Review Thai Lagoon - Paraparaumu

Several people we know recommended this restaurant & we are so glad we went. First of all the service was outstanding and second the food was out of this world good. And my partner doesn't usually eat Thai and he loved the food here. The atmosphere of this restaurant is really pretty & the delivery of food was so quick. I have a feeling we will be back at this restaurant sometime in the future. We were really impressed and highly recommend this restaurant to anyone!

I have eaten there on many occasions and never been disappointed. Their Massaman curry remains up there as one of the best I have ever encountered in any restaurant. I was so impressed with our meal on Saturday it was time to give credit where credit is well due. The entrée Tom Kai soup , which I have tried before, was sensational. A perfect balance of sweet and sour, coconut, subtle lemon grass, mushroom and chicken. My wife and I were supposed to be "sharing" it but it was so delicious the "sharing" became a bit intense and next time we will be forced to have one each to maintain matrimonial bliss!. My duck curry was superb with lychees, pineapple and grapes and yet again a perfect balance of flavours. The cashew stir fry had smoky wok flavours and intense, well balanced sauce.. Service was very pleasant and attentive and I could not fault the entire experience. It is my go to Thai restaurant for entertaining. It is always consistently good and well worthy of a 5 star rating. BYO is a nice plus too.Very well done team.

Great choice for Asian cuisine in the Raumati/Paraparaumu area. Service is good. Food is good. Beer and wine list reasonably priced. If you’re used to Asian food in Asia you can ask for “Thai hot” but I recommend you request extra chopped chilli.

Hands down best restaurant on the Coast. Extraordinary menu, exquisite sauces, fabulous food, wonderful staff, impressive management. Be adventurous in your choices. While delicious Pad Thai and Nasi Goreng are available try something else and be prepared to be dazzled. Can't praise them highly enough!!! And no, I know noone who works there.

Food was delicious and the front desk was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. I ordered via phone and took her recommendation. The soy sauce noodles were tasty and there were lots of perfectly cooked vegetables (sorry no images). Just order extra rice (not included) if you like. <br/>Also prices are a little different - about two dollars cheaper on the mains! <br/>Definitely would go again.

The food was delicious and the service was excellent. The friendly staff fully explained the spicy/hot dishes on the menu so we could then select a dish to our taste. Would definitely recommend this restaurant and we will visit again when next visiting this area.

All four of our group were impressed with the decor, food, service and value for money. Totally enjoyable experience. Very repeatable.

Went to Thai Lagoon based on the reviews of others and was not disappointed. Went at 7:30pm without a booking but they still managed to find us a table. The wait staff were friendly and served us quickly. We advised that we were on a time restraint as we were also going to a movie. That wasn’t a problem and all of the food came out within 15 minutes ordering. The food itself was great! We got a few entrees and a main to share:<br/> <br/>Prawn and Scallop Skewers<br/>Satay Chicken <br/>Mussels <br/>Sizzling Trio Meat & Veges<br/><br/>All were very good! Would highly recommend! <br/>

Had both takeaways and sit in from Thai lagoon and so far they haven’t disappointed! Tried the mei goreng duck, pad Thai, satay chicken, Thai green curry and a few others. Kiwi hot is definitely spicy so if you’re not one for spice the medium would be my go too! Always super flavoursome and friendly staff. A bit pricey for takeaways but yum yum yum

I had a takeaway last night, it was disgusting.  Watery sauce. hardly any vegetables, with dried up pork. I would not recommend any takeaways and will never go there again

Tasty food, excellent customer Service. Gets busy in the weekend so make sure to book in advance to avoid disappointment. Will make this place a regular dine in and out option

Delicious options from a wide-ranging menu including kids' choices. Servings are generous (we two could have split one entree and one main with rice and would have had enough). Chef mixes spices to perfection, delivering finely-crafted flavoursome dishes.

Really good thai food in a lovelly setting. First of all staff were great, really friendly and fantastic with our kids.<br/><br/>Food was great too, really good flavours, fresh ingredients and heaps of veggies. Only comment I'd make is that 'medium' is not very spicy. It didn't have the kick I was expecting, so in future I will opt for hot.Dessert was not a strong point. A microwaved chocolate cake and some ice cream, but it didn't take anything away from the great entrees and mains.

Very good Thai food.  All choices were flavoursome, Massaman beef curry was lovely , crispy pork curry was very good also.  Takeaways cooked promptly.

Our favourite Thai restaurant in Kapiti. We took two Thai teachers here and they loved the authentic Thai food. Great attentive service and delicious food. Love it.

Had the most delicious yellow curry, chicken, medium. Perfectly balanced sauce, veges beautifully cooked. Only complaint, not enough pumpkin with the vege combo in the curry.

