Food was delicious! I had the breakfast croissant and it was the best I’ve ever had. The bacon was crispy on the edges, fried egg cooked perfectly (you know when the yolk is over cooked & it’s dry - not like that) and a yummy chutney to lift the flavour. What topped it off for me was when it was heated they didn’t squash it like a pancake, the shape of the croissant was still in tact & it was lovely & flakey. It was so good I went back a second time for it! The service was also really good. Friendly, helpful and accomodating. I did take away so can’t comment on the atmosphere.

Best big breakfast I've had in a long time

Visits twice in 2 days last weekend in July and was impressed both times with the food, coffee and service. Consistency was perfect and the team behind the counter were wonderful. Good prices too if you want to snack or pig out.

I highly recommend Double Shot Cafe in Taupo. The food was great but the customer service was amazing!!! I'd already worked out that it was more cost effective to get the Big Breakfast and omit the bacon and sausage than it was to get the eggs on toast and add back in the veges but the very friendly cashier did his due diligence by working it out too. Friendly right from the moment we walked in makes a huge difference to the experience. Then no sooner had I sat down the chef came out to offer me more veges with the meal to make up for removing the meat. And she was very lovely too!! Going the extra mile and making your customers feel appreciated makes the difference between just having a nice meal and a becoming a raving fan who will refer you to everyone. Many moons ago when I worked in hotels a wise man told us that it doesn't matter if the rooms are outdated, people don't remember that, they remember how you made them feel. And if you make them feel special and appreciated they will come back. Double Shot Cafe has this philosophy sorted :-)

Eggs are so easy and yet sometimes so difficult but this place made scrambled eggs and smashed avo to perfection! It was the coffee that really did it for us as what's a good meal without an espresso. Loved our visit to double shot cafe. Service was really good and friendly from barista and front of house.
