Takeaway buffet smorgasbord is great value for money. Reasonably priced with a broad selection of dishes available and everything was delicious! Staff were friendly enough (it was a short exchange so I can't really review too much here). I'd definitely go back again.
I love their chicken wings!!! There are alot of these kind of chinese food in NZ but this particular one has the best taste ever. They use long grain to make their fried rice which makes it nicer than other places. This is the only place i would go to eat in Rotorua. Good service, friendly staff and reasonable price.

On the streets between the alcoholics and kids begging for change, the door to Canton Restaurant slides open. A small foyer wallpapered with'specials' is lit by a neon blue fly trap. A teenage counter girl greets you in broken English. A man in gang colours waits. A hastily scrawled sign declares the bathrooms are locked for the hours that schools finish for the day. Who could guess what prompted that decision?
To the side of the takeaway counter is seating for forty. Broken tables are replaced with what's available. Nothing matches and it doesn't matter. If you want to taste the delicacies of Guangzhou call your travel agent. This is Kiwi-Chinese takeout at its best.
It was half five and if you've been up for four hours and sober for less, this is where you come to get yourself right. We paid $16.80 for the buffet. Lifesaving coke was extra. We took our seats and watched.
The poor and downtrodden streamed through filling up containers from the buffet. At least 6 staff rotated through the presses; topping up the popular dishes, cleaning up after the masses. Maybe it's taste, maybe it's price, but no sooner has it left the wok and it's gone. Endlessly fresh dinner.
Dessert however? Forget the stopwatch, grab a calendar. Yesterday had someone stood where I stand, thinking the same thing about the same Pavlova?
I grabbed morsel of chicken to toss to the dog sleeping on the wino outside. He deserves it more than me.

Ate 'dine in' here today for the first time in years. I remember it being good, and was so pleased to find out that it is still the case. Over the course of our meal we watched the staff regularly come out cleaning down the smorgasboard and refilling it with tasty, hot food! If you are looking for a fancy night out, then this is not the place for you. But if you are just wanting a quick, cheap, tasty and well cooked meal then I would definitely recommend Canton Restaurant dine in or takeaway!
whenever i buy Chinese takeaway i buy from here because they try to squeeze in as much as they can into the plastic containers as they can! their food tastes good as well, especially the sweet and sour pork fried rice and nasi goreng fried rice :)
I love this place. I'm always greeted with a smile and a friendly attitude. Prices are super good for what you get, I can never finish it. The food is honestly so delicious fish and chips never disappoint and neither does the smorgasbord

Big portions, with friendly and helpful service. We had the sweet bowl which had a great mix of ingredients for only 13$. The food could have been less oily and salty though. Overall, good place for takeaway or the 21$ buffet to eat in.
Great place with a wide range of foods, with the either option of eating in at their buffet or just ordering as takeaway. Would recommended for travellers or tourists like me from Auckland. Competitive prices and great small eats.
