We decided to have breakfast here before heading back to Auckland. A wonderful Lil Cafe with a South African theme. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The waffles were soft and delicious. Loved the giraffe design on the hot drinks. Will definitely visit again.

These waffles were what I expected and tasted delicious, specially the apple crumble one! A whole waffle makes a good portion for one, flavors were balanced as everything in the plate mixed perfectly and service was very kind and fast. Congrats!
I usually get the waffles. But I also like to get the salads. Everything on the menu is yum. Service is great. Toilets and other areas always clean. One of the best places to eat in Taupō.
This is my favorite café in Taupo! I pop in every time I go through Taupo.
The food is delicious, staff are super friendly and their decaf coffee is divine!😁
My favorite waffle is Monkey's Uncle, it's fluffy and topped with fresh banana, cream, chocolate, and caramel sauce! 😋

Me and My wife come here every morning when we stay in Taupo, because it's got THE GREATEST coffee I've ever had. Also the food is top tier!
We normally go for waffles, but this time we went for Salmon Bagels and Thai noodles! And IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT!
I have tried a few different waffles here and no matter what you order you won't be disappointed! For anyone visiting Taupō, you won't want to miss coming here!
The flavour combinations are delicious and unique and there's something to suit everyone's tastes. The hospitality is amazing, the staff are lovely, and they do amazing dishes/coffee. I absolutely love the South African theme and it definitely sets this cafe apart. They also do gluten free waffles and you can't even tell they're different.
(On this visit we ordered the Babotie, Buttermilk Chook, Mozam Chicken, and the Open Bagel with Summer Salmon. All of them were so YUM)
Love that this places caters for dogs and allows them inside! The chicken waffle was awesome and the coffee was very tasty. Will definitely be back when we are next in Taupo.
I came here purely for the gluten free waffles & was not disappointed!

Absolutely adored this wee gem, all I wanted was waffles for my birthday. Drove into Taupo and hello Roots waffle cafe. The staff are extraordinary in their manners, food making and celebrating an old ladies birthday (45). Roots Waffle is defo on permanent hitlist for visits ;)
