One of our favorite ice cream place! 100 for the vibe and view! 90 for the ice cream! We love the gelato here !

So much choice of different flavours of ice cream and gelato.. really tasty , highly recommend

Recommended from family to visit here. Lots of parking available onsite. Loved it. Atleast 15 different types of Gelato to choose from. Hot drinks and double choc brownies on offer. There was also a little section of the store that had locally made/grown products (veges & honey). Was also a little food truck in the parking lot called Fritters. The Bacon and Egg Sanwich and chips, amazing. Overall wonderful foodie experience, highly recommend.

This place is great! They have a ton of flavours. The quality is really good and they have a nice outdoor area too. It is reasonably priced. Take the kids, they will love it.

Awesome place to cool down with delicious gelato when visiting Matakana and the surrounding area. During the summer season they also serve wood fired pizza. There’s plenty of seating at the courtyard and the “mini vineyard” at the back. I highly recommend their ice cream spiders!

This place is located right in the center of Oneroa and is not hard to find. For the price of $8 you'll get a fair scoop of particularly delicious ice cream. The flavors to choose from are diverse and the staff is friendly in every way. Can also suggest getting an iced coffee here. They're open way later than other cafe's and it tastes just lovely. Surprisingly one of the best I've had so far on the island.

Best ever lemon sorbet & doris plum & elderberry gelato all worth the cost. However the enjoyment during cunsumption had been the views of the vineyard & floral gardens also koi fish pond , with loads of shade & seating made this experience awesome highly recommended

Several times when I've been travelling through the area, a friend has suggested stopping here. I finally did recently. So glad I did. What most impressed me is the variety of flavours, especially a few I've never seen before. I had Chai Latte after a tough decision and really enjoyed it. I'll definitely be stopping by every time I drive past now, so that I can try all the flavours!

Good icecream, staff and atmosphere. Located off the main road (look for the signs as it’s on a bend) with a decent amount of parking. Fresh fruit ice cream is really good with a few different berry flavours plus they also have your classics straight from the chest freezer as well as Coffee, smoothies and pizza.

Yummy gelato. The pistachio was very nice. Parking is available. The place was very spacious. It was very nice to just relax and talk with your friends. Service was very friendly. They also sell yummy looking big strawberries, but it was not that sweet.

Lovely setting to enjoy some ice cream or gelato. Tried the fig and ginger today and had a great kick to it. The kids had black forest and loved it, they were both in a hurry so they could go look at the fish.<br/>Great size options though I find the bambino size (the smallest) still a little big for under 5s<br/>

Have been to Charlies so many times as it is one of my favourite places to get ice cream. Every time I've been, they've had excellent service and the best selection of ice cream! I have the loyalty card, so finally received my free scoop.  The only problem is the almost fixed line, but that just shows how popular the place is. Always get the apple crumble ice cream as it is my absolute favourite. Have tried the Christmas cherry and white chocolate and raspberry too, which are both yummy. Definitely recommend visiting if you're up this way, and even if you're not, as it is worth the drive!

Yumminess!!!! Every time we visit Matakana we pop into Charlie’s. Their gelato is amazing, love the selection too! I had a double scoop cone with honey and almond as well as pistachio. My husband had the caramel sundae, he ate it in no time as it was so delicious. In the store around the corner you will find beautiful strawberries and other delicious treats.

Charlie's is packed on a rainy day. There are long queues that went outside the main door. There's a huge selection of both gelato and sorbets. They have award winning flavours including Liquorice and Chai Latte but we loved the chocolate sorbet the most!

Great place to stop over on the way to goat island and experience some delicious ice creams and affagato. Good customer service as well. This place is highly recommended!

The gelato at this place is out of this world, I had the Almond and Honey flavour which was oozing with natural honey and flavours. Would definitely recommend to drop by if you are in the area.

We turned up a couple of days after NY and it was packed!!  There is a wide range of sorbet here, I enjoyed my mango sorbet but I realised too late that they do an affogato with any choice of ice cream you want otherwise I would have done that instead!! The wood fired pizzas smelled good out back, a nice spot

Stopped in here for wood fired pizza for dinner in the sun. Nice location amongst the vines.<br/><br/>Not much outdoor seating, even though there is space for more. Could have been nice to have music playing, as it was lacking atmosphere.<br/><br/>Pizza was cooked well, but lacking toppings and did not have much flavour. There was some sort of ingredient in the base that gave the pizza a bitter taste.<br/><br/>Would only come back for ice cream.