Good service, great food and portion size was perfect - LOTS of meat 👌 got quite busy so may pay to book, you can also use your entertainment book gold card! Will most likely be back to bring my mum as it's a good excuse to do a day trip up the coast (:

Yum thai, however had their red curry twice, once medium which i would say was hot and once mild which still had a kick. I like spicy but some might not. Couple dishes iv had have been average but others enjoyable. Will continue to dine here

Thai Lagoon do the best Thai I've ever had, it's so fresh and tastes very healthy. I think it's reasonably priced and I always think I should go there more often because whenever I do I'm so impressed. I highly recommend the vegetarian Panang curry

Just had a wonderful meal, very busy for a Tuesday but the food was still on time. Great food wonderful service ???? I highly recommend it for the next date night or family function.

If you get the chance...try Thai Lagoon. Hands down THE BEST Thai you will find. <br/>We have tried almost everything on the menu and can recommend each and every dish.<br/>The staff are lovely, The take-away is perfect, the restaurant is nice but more importantly the food is to die for.

A few locals said the food here was really good so I tried it and have become a lil bit obsessed! Its actually really really good!!!<br/>I'm making my way through the menu, I can recommend the Pad Tahi its the best I've had.<br/>I'm on my way back there soon for my 3rd dinner in a week from them oops!!

Have had the pleasure of dining at Thai Lagoon on two occasions and the food and service was exceptional. Sadly my third dining experience for Mother's day was a huge disappointment due to very slow service (and the restaurant wasn't even full). Whilst the entrees came out relatively quickly, it took 1 hour and 20 minutes for our mains to arrive and other patrons who arrived later than us were served first. Perhaps they were just having an 'off' night or maybe their take-away service was taking priority over their in-house diners. I will go back again, as the food is great and I just hope the service will improve.

Not many Thai restaurants offer Nam Tok. Which is strange considering it is a Thai dish! Consequently whenever I see it on the menu at a Thai restaurant, I order it. <br/>Thai Lagoon does not disappoint! Fantastic food, and the heat settings are definitely authentic. <br/>I notice a few people mention the service. I have always found it to be good. I'm more interested in the food though.<br/>Comfortable surroundings with good acoustics mean you can enjoy your meal and your company undisturbed.

I eat here occasionally and did so with my partner last Wednesday. The food was excellent as usual with a fine selection available from the menu. The setting was peaceful and fitting. Service was good, not overwhelming (although I have yet to find great or awesome service in NZ). Price was reasonable, and very reasonable considering the inflated prices being charged in some restaurants. I recommend this reataurant as one of the best on the Kapiti Coast and Raumati Beach.

I have only one more Thai place to try in Kapiti, but I can say that this is the best by far! The service is quiet and adverage, but you get the service you need! The food is fantastic everytime

Very disappointing after reading previous reviews. The wait staff understood little English &amp; managed to leave 1 of our party of 8 without an entree or main. Asking for coffee we were told 'No coffee'. no explanation. The food was nice, though some did not receive the degree of hotness they asked for. There were only 3 other small groups there, so there was no excuse for such poor service. The menu on the window was outdated, the prices dearer on the inside menu.<br/>With 3 other restaurants nearby, it would not be my choice again.

Best Thai ever. We arrived unannounced during a busy period, they seated us after rearranging the schedule, fussed over us and made lovely food. The chicked meals were especialy good. Great service, great food, great people.

The BYO charge per person was very expensive however the food was divine.<br/><br/>I had the jungle curry and it was wonderful.<br/>The food was well priced for the excellent standard provided.<br/><br/>The restaurant was very clean and the wait staff were very friendly.<br/><br/>I will be looking forward to my next visit.

Have recently moved down from Auckland and this is the first restaurant we have visited. Service is amazing, venue is very clean and very well set out. Chairs are super comfy and staff are very polite and friendly. Meals were very good! Desserts are very good too. Highly recommend this place, Would go back to eat here again.

I had the pleasure of dining here last week. Have never been interested in exotic food and was very hesitant about dining at this restaurant. We were greeted by pleasant staff at reception. Enjoyed a Banquet of amazing dishes. I was absolutely amazed at the quality of food. Great, fresh, clean tasting food that left you feeling satisfied but not bloated. Entree, Main and desert served promptly. Very enjoyable experience will definitely recommend to friends and cant wait to go back. Only downfall i think which restricted me from giving a five star rating was the table was cleared so promptly it was almost like they wanted rid of us. Would of been nice to relax a little between courses. However this wouldnt stop me from returning, hopefully soon as their are a few signature dishes ive been craving for.

This place is great. The staff are very friendly and always have a smile on their faces. Especially the big fella on the till!<br/><br/>I have eaten here maybe 6 times now and every time its been excellent. The best thing i have had so far is the paneng (sp?) curry - wonderful flavours and excellent every time. Last time I had the Mussamun curry and it was also pretty good to be fair.<br/><br/>The roti with peanut sauce is always outstanding too.<br/><br/>Probably my favourite non kiwi food in Kapiti so far. Excellent and will be back regularly.
