I have had ! I also got a lemon lime and bitters drink which was only $4.50 😍 and it was not to be dramatic, amazing.<br/>Would definitely go back, so RIP to my bank account.

I don't often give out 5s but in all honesty fantastic. Great service, great atmosphere and the best damn lamb I've ever had. My only mistake was to get an entree as they were huge as was my meal. Pricing is what you would expect for an establishment like this so because of this they don't lose points. If you're in Palmy check this place out.

My mum and went for dinner last night 26/05/17. The service was outstanding from front of house to the waitress. The meals were spot on and delicious and presently very well. This was my first time as I live in the Waikato. We ordered the bruschetta, calamari, bluff oysters for starters and entrees, pork belly and 200g eye fillet - these were cooled to perfection. Definitely no room for dessert. The only slight down fall was where we were sitting there was quite a draft from where it appeared an old opening was out the back and the lighting was not so good to read the menu. Other than that we could not fault. Totally recommend this place. Thank you.

We went Aberdeen on Broadway on Saturday night. Stood at the front waiting to be seated no one seemed interested in us. Very busy and too noisy. Staff wasn't too friendly either. I was going to leave a negative feedback until I we finished our meal. Award winning steak and roast pork. They were absolutely amazing. I would probably go there again but price is little too expensive for the atmosphere because it's not fining dining for sure but neither casual dining.<br/>Taste: 4.5/5<br/>Location 4.0/5<br/>Price: 3.5/5<br/>Service 2.0/5<br/>Portion: 4.0/5<br/>

Certainly one of the nicer restaurants in Palmerston North. Pricy, but food and service is always pretty good. Can't go past the steak- best in Palmerston North.

Dined here in the evening. Had to wait for a table but the staff kindly took our order for a drink and seated us in the bar lounge. Table was available 20 mins later.Ambience was energized and enjoyable...STAFF.. Helpful.. ..FOOD.. FABULOUS.. ordered pork belly and fish. Only negative.....Would like to see the portion sizes increased to match the price but other than that no complaints about the actual food. Cooked well and presented well...A very enjoyable night was had by us both.

I was taken here for dinner on Friday night. I don't live in palmy but when I come back I will def be coming here again!  The service was excellent and the food was lovely.  One of the best steaks I've ever had and the sides/sauce/butter options were great. Lots to chose from! Reasonable price which is even better. Could not fault this place at all.   I've struggled to find good food places in palmy since visiting the last few months, this was a great find.

We choose this restaurant for a graduation celebration. Excellent service all night for table of 10. A set 3 course made it easy and everyone was happy with their meals. Steaks were spot on. Good choice of wines. An enjoyable experience.

Came in for a coffee countless weeks ago and it was by far the best coffee in town, will definitely back sometime soon. keep it up Aberdeen!!!!

Great meals, fair service, well-themed decor and relaxing atmosphere. You're always greeted by friendly wait staff and they're pretty good at recommending drinks. It never takes long to decide which steak you'll have and the menu is quite straight forward. Our waiter last night was on-hand and our table was set up / cleared without a fuss. We barely noticed when wine glasses were empty either. <br/><br/>Everyone at our table enjoyed their meals and all the steaks were cooked to their liking. A few of us did however request more sauce for our steaks. I suppose Aberdeen get that quite often.<br/><br/>Previous times that we've dined at Aberdeen it has been for birthdays and it's nice to know that the food is consistent. I can imagine it's an undertaking trying to organise / time several meals to be served together. I'd say the service I received last night was fairly good. The bar-girl must be a bit hard of hearing as I didn't get the drink I ordered. But no worries...

Excellent food, excellent service but very overpriced. I wouldn't expect to pay this much in downtown Sydney or Melbourne for what we got which is a pity because everything else was first class

Would give Aberdeen six stars if it were applicable. My daughter and I came in on the 20th of March for dinner and could not find a single fault with our meals or our waitress, who was courteous, polite and had a very warm smile. Thank you for the fantastic experience Aberdeen, we will definitely be back again!

Went here for the first time today. I cannot express how good it was. My wife is gluten free, and they have the most extensive gluten free options I've seen. And the gluten free garlic bread. Yum. I had a 300g eye fillet with pepper and rosemary butter, which was lovely. My wife had the special which was whitebait fritters which she said was beautiful. I had a side of panko onion rings and she had garlic mushrooms. Both were really nice.<br/>The staff were very friendly and attentive, clearing plates quickly and offering more drinks as I finished them. <br/>I will be back next time i'm in Palmerston North since I can not find fault with any aspect of my visit.

I was told y a colleague that Aberdeen's was not so great for steaks. Having now visited three times (I always give a venue a chance to be good and bad) I have to say the best steak I have had in NZ in 7 years was at Aberdeen's. But, having said that, I only experienced that on one of my three visits. On the other two visits, the food was good, but not great, being either not cooked as ordered, or being not as tender as the cut would have indicated. <br/><br/>Another factor of Aberdeen Restaurant is the polished concrete floors, which while being architecturally interesting makes for very poor acoustics in large crowded spaces. My suggestion is if you are looking for a romantic venue, this is not the place to go. Even in their closed off side rooms, the noise can be oppressive.