Great range of gelato and sorbet! All tastes great~ Also very affordable compare to some of other places. Great place to stop by for some icy treats after a brunch at the vineyards or a long hike. Order the 4 scoops Tasting Basket if you really keen, that's what we did to share between a couple of us 😜~~

Very yum! I don't even like gelato normally - the guy serving me must have known as he gave a serve half the size of my husband. Hope next time I go I get a man size serving too

We didn't realise that it started, right after Mother's Day, its winter time which would only open on Thursdays, Fridays & weekends. But when we turned up, it opened specially for us. My wife was so delighted to have her favourite coconut sorbet & ginger nuts ice-cream. They were in fact really good.

Great place for really awesome tasting ice-cream that's great value for money. Highly recommend - plus have a good selection of sorbet. Sundaes are super tasty

Always been a favourite place of mine I got the dark chocolate strawberry sundae which was very tasty/ w fresh strawberries and sauce. Minus the quick melting and no seating and if you're a local it's horrible going on the weekends or on public holidays due to the rude aucklanders who push in line and hog tables, other than the experience of having to deal with that the gelato is always good and staff are always lovely.

Delicious ice creams. Almost too many flavours to choose from. They gave us lots of samples to help us decide which was great. Best one for us was lemon meringue.

I agree with other reviewers - this is the best Gelato I've ever tasted. Charlie is indeed talented, making products as good as these. We have been here three times and always the staff are super friendly. The only problem here is deciding which flavours to have : )

Yum! Seriously an amazing selection of icecream to choose from and some unusual flavours too which adds interest. The girl serving us was amazing with my almost two year old and four year old and helpful and friendly towards my husband and myself. I had the banoffe flavour, both kids the chocolate and my husband the maple walnut (I think) all were delicious and serving size generous. The outdoor area was comfortable and nice to sit in on a beautiful May sunny day.

The best Gelato I've ever had. Every time I'm in the area I must pay them a visit!! The line is always long but it's worth the wait. They are always friendly and helpful.

Best gelato I've ever had, great spot for a drive out of Auckland. When they have grapes for sale even better. Great selection of flavours and seasonal special one off choices.

Great service and the outdoor seating is modern and spread out. They always have great new flavors to try. Today I tried the Banoffee gelato and it was amazing. My go to is always the mango sorbet!

Great place to go for a week-end gelato ( ice cream to me !). Nice outside garden and look out for the flavour of the month which changes , yes, monthly. Don't understand how Katharina can give a good review and only score it a 3,Paul

Decadent chocolate gelato and the myriad of other flavours aren't half bad either - in fact, this is a quality pit stop for an afternoon drive, winter or summer! Love the little outdoor garden atmosphere, or even the verandah seating out front. My love of gelato precedes me and Charlies certainly delivers!

I came here after a good visit to Matakana Market. The place was really nice - they got a large back terrace and we enjoyed our ice cream there.<br/><br/>My friends and I were really pleased with the ice cream here - worth to come! Look forward to come here again to try their special menus.

Absolutely love this place ever since discovering it. Their gelato a are delicious as well as their sorbetto which are a first for me. They appear to creamy, however have no dairy and are churned the way they make their gelato. The non-alcoholic Merlot is also delicious, as too are the grapes they produce. A must try for the chocolate lovers is the dark chocolate gelato which is lovely and rich. The berry & elderflower sorbetto is also delicious, as is everything else they serve. This place is well worth the drive!

Amazing some of the best ice creams around. Great place to stop off on your way home from the beach. Surrounded my the picturesque landscape this makes an amazing trip for a summer's day. Definitely worth the trouble!! Ambience, friendly service and great value for money is what makes this place one of my favourites all year round.

Literally the best gelato I have ever had, also their fresh strawberries are to die for. It's well worth the drive, if your headed up north make sure to take a little detour and treat yourself.

My absolute favourite place to visit in the area! Everything I've had there is absolutely incredible. Best gelato / ice cream anywhere. Love the flavours of the month and the fun Easter ones they do etc. Beautiful setting too. An absolute must-visit!

I love this place and they have a fantastic range of freshly made Gelato and Sorbetto. There might be a queue at the door, however it is always worth the wait.<br/><br/>There is parking around the back and plenty of seating in the garden.<br/><br/>Well worth a small detour.
