Has a hidden gem feel. Seems to be the local Maori cafe. Good latte. One fried bread filled us both up.
A traditional cafe/tearooms style establishment rarely seen in New Zealand these days.
Nothing trendy or artificial here. The place to come for a nostalgic feed of a bygone era.
Fill up on great tucker at great prices, served by friendly staff.
What more could you want?
Coffee best ..and was able to use my gold card....bonus..
A bit of a 70s vibe here, but in a good way. While the decor is a little tragic and the menu is fairly basic the food was delicious and cheap, the cafe spotless, the staff attentive and helpful and the coffee surprisingly good. I highly recommend the Bushmans burger đź‘Ť
Just like other reviewers. A blast from the past. Nothing fancy and not pricey, food is good especially their deluxe fish burger, I would recommend others to come for a quick simple feed.
Without a doubt,an absolute gem of a cafe. Run by the friendly and welcoming Eileen Paterson..you get beautiful home baking, generous big breakfasts, eggs Benedict etc...something to please everyone. The coffee is perfect. Love stopping here. Well done Eileen and staff🙂🙂
Friendly and pleasant Customer Service. The owner, Eileen Paterson, proudly has a sign stating that she own and operates the place on the entrance door. That is the type of attitude that makes a place great. Food Presentation was excellent and prepared like in a professional kitchen. As you can see….couldn’t take a picture of the food…as it look too good. Only an empty plate :)
Great authentic old style kiwi cafe, spacious, efficient and friendly. Timeless classics like mince on toast served with crisp watercress, and cheesecake made on the premises.
Nice mix of European and Maori staff, and similarly customers.
The locals come here - always the best indication of genuine Kai (food).
They are everything you would want in a place to eat and more. We were greeted with hugs and our food was made to order any way we wanted it! They even offered to open early for us if we needed them too. And the food, oh yes - the homemade desserts were awesome. Kiwi breakfast - perfect! I would eat there everyday if I could. Taumarunui's best! Aloha from Hawaii!
A hidden gem, spotlessly clean original 1970s decor, good food at reasonable prices.
