Review Joe's Eatery - Takapuna

Wonderful atmosphere with staff that seemed to really care. Best coffee art I’ve seen for a while and fast service for the quality of food gotten. Really feels like a local cafe with regulars who come back for all the right reasons. Me and a friend were looking for breakfast while staying in the city and this was absolutely the right choice for us!

If you’re in Takapuna and searching for a delicious meal, make your life easier and head straight to Joe’s Eatery. The ingredients are fresh and the staff is very nice, and incredibly accommodating. On that last point, Joe’s is a refreshing standout for Auckland: They are ready, willing and able to make you almost any dish you desire- and of course they’ll adjust their regular menu offerings. Everything ordered for our table was delicious. And we got to sit outside with all the sunshine!

What an amazing place. Not large but exquisite. The food is varied and delicious. The drinks menu is also eclectic. The host Joe, is so welcoming and hospitable. A must visit in Auckland.

What a fabulous Bistro just by the beach in Takapuna. Joe is the perfect host, pleasant, and very engaging. The food is fabulous. I loved my Paratha. My husband had Joe's jar which was great. We would definitely recommend it.

Relaxed and cosy atmosphere and attentive staff. A visit to Joe's Eatery is a must if you are ever around Takapuna. You won't regret it, detail and service is key, and Joe executes this superbly. An amazing spot to grab a bite, relax and have a checky drink. Joe is friendly, personable and very clearly loves his establishment. Gave me a recommendation on how to eat the dish I ordered and OMG it was amazing. The coffee here is definitely the best in takapuna. Joe has an extensive liquor collection that he's very knowledgeable about. Had a beautiful citrus gin and lemon soda tonic and can't wait to go back and try more. If you're in takapuna, you must give this place a try!

5 of us went here for early Mother's Day lunch. The booking was easy to make and they do suggest, as they are a small cafe to make your food and drink order as you make your booking. The menu is small but flexible. You can make up your own platter and pasta is made to order. The food was excellent! The service was beyond expectation. Well done Joe's Eatery, we'll be back!

Very calm atmosphere, very friendly staff, good foods, coffee, liquor. Joe listens to my taste and chooses the best drink. Thank you for every single time. Come to enjoy your coffee and food with solo or with friends or family or business. Recommend this place!

It’s lovely here! Incredible service. Delicious food. Possibly the nicest gin and tonic I’ve ever had (and I seem to have had quite a few over the last 10 years lol).

I had a really pleasant experience with my partner at Joe's Eatery. The staff here are so nice and welcoming. I got the $18.00 chicken sandwich and my partner got the $18.00 Creamy Mushrooms. We also got a side of Polenta fries which was a bit pricey but well worth the price. The food was fantastic and was served to us in a short time. They also serve Irish coffees here which is not easy to come by. I highly recommend getting this if you need a fresh kick to your day. All and all, a really nice experience here and would definitely checking this place out for breakfast/brunch.

Went on a Saturday afternoon around 2 pm no one else is in the cafe. We said we are not hungry but was still suggested to get the full portion. After eating the dishes, we were told the eftpos machine is not working and if we have cash even I said I can pay via Zomato gold. Overall an awkward experience.

This place is literally unbeatable! The best breakfast and coffee in Auckland by a million miles!! I could never eat anywhere else after going here!

Delicious food reasonably price. The owner Joe is very friendly and makes you feel comfortable. We ordered fish and chips and bruschetta and by far this is the best fish and chips i have ever had. Friendly place, easy to locate. Highly recommend.

Very nice and cozy cafe. <br/><br/>The pork belly did not tend to be too fatty and tend to be chewy with sweet potato mashes as sauce. Seasoning is perfect. <br/><br/>The lamb petit in the burger was juicy and the bread did not turn to gooey too.<br/><br/>Gift with two brownies in bite size topped with espresso syrup and mint. I would say this is absolutely a star. Very balanced and brought out the best of a brownie. <br/><br/>The cook has her food in right balance, very thoughtful. I will definitely come again.

Cute and tidy little premises at a very nice location in Takapuna. Joe was very engaged and interacted well with customers. It was a unique menu (with a few dishes a fusion of European and Indian cuisine) which worked well together: good flavours and appearance. Definitely worth a visit!

Friendly host, happy to help with wine choices and well matched with the food. The samosas were great tasting and light pastry

Ordered lamb burger and creamy mushroom. Lamb patty was flavoursome and chips were of high standard. Creamy mushroom came with two large eggs too which were cooked to perfection. Bread slices looked different to the white bread in other photos here but I preferred mine better as it’s more nutritious I guess.<br/><br/>The only downside was the soy flat white that I had. Coffee wasn’t smooth at all and had a sharp bitterness to it. <br/><br/>Overall a good experience. Will come back for food but not for coffee.

