Since we were in South Island, gave their lamb biryani a try and it was delicious. We ate here twice and food was delicious. Good ambience and lake Wanaka views. The service was really good too.
Delicious food. Best Indian. Table ordered chicken Tikka (5) lovely mint sauce. Crispy mixed veggies (5). Chicken Korma (5). Shrimp in a spinach sauce (Shwarma?) (5) and a lamb dish. With Nan bread to share was a great atmosphere outside patio with heaters and awesome food
Lovely restaurant, Very friendly staff and food is delicious. If you are in Wanka a must try Indian restaurant, The view from the restaurant is Amazing overlooking Lake Wanaka
One of the best restaurants we went to on our trip to New Zealand. They served Rotis , side dishes, rice all steaming hot. The view of the lake from the restaurant is a sight to see. Would love to go there again.
No doubt it's the best Indian food restaurant in Wanaka. We come here almost once a week during we stay in Wanaka. It's the most frequent restaurant we visit in the town.
The price is absolutely reasonable to the meal amount. There are much meat in the butter chicken/lamb which is the meal I always order.
We've tried other Indian restaurants in the town, but this one is the best. Highly recommend!
I love their garlic naan. The price is a bit cheaper than other restaurants but the amount is larger and the crispy taste is better!
Beside meal, the outside view and the friendly staff are the reason we always come.
Lovely meal. I had the garlic naan and chicken tikka massala, asked it to be “hot” (they give you 4 different levels to choose from) and it was perfection. Very friendly waiters. Beautiful view but also the inside tables are very cosy.
We eat Indian food often and have to say that this restaurant is ranked in the top 2 of all the Indian restaurants we have tried in New Zealand so far for us. My partner had the lamb shank, which we saw someone else eating as we entered the restaurant. The aroma was so delicious, that my partner had to have it and he was not disappointed. The portion size and the flavour were both grand. I had Chicken Tikka Masala Mild, which was spicier than I am used to in other restaurants, yet all the other flavours came through beautifully. The quantity of actual chicken in the curry was very generous and in fact, I actually couldn't finish the full portion. The other highlight was a light and fantastically fresh cheese and garlic naan bread. It was light and cooked just right with a more than generous cheese filling. The prices are also extremely affordable and the value for money is fantastic. The staff are all very helpful and friendly and the service was very fast. I also loved the cozy and warm atmosphere and decor. A must visit again next time we are in Wanaka for sure !
Bombay palace at Wanaka is proper fine dine Indian restaurant located at magnificent location overlooking lake Wanaka. Food was delicious authentic Indian and restaurant staff was well mannered. Restaurant is well decorated with indoor and outdoor seating both available.
Highly recommend this restaurant. We asked the waiter and he said that the chicken is from halal source 👍🏻 The tandoori platter for 2 and butter chicken curry was so good. Garlic naan was really good too as per other reviews. They have vegetarian options too!
I was not expecting to find authentic Indian food in Wanaka. I was pleasantly surprised by the Bombay Palace. The food is excellent. It's packed with spices and very flavorful.
My only negative comment would be that the service staff did not seem highly engaged. The waitress who took my order did not check back in with me. There seemed to be one gentleman doing all the work while the waitresses were in a corner chatting.
Really great experience. The food is authentic and so tasty! The Mango Margarita has a different touch to it and is tasty! My only complaint would be that the food took a bit longer than expected. It was still worth the wait.
This is one of those special restaurants that after one meal becomes your favorite. The view here is amazing looking over lake Wanaka. The food though is what keeps bringing you back time and time again. We have an agreement in our house hold that after an exceptionally hard day we get Bombay. Something to note is that you won’t find a better group of staff anywhere. If you are visiting or local this is the place to go.
Highly recommend.
Good taste. Kid’s friendly. They met my expectations. Good environment & spectacular views.
Thanks for making my trip to Wanaka.
