They are very busy and it runs like a well oiled machine. We got a few oysters, seafood platter for 1 and sea bass with risotto. Oysters were good, platter and sea bass were delicious- my risotto was incredible!
If we are ever back in Portree, we’d come back for sure.
Make reservations ahead of time! I made reservations 2 weeks prior, however, depending on when you go, you might need to give yourself more time.
The waitress was very good with her recommendations. I had the soup of the day, with sea bass with wild mushroom risotto. To top it off, I had the sticky toffee pudding which was amazing. Great dining experience, great food, and great service.
A must go!! Great money for value, delicious food served quickly!
LUNCH is WALK-INS ONLY, recommend to arrive at opening time if you want to avoid wiring. They opened at 12:15pm instead of 12pm on the day we visited. Around 4-5 parties arrived before opening, last table filled at 12:30pm, but some people have finished and started leaving at 12:45pm and more people could be seated.
Seafood platter - no langoustines on the day we visited but given 4 scallops instead. The salmon steak was HUGE and DELICIOUS! Sea bass was great as well!
Reservations - we made a reservation a week in advance (I recommend because the restaurant is VERY small and they almost never have spots day of) for a Tuesday. Our reservation was at 9, but we popped in earlier around 6pm and asked if they could call us if anything opens up earlier and they were happy to. We got seated at 8pm which was a great surprise.
Food - Sea platter was phenomenal - we had it with mussels, salmon, and scallops (that day they weren't serving langoustines). Mussels and scallops were some of the best I've ever had. Also had the Sea bass (a special), cooked really well over a lovely risotto. The seafood portions were so big that we left food which we almost never do! We also had the Manhatten chowder (good seafood soup). For dessert I highly recommend the Scottish cranachan, it's pretty sweet but very light. Spent around 100 pounds on two starters, two entrees, two desserts, and one taster of whiskey.
A lovely and quaint spot, be sure to make a booking as it has few tables and fills up quickly. The sticky toffee pudding and seafood platter is excellent! I especially loved the scallops.
Came here for dinner and it was a delight! The hype is real -- they have tasty dishes that comes out quick. Service and atmosphere is average, though and the serving portions are quite small so recommend to order more than your usual. Also, make sure to book in advance or stand in line before 15-30mins they open if you want to secure a table because the place is tiny and it gets full rather quickly.
Every single one of the guests was throughly enjoying their meal here. Most of all those who had ordered the seafood platter. I had the soup of the day - perfectly balanced flavours followed by the hake risotto ( a special) which was excellent, with different types of mushrooms in the risotto. Cheerfully loud, but easy to follow our own conversations as the restaurant doesn’t have many tables. We were very grateful to the staff for squeezing us in even though we had no reservation.
A bit pricey. Be ahead of time or some seafood might run out. The dessert is nice. Good service.
This was the perfect spot after a long day on the road from Edinburgh. It's tough getting a reservation but worth it. Food was delicious and portions were good. It's too bad they are no longer serving langoustines with the seafood platter but that was replaced with a few pieces of scallops (like 4 or 5).
Such a lovely and cozy restaurant!
Even if it was late evening, they welcomed us kindly without a reservation and the kitchen was worth the wait.
The dishes were delicious and huge; the kings prawns and mussels were so fresh that you can taste the sea.
If you pass by Portree you need to stop here to try the local delicacies.
Highly recommended