3.5 ⭐️. Half size creamy mushrooms ($12) and Buckwheat ricotta pancakes ($16). Tasty, good quality food. Friendly service. The almond chai latte was nice but lukewarm. We got 1 + 1 with zomato gold which was a bonus as the portion sizes were unfortunately small.

Fantastic food and service. Loved that the menu has a twist and isn't your stock standard breakfast. The Paratha was delicious, fresh and flavoursome. What I love most is that Joe's reflects their values, connection, kindness and sustainability.

What a beautiful place. Just the right mix of ambience, friendly staff, interesting menu and excellent wines and craft beers. A definite return and highly recommended.

On a lovely sunny Sunday we went to a recent addition to the great array of cafes and restaurants in central Takapuna - Joes Cafe. We had read many very good reviews on Zomato and decided to try it out ourselves. It is a small venue with a few tables inside and couple of tables outside. We were very warmly welcomed by the owner and since it was a beautiful day we sat outside. The menu offers some very exiting options and we went for the Pork Belly Bites ($18.50) and the Twisted Eggs Bene with mushrooms ($19.00).<br/>The pork was beautifully presented on the plate, on a bed of curried cauliflower purée, and although one piece was on the dry side overall it was delicious, and well enhanced by the accompaniments. The Twisted Eggs Bene was also well presented, tasty and went down very well. Having the option of paratha as a base, and a very flavoursome salsa on the side, made the dish very good indeed, and somewhat different from the usual (hence the "twisted" in the title). The Kumara Rosti was missing in action which was a shame, as I love Kumara! <br/>Regardless we will be back to try other dishes.

Very friendly staff. But the portions were a bit small for the cost of the food. Tasted like your average cafe. Nothing bad, but nothing stand out.

What a lovely gem of a place in Takapuna. Walking into Joe's Eatery is like stepping into a warm, friendly home. The staff are so welcoming and the food is amazing. What I also love is that you can half portions of some of the menu items - which is great if you're wanting something a bit lighter. Most importantly - the coffee is excellent, as well as the wine! Highly recommend stopping by and treating yourself - you won't regret it!

Friendly staffs and great chef. They come and asked about our food and all the requests were met. We even received a complementary espresso brownie, it was so delicious!

$19 for four pieces of a pork belly dish...however cabinet food are well priced. Friendly and open minded owner, will try other food next time. Thank you for looking after your customer so well.

Fabulous!  Amazing service and delicious food all round.  I had the pasta which was better than I've had at most Italian restaurants and was made from scratch.  Highly recommend.

Ordered egg bene on Naan with bacon, had no idea that it can be on Naan, the taste was really good. However for a person like me the portion was really less but still enjoyed the breakfast and some good company. The ambience is nice, clean place. Will rate 4/5 .<br/>Kudos to the team 🤘

I came to Jo’s eatery with my partner and small dog and we were greeted with a huge smile from Jo! Amazing coffee, best in Takapuna for sure!! We then had an amazing breakfast and sat by the beautiful warm flame outside!! Jo also gave us a free taster of some amazing brownies!! I would 100% recommend to everyone, beautiful cafe and wonderful people!

Fantastic, tasty food at very reasonable prices. The owner Joe is very friendly and accommodating, and they open in the evenings too, very handy to have a drink before a show at the Bruce Mason

As soon as you enter this cosy eatery you feel warm and welcome. The coffees made by K are outstanding, definitely best coffee in the area. Their food - with an Indian "hint' here and there - is delicious and well presented, surely you will find options for everyone's taste inside the menu. Wines, spirits and beers are available. I strongly recommend this place and I will definitely return there.

I popped into Joes Eatery for the first time the other day. It was a very warm and welcoming environment. With very friendly smiley staff.<br/><br/>I am a very fussy coffee drinker, and I normally feel very disapointed when I order coffee out, but not here, the coffee was really top quality.<br/><br/>Now I know this is the only cafe I will come to for coffee when Im in Takapuna. I also thought the prices were very reasonable. I will be back. Cant wait to try Joe's yummy looking menu too☺<br/><br/>

We had been to Joe's on Sunday for breakfast. There is a warm homely feel to the cafe, and friendly service. Had a short chat with their manager Louis, who guided us on the menu offerings. We had their delicious breakfast Paratha, a nice change to the usual breakfast offerings around Auckland. Enjoyed the Flat White & the English breakfast tea made by their friendly Barista "K". Would definitely go back.

I enjoyed lunch last weekend at Joes Eatery. The place has a lovely relaxing vibe, delicious food and great service. Excellent for a meal or just for coffee and cake. I wish them the best of luck with this venture and hope to return soon.
