Review Waitomo Homestead - Waitomo Caves

I recently visited Waitomo Homestead and had the pleasure of trying their pie, big breakfast and flat white. The food was delicious and the portions were generous. The pie had a crispy crust and was filled with a flavorful filling. The big breakfast was cooked to perfection and had all the right ingredients. The flat white was smooth and creamy. The parking lot was spacious and there were plenty of spots available. I also found a shop nearby that sells cheap vegetables and fruits.

Super friendly and helpful staff making the experience for tourists an enjoyable time. A couple days into New Zealand (and many pies later) this place had the best pies for sure! The chicken and veggie was sooo good 🤤 Stop for a bite before or after going on a tour of the glow worm caves. Great spot for big groups.

Good chance for a break as you travel through the country. Good facilities, large compkex with a nice outdoor garden to let the kids run some energy off.

Coming back home, we did a quick stopover in this place. What a great choice! The restaurant is huge, fresh food and plenty of seating. Seems like an ideal place for large groups. You can also book tickets for some local attractions, like Waitomo Cave and rafting. Just beside there is a veggie shop where you can buy ice cream. Parking is large. Toilets are clean and well maintained. Good to stretch your legs and relax.

Mothers day lunch was delicious! The Cafe was busy but we didn't feel cramped! Very Spacious! A full cabinet of pies and treats. I chose the sugar waffle off the menu. I was not disappointed! Will visit again. Gluten free steak sandwich was brilliant! Kids cheese burger was huge, and tasty!! Happy family members all round.

Relaxing and spacious resting place before and after your waitomo adventure! The place is huge, with many areas to spread out and relax. Highlight is definitely the $3 pies! Normal size, tasty and only $3! Big fan of that, especially after being cold and wet for the 3 hours beforehand!

I really like this cafe 🤠 it was a a part of my tour to Hobbiton a great 👍🏼 pit stop to grab a drink and some snacks.

It’s a nice restaurant where some of the souvenirs are cheaper as compare to the waitomo caves souvenirs shop. The pie is delicious @ 3 dollars only. While the main course is slightly more expensive @ average of 20 per pax. And there is a kid corner too, kiddo love it and doesn’t want to leave until we told her that she will need to stay in Waitomo 😄

Enjoyed a one night stay at The Homestead on a corporate group trip. Everything was great. We received a hearty welcome from the homestead team, buffet dinner in the main restaurant was excellent, lots of food and choice. The accommodation lodges are basic but comfy and the shared bathroom facilities clean and well maintained. We enjoyed a tasty breakfast the next morning before setting off to the caves and ad lunch when we came back. all in all well fed and cared for. thanks to the team.

It's a nice restaurant, with some history behind it. There's a great buffet, staff is very friendly and helpful, aware of any restrictions you may have as well. Ice creams are a highlight, as well as coffee and other treats for any time of the day. A gift shop is also around, with some nice variety.

Very nice roadside restaurant with friendly service, good food and a great sitting area where you can relax in the sun!

Was expecting my stay to be of a basic cabin but it was so much more than that when we arrived . The view was incredible! That fresh new cabin smell and the sounds the birds in the nearby trees followed by the sun going down over the hills A+++ absolutely loved it :)

Place was absolute wonderful! The breakfast was awesome, from the menu and the meat pie collection. Ice cream was also spectacular. Very welcoming, friendly, and humorous staff. That’s what made my experience so much better. While I was getting ice cream one of the ladies even gave me an extra scoop! Highly recommended stop for breakfast/lunch to take a break off the road.

Waitomo Honestead never fails to serve beautiful food. Both off the menu and their cabinet food. Best pies in the district too 👏

Great for large groups - we had a great nights sleep in the quad cabin. The staff were amazing and so accommodating. The perfect place to stay if you are going to the glow worm caves or black water rafting!

Great location. Really bad buffet lunch. Soup was less than warm, veggies were over cooked, and despite asking for medium rare steak we got well done. Not much variety and quality of food is bad. Steak smelt off. Not worth $27, and poor tourist who think this is the general quality of New Zealand food. Suggestions check your food holding temps.

I currently have an addiction it is to the Chicken and Apricot pies they would be the BEST pies I have ever tasted and I have tasted a few....LOL. On Friday I tried the raw Chocolate & Peanut butter slice and all I can say is OMG delish!!!!

Went here last weekend after swearing never to go back when previous owners had ruined the place and food service... very happy to be greeted by lovely smiling guy, talkative and informative. Seafood pie was awesome and great price. Keep it real guys... love it!

The staff were helpful. The shop was well stocked with touristy goods. The Platter lunch that we had was lovely. The outdoor eating area was a little messy. The gardens and pond area are definitely in need of some serious maintenance. Overall satisfactory.

Fabulous homemade pies only $3 and a variety of fillings. Mmmm delicious and yummy ice creams in cones. So delicious & huge, 2 huge scoops $4.50

Food was ok, but depends on the group you are with, the food I had was vegetarian, I found out later I could have ordered something else at reduced/no cost

The lovely staff. That has to rate high with my husband and I. We are locals and stop in for lunch often. Good prices. Good food.

Upon entering, the store always looks and feels clean....service is friendly and OMG the chicken and broccoli pies are the best! Sometimes I'll buy 2 save me driving out again for one later lol....and the homebaking is fresh, and second to none. The bathroom facilities were also nice and clean. Thank you �
