Review Starfish - Paraparaumu

I have heard good reviews about this shop that stirred up my curiosity. It did not disappoint! Their menu was well priced and the battered fish I got was superb. Perfect balance of fish and batter, not to mention it's crispness. Their chips were done quite well with the outside fried to a crisp and the inside nice and fluffy. They sell an array of fresh seafood as well and take orders in advance. They have a few benches outside the shop where you can enjoy your meal fresh. Definitely will come back for more, and if you are not from Kāpiti, this is worth the drive.

Decor may be a bit lacking but the freshness of the seafood and the value of the fish and chips speaks for itself. Recommend the fried mussels and scallops.

Haven't been here for over 8 years and it still our favourite fish and chips in the world!!! Don't let the lack of decor fool you..what they prepare and cook is worth the wait!!! Terakihi, Butterfish, scallops, mussels, raw fish, chips...amazing

Great seafood chowder @$10 punnet, enough for two. Variety of fresh fish, generally cheaper than supermarket price & you can choose your fillets to takeaway or have cooked. Hot chips are really good.

Just fantastic to go and select your fillet from the fresh fish and have it cooked .. plus the team is always friend.. great prices and quality

I will never cook fish again now that I've tasted this beautiful food. The freshest most perfectly cooked seafood we have ever had..thank you SO much! This has now become our favourite go-to every Monday night. Delicious!

Best value fish & chips I've had in ages. Fresh and comparatively cheap. Only issue is the wait time, but that's just because of its popularity with the locals. Definitely phone in your order.

The best hot chips ive ever had for a very long time Not greasy, no salt, thick potato chips. Also the raw fish in cream, amazing!! Just like mine. Worth spending your money here folks. 110% satifaction

Starfish Kapiti is my favorite fish & chip shop. I recommend you try it too. This fish in chip shop was recently taking over by new owners, and after a settling in process they have brought there quilty of fish n chips and service up to where they were with the previous owners. Nice fresh fish and friendly staff.

It's a takeaway so one can't rate atmosphere but the food and service is exemplary. The chicken burgen is fresh juicy and tangy with spicy fries. It's great value. The only problem is you end up eating it too quickly 😉

This is an exceptionally good fish and chip shop. 5 stars is not enough. I bought a fish, 2 battered mussels, 2 battered scallops, and chips. Overall batter on everything was good. Not doughy as it can be on small wet items like mussels, it still had a brittle crunch. The mussels were proper fresh ones out of a shell, not a pottle. I could still taste the sea on them, they were delicious! Same with the scallops, and served properly with a full roe. Overall everything also had a crisp non greasyness to it, the news print paper was pretty much clean after the meal. I highly recommend this place, it is a proper fish and chip shop. They do not serve burgers, toasties, fried rice or deep fried mars bars. They serve exceptionally fresh sea food and bloody good chips. It's lovely! 💕

Bought 2 fresh fillets of gurnard from the cabinet and the store crumbed and cook them for me to perfection. The best fish and chips I have ever had. Friendly staff and a picnic table outside if you want to “dine-in”.
