Review Niko's Pizza - Takapuna

Excellent pizzas! A bit pricey but totally worth it. The ingredients sourced tasted super fresh. Kudoz Niko!

Excellent pizza - great choices, and they taste even better than they look :D

OMG!!! The best little Greek spot in Takapuna, the owner, Niko makes the best Souvlaki and being half Greek I think I appreciated it 10xtimes more😍 will make sure we go back at least once a month. He he..

My husband and I dined here on Sunday Afternoon and it was epic! The music was ambient and authentic. The food was so delicious! The greek salad was so flavoursome and generous, the lasagne and pizza perfection! The customer service was on point. We don't live local but we will be back real soon and highly recommend this place for dine in or takeaway!

Fantastic. This little gold mine is easy to miss as it's doors are quite small - however Niko's Pizza had me munching on one of the best pizzas I've had in New Zealand. The restaurant feel is great and is never too crowded, and always has an inviting personality to greet you. The pizza feels authentic and the quality and care is immeasurable. Even with prices over 15 dollars for a basic pizza, I'm not surprised and it is well with it.

Passed by this place on the way home and decided to give it a try. It turned out to be a wonderful experience for my first time greek food experience in New Zealand! The owner was super friendly and volunteered to take pictures for me. Even treated me with greek traditional liquor and a souvenir from Greece. Not to mention the food was really yummy and healthy :) Recommend for a weekend afternoon delight on your own or a group of friends❤

Best food in Auckland! Heck, dare I say it.. best food in NEW ZEALAND!!! I’ve eaten many times at Nikos and every time it’s amazing! The food totally gives you that comfy home-food feel, but when you taste it, it just takes it to another level! The first time I brought my partner here he said “we have to come back again this week!” And we did!! Furthermore the chef has a huge passion for food - that’s probably why it tastes so good!

Not very cheap (large one is around $30) but pretty authentic pizza made on proper thin dough. Has some in and out door seating, though many people just takeaway. If you consider pizza to be a fast junk food - this place is not for you. Some parking could be available on street on the large Takapuna parking nearby, but you are likely to pay if it's not a Sunday

It was like I would expect a small Greek restaurant to be. Four of us dined and in all cases the food was exceptional - from nibbles to mains. The mains were so large we could not do desert. Prices were a little higher than the neighbours but the food was miles better. Niko is a personality in himself. We'll be back.

Pizza was amazing and their tzatziki is to die for ❤️ definitely coming back!

Nikos pizza is the premium pizza restaurant in Auckland. If you are looking for a great night out, excellent pizza and a great atmosphere, look no further! You get what you pay for. If you don't want to pay for quality food, don't come here.

Niko is the most friendliest guy I know. Food is great, price is reasonable. Been going here for years and the food is always delicious. Not sure what the people with the 1 star reviews are on about...

Fantastic! Had 2x Greek Gyros, they are delicious!... I loved the bread they make the gyro with and apparently they are imported all they way from Greece. Will come back again for sure :)

Absolutely love the pizza here. One of the yummiest. And the owner is really nice. Always enjoy Nikos

First time at Nikos was 2009 for a Pizza. Was excellent then and still excellent now May 2020. I'm regular customer from out of town. Highly recommended

Delicious pasta

I absolutely love Nikos pizza - you walk in and immediately feel the authenticity. The pizzas are amazing and I highly recommend the greek wine.

Me and my boyfriend had the large meatlovers pizza, a large fries, and an apple juice and coke. The drinks were the best part out of this meal. For $33 you get a thin burnt base, too much sauce, and not so flavoursome topping. I’ll never come back here again, I’ve had better pizzas from pubs than this pizzeria.

Ate here for lunch on Saturday. We were the only customers in the restaurant. They were out of souvlaki.......in a Greek restaurant. The waiter who was very unfriendly suggested the chicken special. The dish came and it was an entire plate of potato wedges with 2 small drumsticks! I could not believe this was the special and was $24.99. We felt very ripped off. When we mentioned it upon checkout that we were very disappointed in the portion we were told: "no one else has complained". Well, there was no one else in the restaurant to complain!!!! The pizza was very average. After the rude exchange at the end and the food we will not be back!

One of the best carbonara I've had in a long time. It is a bit pricey but pretty decent size so it's worth it. It's a small place so not ideal for big crowds max 4 will be a really cramped table.

If you love chicken and mushroom fettuccine then Niko can make the best one, he’s super friendly. It’s also a BYO Restuarant. It’s a small cute restaurant.

