Went there to celebrate my nephew's birthday.... just perfect for the occasion. Excellent food and amazing service (one of the nicest people ever.. she was pleasant and competent). Then the desert! Wow! Definitely will go back again. As a bonus, the birthday boy's dinner was complimentary.

We had booked a room for a private function - staff Christmas Dinner. The actual place is so big that there were a variety of rooms and lots of other groups using the facility. It’s so big that I didn’t even know other groups were there.
So with that in mind and staffing issues they did extremely well in catering for our group.
The room decorated beautifully, well ventilated and the food was delicious.

Booked the Marquee for the work Christmas Do. Jess made it stress free and was very helpful. They also had a booklet of package/platter options which was helpful for planning. The staff were all lovely, great service. Had great feedback from everyone who attended.

Had a great Friday night at the Thistle! Ordered the 2 for 1 October burger special. Outstandingly delicious. Staff were super friendly and accommodating to our picky requests, which were dealt with effortlessly. Highly recommend this awesome historic pub - it's one of our favourites and the food is superb.

We saw a recommendation to visit The Thistle Inn for a meal by our hotel (social media post). We visited on a rainy night on 19 September. We were seated by a friendly waitress in the warm and cosy dining room. We took advantage of the 2 for 1 burger deal - the very tasty chuck and brisket burger. We had a great meal for a great price in this lovely heritage venue. A must do in Wellington.

Historical place, my elderly supervisor could recall memories from his young age! The walls and floors are full of antiques. It gives a nice feeling and adds to the atmosphere. Busy Inn during evening hours. Food was served on time. Presentation was great and food was excellent!

My first time here at this absolute gem of a place. It's warm and inviting, casual yet sophisticated. The service was attentive and friendly, and the food was excellent. It's our favourite bar in Wellington - lovely old pub that's been tastefully renovated. Great food and superb bar staff. Always have 2 or 3 interesting guest beers on tap. Very imaginative events programme - music, wine & beer tastings etc

Wow a great lunch with a friend. Impressive menu and impeccably executed. My scallops with black pudding was lovely and the accompanying salad excellent. My friend chose the steak sandwich which also exceeded expectations and her chips with gravy were the best ever.

Had our third group meal here today....have to say I was disappointed, although previous luncheons have been very good About 35 of us arrived, seated upstairs and placed our orders...waited waited waited.....eventually about an hour later meals slowly trickled in. My son ordered the battered fish and was served up three tiny thin fillets of pan seared fish and a tiny basket of chips with a few microgreens. Was barely an entree and grossly overpriced for $35. I had Battered fish the same as my son had ordered, it was far more substantial, although the chips were cold and dry, not very nice. Needed a good chunky chip not skinny fries
Desserts equally long wait and had difficulties getting cheesecake base from glass..waaay to hard. There was a very large party seated downstairs and I think the staff were stretched to the max... Wanted to treat my son who had come to meet his father's old mates, to great afternoon out! Sorry it didn't impress either of us, especially as we had flown up from Chch for the day. �

I eat out 2-3 times per week most weeks. The Thistle is possibly Wellington's best kept dining experience secret. The food is fab, the staff are always friendly and helpful, and there's plenty of wine/beer choice. The thing is, you need to be able to get into their little dining room, and not eat out in the main pub area, to enjoy the full experience.
Have been there half a dozen times now and it's never disappointed!

The thistle inn is a amazing place to have functions, (my wedding) from the very beginning and right up until the day they were friendly and helpful. my reception was made incredible by the lovely amazing staff and the wonderful delicious food. I could not recommend a better place, the staff made my day beautiful.

I worked for the Thistle Tavern back in the 90's with my Dad and it was a favourite drinking spot for many of my uncles back in the day before it was renovated. After going there for lunch one day it was a no brainer this was where I was going to get married on the 30th April 2016 to my now husband James. I cannot rave enough on the level of service the friendliness and professionalism of the Wonderful people that work there. Richard was 'Amazing' and so easy going, everything was just stress and hassle free. The food was absolutely out of this world and too a 'very' high standard! Richard, Glen (Chef) and the Bar Staff were just so accommodating I don't think I have ever come across such a wonderful lot of people in Hospo! I would Highly recommend having an event in this 'Beautiful' pub, I would back it 100% and I will never forget our special day it was just 'Perfect', Thanks Richard, Glen and The Thistle Inn for everything you did for myself and James on and leading up to our Wedding day XO.

THistle Inn has been a favourite of my group of friends for some time. I have just enjoyed a birthday lunch there today with four of my friends. Our waitress was a special young woman and the service and special treatment (given my main course and a lovely gift of chutney) made this a memorable birthday. Thank you Thistle Inn.

Still an iconic pub with great food and service but....wet atmosphere before Guns n roses triggered a very large amount of staff and guest slip on the perplex floor. Absolutely poor mangement , all they had to do put one of the rubber mats on top of it. Unlucky people suffer very serious injury due to this and this should not happen at all anywhere. Very disappointed considering you pay very premium prices and the basics are not sorted .
