This Mexicali is great. I have been to others, and this one has good service. They are fast and accurate. You can eat inside or get take away and eat on the beach, which isn't far away. They have rest rooms inside, but parking is on street. But the food is delicious and the service is almost alway great.

Good value for money, with burritos it can be hard to keep in one piece. Tends to be a lot of beans and rice by default, which offer a neutral taste and make up the bulk of the meal. Would love to experience more hot sauce, as I felt the heat was lost in the shear volume of burrito. I recommend trying some of their Mexican drinks, the Lime one they offer in a glass bottle, paired well with the meal.

Nice friendly staff, had the chicken burrito and it was tasty. Not something I could eat all the time but definitely nice once in a while. You can sit and have a casual beer too which is nice on hot summer days to grab a quick fresh bite to eat and a drink, great location too walking distance to Takapuna beach.

It's great for what it is, it's a pleasant place to enjoy a tasty ('subway style') Mexican place with a nice environment - much nicer than the one in the CBD. Good service, nice place and enjoyable food. Would be happy to dine there again.

This is a great place for a quick bite or sit down. We bring our kids here often and always have a nice time, good kids menu options. Medium range priced.

Great food. But service is 50/50. The guy today was in a bad mood and had poor service. I get that he is just at work but it makes a difference

Three in one restaurant, something for everyone, Mexican, burgers and Poke Bowls. The burgers are good and they come with a cute little sleeve so as to not drop everything.

Mexicali Fresh Takapuna is great value for money, they prepare the food quickly and the staff are friendly. This is a staple once a week venue for lunch!

Omg Damn, ordered a Chicken Fajita Taco Salad off uber eats one night. Omg was literally so so good omg so tasty and full of flavour. You can add and take out ingredients to or from your salad to suit your preferability which I love. Although I ordered the salad I didn't expect it to be fresh but when it came it was fresh so that's a big thumbs up, cheers to them! Literally the best salad I've ever had resulted me in being in a Mexican food coma. Can't hype it up enough omg too good!! x

Coming from the USA I would compare this place to a Chipolte, Cafe Rio, or Qdoba. While the food is always good it is just another classic stop for a good burrito. Always a safe option. I always suggest going for a burrito as I personally think you get the most for your budget. Will continue to stop here if on a lower budget and just want to grab a quick bit to eat.

I was amazed by the scene that Mexicali Fresh creates in their restaurant with all the decorations and feature walls. There was a lot to look at which was great. The worked were a bit ignorant in a way. I felt as if they didn’t want to work there and they spoke in quite a quick and snappy tone. The worker spoke so fast I had to ask them to repeat multiple times and each time they got more annoyed (which I get in same cases but at the same time people like me don’t go there often so I don’t know the menu off by heart or anything, I think they should consider that cause I felt as though I should know everything off by heart) The food was alright there, it was my first time trying nachos and they were not too bad. I love the environment at Mexicali Fresh, at the same time I hope their staff are a bit more polite and curtious. I probably wouldn’t go again unfortunately :(

Had a scrumptious taco salad bowl on there Monday night special and it is definitely worth the $11 I could t finish it as it was so jam packed with goodness! Such a great concept and I loved every bite. I had pulled pork in mine and it was so succulent. Will be back for more and try out different meats!

Visited Mexicali Takapuna tonight and was absolutely appalled by one of the staff members at this branch and the lack of enthusiasm this guy displayed. For a company who proudly displays on their website that all meat is free range, the man with dreads certainly looked very caged and as if he was being held at work against his will. <br/>The same guy would continue walking out the back to what I assume is a kitchen, obviously found the entertainment in opening the small wooden door all the way up unnecessarily and letting it go creating a loud bang assuring that all customers got a nerve shaking fright. <br/>On the bright side the food that the lovely lady who was also working made was not to disappoint. Definitely made me feel sorry for her consistently putting up with his very negative attitude and constant banging of the door.

I love mexicali food but the staff at this branch are atrociously rude. The young guy acts as if he hates you and his life. The older woman who is always working snapped at me when I asked if I could get extra of an ingredient, then when I took my food she says "whatever" to me.  Her demeanour was so hostile I do not ever want to go in again. My friends who were with me witnessed her behaviour and were just as shocked as I was.