Yes, it is as good as they say.<br/>My wife &amp; I had a Sat night meal here. <br/>Service first class, very pleasant staff, very warm relaxing atmosphere.<br/>We both had Angus Fillet steak (Hey - in a "steakhouse", that's what you do !!)<br/>Steak was very well cooked. Thick and meaty and Well... Yummmm. Salads just right. All around us were happy eaters.<br/><br/>This place serves the real thing. We are coming back for more soon.

Awesome food, Amazing staff and lovely warm atmosphere. The bruchetta is delicious, as are the ribs. My partners steak was cooked to perfection and my salmon was to die for. Will definitely be coming back.

From the time of booking to arrival the very friendly staff always willing to do more for our special celebration. Meals were excellent, wine suggestion was spot on and music was perfect.<br/><br/>The only observation is that the entrée is rather large unlike other places, a main meal in itself.

Very good steak, have enjoyed the OP rib on a number of occasions , always cooked exactly to my liking and always top quality product. The wine list is top notch and the wait staff professional and friendly. Only thing that was not 100% was the wait time, however its not really a venue you dine at if you are in a hurry. The beer selection could be expanded a little, seems like another boring DB pub.. But that withstanding fantastic food, will be back as soon as I have time.

Fantastic service...we were able to dine without a booking - had a booking at the restaurant next door, but as they had falsely told us they had wheelchair access when they did not (only if you could walk 2 steps or have a manual chair...not wheelchair accessible!!!) so we went into Aberdeen, had the most spectacular food, outstanding service, all enjoyed in a wonderful atmosphere for a price I will happily pay again. Our thanks for such a lovely experience to erase the embarrassing one I endured thanks to the next door restaurant's false information. CHEERS ABERDEEN, compliments to the chefs &amp; staff :) We shall return.

Best dining experience I've ever had. The staff are very attentive, the food is to die for, and the restaurant has a nice warm and welcoming ambiance. If only I could afford to eat there more often...

I love this place, Dinner last Saturday night was delicious meal and lovely wait staff. Got talking to the Young girl on reception who made a fuss over fitting us in and making us feel special, apparently most Saturday nights are like this! <br/><br/>Great place will be back

We went for dinner there last night, its the fourth time I have been there, the service was great! The food was absolutely scrummy!! My only disappointment was I ordered the creamy mashed potato with my meal, and alas...it wasn't at all creamy...<br/>it was barely warm, solid lump of mashed potato and it was so salty I actually couldn't eat it.<br/><br/>The rest of my meal was just divine.. it is the first and last time I will order the 'mash" as a side...<br/>but the steak was heavenly and the mushrooms and everything else was wonderful, thoroughly enjoy and recommend dining at Aberdeen!

It sounds strange, but I ate the best vegetarian meal of my life here. I had been dragged to this steakhouse by friends who didn't remember that I was vege, and had resigned myself to eating a salad. But the chef made me something up on the spot, and it was gorgeous! Roast veges with a creamy sauce, layered in-between camembert cheese. Yum yum! <br/><br/>Looking at my friend's plates, the meals seemed too large. But they seemed to enjoy their food.

I recently visited Aberdeen with a group of 8. Very friendly service upon arrival and lovely atmosphere. Others at my table ordered the steak, which they enjoyed and which looked great if you are in to large portions with simple accompaniments.<br/><br/>However, my $35 main was quite disappointing. I ordered the chicken dish, which included roast potatoes, brie cheese and mushroom. The chicken was dry and over cooked and the potatoes, which were the majority of the dish, were undercooked. When approached by staff questioning if our meals were ‘ok’ I stated that mine was ok but that my potatoes were under cooked. The staff member then said ‘ok, well enjoy your meals’ and walked away. I did not expect that response and was quite disappointed by it.<br/><br/>If I enjoyed large portions and loved steak I would consider returning.<br/>

Walked in there with my family, experienced a warm friendly greeting, with no reservations they quickly found us a good table. I had the fish and chip meal, the crumbed fish was ok and the gourmet chips were very nice. My colleague had the steak sandwich meal which was to die for. Overall the food was good and quick, with a good amount of proportions. Finished it off with dessert that took awhile but it was well worth it. Would recommend.

This is a V cool restaurant And i was so happy to see it bursting at the seams with life when I arrived a few Wednesdays ago, quite a comparison to 2 years prior when we were the only ones in the place! <br/>The menu is quite large with a lot of options as well as the steaks, I have only dined off the steak side however. This visit my meal was pretty good, the highlight was def the potato gratin, the steak was a touch overdone but not bad enough to send back. <br/>I would give this restaurant 5 stars if there was more value for the money you spend. I think the steaks are fairly priced but the starters and especially breads are way over priced. Make sure you have a full bank account before dining here. Also the eclectic choice of music was quite loud. But generally a nice time.