Popped to Niko’s pizza after watching a movie and was told this was a great spot to grab pizza. The restaurant is quite small and tight on space however the decor is lovely and there is outside seating as well and they do offer takeaway which is awesome.

Staff were friendly and our order was prepared very quickly, in a matter of ten minutes or so. Pizza has a lovely thin base which how I like my pizzas personally (more room for toppings!!)

We picked the Quattro Stagioni which consisted of mushrooms, shrimp, ham and salami. The pizza was delicious, has so many toppings, so much cheese, the base was crispy and the whole thing tasted so fresh and juicy. Very excited to come back and try more items from the menu!

Niko’s is quite a small little restaurant but utilises it’s space well - their pastas are filling and always very tasty! The fettuccine al pollo is creamy with the perfect amount of mushrooms and chicken, and the garlic bread is delicious and compliments all the pastas very nicely. Usually pop in for a lovely warm Friday night meal ✨

holy cow! this is such a cute little place the owner is so friendly and the food is amazing. I highly recommended this place. you can definitely tell that it's authentic Italian!

The pizza was SO good but SO overpriced! When you walk in you can tell it’s authentic Italian and you can taste the love and freshness in the food

Great place to get your comfort food fix! Incredibly old fashioned priced menu in comparison to other newer food chains, however the food appears freshly made and tastes really great, authentic and homemade. Ordered a standard pizza with two pasta dishes which costed approx $50. Staff appeared eager to please when visiting, and food portions seemed slightly larger than normal, so one pasta dish and one small pizza could easily be shared between two besties. A great little diner if your taste buds are not bothered by the price of their meals. Foodies, do try the pasta dish as it's a real winner and can be ordered as a takeout :)

Would absolutely not recommend this place. The vegetarian pizza came in a pretty much small box and it was a whooping $32ish . I hoped that the pizza lived up to its price, but unfortunately it didn't. The pizza had a very thin base and base was pretty much burnt.

Good quality food, good service and friendly staff.
Small eating area, suggest they do a lot of Takeaway. BYO as well as a range of beer and wine.

Been coming to Niko for my itallian cravings my whole life. It's my local gem.
Friendly, upbeat staff and food to boast about.
Honest hospitality. Real food.

This place has amazing flavours but is well over priced. We ordered the pita and three sauces. It was like $13 and they gave us 6 bite sizes of pita bread. Would not recommend. We also ordered the large lamb pizza. Would feed one person. It was $36. Can't say I've ever paid that much for a pizza before. Could probably get me a good steak else where. The ambiance is average. Very tight and small. I can tell you the food is good, the pizza based is paper thin and crunchy. But very over priced.

You could say that Niko's Pizza is an "Oxymoron " of a pizzeria. One the one hand fast service, not overly friendly but not rude too. Then the pizza well over priced at $28.00 each. For a large which a normal healthy appetite can demolish on there own. Veey Disappointed that when we requested a substitution of capsicum for olives and cook even agreed that would be ok the Pepperoni pizza still came with capsicum on. When taken back was told by the owner just pull them off. Not so easy for a severe food allergy person to do. After a small discussion a new replacement pizza was made. May take us a while to go back after this even though the pizzas were great.
Shady
Very cute small restaurant tucked in next to the Takapuna bar. Niko is lots of fun and very cheeky! Favourite is the Niko's Pizza, and love the stuffed capsicum. We come here quite often - particularly as they're open late - so we know we can get a nice meal if we've left it too late.

Although it is very overpriced ($28 for a 'large' pizza that will feed only one..) I frequented this place while I was hooked on the spicy chicken pizza. I put up with the high price until I ordered a takeaway pizza and when I picked it up i decided to eat it on a free table out front.. The owner then stormed out and snatched the table settings from the table and told me I payed the takeaway price.. That might be so, but it was early in the evening and there was no one else there. Unbelievably rude after a customer has just spent $28 on one of your pizzas. I never went back.

This place is just awesome, went here late at night, and Niko my friend, you are a perfect host. The food was outstanding, authentic, and cooked to perfection and the advise this guy has to give about life...Hahaha we really enjoyed ourselves. Sorry to put up a review so late but its one truly scrumptious fair.
Alex
Absolutely delicious pizzas made here!! Different from your normal ordinary pizzas and taste ten times better. They're not heavy pizzas like usual which means you can eat more of the them!
Dan Crawford
Expensive pricing for the portion size. Great service and authentic Greek. Food is very tasty! Great buzz about the place and in a good location.