I went here the other day with a couple of friends as I hadn't tried any of these places and they said it was really good. The place is open with cool decorations and a really good atmosphere. <br/><br/>You walk in and choose what you want off the menu and they make it right there in front of you. It is a little hard to hear what they ask you sometimes because of the music and they are softly spoken servers but we got through fine. I ordered the chargrilled chicken quesadilla and it came with salad as well as corn chips, I also got a strawberry margarita. My meal was pretty good not the best Mexican I have had but certainly not bad. Was quite greasy though. <br/><br/>I would come back again if I felt like that kind of food as it was easy and nice :)

I could not resist the Monday special of a $10 taco salad. I chose pork, refried beans, sour cream and the mild salsa but passed on the guacamole for an additional charge. I was not offered cheese and a sprinkling of cheese would've been a welcomed addition. I would've been happy to pay extra but didn't think about it at the time. A little more salsa woukd be nice too. The crispy taco bowl is a nice touch in lieu of corn chips. The salad ingredients were fresh and the meat, beans and rice made this a filling lunch. I couldn't finish it all but I am a small eater

We returned to Mexicali Takapuna this afternoon after our previous experience there was pretty decent. Unfortunately today's visit was shocking. We were standing at the counter for a couple of minutes with absolutely no staff members in sight. We eventually wandered down to the end of the counter to see if we could find anyone. Some surly guy eventually came out and headed down to the end where we were originally - when Little Tummy tried to place her order, he scolded her and told her to come down to the other end as "that is where you place your order". While she was ordering I went to go grab a couple of containers of salsa for her to use. As we were paying, the cashier then tried to have a go at me, asking me whether the salsa was for her - I quickly pointed out that the salsa is for the corn chips that usually come with her dish... corn chips that he hadn't even bothered to give her. When I pointed this out, he literally just threw some corn chips in a takeaway bag and handed it to her. When asked if I wanted anything myself, I declined - his attitude and service had already convinced me to give my business to Burger Fuel two stores down. We won't be returning as long as we see that guy behind the counter.

Very average vs. the Mairangi bay Mexicali Fresh, serving size of chicken in my taco bowl was woeful and certainly not worth the $15 asking price

This definitely the worst Mexicali outlet out of all. Service standards are utterly shocking and poor.<br/><br/>I have visited twice or thrice with friends and all of us found it to hopeless place to dine.<br/><br/>The staff lacked very basic respect and value for customers. In my case, one of the elderly staff simply shouted and insulted me. I litterly came to a point I have to rant and shout back.<br/><br/>Definitely definitely not recommended to avoid any disappointments.

I think my opinion of Mexicali fresh has just changed. All because of Friendly staff who made up for previous Mexicali fresh stores. <br/>Generous portions and very tasty.<br/>Loved the taco salad. Full of tasty offerings. You could actually taste the lime and coriander, both staples in Mexican cuisine.

Love going there for a healthy bite to eat, the service from the staff is very friendly, the food is always fresh and I love the daily deals that they have! #tacotuesday

Mexicali fresh is a nice place to come to as they have their daily deals such as taco Tuesday and happy hour on Fridays. It is a nice place to come to with friends and the decoration of the place is nice

Our kids are always getting food here so we thought we would check it out. Staff were friendly and seemed on to it although there was bit of issue which should have been sorted out the back not in the customers ear shot. Pulled pork burrito to be honest was fresh but rather tasteless which was disappointing. The best thing we ate were the $3 mince tacos - seems a popular special with the teens - good value and tastie! It was very noisy somewhat aided by some young children whose parents had left them at the front play area while they sat at the very rear. Probably not going to rush back but I suspect I'm not their demographic anyway!

Best place to go to for affordable Mexican food. Usually Mexican foods are nice but quite expensive/comes in small portions, but Mexicali Fresh has captured all the essence of Mexican food while made it remain affordable. Funky in-store designs and easiness of ordering also made the dining experience better! Definitely recommend this place! :D Favourite so far is their salad bowl!

What a wonderful place! Incredibly low priced food considering the amount you get and the friendliest service I have experienced in restaurants of a similar class. The general atmosphere was friendly and warm despite it being the coldest night in Auckland in 65 years. Ordered the Quesadilla with medium spice and it was indeed medium, unlike many places whose medium is almost as spicy as the spicy option. I thoroughly recommend this place to anybody looking for quick, good mexican food and very friendly service.