After recently moving to Palmy I have been visiting restaurants/cafes on friends reccomendations. I had heard great things about the steaks at Aberdeen, so took my partner along for our anniversary. After waiting 20 minutes before being offered a drink or a menu, I had to go up to the bar to get them. We then waited another 25 minutes before our order was taken!! We went straight to mains as we had run out of time for entrees, a shame as I liked the look of a few of them. Our meals came out and once again we were not offered any drinks, or asked how our meals were, NOTHING! My medium rare steak was very underdone, I didnt bother to complain as my partner ate it! We left very disappointed after coming in after such a rave review, and chose to continue on elsewhere for dessert. I will not be hurrying back but I will come again and hopefully get to see what the hype is about!

We went as a family group to celebrate a birthday.The starters were absolutely delicious and the main meals were brilliant.The service could have been a bit better but they were having a busy night.The only downside was a very loud cackling woman at the table next to us who had far too much to drink and was only subdued when her own meal arrived.I would definitely go back.

Went here with my girlfriend in 2010. The steak was really good, nothing wrong with it. The staff were really friendly and asked a few times during the evening how we were doing and if everything was ok. A very nice night that is for sure! Would love to go again sometime.

I had the prime rib rare and it was seriously melt in your mouth. Compliments to the chef! Just letting everyone know what a wonderful place this is.<br/><br/>The venue for a wedding, service and reception, along with the atmosphere is simply fantastic, the food is superb and words can not accurately describe the amazing service. The service was equally amazing from the oldest of the guests to the youngest (only 20months) it looked like the little one had her own waiting staff all four of them! <br/><br/>Thank you so much for making a special day just so easy and so fantastic.<br/><br/>There is nothing that could be improved upon it was all simply wonderful.

Ate here for the 1st time - Excellent<br/><br/>We were four adults &amp; 2 children aged 12 &amp; 10.<br/><br/>Excellent choice on Menu &amp; its not just Steak, catered for the children with so called smaller portions which were still generous.<br/><br/>Its great to eat in a restaurant where the kids don't just get offered a piece of fish or a burger.<br/><br/>Extensive dessert menu<br/><br/>would recommend for a nice evening out, special occasions or a treat.<br/><br/>Will be back for sure

Great service. Wasn't as full as I would have liked as the portions were quite small. scotch fillet was cooked to perfection and I would definately dine there again ONLY on special occasions due to pricing.

One of the best European style restaurants in Palmerston North.<br/>The food is excellent. The staff are attentive and knowledgeable and the prices are reasonable for the quality of food and standard of service.<br/>There are also a wide range of beers and whiskies to choose from.

As an Aucklander in Palmerston North for work I struggled to find a nice place for a good meal. I tried Aberdeen on a recommendation and was very impressed with the steak menu. The potatoes au gratin were delicious and the accompanying blue cheese sauce was great. The mini dessert cocktails matching each of the desserts is a fun idea! Service is adequate. Decor is lovely.

Found the staff to be very accommodating especially considering we had a little baby.<br/>Our order was taken promptly and again the staff were very nice.<br/>Unfortunately for us our meal was cut short by our baby and we only managed starters which were absolutely amazing!<br/>Would not hesitate to return if we were in the area again.

We have eaten at Aberdeen several times and found the food to be average and service awful and choose not to go back. We love the layout , decor and ambiance of Aberdeen. New head chef IJ has moved in and we thought great that will change things. Wrong! I selected the OP Rib medium rare, it came rare almost blue, I sent it back. 20minutes later ( my partner has eaten most of her meal)it came back re-cooked, yep re-cooked and tough as, The "creamy garlic" mash was insipid and watery, the zucchini was bland and looked like it came from last left overs, the mushroom sauce was stone cold. Honestly it was crap, absolutely appalling.<br/>Service, what service - soon as we complained they did not want to know us and left us sitting. Chef needs a bloody good kick in the backside, it ain't that hard to cook a good steak especially when you specialise in it. I didn't eat my meal so I didn't pay for it which was begrudgenly accepted by the duty manager.<br/>Would I go back, yes but only for a drink.

I have dined at Aberdean many many times. The team there have been working hard and have succeeded in facilitating Palmerston North with a truly great dining experience. The service is well executed, wine list is good covering all the bases, cocktails and back bar excellent, the meals under executive chef I.J. are very well executed, steaks cooked spot-on, great creme brulee; just because they are marketed as a steak house your should not avoid the ala carte menu - these dishes are highly deserving of exploration. <br/>Aberdean caters to very large groups as well as the most intimate of romantic of occasions.<br/>I look forward to Aberdean being awarded Restaurant of the Year this coming year, as well as Joe at the bar for his skills with cocktails, also I.J deserves Best Chef too. Good luck - not needed I think.<br/>ps - Aberdean may look flash but the prices are v.reasonable. Oh, free BYO on Sunday, but I didn't say anything ;)

Yum yum. I had the whitebait fritters and i loved it!! Also the creme brulee is to die for. Service great.
