Excellent restaurant and bar in the center of Taupo’s central business district! It is a beautiful space, with lots of wood, lovely woven light fixtures, brass lighting over the bar, ferns, and a fireplace. For beer lovers, there are 10 beers on tap, plus they have a nice wine list and a full bar. The menu is excellent, with strong sharing plates, pizzas, pub standards like fish and chips, great sounding salads, plus a range of other entrees. We got Chicken Parmigiana (yum!!) and followed it with Sticky Date Pudding for dessert.
Great all-around experience and I’d definitely go back.
Stop over 4 lunch on the way to Auckland - what a joyful discovery. Husband ordered schnitzel and I had the days special of fish and chips.
The slaw on both our plates was the most fabulous thing on our plates. The rest of food was very good... But we salivated over that slaw for many days after.

My husband and I tried this restaurant and ohh boy! You’re in for a treat! We went here for four consecutive days during our stay in Taupo. We ordered the same dish and each order is as great as the first one! I highly recommend the steak with mash potatoes and fries whilst my husband had the lamb shank pie! Both dishes were flavorful and fresh! Bar man we’re helpful about my husbands choice of beer. I always order aperol sprits as my go-to drinks but it seems they don’t have it. I opted for a G&T and it’s well mixed. The restaurant itself had a nice feeling about it, well lit and maintained. We will definitely be back!
Just stopped in for some cocktails. Looks like a great place. Every bartender asked if we were OK while we waited for our drinks so good service
What a little gem of a place. Great food and amazing atmosphere. I’ll be stopping by every time I visit Taupō from now on.
Was extremely busy, we definitely didn't pick an ideal night for what we were after, a nice chill dinner out. But the service was the food was delicious.
My partner and I have just travelled around both the south & north island of NZ and absolutely loved Finns Bistro! We highly rate this place to grab a drink & food, top of our list! Staff were lovely. We wish there was somewhere like this establishment back at our home on the Gold Coast, Australia! Thanks guys
Good to place to hang out on a weekend night. The bartenders were so polite n friendly (except one). Large place so it didnt feel too crowded. Food was good too.
I got chicken parmagiana $17 Thurs special & my BF got the laksa. Both were good although part of my chicken Was over cooked 3/5. The laksa was beautiful 4/5.
