A cute little cafe with an awesome plant based menu. I had their delicious double down and was super impressed with the flavours and texture of the fricken aka "chicken"! Rivals the best plant based restaurants I've visited in Auckland and overseas.
As an added bonus, the chef came out to have a chat and not only is everything made from scratch, but they're his own recipes! Kinda bummed that means they won't be available anywhere else. Definitely plan to be back when I'm back in town.
Friendly staff. Delicious vegan food that's reasonably priced. Veg Lasagne that was gluten free with side salad $11.50. Variety of cabinet and menu food. They don't charge for non dairy milk in hot drinks. One of the best vegan places I've been to. Great location right near the plaza

I wish I had a photo of what I had because it was beautifully presented. I ordered a vegan/gluten free brownie and a banana nut smoothie. They were both really nice, especially the brownie! I really appreciate that despite focusing on making vegan food, they also cater for gluten free people. The lady behind the counter was lovely and offered to take photos on the sofa with me and my friend and offered us free treats. It was a lovely afternoon! Next time I come back to Palmerston North, I will definitely be back. Thank you xx

Love the food, love that the menu/cabinet food changes, love the service, and love that they're happy to have behaved dogs inside too! My partner and I love coming in and not having to think which foods could we ask to be veganized like other places. We especially love that they're not all talk and ACTION what they stand for. Don't give a sh*# to the naysayers - we are 100% supporters of your vegan and zero waste standards in your eatery!
As a company wellness event our team went to Barley for a tasty selection of burgers and nuggets (all plant based) many of our team were surprised at the flavour texture and quality of the ingredients. We were also kindly informed of the health, wellbeing and nutritional benefits of a low to no meat diet. Great evening and a lovely host
Good range of vegan and gluten free meals at decent prices. Food came out quickly and exceeded expectations. They were happy to substitute items out to work with our low fodmap requirements as well.
AMAZING SELECTION OF VEGAN FOOD! I love that alt milks do not cost extra and that my dairy-free and vegan friends can come here and literally have anything! Thoroughly enjoyed their nachos back in 2019.

The gourmet wow factor is present at Barley. What a cool little cafe! Delicious and fresh, this is a Vegan paradise. Barley is Eco-conscious and aims for zero waste and it's dog friendly. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, Barley is a winner.
