Fantastic food! We really enjoyed every dish! The red snapper with bacon broth! 🤤 and I’ve no idea how they get that octopus so tender. If you’re in Wellington it’s a must.
Also try the house savvy wine it’s delicious!!

Long overdue review of Ortega. This is based on when we visited in January. We are creatures of habit so we came here 2 nights in a row after a fantastic meal of seafood consisting of oyster, ceviche, mussel - definitely try the teeny weeny French toast fish sandwich - and great wine selection. Place was popular with locals since it was packed on both days. Great vibe too. Shoutout to the owner Davey and bartender Frederico for making us feel at home and for introducing us to some special wines!

Absolutely outstanding restaurant. After being turned away from several restaurants due to it being after 9pm Friday night, we tried Ortega. The staff were incredibly welcoming, they were very busy and there was a great atmosphere when we walked in. The service was fast, our waitress Nicole was superb and very knowledgeable regarding the menu. The food was absolutely outstanding. We will most definitely be back when we are next in Wellington! What a find!!

Fantastic seafood restaurant. Extensive wine list and range of other drinks. Snapper and octopus both cooked to perfection. Crepes were probably the best I've ever had. Excellent customer service. Initially came here for oysters, but even though they were unavailable tonight we still had a great meal. Loved the suggested drink pairings for the desserts.

Ortega was a recommendation from an Auckland chef and we were not disappointed. Firstly, the staff were exemplary, friendly, knowledgeable and everyone of them was in attendance. The wine recommendations were appreciated and the menu was a hard to choose. No food envy from anyone though as all the meals were ample and thoroughly delicious. This is a highly recommend!

An unforgettable evening with Davey and the rest of the team. The seafood has been some of the best I have ever had, the oysters and ceviche were stunning, and the wine list is a fantastic review of New Zealand's offerings as well as having old world classics.
This is one of the best restaurants I have ever had the pleasure of dining in. Stunning food from an unpretentious and well-loved establishment. A must go for any visitor to this fine city.

We recently held a private function in the upstairs dining room at Ortega. The food and service were both excellent. The wait staff were good at communicating and very responsive during the meal. Ortega has an extensive wine selection, which they are very knowledgeable about. Arranging the function was incredibly easy and the room catered for our party of 30 comfortably. All of our guests had a great time and enjoyed the meal. I highly recommend Ortega.

It isn’t any wonder this little restaurant is in the top five seafood restaurants in Wellington New Zealand. From the moment you walk through the front door your tastebuds are dancing with excitement to the beat of the delicious aroma. The food is flavoursome and pleasantly presented. We enjoyed succulent oysters, a tasty crayfish risotto and well cooked gurnard. Sipped on a smooth and cool Konrad Riesling and Book binders beer before finishing with a chocolate & beetroot mousse that tantalised the tastebuds together with the fejeoa grappa! Amazing food and hospitable friendly staff. We will certainly be back �����

Had a fantastic meal at Ortega last night. There was a slight mix up with the meals meaning one came out 5 mins before the other. We weren't bothered at all but the staff went well above and beyond to rectify it. Food was outstanding and the service was even better.