Cute little place, sat out on the pavement, just like you do in Europe.
We had dolmades and Greek Special pizza. Really yummy and very authentic dolmades.

The only slight downer was that they tried to serve ouzo in a shot glass. For any not in the know (and we had spent 2 weeks in Greece only a year ago), the standard way to serve it is in a tall glass with extra water and ice cubes.
You then mix to your taste with water - it's certainly not something to be shotted and not at dinner!
Not sure if the waitress poured it herself and didn't know what she was doing?

Anyways, would certainly come back for the food!

been here a few times and always satisfied. great tasting pizza with abundant toppings and crispy-thin crust. tried their spicy chicken, salmon and greek special, they were all superb! the best pizza in town by far!

Want amazing pasta for dinner but don't want to cook?
These guys are the answer!
We often pick this as our takeaway option.
Lasange is on the small side but the vege option of it is so good!
Can't comment on pizzas because we are way to happy getting pasta to change.
Debbie
Had seen this place for a while as ambiance looked great and last night decided to try it. It would have to be the worst meals we have ever had. Moussaka and Lasagna - dry and tasteless and an overheated pre-made with dried out edges. Service slack - tense waitress who could not make herself understood. They spent more time on the people coming in for takeaway pizzas. AND the bill came to $80 and we took our own wine! Told to use the same utensils for a shared entrée and for the main!

What a find and a well kept secret. Just happened upon Niko's as we were walking past to go to another eatery.
Great host, good food, fun atmosphere and we can't wait to go back. There were six of us, all ordered different dishes and couldn't fault any of them....shhh! Don't tell too many people, we might not get a table next time.

Absolutely disappointed. $27 for 3 small skewers of meat. 3 strips of pita like shown and a pottle of sauce as a take away. The authentic Greek souvlaki.
At least there could have been big chunks of meat on skewers and a whole piece of bread, not chicken kebab sized skewers like from mad butcher.

I've never been here before but I'm regretting not ordering a pizza instead.
Appreciate there's a price for quality but at least there should be some reasonable middle ground.
Mary Underwood
Reading all the reviews about Pizza makes me really want to try them. Can only say I have had the pasta but boy was it delicious! The best I have tasted in a long time. The sauce just took me authentic restaurants like these in Europe.

To me, this place has the most amazing Pizzas I have ever had. That seems quite a call to make. But, I stand by that. Perhaps once, years ago, I had better/rivaled pizza. If that is the case, I can not remember.

The crust is baked to a perfect crisp. The cheese to pizza ratio is spot on. The only way a pizza should be. I (we) had the Margarita pizza. WOW. Is this only word. This piece of baked dough with toppings; this sends you to another world. A world where you are skipping in Fields of daisies, where the sun shines pleasantly on your cheek, where you dance with the goats. Or somewhere like that.

My work colleagues and myself often dream of this pizza. We just wished they would deliver further afield than Takapuna and were open 24 hours. I know this is unrealistic. Dreams are free.

So thank you to the Niko's team for existing!! You are amazing.

Kind Regards,

Kate

What a little gem, truly authentic food. The spaghetti bolognaise was by far the best I've ever had! And given the quality of the food & the location in Takapuna, $20 is so reasonable. Going there again this week to try the spaghetti marinara, hope it's just as good!
Yvonne Walus
The best pizza I've had in years - the crust is just right. I'm so sick of mediocre chain store pizza, and Niko's pizza reminded me why I like pizza in the first place.

Friendly staff, cosy atmosphere (we dined in), authentic Greek coffee.
Amanda Pain
Great, great, great pizza!! Love this place so much. Consistently delicious, which is refreshing. I always get takeaway. Not really designed for dining in, as it is very small - only about five tables or something. But when I do see people dining there, it usually looks pretty cute. Candles and closeness - could be fun?
Marise Logan
A regular customer. The sphagetti marinara is to die for- huge flavours and decent portion size. Likewise with the greek special pizza too. Consistently good.
Johny P
Average pizza. Overpriced and small.

The ham on the pizza was low grade, sausage ham, which is not what I would expect for the price.

A large will only feed 1 person.
Jordan Lee
I've only tried the pasta menu here, but they have been absolutely delicious. I shall try the pizzas next time.

excellent Greek/Italian pizza & other continental delicacies...!!!! Mmmmm Mama mia..!!!
